S4 Optical Reader demo - Galaxy S 4 Themes and Apps

Hey all thought some may like a look at how the Optical Reader works, its very clever not always 100% accurate but the promise is there.. and translation is kinda cool.

Thanks, I had already forgotten about this app. I should be able to make good use of it.

Dear all,
Galaxy Note is best tablet to take note, but i've seen a good app to take a diagram like mindmap. So anyone has a idea or has a app to do it?
Thanks so much

I usually just uncheck screenorientation and then use snote in "landscape" i find snote better cos it has other cool features. I have physics course at school now and I honestly have no idea on the math part cos its been 2 years since my last physics course. Luckily I just bought my note 10.1 and I do all my homework (when I do) with it and when im on a lesson im the first one to finish our tasks cos i use snote my teacher asked me how i suddenly can do it so fast and i told her that im just so freaking good. I'd like to see her face when shes checking my exam which I obviously have to do without my note.. that's a little off topic but I find it to be a very good example on how good our device actually is

Okie guy, Note 10.1 is useful for study, however, i think Snote should have much more improved.
In my job, i have a lot of meeting and i often use mindmap to take notes. So i'm looking forward a useful application to do that.
thanks for sharing!!! ...

Yeah it could be much better I agree hope they develop snote more cos it has a lot more potential than it actually shows right now. Maybe the most important feature for me is splitscreen which sadly doesnt work on other applications..

Did anyone come to any further conclusions. I've had a look around the play store, and the main options I can see that remain even remotely affordable are:
- mindmeister
- simplemind
- iMindMapHD (more pricey)
- connected mind
- snote with shapes enabled (I find these hard to edit)
But none claim any form of stylus support
Any feedback on which are the most usable for quick editing, navigation, use of handwriting (to name a node, or add notes to a node) and especially any comments on whether or not the spen helps

Hi,
I try iMindmapHD, however it doesn't support spen. Now, i usually use Qill App to draw and take notes. This application supports to draw lines and shapes too. I can try.
Have fun.
Mindjet
I've been using the Mindjet program in windows version for years. I've tried many Android apps, but I went back to Mindjet because
1. It works the way I do.
2. You can customize the look a great deal.
3. You can standardize node to make it easier to recognize later.
4. The files are compatible with the Windows version.
Your mileage may vary.

Interesting idea, but the app is £5.50, has no comments & minimal description -- though the pictures look nice
Any app at that price needs either a demo period and/or restricted free version so that the user can see if it's suitable
http://elevenworks.com/touchdraw-features/ gives some info (though android isn't listed on their website), though again it's unclear how usable the s-pen might be, or the app generally.
I've sent them some questions at https://twitter.com/touchdraw

It'll help, but not make it free. He stated the cost of TouchDraw is £5. On the market here in Canada the cost of the app is $13.50.
With that said, how do I get this $5 USD voucher?

Galaxy S4 Complete Video Review (Full HD)

Hey Guys,
This is my Video Review of the Galaxy S4.
Hope you find it useful

Most excellent! Can you upload some of the full size photos to dropbox and share it here or in the photo thread? Also, pls share you opinion on how fast shutter response is, do you use night mod, sport mode for motions etc, anything camera related.
Good video, but the audio is painfully low. Maybe it should have been recorded with boomsound. Lol
I kid. I'm not trolling, just saw this on front page of xda app, and figured I'd watch it (though I am leaning more toward the One). Honestly good video, though. Good enough to make a die-hard HTC fan (myself) pause and think twice.

New ad from samsung

Here is a new ad from Samsung that show us why all the "gimmicks" of the phone are not gimmicks at all:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DlXp41WwpOs
lol. ouch for iphone ha

Thats a brilliant advert to be honest.
Sent from my GT-I9505 using Tapatalk 2
Still getting used to the "gimmicks" but from my experience if I wanted to answer a call like that'd I'd be swiping over and over and over, until eventually I give up and just grease up the phone Also the camera modes would be "Wait, wait...picking a mode, wait a second, wait...okay...go!"
This is probably just due to me not being used to it - somewhat getting the hang of the head tilting/scrolling now - but definitely not as fluent as they make it seem!
The funniest thing about that style of commercial from Samsung is that they are beating Apple with their own stick! It's a direct play off of the Apple vs Windows "cool kid" commercials.
The ad is awesome

Whether you agree or not, Samsung has illustrated how these features ARE useful. Will it be used daily, of course not. What feature is? I like that it is available when I DO need it. Why bash something you're not interested in? I just don't get it. Your argument is only what the reviewers say. The average person is not reading a tech site. I own a nexus 4, note 2 and the s4. I read all of the tech sites. I have an appreciation for adding features that are useful in particular scenarios.
Question is not whether they are gimmicks or not, question is whether this is a good commercial? Whether this ad will allow Samsung to sell more GS4's?
The answer is a big YES!
Lol that iphone... no no no your phone doesnt do that! Really made me day! Hahahahaha
Excellent commercials lol

Good mind mapping app?

Can anyone recommend a good mind mapping app for android? I've looked at imindmap but it seems kind of expensive for my needs. Just need something that's fairly simple to use and will allow me to insert images and links, as well as label the branches themselves.
Thanks in advance

Been testing out simple mind, it's ok I guess but a little intuitive in places, especially when it comes to drop box syncing.
Mind jet kept giving me an error when I tried to register so I can't even test it.
Thanks for the suggestions so far though

Not seeing that in the play store even when searching from play.google.com - could you provide a link if it is in the play store? When I tried it as "dropmind" nothing and as "drop mind" it comes up with SimpleMind which has a free and paid version.
DropMind doesn't have an android app. You can connect to their service for free with the browser. Not a good option if you have a wi-fi only tablet like me.

There are two mind mapping apps made for android smart phones.first is Mind Map Memo and the second one is the Thinking Space. These apps supports some functionality such as add and rearrange topics, attach notes to topics and attach hyperlinks to topics.

1000s of potential uses above and beyond cell phone technology. Can you imagine a firearm that has an NFC unit in the handle that only will fire if the shooter has the correctly coded NFC ring? A car that will only start if a person with an NFC ring pushes a button to start it? Yea, it's not perfect, but the potential is there.

Ditto. I don't even wear my wedding ring, but I backed the Alpha one a a few weeks ago and besides it being thicker it kind of looks like my wedding ring, haha.
BUT, here’s my concern for us S4 owners. Have you ever watched John McLear’s (NFC Ring creator) video of him unlocking the Nexus 7? The beauty of this video is that not only can it unlock and bypass a PIN (as I’ve been able to do with the S4 in my video), but once your NFC ring is removed it locks it back up! I couldn’t find any NFC mods that enable “NFC Removal” detection for the S4 yet so I’m wondering how McLear plans to package the ring.
OK. Just did a little digging and found that they now have an Xposed mod for this. I’LL BE TRYING THIS OUT THIS MORNING! Hopefully it works.
that thing is cool. never even knew there are so many nfc functions.
