has anyone got the message "cant not receive pictures, balance too low" well i cant believe i got this and i am on the $55 plan.. this shouldnt be possible. does anyone know how to fix it.?
Have you tried to reactive the phone. I haven't ever had this show up, so I am just W.A.G-ing it here.
It sounds like a problem from VM's side... although I have poked around their MMS.apk and it's hard-coded into the software. So possibly not. Although VM is the first group I would blame.
Second might be wifi. If you have wifi on, disable it, get your 3G working, and try receiving again...
I have had this happen to me a few times, it is a glitch in VM's system. I usually get the message with in a few hours after the error message, it has however taken as long as a week to a month in some cases. My suggestion to you is if it happens again you could try calling VM asap. Personally I just ask whoever it is that sent the message to email me it

I have issues receiving MMS as well. I don't get the balance too low message, instead I have to use the stock messenger app rather than handcent (only mostly default settings). Haven't tried tweaking handcent yet to resolve though. If you have handcent try the stock, if the problem exists stock try handcent maybe.
Well I can receive them now. But when I posted this question I didn't take the time to wait it out. It was the least of my concerns. Lol I installed miui 10/30 on triumph. And my mms was and still is working at the moment

My skype doesn't keep logged in if skype is running in the background and I open other apps, when I go back to skype after being using other apps I have to log in again, so my skype was closed. I wonder if android closes it when manages the ram or if it's a skype's bug. Do you have the same issue? Is there anyway to fix it?
Thanks in advance!
edit to say that I have the stock rom 2.3.5 and S-ON
Any solution?
Everybody's skype keeps loogged on even being on the background?
no solution
my skype sometimes closes, too, but it's not often. I don't mind it, because i don't have any solution.
guys, please help me out, whenever I touch a notification, nothing happens, in facebook for android app, It worked perfectly till 2 days ago but now, since I don't have my PC, it is disturbing me a lot.
I have this issue too (similar)
Honestly, the only push notifications I ever see from fb are messages, and when I try to click it, nothing happens.
I don't know how but they started working on their own again, maybe it was a temporary problem at facebook's server
I can't remember the last time I had a facebook notification. I've got notifications enabled but haven't seen any for a very long time, I just assumed it stopped working since Facebook Messenger was released
try and see if you get same problem with 3g or wifi. I had same problem but with 3g only and that is because it can take longer to load.
They stopped working for a while for me too but now they seem to be back. I haven't ever counted on them working because it's always been pretty spotty
Same error here
Maybe it's going to be a update with facebook app.
I get those notifications too and they are anoying.
It just about time to wait an update from FB devs.

If they were to ever put any actual care into their Android app... :/
Notifications for Facebook never seem to work. I have tried to unistall/reinstall, turn notifications off then back on, doesn't matter. They really need an overhaul of the app!
Yeah i had problems getting the notifications to work on android 2.3.6 on my note. They opened about half the time. I'm trying out ICS now and hopefully it'll work better!
Guys, Im on ICS resurrection remix for a time now, and the bugs you refer are still there, to me the app's faulty. Its only useful when you want to share a photo
is better use a web browser alternative
has been happening to me for the past few weeks. doesn't always happen though, more like randomly
My dad's phone got the 4.4.3 update yesterday. All of a sudden, his messaging (Hangouts) stopped working correctly. Sometimes, when he tried to send a text, Hangouts would just crash. He could still receive messages without a problem, but he was unable to send them. I thought it might just have something to with the bad weather/power outages because my Nexus 5 was having some problems sending messages (but my Hangouts wasn't crashing). But more recently, I have not had any problems, but now Hangouts crashes every time without fail on his Moto G. I tried using different SMS apps, but they all crashed when I tried to send messages, too (but receiving is fine). I've also restarted the phone, toggled airplane mode, removed and replaced the SIM, reverted Hangouts to its original, and quick booted and erased the phone's cache all to no avail. Could this problem have been caused by the update? Is the phone crapping out? Is it a carrier problem? Something else? Advice?

