[Q] Android system high battery use synergy rom - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III

Hi,
I would post this in the synergy rom thread but it wont let me post there. In the battery stats it says that android system is using 27% and android os is using 14% with screen at 12%. Since i installed the latest release it has been doing this and i have been getting terrible battery life. Lasts maybe 8 hours with minimal use ( screen off sitting in a drawer while im at work). There was one post in the thread about it but it just got ignored. Is anyone else having this problem. I did a superwipe before i installed the newest rom.

Post your BBS dump to file txt as an attachment that includes high Android OS drain. Need to see if your phone is being kept awake. Sometimes there isn't anything that really sticks out and I find just rebooting helps reduce that as well.

My Android system is acting the same on SynergyRom, but my battery life is great. Maybe this is not the cause of your battery drain? Have you flashed the latest files from the most recent update?

If you recieved the latest OTA from Verizon then you wouldn't need to. If you didn't you should update your modem and RPM. I know links to each file are in the addons section of the jellybeans rom. RPM has a lot to do with battery life from what I understand. These files are not rom specific and a pulled straight from the ota.

Go to the jellybeans rom post on the Android development section for the Verizon Galaxy s 3. Scroll down to the second post and you will see the links under addons. There is only one link for each and it is the latest update.
I can also report changing to zeus kernel has stopped the excessive Android system use.

here is the bbs text file. I installed the modem and rpm and it is still the same problem. I think i already had the modem and rpm installed because i tried to install the latest update from verizon but it kept saying it failed but i read somewhere that it does that to rooted phones but still installs. Been rel busy with work thats why i havent stayed up to date on this post.

Check your modem version under settings / about phone
you need to have VRBMB1 modem.
If not then you need to update

I had the vrbmb1 modem. I did a super wipe and reinstalled synergy with stock kernel and i have great battery life now, i was using ziggys kernel before. Now android system is only using 5% of the bettery, was 30+ before and device idle is at 17% i dont think it was idling at all before idk why, voice calls is 33% and screen is 30%, i had only charged to 82% this morning and its still at 58% now 13 hours later with 23m23sec talk time 25m screen on time and 12h 32m idle. the phone was dying in 8 hours before with about the same use, mostly idle while i was at work.

March 2012 baseband.

I'd like to know what differences those of you who have used the update tool are experiencing with the new baseband. Signal strength? GPS? Battery life? I'm using the one from July 2011, but I don't know what the differences (if there are any) between the two. Also, does the new bb need a different ril as well? I, think I saw something about v21y? Any help would be appreciated

Don't know the difference, but attached is the ril file you need for the new baseband. I've also sent an email to the developer of getril so he'll update it soon, I hope. Just extract it to /system/lib.
Sweet, thanks. I guess I'll flash the baseband and use this ril and report my findings.

I just installed the updated LG rom with the new baseband and android 2.3.4 today and it seems to have better signal. As for GPS I'm not sure because I never had a problem with it before. And I can't say anything about battery life yet as I just installed it around noon.
Just read that some people are having problems making calls on anything but stock roms after updating baseband. Anyone else got that issue?
I updated to the new stock v21y,
so far iv noticed the obviously new bb,
the key bored seems different, and the touch screen seems more responsive and snappier, if that makes any sence...
but i have also noticed that the colors seem brighter and more crisp.. can anyone els confirm that or is it just me?

Yeah, I heard the keyboard got updated. I think the kernel is the same, so I don't know about the touch responsiveness. Could you do me a favor and flash a custom rom (anything other than stock), use the ril posted above, and let me know if you can make/receive calls?

Already read just about every thread dealing with v21y...
And several people have already stated that pretty much no custom roms are currently able to make calls with the new BB ... so no need to try
Just going to wait for the devs to assimilate the new bb into the Roms....
Shouldn't take them more then a couple days... at most.

Does not show the RIL for V21y,
hey look up at the begining of this thread someone posted a link to the new ril with instructions.
It is in the second post
So far, here are my impressions regarding v21y:
* Battery life: I have been off charger for 10 hours now, and battery has only just slipped down to 80%
* Signal: Any residual signal issues that were not fixed with v21e and T-Mobile's repurposing have been fixed on my end.
* Swype: The built-in Swype keyboard has been updated with a new interface that takes a bit to get used to.
* Browser: Open Window limit reduced to 4 (from 8 in v21e)
* General speed: It does seem a bit faster and more responsive than before. A quick check with Quadrant on my phone gave me a score of 2147
Other than that, it's not much different than v21e.

