Hi, I'm new to this device as a friend gave it to me. I've read a lot about flashing, stock and custom roms but I can't see a stable custom rom. As far as I've understood ICS and up roms are still not stable enough, so I may go for a GB rom but don't know what.
BTW if I go to a stock rom is there a way to maintain CWM or would I have to flash it again after flashing stock?
Best & stable Gingerbread rom:

Follow the instructions carefully.
Good luck!

You read a lot and you can't see a stable custom ics/jb ROM??? My advice: Stay at GB... Stock rom is the best for you.

Probably this is a best solution for this moment I'm using this rom. Easy to install and easy to use. I'ts smooth quick and solid on my SG I9003 SCL
Thanks for your recommendations but any of that roms have worked 'cause I'm having this problem. I've installed Bam's Custom Kernel and 4ext convertor script and I'm able to get /data working, so then I flash any of that custom roms but I'm stuck again on bootloops.
this one also very good

GB ROM: The Frankenstein Mod is very good(no bugs and a lot of bloatware removed). I used it for many months and then switched to Alpha 5.
Jelly Bean: Dhiru's Alpha 5
The best of all roms for the SL cleaner faster and 4.2.2!!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2299301&page=82
Try the new 4.2.2 ROM from master Dirhu with Kernel 3.0
It has some few bugs at the moment but it is working very very smoothly (better than a sock one). My phone is like a new one with this ROM.
It comes with Cyanogenmod 10.1

You can try the new value pack (xxle4) but it's laggy or you can install a custom rom based on 2.3.6 there are on the development section they are very fast and bugfree

Uhm, if you really don't want trouble AT ALL, and want the most stable thing ever on earth without the risk of any issue, stick to stock, if anything happens then the service center will help you.
If you don't mind the risk and possible small bugs, go to the development section, and chose one you like.
But most custom GB roms are actually faster than stock..
Mod of xxle4 is new so it's not cook yet. Just try Poseidon rom based of xxkpq

MIUI 10.5 is almost a daily driver. Didnt have any issues and it looks super cool.
poseidon's rom is good for regular activities
try flash value pack...
I used KPQ for long time, very stable. Now using AOKP. It's really nice and even though video recording does not work, i wouldn't go back to GB. Battery life is good too.

Where can I get MIUI 10.5 rom for gt i9003???
Just stay with stock DDLF2 for stable and best battery efficient ROM. Launcher is a bit laggy but fine.
Deodex it and flash " Jelly Bread " theme for DDLF2 which is simillar to JB.
Look at this.

i am using stock kpq now .
i have tried jelly bean , ics , and kitkat available for gt i9003. but i found that all of them are not stable versions. And also if you are ready to take risk i will opt you kitkat which i found more stable than all other costom rom that i have used. but when you use kitkat goole apps will be limited and also there is a problem of hanging your system will . i say its better you to stick with stock rom :good:
Hello members,
First of all I'm new here and my English can be a bit bad, sorry for that.
My question is probably already asked but I couldn't find it, a link to the thread will be helpful.
So what is the problem?
I want to install a custom rom but I don't really know how to do it.
First of all:
- I have an Samsung Galaxy S Plus.
- I want a Custom rom that is working properly and bug free for 99.9%
- I am not an complete noob, I know how to flash with Odin, Root my phone, etc. etc.
I have already done some research, but must I do a Hard Reset to install a new rom? Can I get my applications and personal settings back? (I made a back up) How do I get it back?
Which Custom rom's are almost bug free?
-Broodrom Rc5?
-Cranium Rc9?
- Others?
Thank you for helping me:good:,
At-
PS: Again sorry for the bad grammar.

Hi my friend. I also own a i9001.
1. There are some different kinds of roms. do you like Cyannomgen or Aokp based rom for 4.0.4 or a gingerbread rom (2.3.6) with launchers and kernels with overclock or underlock.
2. Gigabread is the best rom for me. It is 2.3.6. and it has every rom's best specs.
3. untill now has released CM9 build 7 and CM9 beta 2 by ivendor wich are very smooth and have fixed camera bugs ( not everything)
I dont like 2.3.6.custom roms with ics launcher because i think that they are heavy for our device and eat a lot of Ram memory....

I like both Cynagen and Aokp. I also like a rom based on 4.0.4 more than 2.3.6.
Can you tell me more about the different rom's and how to install them?
Every version of 4.0.4. is based on CM9 or aokp, but dev have put their own changes. And when there is a new version of cm9 or aokp they update their roms. If u want a rom based on i9300 I strongly recomend you Rem-ICS, a different 4.0.4 Paranoid. There are and some others roms, whicj I have not tried, but only minnor differences there are. Paranoid and Rem thre are th most famous and on other devices.
However there are a lot of option on Roms. Check them out at:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1270
Installation of cm9 or aokp rom.
1. You will need custom recovery for cm9: twrp or CMW5 or CMW6
2. Wipe data and cache.
3. Flash update*.zip.
4. Flash gapps*.zip. You must flash gapps after every upgrade to CM9 since /system is formatted, wiping your previous add-ons.
5. Reboot phone.
6. After you setup your Google account, reinstall the three apps from Market in order to restore most of your apps, call log and SMS history.
Don't use titan back up.

Fist of all, read the wiki:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/Samsung_Galaxy_S_Plus/GT-I9001
Then you have to install a custom recovery, you can follow this guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1776095
With this urls u will understand how dev is working. Inspite of the fact that they are for gingerbread they are very usesful for a beginer..
But cynomgen is very is to instal and to use..

