I used revolutionary to S off my phone, my phone gave me the option to do and over the air update to 2.3.5 I think it was. This would not install, I guess because I S-off'd it. It now no longer give me this option.
Can anyone on give me a link to get the update from and how to use revolutionary to install it, with sense 2.3.5. I could so with it being rooted so I can use internet tethering over bluetooth.

I would recommend rooting your phone. Use superoneclick to do it. This program is pretty easy to use. Download it on your PC, connect your phone and just follow the instructions
if you haven't already:
Use rom manager and install clockworkmod recovery OR
use 4ext recovery updater to install 4ext recovery. 4ext is usually the preferred option
Both these apps can be obtained from the market
Then choose any rom you want from the development section, download the zip and place it on your SD card. Boot into recovery and wipe all your data. Then flash the rom.

Using rom manager I cannot find a HTC shipped version of the ROM. I just want the rom version my over the air update failed to complete, I was hoping if I could install this 2.3.5 using revolutionary it would update properly. I just need to know the right file and where to get it from.
Also if I flash a rom using revolutionary will i loose all my phone setup and data, I know if you do the OTA update all data is preserved.

Ok with rom manager have you chosen the very first option to flash a custom recovery? If not, do it. Secondly, I would recommend you root before doing anything. Use superoneclick on your computer to do so.
Now you have a custom recovery (or should have). What you need to do now:
Download this rom if you want stock.

Put it on your SD card. Then switch off your phone. Once its off hold volume down+power. You'll get into the bootloader. Choose recovery. You should then boot up into clockworkmod recovery. From here, I'd firstly strongly urge you to make a backup. Go to backup and restore and create backup.
Now do a factory reset. After its complete select choose zip from SD card. Then go to the rom you put on the phone. Select yes when you click it. Once its installed, reboot
Done

One last question, will I lose the data and apps off my phone? I know when you do a rom upgrade on the over the air updates, it keeps all your data but will I lose the data on the phone if I do a rom upgrade this way?

You will. But if you root before doing this then you can download titanium backup from the market which will backup all the apps you want to. I believe it's a must have app when changing ROMs. There's also MyBackup Pro which will backup all of your stuff. Don't worry about your contacts though, just make sure they're synced with google in Settings > Accounts & Sync > Google

anyway now im with custom rom and want to go back to stock to receive ota updates.
my phone is rooted and s-off i want to stay s-off with stock rom.
1. is it possible ?
2. will i need to wipe data before the flash?
3. backup needed ?
4. will i get ota updates with stock rom s-off?
5. the ruu is europe 1.47 do i need it to match to my software/radio/hboot?

However, if you want to get ota updates you will need to go s-on and use a RUU, I suggest just getting the latest RUU
My suggesttion, rather leave your phone as is and install a stock pre rooted rom, you can always install the latest stock rom when the OTA is released and its made into a prerooted rom.

@yonigo870 flashing a ruu can actually force you into a bootloop if you flash the wrong RUU the best wasy to get to stock is to flash a pre-rooted stock ROM

