So, I've had my N4 since the beginning of December and since then I've gone back and forth between the two skins. I've been using the XtremeGuard skin for about a month now. Before that I was using the Skinomi full body protector, even the sides. Both were wet applications, but the Skinomi came with its own spray bottle and applicator tools. The XtremeGuard came came in an envelope and instructions only: Basically, put drop of dishwashing soap in a small bowl of water, then dunk the skin and apply on the phone. The end result was a great fit, but.... the skin ended up being too sticky for my own taste. The price was unbelievable cheap. I just couldn't get away from the stickyness and of course the extreme orange-peel effect. But, I had already purchased a second set as a "backup" just in case I needed a set. Like I said, it was very cheap, like almost $9, shipped.
Now, the Skinomi was much more pricier, but I'm sure it was worth it. Like I said, a spray bottle, squeege, and large black felt wipe with the Skinomi logo. The front and back application was a breeze, like most front and back screen protector applications. The little trick to get the skin to stay down over the edges, or curved corners for that matter is the same: to get the curved sides and corners to stick down you have to wait a few minutes for the skin that is going to touch the screen/phone to dry up a bit. It needs to become sticky in order to stay down. I wait another minute or two and keep trying to keep the edges down. Eventually the skin stays down on the curved edges. For the front skin, I lined up the top perfectly, and the bottom is a little over 1 mm from completely covering the front. The back is even a better fit, less than 1 mm missing from all four edges. Really great coverage. Now the sides, eh, it's a ***** to get the curved corners. The pieces are long to apply and keep slipping. Eventually I got the corners to stay down, but over time from using the phone the corners would start to come up and then collect lint. I think I've given up on protecting the sides and corners that I just ordered the stock bumper and will use that to protect the edges before they get more dinged. Now that it's been 24 hours, WOW! I am very impressed. I can barely feel that there is a skin on top. Yes, it feels a little stick, but I have to put emphasis on "little". It's nowhere near sticky as the Xtreme. And the finish! WOW! The only problem is my oily fingers. I guess that's what the skinomi wipe is for?
That just my 2 cents. oh, btw, the Skinomi was very very little orange-peel look, and it's almost like a mirror. The best skin I've ever used so far (Xtreme, Skinomi, and Zagg).
Had an extreme guard on my s3, didn't like it just like you mentioned, it felt "sticky".... But it is very durable. Also don't like the wet application.

I personally thought xtreme guard was garbage. There's a night and day quality difference between skinomi and xtreme guard. You really do get what you pay for here. You can even see it in the packaging.

I didn't know. Please forgive me. I didn't know. I was lured in by the cheap price, but I've seen the light!
Just ordered the skinomi one.. I also debated to order XtremeGuard but saw the reviews weren't so good.
I'm going to try and take a different approach and try to let the sides heal and for all the bubbling and haze to subside, then I will put my bumper on, hopefully that should eliminate the issue of the edges raising up?
I bought a Skintomi way back for my Galaxy Nexus just randomly because I was having so much trouble sorting out which brand was worth anything from all the conflicting reviews, and boy am I glad I did. It is still awesome. I liked it so much I ordered the full body model for my Nexus 4. I got a great deal from a guy on ebay, I think the front cover model was like 8 bucks and the full body Nexus 4 model was less than 17.
I have to agree with the stickiness of wet applied screen protectors.
I've only used xtremeguard for for my N4 cuz I didn't really see a need to buy another/ different screen protector afterwards, so can't say anything about the others. For the first couple of days after application (like a week or so), it was almost impossible to push your thumb across the screen (dragging thumb across the screen fared a little better). After a while however it became significantly easier to use the touchscreen because the oil on my finger started to make the screen more slippery, but no where near the slipperiness of a dry install. I can easily swipe on the default keyboard but it could be better.
Right now I'm contemplating whether to spray some dust repellent on the screen protector; playing air hockey on the kitchen table is a breeze after spraying some.
Just my $0.02
N4 skinomi are hit and miss. The sides do not stick very well and lift up easy. The solutions tends to leave large bubble markings between the screen and the skin. After a month, the skin has lots of scar indentations, like worms or ants traveling in sand leaving trails. Much like those you create when pressing down too hard when applying the skin with the squeegee. Any cover or case that touches the top will lift push or cause the skin to bubble.
I've use skinomi on several devices, first one that's not "good". Same results on 3 replacements. Gonna try another brand.
I've used xtremeguard on other devices and they've worked well too. Loved it on my s3 . After some cure time it's not as sticky as when applied. But black specs in envelope and lately the material of the skin has changed. So it's quality has been randomly lacking.

