I was leaning toward the SGP, but after doing some Google research I came across this company. People said they were happy with the product, but more importantly, their customer service is outstanding.
Last night I bit the bullet and ordered mine. I'll update this thread when it comes in next week, but the reason I wanted to post something now was because I've already experienced some of that great customer service.
So after I placed my order last night around 11:30pm eastern (same time zone they're in), I noticed a typo in my shipping address. I used their "contact us" form on the website to mail the correction, would you believe it, they sent me back a response 10 minutes later. They're a small company, and their desire to stand out shows.
Anyway, here's the link to the protector: http://mimeusa.com/product/galaxy-s4-ghost-glass-tempered-glass-screen-protector/
Also, they sell what appear to be the same aluminum, black, and white home buttons that you can get at SGP. The difference being MIME sells them for $2.50 (or $1 if you buy a protector) with free shipping. http://mimeusa.com/product/aluminum-home-button-for-galaxy-s4/
Lastly, here's a review I found: http://www.runaroundtech.com/2013/01/12/mime-hdt-c-glass-screen-protector-for-iphone-5-review/
I already received a tracking number this morning (they use USPS, so I guess they can ship on Saturdays). I'll post an update when the protector arrives!
------------------------------------------
UPDATE:
The protector has arrived and it seems pretty good. They even included a little note in the box, which was a nice personalized touch.
It doesn't add as much weight as I expected, and the cutouts are ample enough to not block any sensors. Now in my case, I did apply it just a little bit too high and it makes the bottom 1/10th of the front camera a little blurry, but it's not really noticeable. That's my fault. Don't make the same mistake I did.
You can see in the close-ups that it's just a tiny bit narrower than the screen itself, so you should be able to use a case without any issues.
It's 0.32mm thick and has rounded edges, so it's thinner than the SGP GLAS.tR, $7 cheaper, and is backed by much better customer service.
I'm pleased with it, and it's staying on my phone permanently. Recommended! :good:
We already seem to have a MIME Rep among us, helping members out! - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2264207
I'll wait for your thoughts on it! I want to decide between MIME and Spigen Glas.tr
MIME is the better quality imo.

I have many app ideas, but don't have the skill or the time to learn how to make an app. if you would like to know an idea and attempt to make one, just message me.
It's arrived! Mini review added to OP.
is that sticky note, hand-written or is it printed ?
Its hand written, nice addition on creating a personal touch.
was going to get the spigen, but ill give the MIME a shot :good:

How's the sensitivity? I had a glass protector on my S3 from a different company but the sensitivity issues were so bad I had to take it off.

Not satisfied with SPIGEN SGP GLAS.tR...
So I had some issues with the spigen glass protector. Luckily, Amazon is going to process my return and I can get a refund for that $35 I spent. I'm going to order me one of these bad boys from MIME ASAP. Thanks for the review
Great topic.
is there a big difference using these expensive screens instead cheap ones from china ?

True, not sure if glass has any effect on it though.
Does this have the silicone adhesive around just the edge or the entire screen? That was the issue with many s3 glass screens.
They only had adhesive around the edge because of the semi curved displayed, pockets of air would get under the glass and reduce sensitivity.
What is in the second picture?
Does it come with 2?
It has adhesive all around. The box includes a full screen size sticker for you to put on and take off to remove any dust immediately before applying the protector. (I had a friend use a can of compressed air on the phone while I put the protector on.)
If your glass protector ever needs replacing, the box also includes a plastic screen protector, so you don't have to go without any protection while you wait to receive the replacement.

Steinheil has their Ultra-Clear screen protectors available for the DROID Charge. I just ordered one and I'm hoping it works out better than the ZAGG Invisibleshield did on my Fascinate. See here
I put their incredible shield plus the ultracrystal screen protector on my Fascinate, and absolutely love it. The tacky feeling around the phone is nice for grip (especially with games) but still can slide in my pocket. And of course, the screen protector itself is smooth as glass.
Nice to see it coming out so soon for the Charge, it was weeks before the Fascinate's was available.
I swear by Steinheil. I love the way they glide onto the surface, no hassle and no bubbles.
Which version have people tested? I see they have 3 types.

