Hey guys, We are going to try something new for our china phones - cyanogenmod.
But we need some more devs to get everything going.
For now we have:
-Github tree for Lenovo P700i(mediatek 6577, android 4.0.4, kernel 3.0.8)
-Lens_flare - original port author(may work with system folder and configs)
-some kernel source from other devices like liquid gallant
The main problem is getting adb to work that could help a lot on remaining development. For now even zygote not starting, but all partitions seems mounted successfully.
We need more devs (especially that could assemble working kernel for device), working with p700i may lead to following porting for other mtk devices, as sources are nearly the same.
ᗗᗗᗗᗗᗗᗗᗗᗗᗗᗗᗗᗗᗗᗗᗗᗗᗗᗗᗗᗗᗗᗗᗗᗗᗗᗗᗗᗗᗗᗗᗗᗗᗗᗗᗗᗗᗗᗗᗗᗗᗗᗗᗗᗗᗗᗗᗗᗗᗗᗗᗗᗗᗗᗗᗗᗗᗗᗗᗗᗗᗗᗗᗗᗗᗗᗗᗗᗗᗗᗗᗗᗗᗗᗗᗗ
and this, PS: its the same phone as the cynus , there is the JB sources

Bro,You too working on the CM kernel?? Best of Luck.....Thought it would help Others for getting Cm soon :cyclops: :cyclops:
Well that source in the OP is ICS... JB sources are still a mess... Nothing more that a Cyanogen 9 is possible I believe!
People make their own device tree's also! Instead of consuming that Nothing other than CM9 is possible instead help or GTFO! We will make it possible one day I believe!
@varun.chitre15: The Github Organization is ready! I already forked a few repo's! So, Start Working

Nopes! I am not making a CM Kernel instead directly building CM9! The Prebuilt Kernel will boot CM9! Though.... @DanceOff was also working to get CM10.1 Booting :cyclops: Now, That he knows about already available CM9 Sources we could get CM9 Booted first then think about fixing bugs etc. Plus, Most of the people are ready to sacrifice 1 sim to get a Working CM on their MTK Device

Mate, hold your horses you don't get to use abusing slangs and expect help from anybody...
If you are interested then dive into what you think is possible and do it, there is no harm in expecting better!
Its time to united whole developers... support and help cyanogen dev., instead of developing so-called ROMs..(everything is same features... so boared)

Hi Everyone,
CyanogenMOD would be an awesome accomplishment for these devices. Please try to stay on topic and not engage in petty disagreements. It is incredibly easy for a community effort to get derailed or fall apart. Remember, if you see something you don't like or disagree with, you can always ignore it or report it.
Thanks!

Well I am still working upon this matter in the background. Somehow I messed up my build environment and god knows why, my recovery builds aren't booting as seen on the thread even though my device trees are untouched. Will be starting cleanly once I finish my exams on 16 May.
And regarding CyanogenMod, I have made a pretty good progress here. I have been studying the android ICS sources since they were discovered. Till now I have succeeded to frontport the MTK Gemini support, FEATUREOPTION builder, MTK GPS, MTK Camera HAL to the AOSP 4.2. But all of them are untested because I don't have the device, everyone knows. For this purpose I am going to buy the upcoming Xperia C3, which upon using as a medium for testing I can do this stuff a bit faster which will be beneficial to all MTK devices throughout. I have more than 30 commit patchsets lying on my machine which I will outsource soon.
I will suggest to use AOSP as base for these experiments because its always good to understand the pure upstream code. Once we have done noticable progress here, we can diff and merge them in projects like CM.

As the title says, the Fit has been moved to the Legacy & Low Activity devices. I would like people to come up with ideas and innovations. If you are unable to execute the idea, please join hands with DEVS. to complete the task. If you are unable to do so, just help the DEVS. test out what even is built. COme up with different custom ROMS and everything! I, as a DEV., will contribute all my BEST on keeping this device into the Main Forum.
Here is a list of what we need to achieve
-> Black Android Theme (Responsibiltiy taken by bangalorerohan)
-> Bug-free CM7(DONE)(Thanks to vishwanathptl,TJ_STYLE,marcellusbe)
-> DEV. of Scripts and Custom ROMS (ANy user can apparently do it)
-> Tutorials, Guides and ROM feedback THread ( I can do it for the future release of ANY official ROM)
-> Port of themes (Contribute as much as you can on this)
-> Overclocking Kernel (If anybody helps me, I can do this)
-> USB OTG and TV-OUT (Kernel Tweaks)
On achieving all of the above, the Fit can be moved to the Main FOrum, I believe. So, all the DEVs. and learning DEVS. please help to bring this to the main FORUM.
Also, If you have any doubts in any thing, regarding Development, please feel free to PM any DEV!
Fit is not a Legacy or Low activity Device!!