here is a few guides to help with that question i don't know anything about rom manager sorry i use 4ext touch recovery
Custom ROMS:
Custom roms can be found in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1146601 or head to the development section.
(Most of these ROMs are pre-rooted, which means that you don't need to root your phone after flashing one of the custom ROM.)
How To: Flash Custom ROMs using Recovery (Method 1)
(You can use your default recovery from Revolutionary tool but I recommend using 4EXTRecovery)
1. Copy your custom ROM "zip" file to your SD card (Root directory).
2. Turn off your phone.
3. Turn on your phone by holding the power button and the volume down button together.
4. Once you see the white screen, choose "Recovery"
5. Make a full wipe/format and clear all cache.
6. Choose "install from sdcard/zip file" and then choose your Custom ROM zip file from your SD card to flash your Custom ROM.
Optional: If you want to use 4EXTRecovery, just flash it like you are flashing your custom ROM(Step 6). Just do it before you flash your new ROM.
How To: Flash Custom ROMs using ROM Manager (Method 2)
(This method might be easier for flashing ROM updates or add-ons)
1. Go to ROM Manager (You can install this software from the Android Market.)
2. If you want to use 4EXTRecovery, please follow steps below, and if you're not using 4EXTRecovery, please skip to step 6)
3. Press your phone's option's button and choose Manual Flash Override.
4. Press OK and choose your phone model.
5. Choose ClockworkMod 3.x (After these steps, your ROM Manager won't ask you to flash new recovery again when flashing new a ROM)
6. Reboot into Recovery and make a full wipe/format and clear all cache then reboot.
7. Now, from your ROM Manager, choose Install ROM from SD Card.
Note: Flashing ROMs can be vary, some custom ROMs may require you to flash some of their own file first. Eg, The LBC Mod ROM requires you to flash "WIPE zip file" before flashing the ROM. Read their instructions carefully to know more.
NOTE: I am not responsible for any faulty or bricked devices after S-OFF or flashing new ROMs. Do it at your own risk.
How To: Flash a ROM in a "Perfect" Way (Method 3 - Recommended)
A great guide from vampire36 for people who encounter the following problems:
1. The ROM you flashed gets stuck on HTC screen (bootloop) while the same ROM works right for others
2. You get the same kernel and radio yet you find your cell to have more battery drain than others
3. Finally some strange force closes and restarts but works perfect for others
So this is basically one of the most perfect way to flash a custom ROM and is a way to help people who face such issues.

You can enter a boot-loop but I've flashed ROMs too many times to remember (stock & MOD) and never truly boot-looped. You may soft-brick your phone however, but with remedy. Rooting phones & flashing ROMs isn't for the faint-hearted. My phone was dead for almost 48 hours (within 24 hours of purchase). That's how I joined XDA.
Scary. Turned out it wasn't hopeless. Within an hour of Temp Root, I had self-styled flashed CWM Recovery (haven't run into the gung-ho method I crafted yet, at least on these forums), proceeded to acquire Permanent Root afterwards and within the week had flashed 4 ROMs. Invented a few tricks myself .
Point is you have to get your hands dirty. That's why you bought the darn phone in the first place! Pull your gloves & get those hands dirty!

yes i've flashed many roms also and have never encountered a boot-loop the only time i got a boot-loop was when i flashed the wrong RUU in the past 48 hours i've changed roms about 20 times

after flashing rom the phone made updates from the market by himself, and now im restoring via titanium and seems like everything is ok...
after that titanium asked me to reboot, and so i did.

maybe its since the backup was on sense 2.1 and now its 3.0

Hello everyone. I'm somewhat of a noob still and I would appreciate any help you could give me.
I'm trying to install the new OTA update that came out today but I'm having issues. I have a rooted One S with TWRP recovery, and everytime I try to install the OTA update it brings me to the TWRP recovery screen. I'm pretty sure this is because I don't have stock recovery. I've even tried "unrooting" with Voodoo Over the Air root, but it keeps bringing me to the TWRP recovery screen.
I rooted my phone with the All-In-One root kit, and I really don't want to lose everything on my device (or have the pain in the butt of restoring everything). Is there another way? Or is there an easy way to reinstall the stock recovery with the AIO kit? I know the AIO kit has the option to install other recoveries, but I'm not sure where to get the stock one.
Please help! I really want to upgrade.

Scroll half way down and you get a list of different steps you may have to do in order to get it done.
Most include installing "OTA RootKeeper" from GooglePlay
Steps vary from how your phone is setup. Stuff like do you have Root, Custom or stock Mod, or CWM or stock recovery. Check it out. I'm trying it now.
(adding more to it so I don't double post.)
I tried the method with Root Keeper, it doesn't seem to work for me. It also seems as though a few others are having the same issue. Someone recommended use an RUU to go completely stock, therein losing all your data unless you back all that stuff up.
I'm going to avoid an RUU at all costs, I hate having to reset up my phone. Plus I just got a XOOM I need to work more on and get setup so I don't want to put more time on the phone than I have to as to take away time from my XOOM.

Hello. Any stock recovery for Ville C2 (One S s3)? I'm looking everywhere and I cannot find. I want to update to JB with OTA
OK got a p900 again and dare I say it's been actually really fun to use again. Everything is more mature, I updated to 5.0.2 I r a the p900 WiFi model however, how do I root again please.
Plus is there any recommended roms? Ideally looking for one with less bloats are to be honest as I find the spend useful to clip ideas whi'e drawing etc from websites and pdf.