I got the ultra-crystal as I didn't want any distortion to the screen and don't really care about fingerprints as they can always be wiped off.
I know I'm double posting, but I wanted to bump this to share. I got my screen protector in the mail yesterday afternoon and was able to put it on my phone last night. The ultra-crystal protectors are THICK, much thicker than I was expecting. Installation was fairly simple, didn't have to turn my phone off or anything, which is nice coming from ZAGG. There is no distortion to the screen at all, and you can barely tell that I even have a screen protector on it. I unfortunately got a small piece of dust that I can't get off at the bottom edge and that is the only place you can really see that something is covering the screen. Will see how it holds up over the next week or two, now that I'll be a little less careful since the screen won't get scratched.

I love it too, and the areas that weren't fully pressed down due to what I thought was dust disappeared, so I guess it just took a little time to fully fasten itself. The fit is almost 100% matched to the glass, so you really have to look to see that it's even there.
Looks like they are temporarily out of the Ultra Crystal. I was going to pull the trigger and that option is gone...
Edit:Well, it looks like the full-body shields ship with the UC screen protector, if you wanted full coverage.
Quick question: do these shields cover or interfere with the front-facing camera? From the illustrations, it looks like the shield covers the front camera.

It covers the camera, but the protector is completely clear, and although I haven't taken any pictures with the FFC, the image displayed on the screen when using it doesn't show any distortion.

They're sold out of their stock on sgpstore.com but I grabbed one off Amazon (sold by SGP Store, stocked by Amazon) yesterday with free shipping (got a compatible HDMI cable and TPU case with it to make $25) and it shipped today. They're only showing a couple left in stock then good luck finding one until they make more of them.

Where was that?! I just spent a good twenty minutes looking on Amazon for it and didn't see it anywhere...are these really worth the price? I assume yes, given the reaction you all have to Steinheil's products, but thought I'd ask.
I got the ultra crystal. I can barely tell it's there. Lots of finger prints... but I don't mind too much.
How does Steinheil compare to Bodyguardz, Zaggs, BSE, or clean protector?
I ask cuz I'm looking for full body protector? Plus does anyone have discount codes?
If you can wait a week or so just get some decent cheap ones off ebay like these
http://cgi.ebay.com/5-CLEAR-Screen-...238019?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item3a66966f03
I ended up ordering some of the ultra crystal from amazon and am very impressed.
I am less impressed with my skills, I managed to get a little piece of dust on my second attempt to apply... but other than that the thing is perfect, and my dust ended up being in a corner so i didn't want to waste another protector.
Definitely worth the money, all other protectors "ruin" the screen for me, its such a nice screen, but it still needs protection.
I had a good experience with Zagg, but hated the rubbery feel. So, I was looking into getting a Steinheil protector.
Any stores carry these like Best Buy does Zagg? Or is it online only?
I bought the cheap 3 pack from Verizon to hold me over and ugh. Super clear, but bubbles on the edges are almost impossible to prevent. I love the texture better than zagg, but there is some glare outdoors.
Is it possible to get these cheap ones on with the edges coming up? I ask because I don't think I ever seen a phone without the bubbles on the edges.

Found these Halo HD screen protectors on Amazon. Come with 3 to a pack and only $5.95. Installation is a snap, and they feel very similar to glass. Very smooth, not tacky and no fingernail indentions. As with all of these dry protecors, they do not cover the entire screen due to the rounded edges, but they do have the cutouts for the FFC and sensors.
http://www.amazon.com/Halo-Screen-P...8&qid=1359990165&sr=1-2&keywords=Nexus+4+Halo
Forgot to mention that they also send you another pack of protectors for free just for submitting a review anywhere on the web.
So a lot of these amazon reviews are just there to get a second pack?
Not saying that the product isn't any good, but it still makes me suspicious concerning how much you can trust those reviews.
I have a pack of these. They seem ok and you sure can't beat the price. For this price if I get any scratches or edge lifting I have no problem installing a new one.
Agreed, but to be honest, the instructions do not require a positive review. And furthermore, the insert within the packaging said I have been "chosen" to receive a free pack which leads me to believe that the offer is provided randomly.
All things aside, I have been very happy with my purchase. Even without the free offer, I still got 3 screen protectors for ~$6.00.

