Going by prices at Negri and Expansys, I see prices dropping fast.
At Negri, prices for i9500 went from $850 when it first came out to $800 to $750 to $740 and now $690
S4 i9500 at Negri Electronics
S4 @ Expansys going for $770
S4 i9500 at Expansys
I was going to buy, but at the rate the price is dropping...kinda scares me.
Maybe they're not selling as well as they thought causing price drops ...
Excellent news, hopefully will see the price drop in the UK soon as well

If you avoided buying a mobile phone on the basis of it's price dropping over time you would never purchase it. It's what happens, especially in the first month or so of release.

Pretty much all phones that have the anticipation factor (iPhone, S3, S4.... even the newer Blackberrys) have a higher initial price cos they know that early adopters, gadget freaks (like me) will pay that little extra to get the newest phone first.
Even the contract prices are higher in the first month or so, either upfront cost or per month.
Happens every time a new phone comes out.
Who has the better rep?
Expansys or Negri?
Prices are going down, means many people already bought the phone since day one, they must have a much more larger inventory for GS4 than previous galaxy phones, I remember when the GS2 came out, sold out within minutes from the first few set of batches, weeks apart! plus there are some people who didn't upgrade from GS3 to GS4, I believe it was worth the update since just about everything in the in hardware doubled, but at the same time, from an S2 to S3 I don't think it was not worth it upgrade because upgrade was not sufficient (few minor updates from GS2 to GS3)
Most people payed $800 or more preordering it or buying the GS4 the first week of its release, i will waited for the 2nd Week Saved about $150 from launch price, since the price went down. but now prices gone down more affordable! which maybe good for the CHEAP people who brag about that launch prices are expensive, when its the actual RETAIL price of a newly launched phone.
Greetings..
What?..
I've come from the S2 to the S4. If anything it was certainly a leap from S2 to S3 than S3 to S4. Think you got it back to front there.

I just got mine off ebay yesterday for 500 the exynos version totally love it.
Price is dropping but not that Samsung is giving that discount. Probably it depends on the shop and place. Here in Holland the price is not dropping. Octa core is not for 4G and maby the phone shops know something you don't know. That is, 4G is coming in your country and they want to get rid of all the octa core phone fast.

So here is my dilemma.
I have been an HTC user for years. My Touch Pro 2 is hanging together by threads and needs replacing. Android is the way to go.
I have a Euro spec factory unlocked Iphone 4 on the way to me from my office in South Africa but I really do not like the Iphone form factor.
I considered the HTC Inspire but wanted to wait for the Infuse which seems to be getting great reviews.
I could probably sell the unlocked Iphone here in the USA for some decent money (they appear to be selling up above the $600 mark!!) and then use the proceeds to buy the Infuse off contract and still have some change so that when the Galaxy S2 comes out I could even sell the Infuse and upgrade to the GS2.
Does my logic make sense?
Any other suggestions?
I basically did the same thing except I had my iPhone for about a year before I sold it so it was fairly used. It was a 16GB black iPhone in fair condition and I jailbroke it before I sold it. I got $380 but I know some people who have gotten up to $450, just depends on the day.
I bought the Infuse off-contract from Amazon Wireless for $580, so it bascially cost me $200. But I'm really happy that when my contract ends next year I can either get off AT&T or sell my Infuse and upgrade to whatever the newest dual-core phone is.
I bought mine with 100 off for early upgrade. Trade in another phone, or sell for a little more and that brings it down more.

Your logic is great, except let me give you some info on what my situation was as it was very similar:
If you're in a good CraigsList city, which I see you're in SoCal... I'm in the bay area. Where there's a big Craigslist community like in CA, you can get pretty good deals on Infuse brand new. I bought several for $375-425 (started buying one for me and my friends wanted a couple so I ended up buying 4 total, haha).
I too came from iPhone 4. I had 2 unlocked iPhone 4s from the UK. The demand in the US for these is absolutely unbelievable. One I sold for $1100 2 weeks ago, and the other I sold for $1050 yesterday. Both sold on eBay. Keep in mind they were both less than 6 months old (one was a 6 week old white version, hence the higher price)... but there's a huge market out there for factory unlocked models. When the iPhone 4 came out, I flew to London, bought 4 and kept 2, sold the other 2 for $2000 each, so it paid off all four ... they're not cheap over there (about $920 USD), which is why they fetch so much resale.
I first tried the Inspire 4G. It's a good phone, but the killer for me was the battery, which to be blunt, sucked. I sold it and got the Infuse. I've only had the infuse for a week now, but the battery is much better than the Inspire 4G, and the overall performance is great. I did like the metalic build of the HTC, but I suppose I can't have it all, and the battery on the inspire was just a total deal killer.
Welcome to CA... hope my info helps Best of luck to you.
Many thanks for the replies.
Bella, thanks for the welcome, I am in SD.
I checked Craiglist here no Infuse adverts but there are quite a few on Ebay.
Another option would be to just pay the $199 to ATT for the Infuse and renew for another 2 years. Its part of a family plan so its unlikely we will change anytime soon.
I will put the Iphone which I think will be brand new in its sealed box, on Ebay. I assume when you sold yours on Ebay you did not allow for any returns?

