[FAQ][READ THIS] POLL IS UPDATED! come and vote again ;)

Hi all! i wanted to start a FAQ thread because im sick of seeing/reading threads like "what is best custom ROM? please help", "need OC help, please help!" and other very useless threads. i come acrcoss these kind of threads almost every day :/ thats why i want to make this thread to minimize the amount of useless threads
red = question color

FAQ
1.) what ROM is best/stable/battery saver/fastest?
this is the MOST asked question of all time and short answer is: test every available ROM! everybody has their opinion and it is just stupid to make this kind of thread because most likely it is going to end up like this:
user24 says: InDroid is the best use that!
user25 says: lestatious is the best use that!
user26 says: no use kyrillos, its the best!
so DONT post threads like that!
2.) best filesystems to use?
most of the people say its:
stl6 ext4
stl7 ext4
stl8 ext2
3.) what is the best stock ROM?
almost everybody recommends JPM
4.) is there going to be official 2.3?
most likely NO!
5.) im from another SG forum and id like to flash SG3 ROM, can i do it? we have very similar specs
you can do it but it wont work!
6.) OMG, help me, kies wont recognize my phone and i cant revert back to official firmware!
Kies wont recognize your phone if its rooted, if you have flashed a custom ROM or if you have flashed unofficial samsung ROM!, so you need to find out what is the official firmware in your country then find that firmware on www.samfirmware.com and flash it via odin
7.) is it dangerous to flash a custom ROM?
Most likely no but remember you are flashing on your own and the risks are still there no matter what
8.) How to root android 2.2 FROYO?
use super1clickRoot, z4root wont work on 2.2!
9.) how do i know if my phone is hard bricked?
you CANT enter recovery, download (using 3 button (power+vol down+home button)) or boot the phone
10.) my phone CAN enter download mode but cant boot, is it soft brick?
yes it is! just flash another ROM and everything should be ok
ill add more FAQ´s later but now i got other things to do oh and also you can suggest different kind of questions and answers you want me to add

then i reply to that thread with CAPS on and say: !READ FAQ BEFORE POSTING! and if they are blind and cant read my text ill PM mod to delete it

but is still to be confirmed by other users ^^
anyway I don't understand why people get so mad because of such threads, if you hate them, just ignore them. no one forces you to read or even answer
I don't understand why people can't just use the search option as well. as they would geht their answer faster.
but hey, you're on the internet, not everyone's as smart as you. there are stupid users everywhere

when i get confirmation that we will have 2.3 i will update it but now its most likely a no also im not mad im just stunned because there are mny threads like this and that but nobody even cares to search for them and then they spam the forum... this SHOULD decrease haree's job on this forum, he has many, many other forums that he is in charge and with this thread i hope that his job will become easier and the forums will be cleaner
and because there are some lazy guys who cant/wont use the search tool this will most likely answer thse answers

The search tool is useless, if you get even a work wrong you have to wait 30secs and search again which is kinda pretty lame. So this thread is useful, thanks jazux.

true but now i have created poll (will make it public in a minute ) and it has 29 ROMs and 29 options... i looked trough every page on dev section and listed every ROM that is not closed/dead and with dl link available

not all new roms last long you know..
I'm sure after the rom tutorial was out many new roms came up but lasted for less time..(no specific names please!)
So it wont matter much..
But if a new rom was really awesome and worth the entry in the poll haree could add a option(maybe) or could restart the poll with new option(definitely, this can be done by a mod)

yep it took some time but why not? now hopefully we dont need to see any more "what is best custom ROM?" threads

I like all the custom roms
custom rom's are what makes our phone better enough to use

I voted most of the active custom ROM's

my question is "why MARCELLUSBE is still not a recognized developer"...now i know he's too humble and says all these LABELS doesn't bother him...but a little more recognition is necessary..I'm just sayin

hey guys
i want some answers for following questions
1.How to overclock my nexus S and which is stable one?
2.Which is best rom ( i want performance i dont care about UI bcz i will use golauncher so i dont have any problem on UI)
3.If i want can i go back to default rom if i want stock android rom? and also can i make it get warrenty back?
4.How to install custom rom ( step by step for noobs)
5.Tricks and tips related to android
i dont know anything related to custom rom ,flashing , overclocking , kernel etc plz help

Why don't you go over to the FAQ thread? Lot of your questions are answered there.
You say you are a "noob". Then get yourself educated! The information is around, you need just to read it. Even the step by step guides are there. If you are too lazy to even read the stuff that is directly under your nose, then maybe you should get a standard low cost feature phone instead.
Of course you could also get the xda premium membership, where for only 5000$ a month you will get a personal 24/7 support team of experienced professionals taking care of your every wish.