Of course they don't.. but as the person doing the review, you would still think that a positive review is more likely to get you a second set.
I get that positive reviews are extremely important, I just think that incentivizing them in this way is less than ideal.

They don't require positive reviews. I had an issue with a faulty pack a year ago and left a bad review. They sent me out a replacement for the review and even sent out an extra pack to make up for the trouble. Never even asked me to change the review.
Seem pretty honest and it seems like they just want to get the word out. If you want to see some fake reviews, go look at some other protectors on amazon where the product is all 5 stars.
How would these compare to SGP protectors?
I have the matte of this brand on my phone right now and I absolutely love it. Definitely would not have left a 5 star review if it wasn't deserved. My friend bought the clear ones and gave me the other two although I didn't need 'em, but from what I could tell from seeing and testing it out on his phone, they are of the same high quality as mine. Definitely happy with this product, I got 'em when they were only $3 including shipping though.
I just replaced my halo with SGP. SGP is really nice..... But halo is a bit better. Halo Is slimmer and wider so it looks less noticeable on the phone. Even though the SGP is not as wide, I still have a slight issue with it not wanting to seal on some corners and the edge. Nothing crazy, but again not as nice as halo.
Clarity Is about the same. I would say that the SGP is a tad bit clearer though. Not very noticeable though. SGP feels fairly awesome though. More like the glass. Halo does feel fairly similar.
SGP: tad bit clearer MAYBE, little thicker, feels great.
Halo: covers more screen, slimmer, feels great, cheaper. No lift issues.
I am going to keep my SGP on only because I paid for it band I live the way it feels, but I'll definitely be going back to the halo at some point.

May I ask if the matte screen protectors are oil and finger print resistant? And is it possible to post a pic of the phone? I want to compare how much of the screen it covers versus the SGP. I am planning Oleophobic ones but if it this looks more "invisible" that the SGP's, I'd rather have this.
Thanks!

Oleophobic is clear one with layer of fingerprint-proof that will NOT affect the screen quality (as they said)
matte will always downgrade the screen quality

I've had the Halo clear protector for a couple of weeks and I've been happy with it. I'm getting good protection, a clear view of the screen behind it, no rainbow effect or anything like that. Other than in direct sunlight, I don't feel like I'm looking through a screen protector. And in sunlight, I don't know that I'd be seeing much more without the protector. It does take on fingerprints, but that's no surprise.
I found the installation to be very easy, easier than I'd expected. I got it on in seconds and worked out the air pretty effortlessly. About the fit, only a hard protector could cover the whole screen because of its curvature. This is not news to anyone reading these topics here. This protector is just a tad too wide to get a tight seal on the sides, but it comes closer top and bottom. I'm referring to tiny amounts, like 1mm. It's a non-issue to me as long as it doesn't cause the protector to peel back, which hasn't happened at all so far.
Hard to beat the price on this. I'd do it over again without a second thought. I'd considered the SGP and Martin Fields, but to get 4 protectors for this price makes this a no brainer. It's hard to imagine those protectors being that much better, if they're any better at all. And at the low price, going through a few over time is harmless, if it even comes down to that.