There's a recent thread talking about king root working. Not sure the full process though for lollipop as I didn't root lollipop I just went straight to a rooted lollipop ROM.
My advice is download and install TWRP (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2706982), make an nandroid backup and then install the latest version of civs ROM.

I believe there's a guide thread for lollipop and root and you were the last poster in it (http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...guide-install-official-lollipop-p900-t3154362). While I don't know for certain what the answer is for you in the UK I am fairly confident that following the TWRP+Root section in the first post in that thread will work for you.
Just be mindful of the locations you download the TWRP and SuperSu files (you download one to your computer, you download the other to the tablet's SD card). Also pay attention to button combinations in the instructions because they're important (i.e. Power+Home+VolumeDown does something different than Power+Home+VolumeUp !!). Lastly make sure to heed the red text in the instructions too because if you allow the tablet to reboot prior to installing SuperSu then you'll likely end up in a bootloop and have to get back into stock recovery and restart the process again (worse, you may even have to wipe the device clean using Kies).
Good luck.

Thank you, if I root can anything bad go wrong?
Do I get the original samsung rom and then flash back to stock if needed?.
Also does Wanam Xposed work with Lollipop, want to download an adblocker for my tablet and grant sd access.
To be honest given your apprehension I'm of the mind that if your best course of action is going with the custom ROM. I would root using the documented method first, install Titanium Backup once your stock ROM is rooted and then do a full backup of your apps. I would also do a full backup of your system in TWRP. If you're pressed for space after that then copy the backup files off of the device onto your computer before erasing them.
Once your backups are done (and I'm presuming you want to back things up first) then proceed with doing the Civs ROM install. This will get you Xposed framework and adblocking installed without any need for you to do the installs yourself. It keeps you out of trouble and best of all the support thread for his ROM is still active.
As for downloading the orginal ROM that's up to you . . doing the full backup in TWRP of your original rooted ROM is usually sufficient.
Keep in mind the methods I'm describing assume that you're not concerned with Knox or warranty status.

I went throught the steps and now my Note is stuck on the Samsung logo??
Please help stuck on Samsung animation???
Boot back into recovery (power+home+volume up). Which recovery comes up? If recovery doesn't go back into download mode and try flashing TWRP usin odin again.

Yes because the second one is stock rooted (as the title indicates) and you are already stock rooted.
At this point I hope you are aware that installing the ROM will erase all of your settings and applications, right?

I was given the device last year and had been fairly satisfied with the performance of it. However, it has gotten laggy over the past couple weeks and a friend suggested to root and flash a rom on it. So, without any prior knowledge, I have been doing some research and browsing through the threads on this forum. I can see that there are guides but was very unsure if the methods would still work because I have noticed that most of them were last updated/edit a while ago. I know I shouldn't use the word 'latest' for doing this to a tablet that is fairly old in the market. However, it would be very helpful if someone can point me to some 'proven to work' or 'trust-worthy' guides of rooting, flashing recovery, and rom.
Also, just out of curiosity, please recommend which recovery and rom a first-timer should use if possible

So, without any prior knowledge, I have been doing some research and browsing through the threads on this forum. I can see that there are guides but was very unsure if the methods would still work because I have noticed that most of them were last updated/edit a while ago. I know I shouldn't use the word 'latest' for doing this to a tablet that is fairly old in the market. However, it would be very helpful if someone can point me to some 'proven to work' or 'trust-worthy' guides of rooting, flashing recovery, and rom.
Also, just out of curiosity, please recommend which recovery and rom a first-timer should use if possible

these are the things you need to do before flashing a ROM.
note: -the following things may void your warranty.
-do this on your own risk.
1. HOW TO ROOT
-First install kingo root on your windows PC. Then check USB debugging .
( settings. < about device < touch build number 7times < go back and select developer options < check USB debugging.)
-Open kingo root on the PC and connect your device and connect your device to the PC. Start root and do not remove the USB cable until it says finish.
-Now you have successfully rooted your device.
2.HOW TO INSTALL A CUSTOM RECOVERY
- Go to the following link and download CLOCK WORK MOD(CWM)
LINK: https://www.clockworkmod.com/rommanager
Select your device and install the recovery.
go into the app and install recovery .
3.BACK UP
download rom manager from playstore and do a backup( do a backup using this ap only if you are using CWM recovery.

