Hi,
My Motorola droid 2 global is black screen on my droid. I can receive calls, I get email as I hear the notifications, the screen reacts to touch as it vibrated when I drag across the area where the unlock slider is.
When i was playing with it, I noticed that under very bright light I can see the screen. I managed to take few screenshot, which automatically loaded to my picasa, and when when I opened them,. the screen, with all the icons was visible.
Has my LCD display gone bad? But, i was buy lcd to replace them,
I've tried to solve the issue with a battery pull, reser, restart etc but nothing seems to work. I also played with the brightness setting under a very bright light and nothing happened.
Please help
Seems like a hard ware issue. Did you rsd to complete stock? I would try that as the last thing if not already done and if it's still black it's hardware related.

so after a week of wondering why my phone was off when i took it out pocket, i figured it out. for some reason if i push on the middle of the lcd and the middle of the back, the phone turns off! with little to moderate force. tried it on my friends inspire and it did the same thing. now i know not every inspire has this problem but test yours to find out.
no problem here
How hard are you pushing on it? I'm too afraid to apply force to it but I've never had any issues with mine turning off.

with very little to average force. its only in the center on mine... just wanted to let you guys know.
I just tried it pushing kind of hard. No problem here and it was right dead in the center although I did just get a new inspire through warrenty yesterday. So maybe its just the first couple of them
I would guess that it's a loose battery connection. Pushing it as you do is likely flexing it enough to break contact. Mine doesn't do this.
No problem here either.
It might be loosing battery connection just like Gene said.
Mine doesn't do this. Did u check how secure the battery cover was?

Well I haven't had my phone for more that 30 days so I'm going to take it into at&t and have them replace it.

Also I don't even think the phone turns off! When I push it the screen goes off but I cant turn it back on via the power button. I have to take out the battery and put it back in. Also when it turns off, I tried connecting my charger. The orange light came on but the screen never does.

has anyone noticed the little dots on the screen (under the glass) in the sun? I came from the galaxy S and i know it's AMOLED so i'm just wondering if that is normal on LCD?
It has to be out in the sunlight with the screen off to see them..

So I ordered a new LCD and digitizer from new harbor via amazon.
I took the phone apart, installed the new array, and powered it on, and the screen is great (maybe even brighter than the last one) but it just has zero touch input.
The last screen worked fine, but the LCD was broken. I could have it acknowledge touches so I dont think that the motherboard or anything else is broken, so I wonder what may have went wrong.
Should I take this mofo apart again and see if I have a loose connection? Maybe the ribbon cable is not connected right?
Probably the past is DOA?
Help please! thanks.

Is this somewhere in the service menu? I can boot into its custom menu by holding down volume and power... Not sure if there's more to it.
It's rooted s-off so I get menus to get into recovery or fast boot etc

Scratch that. Just re read your post. "Zero touch input". It's an option in the rom.
There are a few threads/posts where people have replaced the screen, either here or the dhd forum. Check what they had to say. I have absolutely no experience in that. Perhaps it's a cable as you said, but before doing that, I would research on it first. You may end up like me with 9 screws left over after taking apart my ps3 three times (screwing it up even more).

Removing and taking it apart isn't a problem. There are only eight screws.
This isn't fun... To be certain.

Did you ever get this taken care of?
Just replaced mine. LCD intact. Touch no longer working. They aren't kidding: this phone isn't fun to work on. It's a *****. I've repaired a half dozen iPhones. This makes that stuff seem rudimentary.

I've had my inspire apart several times. Other than removing the Flash/GPS, and separating the LCD from the frame its quite simple. If you want a pain try a slide phone.