Anti static spray? Wonder how that will affect the touch screen.
Do people really care this much about screen protector brands? I bought one generic one from eBay and it does all I want it to: keep my screen clean.

No, brand should not matter, but quality does. There is a list of personal requirements that I have and Skinomi (so far) meets those requirements, whereas others do not. That's not to say a cheaper cost product is better or as good. I have yet to try Zagg for my N4, but I have used the Zagg HD in the past. I want to try out BSE see how well that works.

Yeah of course we do. Different brands make a huge difference. Spend the 8 bucks on a Skintomi from ebay and try it for a few weeks and you'll see what we mean.
I ordered some skins from xtreme guard, the lower prices got me too, shipping to canada was around $3 which is awesome . Still waiting to get them so I have no reviews yet. Used BSE before, I think they are great, but getting so expensive. now buying for a 3rd phone (waiting for 2nd rma).

These have to be the cheapest skins I've seen. Only pay shipping. $2.85 to Connecticut for me. I actually ordered 2 for $4.85
Haven't heard anything about their quality before, but if they are at least as good as other discount skins like BestSkinsEver, then I will be happy.
Zagg and the other more expensive skins are a complete rip off. So far this is also the first FULL cover skin I have seen for the G2.
I'll post pics and a review after I get them in a few days.
*UPDATE*
StealthGuards are not great. No where near "full protection" like Zagg or BSE. Didn't even finish installing because they aren't going to do what I want.
I'm actually using the T-mobile snap on gel skin (smells like ass when new, but fits great) and T-mobile anti-smear screen protectors (best I have used, amazingly). Got both cheap cause wifey's an employee.
Also, The snap on BodyGlove case T-mobile sells is twice as much as the gel one I have, and the fit sucks. It actually keeps the keyboard from opening all the way, making it wiggle forward and back.

I would not recommend these. Got 5 for my nexus and they all sucked. Main thing was the screen protector it looked horrible
Don't waste the shipping cost there horrible. Very poor quality there definitely not cut to fit. You will literally not even use it but just toss it.
still waiting for Bestskinever. its literally the same as the invisible shield though it doesn't come with a spray bottle, squeegee and fancy packaging. and it cost about 1.3 that of invisible shield.
Orderd one.. lets see how they hold up..
Normally buy ZAGG's but their quality has been horrible lately
Hope these are a little better than the cheapo ones on eBay..

On my HD2 it looks great. Installation is the make or break for these. They are like the Zagg ones in feel and quality. i ordered 4 @ $8.85 Basically $2.85 shipping on the 1st one $2.00 for each additional one.
I'm always weary of anything that I have to adhere to my phone.
I wouldnt get them, i mean if they are handing them out for free something is wrong with them... i usually get zagg invisible shield

There is nothing wrong with them. My HD2 full body was free, just pay shipping. They do promos all the time on new/popular devices. if you pick a kindle or a laptop or gaming device, they are priced. they do it to get their name out there. these have less texture on the film than zagg does. its smoother in my opinion.
Just got this Stealth Guard In
Hey guys,
I just got this for my G2 and I would have to say that it doesn't protect as much as the BSE or ZAGG skins. IT seems as though their plotter that makes the 2d cuts to fit a 3d object isnt really equipped to do any type of compound curvature. I installed it because well, it's better than nothing until BSE has one.
Installation: Installing this skin is super easy because it doesn't cover any corners or edges.
Coverage: On the front, it covers the whole screen including the black edge and capacitive keys and the plastic area below the track pad.
On the back, it the aluminum batter plate, the flat surfaces of the soft plastic and the spaces above and below the volume key and micro-usb port.
It does not protect ANY corners!
So, if you plan on getting this case, be aware that it will protect your phone from normal scratches involved with placing your phone on its front or back but will not protect the edges sides and corners.
On the front, can I use it as just a screen protector? I want a screen protector, not sure about the full body coverage. I dunno, I just ordered it, guess I'll see how I like it when I receive it. I mean, it was only $2.85 or so, so if I do not like it, it's a non-issue to pitch it and go buy a ZAGG or the T-Mo branded screen protector.
But the main thing I am interested in is screen protection
I had one of these on my nexus and it sucked ass. Also got one for my friends vibrant. Def not worth it. Ill get a zagg for my phone. Remember, you get what you pay for.