Wanna join me to make a OverClockable kernel?
I was gonna start making a Kernel soon, it seems you are interested.
Why not be a part of my team which only consists of me? LOL...
I don't know anything about Kernel Development....
Gonna start up by reading stuff from Google....
I need someone to test the Kernel too once its made....
My friend who has this phone won't do it :/
So what say?
I am ready to join you! I am now downloading the source code and stuff for Fit! Will take some time! And, I am a total NOOB to kernel DEV.
But, I think I have a friend who is good at it! I will try consulting him on what I can do.
Also, it would be good if you can share the source from where you are about to learn the Kernel Tweaking!

That's because the oc kernel is for mini....apart from the touch keys, screen and camera everything else is identical with fit and hence those features not working...a huge thanks for testing the same....am pretty sure one of our devs can pick up the work of changing the required in the mini oc kernel....the same way in which we got CM7.1 working for our fit....
Hi,
I thought this was not yet possible to port Cyanogenmod on Dual Sim devices, at least not properly, but then I saw this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2246874
It gave me a real hope for the generic MT6589 device I am currently using.
I am new to all of this, so I hope I don't bother everyone.
Also, my device uses obviously different hardware, but uses the same processor, so I managed to install the above ROM and got it working but without any screen display.
In other words, it was working, and I could see everything as far as the installation wizzard was concerned, so I thought I was fine, but then when I was done and it rebooted, I could not see anything on the display anymore, but the phone was still working working.
So I am assuming some obvious hardware drivers differences, and that the old drivers were still working till I restarted?
Is there a way to modify the rom to make it work?
What files would I need to pull from my device to add/replace in the posted ROM to make it worlk, if that is possible?
Or does cynanogenmod have to compile with the files of my device to work, even though the processor bit had already been done?
If so, I have no problem in trying to compile cyanogenmod from scratch, but I will still get the dual SIM problem, and I thought this has been fixed in this ROM.
So what modifications would need to be done to incorporate the DUAL SIM issue, and make it work, or has this already been resolved upstream?
Is there a github or such of the modifications and alterations that were done to Cyanogenmod for this posted ROM in order to get it working?
I am willing to use those files and port it to my device, but without these modifications, I will not be able to do anything, even though the kernel sources for MT6589 are openly available now.
Sorry for asking this question here, but I tried to reply to the original post and it did not let me.
Is it okay to ask this here?
If not, please excuse me, and if you can forward me to the right place.
Thanks and regards

I can see that, but I think with some patience I can do it.
Also, I have been using Linux for years now, and it seems I just need to figure out how things are laid out in Android.
And once I get used to that, then things become easier.
I am assuming that the linux kernel needs to be compiled with the specific drivers related to my hardware, right?
However, that would still not take into account:
- The changes made in Android/Cyanogenmod that take into account Dual SIM functionality
- How Cyanogenmod is actually laid-out, such as are changes done directly to stock android, or applied as patches?
I was thinking of the following:
1) Checking for the difference between stock Android and Cyanogenmod, and save aside the diff changes to make a patch file.
2) Then hope to find the sources of the stock android that has already been modified to work with MT6589, since these devices obviously use Android on them with some modifications
3) Then apply the patch made in (1) on these sources
Thus, I also need one important question answered:
If I were to download the sources for Cyanogenmod (which I already did), are the patches to the stock Android already applied, or are they placed in a separate folder, and applied on compilation?
I have this feeling that the above patches will probably not work out, because there will probably be extra functions, code that the patch will not be able to take into account, and will have some type of non-working or broken system, until I figure out what is missing.
I might get it to boot to a certain point (most probably shell like), and it would stop there.
Well, in either case, after writing all this down, I started to visualize more the hard part you are talking about, and this would require good knowledge of Android Code and structure.
Thus, if anyone can give me the required Cyanogenmod sources that have already been modified to work on an MT6589, or the diff patches between the normal and modified Cynogenmod, then that would be amazing.
Then I will have to only figure out at that point the propriety files I need to pull from the device, and specific vendor modifications.
Of course, I am just speculating, as this depends on how Android/Cyanogenmod is structured, and I could be completely off the mark, and have no idea what I am talking about.
Thanks

Okay so I've bought a samsung galaxy chat B5330 device back in feb'2013. Don't ask me why cause I conciously bought it. So I realised after searching for 6 months that there is no interest of developers in this device. so I have taken up the initiative to 1) Build CM 10, 2) Port CWM, 3) Root the device myself. However I don't have much idea about building android. I've rooted and flashed Custom recovery n ROMs to my dad's phone before and I'm a geek so I learn things quickly about computers n phones. So I'm nor a complete newbie neither a Master developer. Therefore I need help of those devlopers who will be kind enough not to discourage me. Anyone can root a device which is more popular because it gets vulnarable too quickly so there is no point in telling me that "you should have bought a device which has developer support". I am interested to be a developer myself n that challenge is really so tempting to me. So here are my questions which I don't have exact idea about.
1) I have a computer of the config -> AMD fx 6100 hexacore buldozer 3.3 GHz/4 GB RAM/500 GB HDD/Windows7(32) & Ubnuntu 13.04(64). Can I do the job of building roms from the source with this config in the first place?
2) Does galaxy chat B5330 support 'fastboot'? if yes then How can I boot into fastboot mode? I've tried with adb 'reboot-bootloader' but the device just restarted normally. So I don't know How can I get into the fastboot mode?
3) CM developers are really kind enough that they have put alot effort into making the wiki. I've got precious informations about building android from source and all. But I have a confusion. There was mentioned fastboot is necessery for building CM. So if my phone does not have fastboot should it mean that I can't build CM for my device at all?
4) How much data do I have to download? Do I need to be connected to the internet always while editing local file? n If I use 'repo sync' to update the code always won't my editings get overwritten by stock code again?
so these are few basic questions I have for now. I know I might not get any response at all. But there's no harm in trying. thanks

