Mozilla's FirefoxOS posible tu port on sensation xe etc....??? - HTC Sensation

hyee every one em not a developer and not have such information i read in on xda portal tht Mozilla's FirefoxOS is availble for htc hd2 my question is that is possible to port this os to our device??? yeah on hd2 its alpha and sum bugs i read but and also i saw why lots of good romz are not available for sensation like Lawa or baidu i use these on my Noir a10 clone like micromax canvas 2 in india and etc...thx in advance...

I don't think it's possible
Firefox OS > HTML5 based
Android OS > LINUX based
And about the roms : the problem that this is a dying device. But every once in a while we see something new. So it depends if the developers have time or not

1)_Ok so i obviously changed it becouse i liked its specs more, but as it is known specs are not all that matters so tell me what you think about this device and what i have gotten myself into, by getting one.
2)_I was with xda for over a year now with my x10, so i know basics (Such as what rom is, why y need to unlock bootloader, whats up with phone rooting , and generally all basics about flashing.) Please gimme some tips bout what Custom kitchenware you use to Flash whose fresh ROM's to your devises, and which rom would be best for starters (most stable compared to perfomance) (would be best ics if its complete on this device, couse its not on x10)
Please dont rage on me much couse i come with love. And i will be staying with this development section of Desire S for some time now

Welcome :good: You need to read, read and read some more.
There are some great ROMs out there. If you want stability then stick with a GB-based one for the moment (Reaper for non-Sense and Endymion for Sense). If you want to be a bit more adventurous then try Fallout v5.0, based on the ICS RUU.
TO learn what you are doing - there are plenty of guides out there so make sure you read and understand exactly what you are doing and why before you risk doing anything to your phone.
Gratz on getting yourself the Ds, first if all!
1. First of all, by getting the mobile you just got into friendliest forum in xda!
2. And Secondly, before you start asking questions, there's some comprehensive guide about the specs, guides and tutorials, info, etc stickied in the general section
Edit : ah already see Simon has beat me to the welcoming committee

Thx for kind words of welcome, and just so to let you know i am reading all the beginers guides (not done yet). And at the same time i saw that ICS is officially on this phone now. So i am trying to install it but as it seems i need adb drivers and i have some difficulty finding them on my windows8. I found some for windows 7 but is says unsuported os on win8
UPDATE: grabed my Moms laptop with win7 and started to install this official ICS, but i cant keep doing that every time i need to flash rom (mom would come and turn it off right in middle )
Welcome, see link in my signature for the INDEX thread that should hopefully contain links to all you seek.
I'll echo what is said above in read read and read some more
Enjoy and there is an OFF TOPIC thread for social chat etc
Sywepd form my DsereiS
Hello man)
ROM installed on my device is ICE_DS 5.0 with kernel Tweaked 7.1 (battery life is great!)
ROM on 4.0.4 version need update manualy.
p.s. its older to buy
hey there, welcome to the club! if you want great stability and also ICS experience, and don't want to experiment, you can also flash Ice Cream Saga v1. you get the latest HTC stock rom, rooted, with only the most basic tweaks. you can customise it if you wish with amidabudha's tweaked kernel or leave it as it is.

Hi Kesh,
When you post a link, it gives you the option to change the text that appears 'above' the hyperlink . Well worth using the feature as it shows people exactly what you are linking to, rather than just the actual URL.

[Q] How to port from a device with different hardware?

Hey XDA,
I have been around for a while, gone through two phones and have had no problems rooting, flashing ROMs, etc. thanks to all of the amazing people on the site. I have come to a point though, that I am interested in learning to port ROMs (and maybe even build a ROM from AOSP, but I am taking this one step at a time). I have looked all over the Chef Central -> Android section and the Q & A section and have been unable to find a solid guide on porting ROMs from a device with different hardware than the device you want to port to. I am sorry if this has been answered elsewhere and I try to contribute as much as I can. I hope I am not inconveniencing anyone too much. If a thread already exists that can help me out, I would greatly appreciate a link, then you can close this thread.
I am only trying to port between the ATT and internation GS3s, so it shouldn't be too hard, right?
The ROM I am trying to port is PA 2.99 beta8.
Thanks,
#TekGadgt

I will give it a go! Thanks. I had noticed this one, but was unsure if it would work between devices with different hardware. I see now that it does. I will work on that ASAP. One more question though, what do you do about devices with different resolutions? I noticed the guide is for devices with the same resolution.