I have SGP as well and I actually like these better. While both are fingerprint magnets because of the type of SP that it is, Halo feels more "glassier" if that's even a word lol, than the SGP.
Plus, at fraction of the price and you get 3 of them, it's a great deal.
So, I've had my N4 since the beginning of December and since then I've gone back and forth between the two skins. I've been using the XtremeGuard skin for about a month now. Before that I was using the Skinomi full body protector, even the sides. Both were wet applications, but the Skinomi came with its own spray bottle and applicator tools. The XtremeGuard came came in an envelope and instructions only: Basically, put drop of dishwashing soap in a small bowl of water, then dunk the skin and apply on the phone. The end result was a great fit, but.... the skin ended up being too sticky for my own taste. The price was unbelievable cheap. I just couldn't get away from the stickyness and of course the extreme orange-peel effect. But, I had already purchased a second set as a "backup" just in case I needed a set. Like I said, it was very cheap, like almost $9, shipped.
Now, the Skinomi was much more pricier, but I'm sure it was worth it. Like I said, a spray bottle, squeege, and large black felt wipe with the Skinomi logo. The front and back application was a breeze, like most front and back screen protector applications. The little trick to get the skin to stay down over the edges, or curved corners for that matter is the same: to get the curved sides and corners to stick down you have to wait a few minutes for the skin that is going to touch the screen/phone to dry up a bit. It needs to become sticky in order to stay down. I wait another minute or two and keep trying to keep the edges down. Eventually the skin stays down on the curved edges. For the front skin, I lined up the top perfectly, and the bottom is a little over 1 mm from completely covering the front. The back is even a better fit, less than 1 mm missing from all four edges. Really great coverage. Now the sides, eh, it's a ***** to get the curved corners. The pieces are long to apply and keep slipping. Eventually I got the corners to stay down, but over time from using the phone the corners would start to come up and then collect lint. I think I've given up on protecting the sides and corners that I just ordered the stock bumper and will use that to protect the edges before they get more dinged. Now that it's been 24 hours, WOW! I am very impressed. I can barely feel that there is a skin on top. Yes, it feels a little stick, but I have to put emphasis on "little". It's nowhere near sticky as the Xtreme. And the finish! WOW! The only problem is my oily fingers. I guess that's what the skinomi wipe is for?
That just my 2 cents. oh, btw, the Skinomi was very very little orange-peel look, and it's almost like a mirror. The best skin I've ever used so far (Xtreme, Skinomi, and Zagg).
Had an extreme guard on my s3, didn't like it just like you mentioned, it felt "sticky".... But it is very durable. Also don't like the wet application.

I didn't know. Please forgive me. I didn't know. I was lured in by the cheap price, but I've seen the light!
Just ordered the skinomi one.. I also debated to order XtremeGuard but saw the reviews weren't so good.
I'm going to try and take a different approach and try to let the sides heal and for all the bubbling and haze to subside, then I will put my bumper on, hopefully that should eliminate the issue of the edges raising up?
I bought a Skintomi way back for my Galaxy Nexus just randomly because I was having so much trouble sorting out which brand was worth anything from all the conflicting reviews, and boy am I glad I did. It is still awesome. I liked it so much I ordered the full body model for my Nexus 4. I got a great deal from a guy on ebay, I think the front cover model was like 8 bucks and the full body Nexus 4 model was less than 17.
I have to agree with the stickiness of wet applied screen protectors.
I've only used xtremeguard for for my N4 cuz I didn't really see a need to buy another/ different screen protector afterwards, so can't say anything about the others. For the first couple of days after application (like a week or so), it was almost impossible to push your thumb across the screen (dragging thumb across the screen fared a little better). After a while however it became significantly easier to use the touchscreen because the oil on my finger started to make the screen more slippery, but no where near the slipperiness of a dry install. I can easily swipe on the default keyboard but it could be better.
Right now I'm contemplating whether to spray some dust repellent on the screen protector; playing air hockey on the kitchen table is a breeze after spraying some.
Just my $0.02
N4 skinomi are hit and miss. The sides do not stick very well and lift up easy. The solutions tends to leave large bubble markings between the screen and the skin. After a month, the skin has lots of scar indentations, like worms or ants traveling in sand leaving trails. Much like those you create when pressing down too hard when applying the skin with the squeegee. Any cover or case that touches the top will lift push or cause the skin to bubble.
I've use skinomi on several devices, first one that's not "good". Same results on 3 replacements. Gonna try another brand.
I've used xtremeguard on other devices and they've worked well too. Loved it on my s3 . After some cure time it's not as sticky as when applied. But black specs in envelope and lately the material of the skin has changed. So it's quality has been randomly lacking.