Received mine today and installed it. Easy install and looks good. screen protector fits perfect. Only thing is edges are not protected due to the roundness, also the metal around the screen is exposed because of the roundness also I assume.
I got mine in the mail today. I had a really hard time with it. I got it on the battery protector okay, but it doesn't quite fit. One side is too long. It may shrink after drying.
It's wet application and I just could not bring myself to wet down my G2. You also have to squeegee the water out from under the cover once it is installed. I imagined drops of soapy water dropping down into the speaker grill while doing this. I attempted to put the back piece on. It is shaped like a "C" and goes around the battery cover and has a cut out for the camera. I tried and tried and just could not get it to fit right.
I think I will go to T-Mobile tomorrow and just get a screen protector, unless I can find someone to professionally install a full cover. So right now just the battery cover has the Stealth Guard on it. I'm okay with this for now.
I don't usually have trouble with these things, but this is my first wet install. I put a full decal set on my Cliq with no problems at all.... Dry install. It was from skinit.com and I really like it. I included some pictures of my Cliq because I really like the skin and I want to show it off So hopefully they get some in for the G2.

I did say it was easy, but this was my 4th wet install. For example near the speaker i pushed the water away from it. Also before i start to squeegee the water i lay a cloth over the area before i squeegee to absorb excess water. My 1st install was on my G1 which i ordered a stealth guard for as well, the current invisible shield on it is looking beat up.
Don't get the T-Mobile screen protector, its one of those anti smear ones. When its on the screen it makes it lookf pixelated a little and in my eyes, down plays our G2 screen resolution a lot. I would try a clear one from amazon, cheap, easy to install and clear to see through.

Actually I picked one up today and I really like it. I see what you are saying about the pixilation though. But the feel of this thing is excellent! Very smooth under the finger. I was also able to put it on without a single bubble or dust speck underneath. I had one like this for my Cliq and if I remember right the pixilation mostly went away after it was broken in.
I saw a Zagg shields kiosk in my mall when I went to get the screen protector. They were busy so I didn't get any pricing. Maybe after this one wears out I'll go get one professionally installed.

Agreed, I actually like the t-mobile screen protector better than any others I have used. I don't notice any pixelation at all. covers the whole screen perfectly. Seems durable. And it's SO nice not to be constantly wiping smudge marks away like I had to with other protectors.
I'll add this update at the beginning too: but StealthGuards are not great. No where near "full protection" like Zagg or BSE. I'm actually using the T-mobile snap on gel skin (smells like ass when new, but fits great) and T-mobile anti-smear screen protectors. Got both cheap cause wifey's an employee.
I want to get a gel cover from T-Mobile but I have leather case that it wouldn't fit into any more. Tried out some other ones in the store but they were also too small.

Maybe if you measure the G2 with the cover you like, you could find a leather case that fits but was intended for another phone.

Did anyone try these wet screen protectors on Sensation? I'm thinking about putting either Ghost armor, Bodyguardz or Skinomi screen protector. None of the the dry protectors stick to the corners. I would like to know which one is the best and which one has less orange peel.
Edit: and no, I don't think this belongs in the found best screen protector thread.
I use PhantomSkinz. Pretty good. Check the phantomskinz thread.