Same here with wife's phone. She makes me search for a fix. Who is your carrier? Hers is Straight talk. She just can't send text. Picture sending/receiving and incoming texts work ok.
At least we're not the only ones! Ours is T-Mobile. I haven't tried sending data messages. I'll have to try...
Update: MMS works fine. Just sent a picture to myself.

for all, have you try to update your hangouts after updating to 4.3.3 ?
Hangouts updated and crashing as well. I tried several different messaging apps with the same result
Have you tried disabling the messaging app and also clearing the data and cache for handouts?
Try this one: Settings > Apps > All > Reset preferences.

Hey, we are back in the game! Thank you for your tip, it worked (at least in my case). Thanks again!
Well since it seems to have had some success, I'll try this in morning and let you know how it goes!

Are you guys sure the Messaging app was fully disabled after the update? Also, the only app default for Hangouts is to be set as the default messenger. Perhaps going into settings and setting it as the default messenger would do the same as reset app preferences without resetting all your other defaults.
It didn't make any difference for me. I couldn't send text messages no matter what app was default.

After messing with this some more, it seems the issue is if you disable the Messaging app, this behavior exists. If you keep it enabled, then Hangouts will work just fine. This is a pretty bad bug imho.
Can't enable messanging app

Im on 4.4.4 and can even seem to disable the messaging app on my moto g.
So this issue exist on the Moto X 4.4.4. Had Messenger disabled while on 4.4.2 and used Hangouts (past and current version) with no problems. After update to 4.4.4 problem started, but solved with the known solution of re-enabling/re-installing the Messenger app. The problem also exists if Messenger is uninstalled.
My question is does anyone know what is causing this issue? Is it a change in the Messenger app, Hangouts (unlikely), or the core OS (seems most likely to me).
Just curious more than anything, but I would like to remove the Messenger app if possible.

Since I've had my phone, whenever i get notifications, pushbullet, gmail, even text and google voice, they'll get delayed until i wake my phone.
Sometimes they come through instantly, but they mostly wait until i wake the phone then they all come through at once.
Has anyone else been experiencing this or know of a fix?

nope
Try Google Apps and download
Samsung Push Service update
Samsung Push Service is oy applicable to Samsung apps.
the problem seems to mainly be with gmail and pushbullet. I just woke up and the second i woke my phone, i had 4 gmail notifications all hit me at once, but the emails actually came in like 6 hrs ago...
I have the same problem, for me it's with all applications. Already see the problem with Twitter, K9-mail, pushbullet, instagram and Hangouts. The same problem also see with Peel Smart remote like if smartphone sleet. But when I wake up, 10 seconds after I receive all notifications.
I'm having the same issue as well. Twitter, FB, Instagram, Amazon, etc. They show up after my screen has been on for a while...

Same problems here with both my wife's and and my phone. Once the phone is woken up all the notifications arrive. Though I will say, it's mainly Google related products, so wondering if it's a bug with Google apps or their servers? I've been getting a lot of updates the past week with their apps. One reason I think it's Google is with Hangouts, SMS works perfectly, but Hangouts via wifi is delayed and only notifications with Hangouts wifi will appear once the phone is woken. So makes me wonder if it is Google?
The notifications when you wake the phone is a feature in Motion and Gestures as Smart Alert. Its basically just reminding you that you received something when the phone was asleep!

I thought this feature makes the phone vibrate when you pick it up to let you know that you have received a notification.
For me, problem seems related to heartbeat interval. By default is 5 minutes, but if I cange it to 3 minutes, I receive my notifications.
I used "Push Notifications Fixer" on the Play Store to change the settings and seems work for the moments.
This is very much related to the problem I have seen and reported to ATT and Samsung

I"ve been having the same issues...I think it started after the last android update...I have the blue edge...other factor is that i have to use a micro cell tower
That is very odd, normally if you have this problem it is out the box, but it would not surprise me if the update breaks it. Again i would suggest you contact Samsung and let them know as well as your carrier.
I posted a writeup on reddit. Please upvote! This needs visibility.

I have the issue on both wifi and 4g.
You need to contact your Carrier and Samsung. That is the only way it will get resolved, they don't follow Reddit or any of these forums. Contact them direct.
Here is a link to my other post with my ticket numbers if you want to reference them.
