It's kernel. And xda has plenty if threads dedicated to custom boot animations. Please do some homework. rooted phone, CWM, and a deodexed stock/custom ROM. If you don't know what they are and the why's and how's they come about please go back and read the threads. They are very informative and there will be less likelihood of your phone ending up in a thread like " phone keeps rebooting" "stuck in Odin mode" or some disaster like that.

Go back to ICS from a custom ROM

Hi guys,
This is actually my first post in xda forums. So, i got a Nexus S with KelLMSKing MIUI Mod 2.8.1 custom ROM and 2.6.35.14-ck-1-cfs Matr1x kernel. Well, i'd like to return to ICS in order to update to Jelly Bean and then maybe install a new custom ROM. How could i get this done without loosing root access?
Any help is appreciated!

I'm in the same boat as you. My wife rooted her T869, and installed clockworkmod and wanted the QuickPanel mod, CRT tv animation, and custom boot animation, that she has on her T989, and when she found out that she couldn't because her rom was odexed, she flashed CM10, and while it did have some of the mods she wanted, it lacked the things she liked about the stock ROM such as the mini apps tray, the music player, and the task manager in the system settings.
She has also noticed that the font is way too small for her status bar, but overall, she misses the look and feel from the stock ICS rom. She just wants something that is exactly like the Darkside Evolution ICS 4.0.4 ROM that she has on her T989. It is based on the stock ICS ROM, but has the tweaks she wants and she has the customization options as well.
I have searched and asked if there was a deodexed/zip aligned rom based on the most recent UVLG7 update for the t869, but despite a few views, no one seems to have an answer. We have been looking into how we can try to deodex it ourselves, and our jobs takes up most of our personal time and so we've no time to learn, but we seemed to have hit a wall, and I am hesitant to ask because I don't want to be judged, warned or banned for asking what others might consider a "noob" question or ridiculed for not having the same level of experience as everyone else around here.
So, in the meantime, I just quietly wait and hope that more options will present themselves.
Actually i can learn how to deodex my tab...bcoz i done deodex my previous device...but, just deodex...i dont know how to tweaks, how to make a custom rom, how to make a custom kernel, how to make a themes(but i know how to change Jpeg file on system.ui and framework-res)...ohh god...i hope we will get dev on our section...

we got devs on our forum. but the support from samsung (the drivers especially) are very bad, they aren't released on the web. so devs find difficulty to make custom kernels.
some devs also tried porting AOKP to gtab+, just stay patient guys
Oic...now everything explained...

That's just the minimum that are required by them to be released I think, it's not everything. ATM our CM10 relies on some binary blobs for things such as the kernel from the S3 simply because there's no source available to build yourself and there's not enough documentation to write one yourself either.

Would this be of any help? I came across this article when I was checking to see if the source code for my wife's tablet had been released.

[Q] Best Kernel for Jelly Bean Roms

Hi guys does anybody know which kernel is the best for any jelly bean rom (I'm running Liquid Smooth rom 4.1.2 ). Thank you all!
There really ain't much variety. You are probably better of sticking with the kernel each respective Rom includes.
Most JB roms use scott's kernel source, while some have their own kernel (cypher, aocp)..

I'm glad to see someone else ask this first. Which Infuse JB ROM's actually have their own Kernels? After flashing LiquidSmooth & Scott's Unofficial and seeing the same Samsung Galaxy S splash screen staring at me from my Infuse, I figured they were all the same.

Yes that was pointed out to me in the thread I made. Maybe you can answer another question? Is the "Samsung" splash screen hard wired into the phone or is it also in the Kernel? Because right now I see it flash the original "Samsung" screen, then the "Galaxy S Cyanogen Mod" screen and finally my boot animation. How many "Splash screens are there?

[Q] Recomended stable/for daily use rom?

Hi, I'm new to this device as a friend gave it to me. I've read a lot about flashing, stock and custom roms but I can't see a stable custom rom. As far as I've understood ICS and up roms are still not stable enough, so I may go for a GB rom but don't know what.
BTW if I go to a stock rom is there a way to maintain CWM or would I have to flash it again after flashing stock?
Best & stable Gingerbread rom:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1440284
Follow the instructions carefully.
Good luck!

You read a lot and you can't see a stable custom ics/jb ROM??? My advice: Stay at GB... Stock rom is the best for you.

Probably this is a best solution for this moment I'm using this rom. Easy to install and easy to use. I'ts smooth quick and solid on my SG I9003 SCL
Thanks for your recommendations but any of that roms have worked 'cause I'm having this problem. I've installed Bam's Custom Kernel and 4ext convertor script and I'm able to get /data working, so then I flash any of that custom roms but I'm stuck again on bootloops.
this one also very good

GB ROM: The Frankenstein Mod is very good(no bugs and a lot of bloatware removed). I used it for many months and then switched to Alpha 5.
Jelly Bean: Dhiru's Alpha 5
The best of all roms for the SL cleaner faster and 4.2.2!!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2299301&page=82
Try the new 4.2.2 ROM from master Dirhu with Kernel 3.0
It has some few bugs at the moment but it is working very very smoothly (better than a sock one). My phone is like a new one with this ROM.
It comes with Cyanogenmod 10.1

LoLaTiOn already made a supersmooooth rom based on this rom....

Hi. I just read a few guides since I don't know how this phone works that well, but as far as I am concerned, you would have to first install a rom or kernel with CWM 5 or higher, not 6. So there are ROMS on gingerbreaed that have this... But just to be safe, i would install cm7.... Look at this http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/Samsung_Galaxy_S/SGH-T959V/Installing_a_ROM
Your best bet is to use a 1click like eollie's 1 click with a modded kernel that has cwm built in, first link in the 2nd post here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1358498
Once you flash that, you will have cwm, which you can then use to flash any variation of ICS. You might need to be on ICS then go to JB, depends on the ROM but most will let you go straight from the cwm that the above link to the new ROM.
If you don't need GPS, don't mind small bugs, etc, then there are several JB's out there.
If you want GPS, good battery life, stability, etc, then try ultragen and the kernel linked in my sig.
Just flash Fluidification's CM10.1 Aries. I flashed it from 2.3.6 stock with CWM 5.0 2 8 and it automatically updated me to 6.0.2.8 at the beginning of the flashing process. Hope i helped!