Just had a look at the thread. I'm liking it..........
Phantom Skinz.....I'm using it now and its the best one I've tried. And I tried Skinomi...don't even bother with that one!
They are all pretty much the same so I would go with the lowest price. If your getting the screen only then that is Phantom skinz, if you want full body that is Skinomi. Make sure you search for the coupon codes for a discount because they all have one. I got the full body from Skinomi for $15 and it is great.
Bodyguardz sucks, im gonna give phamtom a try
For screen protectors, go phantomskins. I have skinomi on my viewsonic gtablet because I it was practically free. It's ok for free almost free lol. No experience with bodyguardz so I cannot say.
On my N1 I have the bestskinsever one. Great sp IMO. Currently on my Sensation, I have the OEM HTC brand ones and work and look fine. I had issues aligning it, but that's because the OEM one has really no margin for error!
Good luck and post pics of what you get.
Ghost armor was 20 bucks installed and if something happens they replace it for free. Crystal clear I must say. Bring Ur own micro fiber cloth to wrap Ur phone for a few days while it dries. They will try to sell u a pouch for $10. If u want to do it itself and put it on u could save another $5 but Prefer to spend the money and if it doesn't look right the guy has to redo it for free.

I just got the Skinomi and so far I am impressed. There were 3 bubbles on it the morning after I applied it, but just like they said on their website, two have already disappeared and the third one is barely visible. I tried the non-liquid as well and they don't work.
If I get discoloration or any other problems I will try the Phantom Skinz next. I only did screen, not full body, if that matters.
GadgetShieldz
I've tried several. Skinomi, Zagg, and a few others. With most of the others, zagg especially, there was an orange peel texture to the screen/body cover. It wasn't too bad, and it protected the screen and body of the device very well. iv'e used these types of skins on several different devices (phones, tablets, netbook screen). All of them cost about the same, roughly $15 ish, for the screen alone and the protection is really very good. For about $25 - $30 you can buy full body protection. Now here's the kicker....
I saw a post on here a while back about one called Gadget Shieldz, so I checked into it. I found that it only cost like $6.95 for FULL BODY coverage. So I decided to give it a shot. I placed my order.
They come from India so shipping takes like 2 weeks. When it finally arrived, I was waiting for a back cover replacement from HTC so I chose to apply to the screen only at first.
Application was the type that is fairly common. You get a small pan of water, with some soap added (baby shampoo is best about 3-4 drops) and run it a bit sudsy. Dip your fingers in the solution to ensure they're pretty wet, and peel the protector off its sheet. your fingers need to stay wet to avoid prints. Dip the protector in the solution and then apply to the phone. this allows you to slide it around easily to get it where you want it, then simply squeegee the excess solution to an edge where you have a paper towel waiting to absorb the excess. With the curve of the glass on the sensation, the plastic card feeling protectors would never lay just right, but this shield did.
The screen protector went on extremely well, has no orange peel texture. it's perfectly smooth, and looks great on there. When I got my other battery cover, I chose the one I wanted to use and applied the rest of the gadget shieldz to it. Let me say this... The precision of the cutting that they did for the skin was remarkable. They are perfect. The installation of the body shieldz is not for the squeamish. It requires crazy amounts of patience because of the curves and you have to hold the skin in place for a while. If you take your time to be extra careful, you will love the results.
The only thing I don't see is a warranty. Zagg is a lifetime warranty even if you screw up the installation where you only have to pay for shipping. With this one I can't find any information on warranty, but for $7 it's really worth it.

What is the best screen protector?
I am looking at this one http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Skyro..._1_8?s=wireless&ie=UTF8&qid=1331135872&sr=1-8
I have the otterbox communicator and the screen protector did not work so well.
I don't know if they are the "best" but I've been happy with Ghost Armor. I had it on my Inspire and now on my SR. No complaints so far.
No hazy effect, easy to get fingerprints/smudges off, etc.
I think they are good quality, though that doesn't mean there aren't other good ones out there.
+1 for the ghost armor. While you're at it you might as well get the entire wrap done.
vakuti , but cheaper and decent the one by ringke ( pack of 2 ) is cool
I just picked up an iVisor AG. It's anti-glare, anti-fingerprint, 100% bubble-free, removable and washable. I am using with the otterbox defender, I took off the defenders screen protector and used this screen protector instead.
Here is a link to check it out, but I got it from AT&T.

