I have have found that the rom keeps on trying to find the internal storage (ie in Chinese leak me865) which our phone lacks so the phone heats like hell
So some of them got force closes but it was solved by changing language and again reverting back to English if you also get fcs do try this step
For international users I repeat international users u can flash the first hwtk leak (in. Gz file) and go to miui site and download the edision zip file flash
the link http://www.4shared.com/archive/ApgMqNPs/ME865-ICS-HKTW.html
Factory reset and enjoy
The phone stays cool u get internal storage and miui !!!
its a rar unrar it then the extracted file is also rar unrar it ,you will get a folder named p3.......
Link is down will upload after some time
then flash using rsd lite
then for first boot pull out battery go in custom recovery and factory (for bootlooping solution)
then root install custom recovery and go to miui download edision file
flash factory reset and enjoy
some one asked about battery life its awesome.....
playing asphalt 7 and phone is ice cool
hope i helped u
lets hope our devs find some way for our att bros
Hope this helps devs to figure out how to keep from cool
if u think its not because of it then try to remember the Chinese modded ota it also got warm due to the same reason

I have MB865 with MEARET firm, I'm in middle east region.
reply
sorry bros went to studies directly so couldnt reply
actually i meant to say that the new ics allows the me865 to use 4gb internal storage for real storage purpose(personal use like movies and files)
they completly changed the storage architecture and i think it is hard to bring on mb865 as they made it possible by ics fxz the only fxz available for atrix 2 for ics obviously not for att mb865
but as our international atrix 2 (searet ,,mearet (these are only it think) ) can flash me865 systems without bootloader error we can flash this fxz
i am saying again i do not guarantee anything but many will agree to this as they once flashed the rom for extra 4gb
so yesterday i flashed this fxz then rooted and installed miui and it runs like silk and it keeps cool and even uses internal 4gb for personal storage
remember due to 4gb internal storage given for personal use u cannot use this for dual booting (the moment u format webtop it bootloops)
hope this answers most of ur questions
i will be uploading it for u (again only for intrnational users i say)

About amss, difference's in some frequencies only in WCDMA.just some frequencies locked in amss software.

I mean many things:
1-they has ICS fxz firms
2-they can flash many amss images.
3-they integrates its into GB base images.
4-they have sources.
BTW.can you check board revision? P3 or not?

i did notice those issues but didnt mind them, as I know where the buttons are, lol. And the prox sensor thing can be annoying at times but not so bad, i use the camera often though. When I installed a third party camera app it gave me a toast notification reading; "the camera drivers could not be accessed, a reboot may be needed," upon rebooting, still nothing, do you know of a work around for this until the new version is released?

Gapps was minimal. I knew that wasn't the fix but G Maps was causing a wake lock that got fixed which is good and will help in the grand scheme of things.
I'm confident that this sdcard isse is the main bug. I'm able to stop it from scanning over and over but it breaks storage so I am working on that now. The good thing is that it looks like all of that internal 4GB storage partition is controlled by build.prop so once I figure out the right combination, I cn put this baby to bed

As long as i can remember, when i installed the rom, all that you mention worked good for me.
The camera, the proximity sensor when i call somebody, and the backlight on the soft buttons.
PS: Have you got a release date of the miui with the battery bug fixed? I don't want to do the steps of the rsdlite because i have fear of bricking my phone.
PS2: Why did you changed the name from Offical to UnOfficial?
Edit: I installed it again, and now i have the bugs The brightness bug, the camera bug, the soft button bug.
But, i'm going to test if the battery bug its fixed.
I'm able to FXZ to 'ME865-ICS-HKTW.gz' successfully on MB865 (SEARET Version or Indian version of Atrix 2). And then use the 'miuiandroid_edison-2.9.29.zip' from here as suggested.
Things seem to be safe so far - no issues found (earlier when I tried to flash miuiandroid_edison-2.9.29.zip directly caused several force closes - which I don't see anymore with the above method). Only issue is that the the model shows up as ME865 instead of MB865.

This is for those that have ran both. Have you noticed any significant differences in the two, aside from being able to flash back? My wife has been rooted stock GB and hates changes and wondering if I would be better putting her on the first leak or allowing the upgrade. I ran SCV7 before switching to my SGS3 and found no problems with it. Having never used the second leak, would like some feedback from those that may have ran both. Thanks
Bump.....
The second leak(official) is more stable with less bugs. I have gotten better battery life as well.

Not too worried about being able to go back for her phone. Once ICS is installed and rooted, she'll be happy. Just curious if there are any significant "improvements" between the 2 versions.

I too have the same question, is it smarter to just stay on leak 1, i do like flashing roms and tweaking. Is it going to be that much harder to get custom roms if we have the official OTA version?

Well it's not that it's going to be hard it's just that if you run into some trouble you can always fxz your way back but with leak 2 that it's not the option as there is no fxz for ICS as of now.however recently a few people(including me) have been able to recover from a soft brick on leak2.so really it's a matter upto you.you know the risks and the upside.

Why not stay on leak 1 and just flash one of the roms with leak #2 system? That way you get the best of both worlds.

Totally agree with you. Until there's an FXZ for leak2/official OTA, I'll stay on leak one and flash away. I've already had to use the 2.3.6 FXZ and it worked perfectly.
going to bump this thread if its ok. Now that Official ICS has been out and running for a bit, what are your thoughts on it versus the original leak.

There's always a benefit of root my friend. First and for most is removing bloarware (AT&T preinstalled apps that take up memory and space in background) So many other reasons why root is best. How I describe it to people is like this. Taking a Governor off a car is similar to rooting an android phone. Technically there is only one ROM made from OTA ICS right now here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1960679 but there are others in the development section built of previous ICS "Leaks" we obtained. Such as SCV7, Swifty Trix, CM10, MIUI and a stock based off OTA as well. Hope this helped explain a little. Enjoy the power of the Dark side!