No, brand should not matter, but quality does. There is a list of personal requirements that I have and Skinomi (so far) meets those requirements, whereas others do not. That's not to say a cheaper cost product is better or as good. I have yet to try Zagg for my N4, but I have used the Zagg HD in the past. I want to try out BSE see how well that works.

Yeah of course we do. Different brands make a huge difference. Spend the 8 bucks on a Skintomi from ebay and try it for a few weeks and you'll see what we mean.
I ordered some skins from xtreme guard, the lower prices got me too, shipping to canada was around $3 which is awesome . Still waiting to get them so I have no reviews yet. Used BSE before, I think they are great, but getting so expensive. now buying for a 3rd phone (waiting for 2nd rma).

Is this screen protector the "rubbery" soft gel type? It looks like it has the "self heal" advertisement, so it's probably not the hard type right?
I would say it is soft, are you worried about finger drag like with the zagg invisible shields have, though i have read the Skinomi protectors are OK, non or little drag, i will have to wait till i get my Xtremeguard to find out.

Yeah, same with me, i will not buy another zagg until i hear they have fixed the problems, for the price of the Xtremeguard i will take the chance.

How's the quality on these?
i had it just for my s4 back... at first quite alot bubbles... after i woke up, most of them r gone left the stubborn ones.... if not its almost perfect
I've been using these on all my devices. I had an HTC thunderbolt, a nexus tab, and a S4. My original S4 had a USB port that died, so I was given a new one a few weeks back. I am currently in the process of getting more.
They do add a bit of that soft rubbery feeling. It's not game breaking though. You won't notice after so long. Coming back to the bare gorilla glass of the S4 feels too sensitive and resistance free. I also feels it smudges easier this way too.
The extremeguard protectors I have on my tbolt and nexus (applied sometime in mid 2012) are still there. The bubbles really do go away given time, and neither guard shows any scrapes or cuts...lord knows between moving, a 13 month old, and being my daily driver, at least one of them ought to show some battle damage.
The only ghetto thing about these things is that you have to make your own solution for the wet apply. Just add a drop of dish soap to a bowl of water. And it can be challenging to get it to set right. My advice would be to worry about placement, not bubbles. The bubbles will work out over time, but if you've got hang over from a crappy placement, you'll be annoyed for the rest of the time it's on your device.
I never took one of these off, so I can't speak to whether or not it peels of paint or finish. My backplate is from my original S4, and has an xtreme guard on if still...and I have no plans on removing it.
So...with the OP's coupon code, 2 bucks for 2 of these bad boys, plus free shipping? Yeah, that's a no brainer. Hop on it!

Hi, this is a review of the amCase Hybrid Bumper Case And amFilm Screen Protector Premium HD Clear.
I received them this week, i like the back transparency, because it lets the original S5 design show, the case has a nice fit and lets very good space to access all ports, also it feels good to the touch and has a nice grip, since the back is solid, also this make it feel like a more expensive product.

The screen protector is also very good quality, i didn't used on my phone because i already had one installed, but a friend installed it on his phone and liked it a lot, since it resist scratches and is clearer a lot more than the previous screen protectors he has used.

I didnt like the case because of its back. It kept giving me goosebumps....its a weird material
I'm thinking about trying this case and wondered how it fits. Also, how is the installation?
Any more info on the Screen Protector?
Recently bought another brand off Ebay and was wondering if the amFilm brand you mention is any better? The ones I got were really hard to align and just did not seem to go down right. This caused the edges of the protector not be sealed down tightly and I constantly get air bubbles in the sides and near the home button. I even payed extra for fast shipping so it was kind of expensive. The ones your talking about are cheaper and get good reviews so I am considering trying them. Did your friend happen to mention how the protectors fit? Or if he has had any problems with air bubbles?

he told me it fitted right and the few air bubbles, he took them out with a credit card, rubbing it on the protector to the edges.

If I was to get the protector and ended up having the same problem, would this method definitely fix it?

Yes! Thanks for the help. I'll be purchasing this case whenever I get some time. One last thing, do you think this will fit most phones?
Purchased this case the other day and it's great! One of the best cases I've had.