I'm partial to Steinheil products myself. I've tried a myriad of different companies but the Steinheils seem to be my favorite. Here is the one that I'm using right now:
http://www.amazon.com/SGP-Samsung-S...1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1331570396&sr=1-1
i got both
http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Skyro..._1_8?s=wireless&ie=UTF8&qid=1331135872&sr=1-8
and
http://www.amazon.com/SGP-Samsung-S...9ING/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1332086793&sr=8-6
and i find that they are both nice and pretty much bubble free if put on right. i think the steinheil feels a bit more premium and more like glass
in my opinion this is the best and easiest way to apply a screen protector correctly and with the best results.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?NR=1&feature=endscreen&v=l-7bXUa4V5o
I am partial to the Steinheil products. I used to be a ghost armor fan but I don't like the wet application biz and the last time I used g armor it really darkened the screen. I have used the Steihheil (ultra crystal and ultra oleophobic) on the family phones now for a couple of generations (of phones ) and I am pleased with the results.
+1 on Steinheil, used it 2x (3 counting wash + reapply) on my Captivate. Now I am using Zagg Invisible Sheild on my 20% off from Best Buy Wireless. Not a matte screeen but anti-glare, easy instructions liquid apply and looks good + durable with lifetime no???s replacements.
End result: Wish I'd gotten Stienheil. ZIS needed too much wipedown and worst of all, didn't live up to scratch proof expectations. Trying something cheap from Amazon. Will post any positive outcome.

I find I prefer matte finish and the Anti-glare Matte Screen Protector for AT&T Samsung Galaxy S2 Skyrocket I727 - 2 pack by CASE123 at amazon for $1.95 went on super easy, looks fine at straight veiwing angles and fits and wears well. Shared cutout for the speaker and FFC at the top seems to be the major difference vs. more expensive SGP.
Don't get the AT&T one. It makes the screen dark and you have to press harder than normal.
One good thing about it is that you never get air bubbles.

Add my vote for GA. But I gotta break with you on the full body wrap. I let them talk me into a carbon fiber full wrap. I tore it off within minutes - I didn't think it was possible to make the SR even more slippery, but that did the trick. They may offer full wraps using the same material as the screen protector, which would probably be fine since it has some grip. Personally, I need protection from drops, so I need a case.

Is this screen protector the "rubbery" soft gel type? It looks like it has the "self heal" advertisement, so it's probably not the hard type right?
I would say it is soft, are you worried about finger drag like with the zagg invisible shields have, though i have read the Skinomi protectors are OK, non or little drag, i will have to wait till i get my Xtremeguard to find out.

Yep. I used to have full body kit from best skins or something for my iphone 4. I hated the orange peel effect and the resistance when swiping.
Yeah, same with me, i will not buy another zagg until i hear they have fixed the problems, for the price of the Xtremeguard i will take the chance.

Thanks buddy! purchased 2 screen protectors, can't beat 5$ incl international shipping
How's the quality on these?
i had it just for my s4 back... at first quite alot bubbles... after i woke up, most of them r gone left the stubborn ones.... if not its almost perfect
I've been using these on all my devices. I had an HTC thunderbolt, a nexus tab, and a S4. My original S4 had a USB port that died, so I was given a new one a few weeks back. I am currently in the process of getting more.
They do add a bit of that soft rubbery feeling. It's not game breaking though. You won't notice after so long. Coming back to the bare gorilla glass of the S4 feels too sensitive and resistance free. I also feels it smudges easier this way too.
The extremeguard protectors I have on my tbolt and nexus (applied sometime in mid 2012) are still there. The bubbles really do go away given time, and neither guard shows any scrapes or cuts...lord knows between moving, a 13 month old, and being my daily driver, at least one of them ought to show some battle damage.
The only ghetto thing about these things is that you have to make your own solution for the wet apply. Just add a drop of dish soap to a bowl of water. And it can be challenging to get it to set right. My advice would be to worry about placement, not bubbles. The bubbles will work out over time, but if you've got hang over from a crappy placement, you'll be annoyed for the rest of the time it's on your device.
I never took one of these off, so I can't speak to whether or not it peels of paint or finish. My backplate is from my original S4, and has an xtreme guard on if still...and I have no plans on removing it.
So...with the OP's coupon code, 2 bucks for 2 of these bad boys, plus free shipping? Yeah, that's a no brainer. Hop on it!

