Hi,
I tried that option also but still it is taking.
Thanks.

Enable advanced reboot from developer options, then reboot into download mode from power button as normal. Or just reboot into download mode using ADB
It could be a hardware failure in your device ..

hello,
To get "dowload mode" press "power button"+"volume button down"

For ADB from your computer type
adb reboot download
Of course you should have adb SDK tools on your computer first and have Samsung drivers installed if Kies is not installed.
For advanced reboot options, it is based on what ROM you are running .. Generally, go to settings=>developer options=>enable advanced reboot
You should get the option to reboot to download mode when you press the power button=>reboot

you can find everything about ADB here

Your doing exactly like in this video?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pAvze-VNzj8

Look it's pretty simple
Power button plus volume up (volume button closest to power button) takes you to recovery
Power button plus volume down (volume button furthest from power button) takes you to download mode
FYI, folks with a 10", your volume buttons are the reverse of the 7" volume buttons.

Fix
Just install PDANet drivers from here: http://pdanet.co/a/
Then install PDANet on your Tab on Play Store.
Go to ADB Command on Platform Tools by pressing on the carpet Shift + Right Click : Open a Command Box here...
Finally write: adb reboot download.

Downloadmode does not work after failed installation of cyanogenmod
I have the same issue after failed cyanogenmod installing. I tried to put it into download mode with all of the button combinations, but it does not work. How can i fix it? Forcing to download mode or something like that. (I dont have recovery file.) Is ti possible to recover it directly to cyanogenmod?
It say: "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again.".

Download mode
Hi! I've lost more than an hour trying to enter in download mode on a Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 GT-P3110
Finally I've discovered a silly thing - The USB cable must be DISCONNECTED from the tablet, when entering the download mode. Otherwise, the battery charging logo will popup an the tablet will keep restarting!
Hope this helps someone somewhere...

Anyone know a soluction to my problem?
Can you get to Download mode...home+volumedown+power button combination??
Is that the same way as going into boot mode?

so if you can enter download mode there is no problem, just install new rom ...
when i try to install a new rom with odin it gives me a massege "connect a telephone" but it is connected through usb..
i got the ops file in odin and by "one package" i put the md5 file.
But then i get that massege "connect a telephone"
Try an other USB-port, make sure Kies is not running and use Odin 4.43.
i dont have kies on the computer and i use odin 4.43.
i tried another usb port but no changes..

Yeah but such a problem seems to occur relative often.
I would try to reinstall drivers, maybe with the Kies-drivers or use another computer.
I have similar problem. There is the same symptoms.
I have try:
- other usb ports
- other drivers (original samsung / kies drivers)
- other pc
- kill kies processes
- misc roms
and.. nothing..
I cant get recovery mode.. There is ramdump mode instead of recovery :/
Actually my i9001 is bricked and I cant load any rom..
Maybe my sgs is locked by bootloader or something?
if ure entering ramdump mode then u dont have the correct combination of buttons down when booting up:
Vol + / Power = Recovery Mode
Vol + / Home / Power = Ramdump Mode
Vol - / Home / Power = Download Mode
cheers

At least your guide on how to get to recovery is a big fail. That works with I9000, not I9001. Vol + / Power, WHEN the samsung text appears, release both buttons. AND when the lights in the softkeys turn on, quickly tap MENU, that's how to boot to recovery mode
well sorry if i left that part out, i assumed he would know how to navigate the recovery mode once he actually got the button combo right. and the only fail here is ur rude attitude, deff. no need for that around here imho.
aside from that, all these instructions are correct.
cheers

I solved the problem.
Unfortunately not on my PC. My i9001 needed a box which I solved all mistakes.
Now I have Gingerbread with root
Unfortunately I still hav a problem with my PC which doesn't want connect with sgs.. :/
I will try trial and error method.

Why can't I get into download mode?!

Hey everyone! I have a rather weird situation here. For the past couple months I had been running the SkyICS rom and it had been working great. Then I found out that the official ICS update was being released and so I wanted to switch over to it. I went through the process of using Odin to flash the 2.3.5 rom back onto it and it worked out great, but then when I loaded up Kies it says "Your device does not support software upgrading via Kies" when the update is only to be done via Kies. I figured maybe I could reflash the rom through Odin and try again just in case, but when I try to put in Odin mode, it goes to stock Android recovery. WHAT HAPPENED TO DOWNLOAD MODE?! Obviously I can't use Odin to fix that. If anyone could lend a hand here that would be awesome. I have already tried pulling out the battery and restarting it that way, but to no avail. It is the i727 from AT&T. If you need more info I would gladly oblige you.
Thanks in advance!!!
P.S. I have attached a picture to show that it is going to stock recovery instead of download mode. Everything else seems to work alright besides that previously mentioned.

To get to download mode I leave the device unplugged, power it off, and then hold power+volume up+volume down until the first time it says Samsung. Then I would plug it in once it brings up download mode.
Turn it off then try holding volume up and down then plug it in without pressing power button.