Yeah SD is harder for CL because it's not that huge of a town. I used to live there.
The average price on Ebay for brand new infuse is at about $505... don't buy unlocked because it's a simple script to get your unlock code so you're paying for something that's free, hehe.
Regarding your iPhone.... yeah ebay on both mine. If you start them at $0.99 there's no insertion fee (hehehe, insertion fee, lol)... and it'll sell quick. They rape you on the final value fee, but it is what it is. I've been selling on eBay for years, and I never have offered returns (most ebay sellers don't)... it just turns you into a rental office if you offer people to try something then return it. lol
Thanks for the advise. I will hopefully the Iphone 4 in hand early next week.
I will then decide what route to take.
Hi Bella,
I just sent you a PM requesting some advice.
Thanks
I recently switched over from the Galaxy S i9000 which was a great phone, but this phone is just that much better. The Infuse phone feels smoother than my i9000 ever did with any custom rom or overclocked kernel, and to think we don't even have voodoo or any OC kernels on this device yet. It is definitely worth it. I upgraded my phone on the costco website for $129 which was a steal for this phone, best buy has the upgrade for 149.99. Glad i bought it, the screen is AMAZING.
I did an exception upgrade and paid $299, they added $100 for the early upgrade since it was less than six months out.
So Verizon has now announced they will cap data which makes this even harder.
The price of the charge is too much currently because I don't have a job. Hopefully will have one here soon but that is still any where from 2 - 4 weeks from a possible first pay check.
I would like to have the charge but unless the price drops tomorrow I am not sure it will happen. I want to get grandfather with unlimited data hopefully and was wondering should I wait a risk it or go for a sub $200 phone?
If so which one?
Wait
Sent from my SCH-I510 using XDA Premium App
Well depends on what you are looking for. I could have waited, but the 4.3" SuperAmoled screen, the hard buttons, and the camera/camcorder sold me. To me that made sense instead of waiting on this Bionic that may surface later, with probably the same crappy motorola camera. Beleive me, I have had original Droid and Droid X and although great phones I still love my Droid Charge over them. I have grown to love Samsung phones.
Well I would love the charge for the screen and 4g capabilities but at the same time it is still new and has its issues.
The reason for me having to wait would be for a job and to get the money to pay for it. My parents are will to pay for a sub $200 smart phone. They both have the Droid X's.
Is the wait for 4g worth it or for the next two years will 3g still be the leader or will 4g have taken over? With the charge part of the thought was that I would be future proofing myself you could say for the 4g to come.
Not sure if this changes your situation at all, but costco has the Charge for 179.99 which is by far cheaper than everywhere else. Just got mine yesterday. Great deal plus you get 90 days to exchange the phone if you don't like it. I will likely never get a phone through anyone but Costco going forward as long as this policy and their great pricing is in place.
How would I go about getting it from there if I already am on a plan with Verizon and I just want to upgrade my phone?
sam's
Sam's is actually cheaper than Costco, cause they give you a sale price and not a rebate, they dont charge tax on the full 300 like Costco.. that being said.. Costco does free activation and free accessories.
Also online from Sams it is 130. In store still 175.
Is it possible to get the phone itself and upgrade or do you have to get the plan through store? Cause if so I don't think that will work for me.
Costco has this phone on sale(until Jul6th or 7th I think) for $179.99, they give a free extended warranty, free car charger, 2 free screen protectors and a free leather case that clips onto your belt(that's where I got my charge, I really only cared about the discount but look at all the free crap!) Also I think Amazon just lowered their price of the Charge to $179.99 as well, just doesn't come with free crap.
I could have waited for the Galaxy S2 to hit Verizon(or the U.S. in general) but that seems to be ages away, especially considering the tiered data plans are coming on the 7th, same reasons I didn't wait for the Bionic, and neither of them have physical buttons(the GS2 has a physical home but the other 2 are capacitive and that sucks.. seriously that would have been a flawless phone if they hadn't done that)
Thanks to you guys telling me about the other sites selling the charge for cheaper then from Verizon I was able to order it today.
i want to but a one x but i was wondering about the price drop for the mobile will it go to lower than 600$ after the SG3 is uncovered
and i would like to know if the video recording issue of 23 frame rate is a software or hardware related issue
I don't see the price dropping on the HTC unless the SG3 is ridiculously nice.
It's pointless to speculate when we don't even know the release date of the SG3.
i think the SG3 is on 3 may i dont think there will be much different between the two devices except the SG3 will have a better battery and better graphics and a micro sd while the design will be cheap looking as usual
i don't think that price go down so fast
but i hope it.
It really depends, actually. I know where I lived, the Nexus's price went down in about a month.. but that was with a different carrier. As one lead, the others eventually followed. I guess it just depends on timing.
I say sgs2 for right now and wait for stable roms to come out for the sg3