I really want to use the phone without a case and just a tgsp.. But I am unsure how scratch resistant it is. I am about to receive a replacement phone from Google as my first had issues. What do you guys use?
Definitely get a screen protector. Just having it in my pockets caused many small screen scratches over time.
As for the phone itself, the beveled metal edges around the screen scratch and dent VERY easily. A slight accidental bump can permanently mess it up pretty badly. The back metal of the phone seems to hold up very nicely, though.
i have no screen protector or case and I wouldnt have it any other way. That being said the edges are a thinner metal then a coke can so it will nick easily
This phone is too slippery to use without a case imo. I use a Spigen Thin Fit to help with grip and I'm happy.
Always wrap your thing!
Using a slickwraps skin. It's much easier to hold without a case because it's less heavy and thinner (due to how long the phone is)
I'm using my phone absolutely naked, have insurance in case something happens to it in lieu of a case.

I feel the same way however I'd like to keep this phone looking good.. I've gone with the Rhino bumper which is thin, discreet and you can still feel the back of the phone..plus the protection is supposed to be amazing.
The only problem I have now is that the case looks good too so I want to protect that now lol.
30 dollars with shipping, I'm in the UK and it came in under a week. A great case.
All I have on my phone is a dbrand skin. Unfortunately, I had an issue where it dropped a short distance (6 to 12 inches) and landed on a corner and it knicked up that corner near the screen pretty good, but not enough to convince me to buy a case yet... lol Haven't had any problems with any screen scratches or any other cosmetic damages yet.

I'm in the UK too. Did you get any customs charges or anything? Was it straight from Rhino shields website? Cheers

Straight from the evo labs website. No restrictions. Here within a week. I did pay p&p but that's expected. About 4 quid I think.
One thing id like to say though, the rear clearance is not 100% the very centre of the back is slightly exposed, the bumper does not offer complete clearance when you push it against a flat surface.
If you don't know what I mean.
Take your phone and slide the back of it along the edge of a surface, say a mantelpiece or a shelf and whilst the start of the case is covered, towards the middle is not..
Not the end of the world but I'd have liked the clearance, ironically, tech 21 always offers this , something to consider.

Unfortunately, my N6P is my only camera at the moment. I'm sure most people wouldn't even notice the ding from a distance, but every time I run my finger along it, I cry a little inside.
Have a good one!
I have a glass screen protector, a Dbrand black carbon fiber skin for the glass panel on the back, and carry the phone around in a FitBag pouch.
This phone is the first where i must have a case for traction, its soo slippery and i want to hold it casually and treat it like a normal phone. I bet if i had it in my pocket it will just defy gravity and just fly out, would get a skin but seeing how easy it was to bend the bezel with my finger nail, i dont want break it in the first year,
I got one of these, the thinnest case i could find.i know it wont help in a fall but it will help against wear and tear

I've always rocked my phones naked. This time around I'm using a skin. Had a front back skin. Did drop it once too >_<. Thankfully it's just a small dent right above the camera visor. The skin on my phone is slippery so I ordered a more grippier one and took off the front skin because ambient display works better without it.
I have only a d brand frame for the camera.
I have glass screen protector and tried a clear thin case, but am back to no case..just the glass. No problems. I did add a little non-slip round piece to the back..it stays in my pocket just a little better, and totally stops it from sliding off a flat surface.
In and out of pocket all day, I am not real careful about keys or coins and no issues. I have done this with HTC M7,8,9 also with no problems. I hate hiding a good looking phone with an ugly case...and no case I have ever seen enhances the look.
Any one know of a transparant case that is compatible with slickwraps? Bought the galactic series but want some extra protection...

I think it needs no protector. However,my wife bought an iPely screen protector from Amazon for me.I think it feels perfect. That's great.