But there's no harm in trying. thanks

I've got a working CWM. Looking forward to porting a newer version.
I've got my hands on a working cwm (somehow it did) for b5330. Now looking forward to porting CWM 6 from cm source. I just have too slow bandwidth for cm source syncing. So let's see how it goes.

The best way to start is to use another Rom as base (get permission first) then start tweaking it with scripts, apps and build.prop tweaks. Once you start to get familiar with the basics, start experimenting with different tweaks. Since you are going to create a Cyanogenmod 10 Rom from scratch, I give you best of luck and hope many people will use it!
FINALLY!

read this thotoughly.
Today my wife got this device as a gift for Christmas. She asked me to look at it and set it up for her. After about an hour of research I was deeply disappointed by the fact that this device has no ROMs or Kernels and barely supports ROOT. The device is kind of slow for 2013 due to its one core 1GHz processor. But I am sure this issue would be fixed with optimizations from custom ROMs and Kernels. I myself am not an android developer but do some coding in the free time and worked on a few ports of sense for several devices. On this thread I would like to get as many developers possible with the Asus MeMO Pad to communicate and collaborate to develop a working port of CyanogenMod for the device. I will be happy to help anyone interested in this project by doing some work in the free time. I chose CyanogenMod as it is probably the easiest one to compile and is much simpler than its competitors. If we get a successful build of CM then we can move on to developing Kernels and more complex versions of Android. Keep in mind that this is not a request for any particular developer but just an invitation to collaborate and build a working ROM for this tablet. If you are interested in working with me on this project please PM me or comment down below. I will be glad to help as much as I can. Thank you to all of the developers that would be willing to participate in this project.

and CWM is also very buggy (build using online kitchen)
Please feel free to PM me

Hi! I'm the guy that made CWM for this tablet, as well as the one on whos idea the whole root thing is based I'm very glad that someone picked up work on this tablet and is trying to make it better, since I don't have the time and I've lost my patience since ASUS is refusing to co-operate as far as updates and source codes are concerned. You can always PM me with questions as well as all or any info you have and I'm also willing to test builds out. Thanks

Hiya @nerotNS, I'm currently new (a noob) at xda-developers forum but since I'm actually getting a memo pad what better way of installing cyanogenmod properly than asking for help. However I couldn't help but to find the source code, and I did. I'm currently still learning so the source code wouldn't be of help to me than it would to you. So that said, heres the source
==> support (dot) asus (dot) com/Download.aspx?SLanguage=en&m=ASUS+MeMO+Pad&p=28&s=6
(remove spaces and replace '(dot)' with '.')

Hmm that's the kernel source code, we already have that Though it was in a bit of a strange format, plus I firmly believe that it's outdated as I think ASUS made some changes in the kernels via OTA. Thanks for your tip though,it's good to see that someone's trying to do with this pad

Hello everybody,
Here is a custom cm13 port for the Oppo f1f, it is unofficial and unsupported as far as I'm aware.
Thanks go out to uberlaggydarwin for doing all the work on the F1f so far.
(Edit: I can't post links on new account. Pm me for link)
So far bugs are many including no sim card working.
We all need to get together and test and develop for this device and not leave it to one person. Make sure you all thank BrinlyAus aka Uberlaggydarwin for his dev efforts so far.

If you really want a taste of a working marshmallow I suggest you try the Project Spectrum Beta:
http://www.oppomobile.vn/forum/t/rom-beta-6-0-cho-oppo-f1-kem-root.24792/
I haven't tested it but I have read the bugs are minors.
yes project spectrum beta v1.0 is worth the try m usin it on my phone installed it todaih itself, very minor bugs, me no dveloper . the bug i noticed is 1) black border at bottom of snapchat app (resolution issue maybe) , and sometimes SD card doesnt detect ( reboot fixes it easily) others thngs just fine
How to install this spectrum beta rom... Should we change also from stock recovery to twrp ?
I suppose that it doesn't include color os ?
Thanks

True. I am trying to assist with cm13. But in the mean time I did cm12.1 build, and apart from WiFi and camera not working everything else I tried works great. Better than ColourOS, so if I can fix those it will be my daily driver untill we get cm13.