Now the first thing you need to do is download this rom.

(note: you can flash the rom of p5110 for p5113)
now to flash the rom follow the following steps.
1. Go to recovery mode
2. (have the rom in your sd card)flash it there .
use this link to know how to flash a rom.

now you can reboot after flashing.
to get inbuilt google apps and play store you need to install something called GAPPS (Google apps) download from this link.

I was looking in the forum and someone said that I would also need to unlock the bootloader? If so, how do I do that?
Also, is there a difference between kingroot and towelroot? I saw a post in the forum here saying towelroot is fast and easy to root the tablet.
Not much difference.
Actually there is not much difference between kings root and towel root....towel root doesn't need a PC...but I have never used it so I can't assure you that it is safe.
And coming to the boot loader I don't know much about it but I didn't do anything like that before flashing a rom or rooting my tab2....

it is not necessary to unloack bootloader for tab 2 as it comes with a unlocked bootloader from stock.

Hey, it's been a while. Honestly speaking, when I first posted this thread, I didn't really have enough time to do the things so now I am finally back and trying to do it. So far, I know what recovery and rom I'm going to use with all the files downloaded and ready. Though, currently, I am still at the pre-root stage. I have read up things about kingoroot and not sure if I wanted to use it. So I looked around on the forum and wonder if Odin is still a working solution. Reading on the steps and guides, I was wondering if I need to have Kies installed?

Kies is not needed as it never helped.
You can depend on odin it is your only saviour when you are in trouble.
I think rooting with kingroot is easy as it is just connecting to your PC and cick the start button.
So just notice me when your ready.
And there is also one good news...?
Tab 2 has got marshmallow.

I have rooted the tablet. I did it with odin and twrp with flashing the updatedSuperSU zip folder.
I have tried flashing the CM12.1 rom yesterday but resulted in a boot loop. So for now, I'm just rooted and on stock rom until I or someone can find out what was the problem. I have read about the discussion with marshmallow but it seems to me that the project isn't really stable yet. From what I have researched lately, can I assume there's issue with the p51xx line of tablets? Because I saw many people having problems with p51xx and most people with the other tablets aren't having any.

You first must update your tab to jelly bean bootloader, before trying out newer roms.
Or perhaps flash stock jb firmware with odin
Whatever you choose, both is ok.

Next Read through the rom threads, clear your mind and your tab too. You must format data.
Stay on twrp 2.8.7.2. Don't go to the latest one yet.
Flash rom, wait, it will boot up.
Every tab behave differently with every rom, sure you are going to face soft reboots, on some roms it will be a lot, on some it will be less. I would suggest you try both LP and kk first.
Remember, it's better to keep this tab updated than to stay on stock. This tab 2 series has a emmc bug and staying on stock or jumping back is a risk too. I have been on kk and lp. They both have kept this tab running great and away from that bug.

Do I have to unroot first? Do you have a link to making a nandroid backup?
Edit: Oh, I looked at the link you included and it said that if I am on stock jb (4.2.2), I can skip the update bootloader part..
When you flashed the new rom, did you do a factory reset (wipe data)?

Yes, that's what I meant too, if you're on jb already, you are fine. You don't have to unroot. For making a nandroid backup, use twrp recovery, there is an option for backup, select and backup all from there, if you get into bootloop or any other problem, as long as you can get back to recovery, you can restore from there. Most rom comes pre rooted.

Yes, I cleared the top four options in recovery, and formatted data before flashing.

That's what I did. Let me just briefly summarize what I have done:
used odin with twrp
booted into recovery and made back up
cleared dalvik, cache, system, and data, formatted data
flashed update supersu, booted into system and checked root with root checker
rebooted into recovery, cleared dalvik, cache, system, and data, formatted data again
flashed cm12.1 and gapps, rebooted but ran into bootloop at splash screen
rebooted into recovery and restored back up
So I'm rooted and on stock 4.2.2 currently.

Try flashing blisspop or slimLP.
