I just updated the firmware of my brand new Note 10.1 (N8000) using Kies, which seems to have failed - I can't even turn the device off. I'm a quite experienced computer user, but brand new to Android. Any help or feedback would be very much appreciated (esp. how I can at least turn off the device).
Problem Description:
I have a new Note 10.1 (a German device/I'm in Germany using the Vodafone network, but I guess that shouldn't matter) and installed Kies today. The application identified a new firmware and suggested an update, which I did via USB. Everything appeared to have gone all right - the file got downloaded, transferred to the device, which then showed that it was installing the updates (something like 95 items). No error message. The device then booted, and that's where it seems to be stuck: since then, the device is in an endless loop: Screen is black, a swirling animation comes up, than the Samsung Logo, which stays for like 12 seconds, the screen goes black and it starts from the beginning (in total the loop takes like 15 secondes). Kies cannot connect to the device, and I can't even turn it off, it's just stuck in this endless loop.
Before the update, the device was neither modified nor rooted (I only installed a few apps), and there was no error message during the update (at least none that I saw).
Can anyone help???
Get the firmware file from sammobile and flash with odin. You can find a lot of how to regarding Odin, just do a search and you will find a movie or tutorial.

To turn off, just press power until it turns off (about 10 seconds)...

Hi there, I have the same problem but with N8010, after firmware update witch FAILED , my N8010 shows .... Firmwareas encountered an issue , Try to recover with Kies...
No way to recover with Kies, I've tryied with Odin flashing the original firmware Ics 404 " Odin flash PASSED, N8010 restart after flashing first start " Samsung note 10.1.. " but no going further it statck ther, I flashed again in Odin Jb 4.1.2 ... Odin Pass, N8010 reboot , Samsung note 10.1 go further Sound and Samsung logo come up but it stack there, I can not turn my N8010 off, if I push the Power botton it reboot again and stack after the souns and Samsung logo!!!
I can enter in Download mode for flashing again but can not get my N8010 further , Please HELP!! " dont know what to do .

I'm having the same issue!!!!!
Kies failed! Odin PASS and stuck in the logo!, it doesnt boot!
You may need to go into recovery and wipe data/cache partition. This will wipe your internal memory of everything but you will get an operational note...

I am from pakistan.I have GT-P3100 tab during rooting my system crashed and its firmware corrupted .now i don't now which is firmware is on my tab what i can do now .
Now on screen only error massage "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue .please recovery mode in Kies try again"
but in Kies it not connected and i don't know about it all detail like country ,PDA,CSC and MODEM.
till me how i can get it or how can i reinstall firmware and which one.

go to sammobile http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/ ANY FIRMWARE SHOULD WORK AS LONG AS IT IS FOR GT-P3100. FLASH WITH ODIN EXTRACT THE FILE AND PUT IT IN PDA IN ODIN. CONNECT PHONE PRESS START
May be u can help us. Choice one firmware to get out from this problem.
Hello I recently went to root my Samsung note 10.1 gt-n8013 and while it was downloading my cat jumped up onto my lap ripping the cord out of my tablet now the tablet is frozen on " firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in kies & try again " the problem is kies 2.6 won't read the tablet and if I try to enter in the serial number and model number it says my device is not supported. I spoke with kies and they said that's the program for that tablet. I can't get into download mode or recovery mode nor will it shut off it just stays frozen on the same screen. If anyone could help it would be greatly appreciated

I have a problem with My samsung galaxy tab 2 7.0 (GT-P3100).
first, it turn message that say ":crying: please select recovery mode in kies & try again".
I tried connect to my notebook but kies doesn't recognized. then, I tried flash it with odin with official firmware, and it doesn't work either.

I have a galaxy tab 2, I installed cyanogenmod . Then after few months i tried to install stock Samsung firmware, but it stuck in the middle , It says firmware upgrade encountered issue, please select recovery mode in kies and try again. I tried, it asked for model name, i checked on the back of the device it says, GT-P3100, but kies does not recognize it, it says please check model name and enter.