Umm, cm10 is a true opensource rom and not based on any leak/OTA, it is compiled from scratch. The only files taken from ICS are a few libraries and kernel modules and the like, and those have no bearing on version of ICS they were taken from.

Yes, your right Jim. CM is device-wide... forgot to mention that. Shouldn't mater what version of ICS your on. As far as other ROMs go for on this device, as far as ICS goes, like I stated, one (two including stock/rooted) is only based off the official OTA ICS build. I am probably not an ideal tester, due to lack of technical knowledge regarding Android, but should you need a tester of the moderate abilities, and knowledge I would be more than willing to be of help if I actually was help. I currently am running the build of CM10 that is currently available, and am impressed with it, but look forward to your build with much anticipation. And i’ve heard that there are problems that is experienced by other atrix 2 users(superuser versions 3.0.3 and above), how do i fix that?

No, and no. No on 2nd system because it still uses the same underlying stock ICS kernel.
If you took the OTA, then you are stuck on ICS. This has been the case with major android releases and not being able to go backward for a very long time.
Hi i am new at this and would appreciate some help. I upgraded my atrix 2 with the final at&t ICS and hate it. I found a thread here for going back to gingerbread.
[UTILITY] Return to GB from ICS fxz script -- Now includes 2.3.6 fxz 09/26/2012.
Does anybody know if this will work for the upgrade from AT&T?
My phone is rooted and unlocked.
I would appreciate the help.
No it wont work. Once you are on official ics there is no way to downgrade back to gingerbread.

What he said and would like to add that if you try going back to GB you'll hard brick.
If it bugs you so much try a custom ROM there plenty of them (numa, swifty trix,scv7,cm10)..
And this belongs in Q&A not here.

Hey guyz, I have been on stock GB 2.3.5(India) for the last year. Been reluctant to switch to ICS, as people have mentioned gaming issues. I searched but couldn't find a single post that points out the improvements in ICS over GB in Galaxy R. Is it worth switching to ICS? Sorry if I sound dumb, but I don't know much about this. I see that we have CM10 but I'm new to this and not yet ready for it as I'm worried about warranty and stability. It would be really helpful if someone would be kind enough to point out the improvements in ICS n is gaming really laggy? What other issues are there compared to GB? Sorry for being too jumpy and anxoius.
Yes gaming is laggy. On the other hand, scrolling has improved manifold in ICS, many features of ICS like
Inbuilt data usage
New settings menu
Last but not the least, access to apps compatible with ICS!

Have anyone tried Official Indian ICS??
I have a very basic question.
The ICS (India) OTA upgrade is 240mb while the one to be flashed via Odin is 617 mb. Why this discrepancy?
Will there be any kind of difference between the two with regards to phone performance?

The OTA update just has the difference between the previous and new version of software and is compressed. Whereas Odin tar contains the whole package of software. Also, Odin tar (approx 600MB) when compressed, comes down in size (Approx 300MB).

Been testing indian ics for past few days, but the battery life is really bad. Anyways thanx for ur inputs. From some posts I've seen that the polish ICS is the best so far, I mean fewer game lags were reported. Is this true? Can someone confirm? I may switch to it if thats the case, until we have a stable CM.
How does one check if there is the emmc bug in the OTA ICS India update? Is there a simple way of checking for the same?

Wipe the Data in CWM and restart it, if your mobile is working fine then there is no eMMC bug else you are effected and you have successfully bricked your mobile (Simple way to check the eMMC bug )......
ok jokes apart Samsung I9103 Kernel source it self is having this bug so all the Stock kernel's will have it....

i was the first person who have effected / found the eMMC bug for Galaxy R by using the simple way which i have mentioned above ......
Well i meant simple way without bricking ofcourse! I have had signal disconnections in all ICS ROMs (custom & stock). The OTA update is working fine, no signal disconnections till now.

Weird. Ive never faced any problem.with any of the roms. (Stock or Custom) except on power up
Tried XWLP2, XXLQ9, ZSLPD, CAMP ROM, PAC ROM, BB ROM 2.1, CM10
No such problem.
And on the GB INDIAN version...2 visits per week to the SSC from DAY TWO. I started hating galaxy R. But then the Company Owned SSC guys made my life easier and repaired and tested my phone for three days and put some other GB (as they told me) ^_^
I love my Royale now :')
Buddy bdw i would recommend you to get your network cable replaced/checked for once. These network disconnections can mean the hardware being faulty. (at times) (scary)
Has happened to me once on day two of buying galaxy R.

Well when i ment signal disconnections, it is not about data internet but about the network for calls.
I had described the problem 'as i can see' in the thread below
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=31787563
Also see the "post issues in ICS" thread under General section where I am testing a solution for this as suggested by Vikesh and MJ Vikram.

Buddy this is exactly what was happening to me.
The network came and vanished like anything.
The clock (being set by the network's time) used to run to the current time on receiving network.
The SSC guys changed my network cord for this problem right in front of me. (It is a blue wire in our phone)
Since then my signals have nsver gone 0. Theyre always somewhere between -60 to -89 dbm.
I was just suggesting that it might be a hardware issue.

Buddy I never thought it could be a hardware issue since i never had this even once either on GB stock rom or the NeoRom v3 which i used for nearly year. While I have always had it on stock ICS or Mazel 2 with ardatdat kernal v4.1 and above. There are others too who have had this and named it the 'call bug'. I am now testing with v4.0.
Unless....its a hardware issue unmasked by the said kernal. Lets see.