[Completed] Help in Porting To Cyanogen

Hey, Guys
im a total noob in programming and stuff :silly:
but im very much interested in mobiles and technology
I wanted to port Cyanogenmod to my htc desire 826(only china and india release, so i figured there will be no further updates from htc )
I saw many guides for noobs but they said base rom shouldnt be stock, and please correct me if i am wrong that port rom should be pure
So if base rom shouldnt be stock then i cant use the rom in htcdev
and it is written any other rom(cyanogen?) for same soc(snapdragon 615) and resolution(1920X1080)
there is no rom available like that the closest i found was yu yureka plus but the rom there itself is for both the 720p and 1080p resolution( project-tomato just made the account so outside links restricted )
also it is from a different manufacturer
Please guys help me it will be much appreciated
Also too I have been following xda for a long time
Also which method should i follow??
P.S.
Guys i really like all this stuff can you please tell me where should i start learning it and to understand android code
Also built universal apps that run across all three platforms
Thanks guys your help will be much appreciated :fingers-crossed: :fingers-crossed:

Thanks I'll give it some research before I install anything I'm having problems in the md5 matching that's main reason that I'm so hesitant on installing a new ROM as this in my first time doing it
Dont completely understand how it works yet so need to learn more before I install anything thanks

Mike,
XDA forum is not your back yard where you can "command" and then whine about not getting the answer quickly. Be thankful that we have XDA assist to help lazy people like yourself to make your phones "cool".
If you thought for one second that we are here to provide you customer service, you are gravely and sadly mistaken.
I am going to excuse your tone with our support team this one time.
Please use the search function and find answers for yourself, and if you do not find an answer, the only reason would be that you did not search hard enough!!
Thanks.
For one thing go **** u think u can talk to me like that I was pointing out facts about what IV seen and experienced on here if u think that I'm lazy go take Ur phone bend over and ask Ur team for some assistance I work to much to have time to fiddle around with silly little school girls moaning if about I ask a question I expect it to be answered and been polite or I'll give them some kind words just so u remember who pays Ur wages

Android Go :V

There is still any dev for janice? :silly:
As some of u know, Google is going to release Android Go based on 8.0/8.1 which should work fine on 0,5GB devices, maybe second life for janice?

I think Janice still have some devs on, there was someone working on a 7.1 ROM, maybe we can have hope

I understand, don't worry. :good:
I am disposed to take part in the collect, considering how much as now an s advance costs, wouldn't be so hard to get quickly the money and with very little effort for all.
I think that is a good idea and can really give a new life to our device.
Obviously a spare s advance of a willing and generous user would be the best thing we can hope in, but seems really hard to happen, however, my hope isn't died yet
Maybe on weekend i'll look into what changes are needed to run atleast nougat on it (from source), if this'll work then we'll think about Oreo xD

If you're really interested, I'd suggest to look at the Oreo rom of Chrono:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-ace/ace-2-develop/rom-lineageos-15-0-t3678722
and to look at the Chrono Kernel (compatible with janice but with some bugs):
https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga...tom-kernel-t2793420/post74179403#post74179403
Ace II has the same chip of S Advance (with some code differences) and the dev is very helpful to explain how it works.
Two guys in the same project would be better than one guy on a single project.
As far as I know @sm_adil doesn't reply to any PM and Epirex is busy on his Moto phone.

Yes I agree two or more dev contributing to the same project will be good!!
However if you consider me as fully fledged dev you're wrong I'm more of web developer than android or java. I did build couple of kernel's for testing my skills but than again they were not so stable and I didn't had time to debug it!!
So yeah if get the time I do want to build a ROM for Janice :fingers-crossed:
I've got a Janice right here that I don't use. I'm actually looking right now for a way to root it and install whatever superior than the Gingerbread ROM it currently has, but the point is that it's available for testing purposes. Btw, is it possible to leave a phone number here?

Hi Isaak,
I have a Samsung Galaxy S Advance. I have been looking if anyone developing Android Go support for it. Found your post on the thread, https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s-advance/general/android-t3714953/page2
I want to learn how roms are built and I would like to support in developing Android Go rom for S Advance, if possible. Can you please guide me where I can start?
As per my experience, I have built a modified linux kernel with some modified device drivers and was able to boot it with a debian root filesystem on Freescale SabreLite board. But never built an android rom earlier.
Thanks

You could start from one of these tutorials:
https://nathanpfry.com/category/android/
I'm not good at compiling, I tried it and didn't like it. So I can't help you more than that.
For this reason, with the help of some xda users, I have donated a S Advance to @ChronoMonochrome.
Currently he's actively developing a new kernel and a new rom in this section:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s-advance/development
I think we could expect more roms with higher android versions, so your feedback is important.