I could see this dropping maybe $50-$100 when the SG3 is actually released, the unveiling is May 3rd. As for the HTC One-X I dont see that dropping in price until HTC released a couple other phones later in the year.
if i sold it here on xda on the marketplace do you think 400 is a fair price?
need some opinions especially if you have sold phones on here before. If you dont think thats a good price what would your opinion be?
Ive had it since release day the thing is in amazing shape maybe a few light light scratches on the battery cover if you look hard but nothing besides that.
It comes with:
the really nice screen protector from the mall i think its invisible shield
otterbox commuter case
GSP case
32GB sdcard
Galaxy nexus extended battery
stock battery
original box with all manuals and unused headphones
official samsung hml to hdmi cable
kinda want an s3 so might sell it if i can get a good chunk of change lol
Sell it for higher. The phone itself should be about $350. SD Card is $60 if it's Class 10. Invisibleshield is $30. And the other things, I don't know.

Can buy it NIB on Amazon for $350, I wouldn't pay more than about $200 for a used one.
Accessories might entice someone to buy but don't add much to the overall value.
RE: Price
You can get used ones on eBay for $300 so with your accessories id say a fair price is more like $350
yeah 300 for the used. Might sell it for 330-350 if its in really good condition. I personally dont care about extra accessories. They just simply dont add any value to your phone. At least when sell people seems like yeahh whatever i just need the phone.

Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using Tapatalk 2
I'd say between $250 and $300 depending on the condition, scratches, nicks etc.
I agree, accessories have no value on used items.
Why are you selling this awesome phone?
I had put mine as "feeler" for 340$ including the US only shipping charges and insurance .. Had to deal with few tire kickers in the market place section here on xda ... Then I deleted my post and what I can see is that I would be for sure a complete dump if I sell this awsome phone for 200$ or 250$ ... Never worths it..
Yeah thats always the case. Once you buy a phone a new one comes out and brings down the value.
Overall the i727 is still a good phone and not worth selling for $250. I would have sold mine for $400 if i could and bought the S3.
im currently selling my skyrocket on craigslist for $320. saw a couple of ads the prices range from 400 for unused and 300 to 350 for used. Some of them have scratches and about 6 to 5 month old. My phone is about one a half month old with 0 scratches . So far its kinda going slow I bet if I'll lower a price below 300 thing would go smoothly. Let's see... I once managed to sell used Kindle fire for 180 !!! who knows crazy people out there.