People might help you if you ask nicely and show that you did your homework. They might even do so happily. For your questions:
1. This question is asked about once a week. There are answers.
2. This question is asked about twice a week. There are answers.

i had read lots of thread and searched google lyk hell from 2-3 days i dint get perfect answers for what i wanted thats y i asked here ;(

Most of these questions can be found in the Nexus S forum. It also helps to give details on yer Nexus model and yer carrier when asking for help. Some tweaks only work on certain models. The infamous signal question, well maybe you have a model that allows you to hack it. I don't so I'm still looking. Have fun, and remember to say Please and Thank You. That helps alot when your trying to get help .

now I've searched for roms or kernel stable but I dont have found ...

no problem. I can see how you might be lost. I am on my 3rd android device, and have only had 1 ROM at most for each one. Ive learned patience.
Its just that a lot of XDA n00bs have been coming in and expecting this ROM and that ROM,etc.
what you find is here is about all available.
oh, and questions go in Q&A.
tab plus 3g is an excellent device.

Yes.. I have to keep patience, Its a good device but for now we dont have customization like overclock or cyanogenmod

I have upgraded my Atrix 2 to 4.0.4 and have rooted it.. All i have to do is to install CWM and go for a good custom mod (Pref. Jellybean)
I would like you guys to give some thread links of good custom mods to try out with and also help me how to install CWM.. Thread links would do...
I am nt well versed in these kinda stuffs. i can see n do it perfectly.. All i need is someone to assist to start with.

This belongs in Q&A not general, for future reference. I have reported this to the MODS, so they can move it.

if you're planning to flash jellybean then you need the boostrap from this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=19355021 , with that installed, go to dev section of the forum and d/l a custom rom and flash following steps in the op , remember always to make a backup of your current rom

So, you're not "lazy", just apprehensive. There's nothing wrong with that. However, what we do here on xda isn't to spend time explaining all the pros vs/ cons to all ROMs available, nor is it anyone's assertion as to what the "best" ROM may be -as this is all very subjective to the individual. There's a hefty ROM list of threads in the development section, so it's your responsibility to read over each one (that may strike you as interesting) and make your own assessment to which you may choose.
Also, each ROM thread by our dev team has explicitly detailed installation instructions, so there should be no reason as to why you would run into trouble -so long as you read, re-read, and fully understand what you're getting yourself into.
Also, there's a handy little help thread that I started for any and all questions, problems, etc. So, if you happen to run into anything, feel free to post there. Myself and a few others maintain that thread, so you should expect an answer without the need of posting a new thread each time you have a problem.

hello I needed to post this in this forum because I am new. I need a couple of files if this is okay with you guys.
first my model number for my tablet is gt3113
I need a root file I unroot my tablet but still have clock work mod install.
and I may need a stock rom for the tablet
and now I want the best rom with jellybeans because I tried nightly changed 10.1 and it was really buggy like the boot screen was screwed up and it would do crazy stuff just to put it in development words I want the best rom with jelly bean 4.2.2 and it is in beta or is finished with other support thank you!

see for rooting use cf auto research for iton google and flash it using odin
for rom go to the 7.0 development section . itis full of roms

Sure, and I will tell you more - I still consider myself a newbie. I admit it, and it doesnt offend me. I will never know, or be able to do a fraction of what some people here are capable of, and I am grateful for all this knowledge being shared with everyone. I still try my best to contribute to the community in some ways I can (being just a user, not a dev in any capacity). I dare you: search my posts on XDA, and if you find something as ridiculous as this request, I will publically apologize for being a hypocritic jerk. You already responded to the OP, and his reaction was, basically: "blah, blah, I don't get any of that **** you are talking about, and I don't care, anyway, just give me files, dude". In my books, this is ignorance AND arrogance.