I see, I see. Well it seems there are some benefits but, for me, they don't outweigh the fact that I wouldn't be able to use any other roms for now. I'll hold off on the new bb until our devs find a way to work with it.

Same handset so should work fine, however LG has already pulled it from the official update tool.
At this point the only option is to use the offline KDZ flash method.
Edit:
Please follow this thread and look for Core Memory's detailed instructions regarding the KDZ method:

But if LG pulled the update, doesn't that mean there must have been something wrong with it? So why would anyone want to try and install the pulled update?

[Q] HTC Sensation turns wifi and mobile network on by itself

Sometimes when I look at my phone I will see the icon for data usage at the top of the screen. The wifi has been turned on and the mobile network is using up my credit?
This either has something to so with app synching(but I have auto-sync turned off) or some other sneaky setting.
As of right now I have checked the "restrict background data" box so I will see if that solves the problem.
This usually happens after being connected to my laptop wifi but not only then. Has anyone had this problem or found a solution?
Which ROM and firmware are you on bro? This was an issue with ROM's based on old firmwares. The latest InsertCoin, ARHD and Elegancia ROM's don't have this issue.
My XE does this too, I'm on the standard OTA ICS update. I was wondering if it was something to do with using Juicedefender, do you use it?
If you are on stock ICS, then this problem should be solved with the update after upgrading. It's a setting update, about 15mb. I had the same problem after updating to ICS too. I think somebody posted about it earlier.

Then Just replaced the stock Sense3.6 files with the ones from Sense 4 using Root Explorer.
The attached the files are from Sense 4 rom.
I dont remember from which post i got to know this. But credit goes to the certain developer.
P.S: Backup ur Rom before doing anything. Noone ll be reponsible if anything happens.

Sorry I useless with tech words. The software info say Android 4.0.3, HTC sense 3.6, Software number 3.32.401.5
And for clarity, I don't use any apps really I just use the base ones that came with the phone.
Thanks for the posts. I turned background data on again because the messaging app was and still is giving me trouble where it stays on "loading..." for one contact. Haven't had the original issue occur since I posted but I also haven't used it on my laptop hotspot.
Are you using a stock rom now..??
I've noticed my phone do this as well (see ROM I'm using in the signature), but only after midnight, like it's got some kind of sleep mode so you wouldn't be bothered by notifications in the middle of the night.
I started noticing this when I first tried OrDroid and it stayed that way when I went back to ARHD. Don't think I've seen the phone do that before using OrDroid for the first time (but maybe it did and I just didn't notice it)

[Q] (MIUI) Installing ME will solve battery problem?

Hi, i recenty install MIUI in my MB865 Atrix. But, the battery drain way too much.
So, i was wondering. If i install the ME865 firm, and then, install miui, the battery will last much longer?
PS: The ME865 firm don't have Play Store. Can i install it?
I dont think you can install ME865 firmware on MB865 (i never tried because i'm on ATT hardware).
and whichever successful MIUI has released is for ME865 only .... installing it on MB865 will cause battery drain for sure

I'm on miui v5 on me865. There is no battery drain in general. It does drain the battery fairly quickly when compared to stock jb even working out the small things to keep data usage as less as possible. Well you can install play store. gmail app and youtube apps are missing by the way

[Q] Help/advice if it is possible. Thanks

Hello. I had my i9003 rooted since 9 months ago and it works perfectly.
Like 3 weeks ago I updated the firmware trough the phone updating tool and the problems started:
-Battery started to last only 3 hours.
So I tried to find a kernel and a rom to solve it.
I installed thefrankestain mod and the bam kernel and it started to turn off suddenly all the time. I freaked out and I try to find "the most stable rom" in forums... finally I found a gingerbread 2.3.6 firmware with recovery and I use it
I have this data:
firmware version
2.36
base
I9003XXLE4
kernel
2.6.35.7-CL1143078 [email protected] 156 #1
compilation number
GINGERBREAD.XWLF2
I calibrated the battery and all that stuff and the phone keeps turning off when I use an app more than 5 minutes!! I hate that.
I don't even know how that data mean (my phone data), I know I am a noob and a loser as I have just watch in the xda video but I will be glad if someone give some thoughts of what is happening to my phone, if it is any solution and
if anyone recomend me any kernel/rom combination that avoid my problem. (links will be helpful as well)
Maybe it's your battery that has gone bad. Is you battery swollen? Can you put it on a flat surface and see if you can rotate is easily?