I got my skyrocket off of Craigs list for 300 and it came with box and usb and charger plus it also came unlocked and its in mint condition just a small Nick on the bottom left can't even tell its there so I'd say 300 to 340 maybe 350 if it Comes with all thoes accessories I would pay like 340 or 350

Selling a skyrocket
I live in a small town in the middle of nowhere, but I hopped on Craigslist instead of going with a traditional online sale, and I got $350 out of my skyrocket with very minimal scuffs on the battery cover, a defender otter box, an invisible shield and the charger. Depending on where you are, you may consider that, I'd imagine a bigger town might turn a little better profit than the rednecks I live around. :good:
I call bs on the fact that accessories dont matter mine would come with 48gbs compared to 16... I took the case off and the phone is actally flawless no scratches I posted it in the for sale section:

Note 3 launched in September at around £600, I bought mine last week brand new for £429 sim free from Scan only 3 months after launch, it seems a couple of places are selling the Note 3 for under £500 aswell, why has the price suddenly dropped so much?.
I had a iPhone 5S 32GB prior to the Note 3, as i wanted to give iOS a try, after being with Android for years, but my love affair with Apple didn't last long and it was sold & only loosing £50 when i sold it, which paid for both the Note 3 & a Moto G 8GB.
With the price dropping like it is, it doesn't bode well for resale value next year, as I'm one of those that like to sell my handset to paid towards the next latest & greatest, which will either be the S5 or Note 4, probs more likely the Note 4 now.
Samsung phones always drop in price very quickly. .. especially compared to iPhone.

Because all lose it's price.. cars.. pc.. all.. the time of life of a phone is 1 year.. over that it won't be produced, and price goes to 1/2 of the initial..
Iphone is the ONLY ONE "CHEAP" PRODUCT witch doesen't decrease it's value.. why? Because people are stupid and pays an higher price only to have a phone..
When i traded in my S2 for a S3 resale value on the S2 was still very good at the time, if i had sold it i would have gotten more.
It seems since the S3 resale value on all Galaxy phones have really taken an hit, those with a S4 that plan on selling next year for the S5 will probably get next to nothing for it being only a 16GB device.

The actual reason might not be so much the specific model, but instead the sheer volume of those devices - Samsung made at least twice more S3 devices (most of those sold very early) than S2 (which still saw a lot of later models for other markets, but those were already re-positioned clearly below the original top-level price).
€470 in Germany,
€687 in Netherlands
And people wonder why I don't buy my hardware here?
Anyway, prices always drop rather quickly on nearly all devices after a few months. Apple being the exception because they know they can ask 100% even after two years and their customers are stupid enough to pay it. They pay it for a 'new' device, too. Even if it's identical to the last 3.
Probably because of knox.
Lest you forget, ppl buy samdung's fone so they can install custom rom to utilise their great hardware.
with knox, tripping it will void warranty(and resale value) and stock TW is full of bloatware lagging the phone like a snail.
samdung's note3 with knox and no way of removing it,is akin to apple telling u how to hold ur phone for a better reception.
very soon, they are going to lose more customers thanks to knox.

Knox has nothing to do with it, 99% of people that buy Samsung smartphones don't care if it has Knox or not most probably don't even know what it does or even know it there.
You could trip the Knox 0x1, and still sell it on as normal, as most buyers won't even notice it as they don't go customizing or use it's security features.
It won't drop anymore now until the Note 4 and even after it's release for a little.
Samsung phones always come very expensive, reduce to a lower price (but still expensive) after a few months and stay there until they are discontinued.

It was £475.00 back in September.
It is now selling at £412.00. Since November.
I guess that the market is now flooded with millions of Note 3, thus the price dropped.
It is good for the consumers. So, I don't care a **** because I bought a phone to use it and not to worry about its resale value in the future.

Hey! Also bought mine from Scan UK via their eBay store (by the way, never buy from SimplyElectronics, don't be tempted by the cheap prices).
Been using it and can see myself using this device for at least a year and a half. I tend to swith to new one every year. Upgrading from a Nexus 4.
Now regarding the price drop, several factors to take into consideration:
* This is Samsung. They can afford to drop the price, and still grab marketshare and get a profit.
* The holiday season!
* Knox

After i bought it they dropped the price to £424 for a few days on ebay, on their own site they are selling it for £453 last time i checked, I went to pick mine up rather than have it delivered as I'm only 20 mins drive away from place.
As for Simply Electronics I'm surprised this company still allowed to trade as a UK base company, because they pretend they based in the UK, when really they based in Hong Kong, and all there stuff you order and eventually get weeks after if you get it at all that is are grey imports, plus because they based in Hong Kong you will have no protection under the UK Sale Of Goods Act if something goes wrong & you try to get it sorted under warranty then forget it, but yet thousand of people each year are duped into the low prices & Trading Standards don't seem to do anything about them.