This is why it was going to recovery. Vol up + volume down + power will always go to recovery. To go to download mode you leave the power button out of it.

Same trouble... I am not able to enter download mode now with skyrocket and ics 4.04.
I am trying the steps:
1) Phone off.
2) Press up and down <NO PRESSING POWER>. Nothing happened. I have waited like a min and nothing. Now, silly question, does the cellphone needs to be turned on? If that's the case, if the cell phone is ON, when I press the combination of volume up and down, the next screen ends on recovery :S.
Someone can advice?
Thank you!

You gotta plug that phone into the usb first and make sure the drivers are installed, then you repeat what you've been doing. Make sure use the cable that came with the device. Hope this helps.

You'll need to install the Android SDK, and modify environment variables to make it easy to use ADB and fast boot commands. If that all sounds like a bit much, which it should unless you're going to do development or your buttons are borked, just stick with the previous methods. I've always done the following: Power off phone, plug it into computer, press and hold power button+VolUP+VolDown until it vibrates, release power button while continuing to hold VolUP+VolDown. Should get you into the bootloader where you can use the volume buttons to select an option and the power button to execute.
(I cannot be held responsible if the aforementioned damages your device; do the research and own the process.)
I'm always glad to help..but elaborate what ?
You just need to download a simple folder containing the adb command (5 small files) and put it like in root of c:
Install the skyrocket USB driver on your computer
Enable USB debugging mode in phone
Now connect the skyrocket to computer
Don't activate USB storage
Open command prompt by going to start menu then run command and type "cmd"
In command prompt do "cd" at the location of where you put the adb folder....so like :
C:/cd adb
C:/adb/adb reboot download
That's all
PS: you can also do"adb reboot recovery" to reboot to recovery..
This will save your buttons big time from the funky way of pressing volume up and down simultaneously...I never rebooted into recovery or download using the phone keys...even in Android I use app called"quick boot" needs root but I can reboot into anything by touching that option...

[Q] Can't root galaxy tab 2

Power off your tab. Hold volume down and power button to boot into download mode.

Yes, but in the videos which show how to root, they go into download mode by pressing power + vol. up button. The thing is that i don't see a download menu option, it takes me straight to the other menu, where you choose the update and reboot etc. options. I need a way to get the download menu or a other way, like using cynogen mod or something similar.
So It's not recovery mode. Thank you.

CF-AutoRoot.
If you can't make that work, then you really shouldn't be trying to root your tablet.
Edit: unless it's a SCH-i915 (Verizon Galaxy Tab 2). As far as I know, nobody has a root method yet. Which Tab 2 are you trying to root?

[Q] How to root when you can't get download mode? 4.2.2

Okay, I've got this Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 that's been updated with the OTA 4.2.2 update that will not turn off. I want to sell it but I don't want the new owner bugging me about it not being able to turn off. So I decided to root it and put Cyanogen Mod on it but I can't get it into download mode to flash it. I can only get it into ADB sideload from the stock recovery. Also, I can't even find the option to put it in USB debugging mode.
So my question is what's the best way to root and add CWM to this device while it's like this? I would download ROM Manager from the Playstore to start the process but I'm afraid it will brick the device. When I tried to flash the CWM zip to root it from the stock recovery I get an error saying it was unsigned or something to that affect. I've rooted many devices but this one is driving me nuts! What a screwed up update.

Are you able to reboot your tab when pressing power for some time?
Are you holding the right buttons to enter into download mode? (Holding Power + Volume-UP)
In order to enable debugging on the Tab 2, you must go to Settings>>About Tablet. Keep tapping on "Build number" then eventually the Developer Options tab will display on the left. Tap on Developer Options and you will see on the right where you can enable USB debugging mode.

I have a p5113 and to get into recovery is Power + Vol down. Download mode is Power + Vol up. If you are able to get into recovery I know something that may work for you. This will install Philz Touch Recovery. I use it and it works well. Download the .zip file pertaining to your device (p5113).
- Download Philz Touch Recovery (.zip): http://d-h.st/users/philz_touch/?fld_id=16057#files
- Download SuperSU (.zip): http://download.chainfire.eu/372/SuperSU/UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.86.zip
Copy the .zip files to your device's microSD card and flash philz touch from Recovery Mode. Reboot back into Recovery Mode and flash the SuperSU .zip file. This should root your device.
Yea bro but he is also unable to boot into recovery dont know what problem is this. But I m sure it is boot loader problem.

I was finally able to fix the problem with not being able to shut down. I finally got the device into download mode after several tries. Once I saw that I quickly opened up ODIN and flashed clockwork mod recovery. After flashing that it shut down properly afterwards. I have shut it down 5 times in a row now and it shuts down and stay shut down every time. Im totally satisfied with that! Thanx for all you guys help.
I got it into download mode by plugging in, and shutting it down until I got to the battery charging icon (will only shut down plugged in after 2 or 3 attempts). After about 30 seconds hold down the power button and the volume down button simultaneously until the warning screen comes up. The tap volume up (button closest to the power button).
Victory