I can really really recommend the CM9 ICS ROMs by arco and ivendor. Check their respective threads to see if the remaining bugs affect you and if they don't or hardly do use these versions instead of modded stock ROM.
I currently have arco's Alpha 7 installed and it's so much better than the Gingerbread Samsung firmwares, even the debloated ones.
I agree with you. I think that only gigabread is the best modifited 2.3.6. The others 2.3.6 use launchers like halo, go and I think that they are lagy.. So try a 4.0.4 and since the last edition of cm9 only fm radio is not working. Usb tethering is improved and 80% of camera is working...
However a bug is battery life, and if you use a lot wifi and 3g it will drain a lot of battery

Thank you guys, i'm going to install cm9!
Edit: What are the difference between cm 7.2 and 9? I can't see any differences on videos.
Cm 7.2 is stock based?
Cm9 is based on 4.0.4 and cm7 is based on 2.3.7. Install cm9.not cm7...

For those of you who wanna know which ROMs is to be used, which is the best etc.
Firstly, everyone has a different taste so no one can decide which ROM you gonna like.
But I'll be mentioning some of the best ROMs available for this device.
Here we go:
1. HYPERMOD™ V2 (SUPER EXTREME V4) ROM by Nikhil Mendu http://www.nikhilandmmxa110.com/2013/05/hypermod-v2-super-extreme-v4-rom-for.html
2. JMP™ v11.5 ROM JB 4.1.1 http://www.jmprom.org/2013/05/jmp-v11.html#more
3. Suvi ROM - Info:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2142284
Download:http://d-h.st/Aw8
4. S.E.M.I. v4 ROM http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2141912
5. JMP™ Killer ROM ICS 4.0.4 http://www.jmprom.org/2013/05/jmp-killer-rom-ics-404-118-mb-8th-march.html#more
You can find the download link for all other ones, but it actually took me time to find Suvi ROM's download link so I'm posting it.
I currently am using the Stock ICS and I got 150+, actually 180+ Free RAM.
But I prefer using HYPERMOD V2, that ROM is just awesome. Gonna flash it soon.
If you have any questions, just ask.
:good:
Also tell if something is missing.
Hit Thanks button if it helped.

I like Jana's ROM, but yeah it all depends on your preferences, you should research a bit, problem is that there is so many custom ROMs
just wanna share.in my opinion and i always trying each newest cusROM..here my reference
- CM based: use CM 7 or 9 customROM.you can use pure CM or just CM based.it's fast and suitable for our fit.You can try CM 10 but it's laggy,to hard for our fit
You can try Jellybean Experience v3 by Tejkumarvusirikala,it's awesome.my suggest, use CM 7 based.no major bug found.
- Stock based: offcourse this is the most suitable one.because it's from stock rom that has been modified. all working guarantee
After all,you have to read the custom rom thread totally, cause there will be feedback from other member or user about the current rom.and the support from the developer offcourse.
the most important is all system working 100%.whatever the custom ROM you use.

Stock rom seems to be always the most stabe and daily driver
Also there is no perfect rom,it depends on what you need (stability,performance,UI.....)
For me i like non stock roms the most.., but i always choose the stock UI (in my case S3 with Nature UX).
The stock roms are indeed the most stable, but some mods are only in custom roms

Custom rooms is more secure, faster, more features
Stock is well more stable that's all.
Sent from my SCH-I500 using Tapatalk 2
I prefer using stock ROM with Deodexed and Zipaligned apps as it's more stable than custom ROMs
Stock vs Custom Rom
I prefer a super stripped down stock Rom, bloatware removed. Then add mods and tweak things to how I want.
Also Re-odexing a rom (custom/stock) after installing mods and themes will keep the rom boot up quickly
whenever I tried a stock rom (experience with Galaxy Ace, Desire, Desire HD, S2, S3 mini and S4) I feel like stock roms are slow compared to custom roms.. never modded a stock rom
I prefer custom roms. At early state the might be buggy but afterwards you have much more functionality.
for LG stock is much better than custom roms

Of course custom rom...
However it depends on rom's build quality. There are a lot of kind of roms.
A stable build of a rom is much more stable, better and faster than a simple stock rom with blootware
Custom rom hands down. There will be a rom that's pretty much stock but deflated and tweaked. Anyone who chooses stock over custom, let alone on xda, hasn't really done their research

its ur choice what to discuss in this??
A stock ROM will run the device as it was designed to be run. This will traditionally give you the most out of box stability and performance.
A custom ROM is meant to run the device as the ROM author intended, subject to the limitations of the device. These ROMs usually trade off performance and/or stability for new features (while sometimes disabling features from the stock ROM, typically due to non open sourced drivers).
The point of a custom ROM is to addressed perceived shortcomings of the phone. If you purchase a phone that does what you need, then you won't need to install a custom ROM. If there are no phones that handle what you need, then you get the closest approximation and run a custom ROM that addresses your needs.
On my HTC Droid Incredible (2010-2011), I wrote my own ROM so that it would perform exactly as I needed. For my Galaxy S2 (2011-2013) and Galaxy S4 GPE (2013-), I have no desire to run a custom ROM.
No one is going to be able to tell you what sort of ROM is best going to fit YOUR needs, except YOU. Everyone has different needs/wants in a ROM. The best thing to do is try different ROMs out and see which one is best for your day to day phone needs.