Understand your pain because just recently I had to change my entire screen for my Inspire 4G. I assume that you did everything correctly but here is the video that helped me on youtube:

If you did everything correctly it could just mean that you prob got a faulty part
hello GS3'ers my brother has some gs3 problems
his gs3's back light appears to have died out. he can still use the phone just can't see what is going on, the sounds still work and everything. has anyone come across this before? i told him to hold a flashlight to the screen so he's able to backup his pictures and what not but the screen is really black. which is his main concern right now, because he wants save his things and then return the phone if he has to.
any help is much appreciated, thanks!
My understanding of the GS3 is that since it is an AMOLED screen, it does not have a backlight. Each individual pixel emits light. My guess would be an app is causing the problem, possibly one that alters screen brightness. I would start by pulling the battery and restart the phone. If you see a boot animation, your screen's not dead.
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda premium
that makes sense because the flashlight thing didn't work. he restarts his phone and even the boot logo is happening during a pitch black screen but the sound could be heard. it's gotta be something more serious

Is the screen visually physically broken or just no image ?
If just no image, there is a high likelihood that the LCD Display cable has come out of the board / screen
Its a common issue when they get dropped or knocked as the cable is partially wrapped around the battery, which shifts and pulls out the cable
Very easy to push back in
Here is a teardown video showing how to dismantle the TF101
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k-6dKsGJ4VY
This video shows the cable you're looking for

It's the image nothing physically broken I'll give that a shot it would be awesome if that was it free tablet

Tried it and it didn't work didn't take it apart further so if anyone has any other suggestions I don't really need the screen to work as I'm mainly gonna use it for streaming to my tv but I would like to get jb on it not a big deal just tinkering now lol

afaik the only way you can flash ROMs without entering recovery / having a screen is via NVFlash or genuine ASUS updates being put on the root of the SDCard, but there are only ICS ROMs that are NVFlashable
Unless you can convince a dev to build you a one off NVFlash JB ROM
--
Seems strange that the screen would fail without being physically damaged
Does the screen backlight come on or is it 100% black as if powered off ?
I would still be tempted to investigate further into cables coming loose, IMO well worth completely dismantling it and rebuilding it the one time, just to be absolutely sure it is actually broken
The back light still works but all I can see is vertical lines where the image should be, I'll try totally dismantling I was thinking the same thing just got lazy lol but the wife is going on vacation so I'll definitely try it tomorrow night, and I was afraid that was the case for the rom thing as all I could find was ics but thanks for all your help I will update

Hmm lines on the screen, I thought it was just black, that could be a lose cable, but also could be a cracked screen, I used to repair laptops a few years back and broken screens would sometimes show lines even though you couldn't see the crack
Worth a shot though, and if there is no wife for a while, good timing to play with gadgets
There have been quite a few folks who have had similar screen issues who have benefitted from taking the back cover off and reseating the video connector. Seeing lines could be indicative of a slightly loose connection and not necessarily a broken screen

My N7 4.4.2 Not Rooted has been playing up lately. For the 2nd time in 3 days, I picked it up and it wouldnt respond. I could hear the screenshot being taken so the phone was on but the screen was black. It vibrates after using the power button and it finally boots up again. The phone has been perfect for about a month and this error only started recently.

Do a factory reset. Keep in mind that this will wipe your internal storage so be sure to back up and data, photos, etc. before hand. If that doesn't fix it then flash the factory image over. As to how, refer to this thread.
Your problem should be fixed after the Factory Reset though. Good Luck!
Thanks. I was hoping it wouldn't come to this but oh well. Is there a cause for this?

Were are talking about the N5 right?. I had this issue with my G2X a couple years ago. It turns out that after I took it apart the flex cable looked like at had been torn a tad bit. This sounds like a flex cable problem. Software could be the issue and a factory reset may help. However in my experience that's usually a flex cable or pop connection. Send it in if the reset does not work. Don't bother trying to do this yourself. It may be the front panel flex cable. Or the pop connection of the main board. When these cables are made, they are literally thrown into barrels and sent to The front panel assembly line. So chances are. One of these flex cables suffered some damage. Same goes with the tiny connection on the main board. These tiny pieces are put on one by one. I think robots do it. The device turned on for their tests. But the long run? ...Well you get the point.

Im just facotry resetting my phone right now, i'll post later the results after a few days of testing
Well? did the factory reset work? I have this issue and it's driving me nuts!!!! I read somewhere that squeezing the case helps, and indeed this seems to work something, to it looks like hardware issue to me
black screen nexus 5
I was totally desperate with this random black screen. I tried everything including change of flex cable and also screen, but the same random black screen
I changed the 2 years old battery with a new one and.... ooff... this resolved my problem .no black screen anymore
I hope that, with this solution, I give You another direction of thinking about what is causing this annoying problem
