What is the best screen protector?
I am looking at this one http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Skyro..._1_8?s=wireless&ie=UTF8&qid=1331135872&sr=1-8
I have the otterbox communicator and the screen protector did not work so well.
I don't know if they are the "best" but I've been happy with Ghost Armor. I had it on my Inspire and now on my SR. No complaints so far.
No hazy effect, easy to get fingerprints/smudges off, etc.
I think they are good quality, though that doesn't mean there aren't other good ones out there.
+1 for the ghost armor. While you're at it you might as well get the entire wrap done.
vakuti , but cheaper and decent the one by ringke ( pack of 2 ) is cool
I just picked up an iVisor AG. It's anti-glare, anti-fingerprint, 100% bubble-free, removable and washable. I am using with the otterbox defender, I took off the defenders screen protector and used this screen protector instead.
Here is a link to check it out, but I got it from AT&T.

I'm partial to Steinheil products myself. I've tried a myriad of different companies but the Steinheils seem to be my favorite. Here is the one that I'm using right now:
http://www.amazon.com/SGP-Samsung-S...1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1331570396&sr=1-1
i got both
http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Skyro..._1_8?s=wireless&ie=UTF8&qid=1331135872&sr=1-8
and
http://www.amazon.com/SGP-Samsung-S...9ING/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1332086793&sr=8-6
and i find that they are both nice and pretty much bubble free if put on right. i think the steinheil feels a bit more premium and more like glass
in my opinion this is the best and easiest way to apply a screen protector correctly and with the best results.

I am partial to the Steinheil products. I used to be a ghost armor fan but I don't like the wet application biz and the last time I used g armor it really darkened the screen. I have used the Steihheil (ultra crystal and ultra oleophobic) on the family phones now for a couple of generations (of phones ) and I am pleased with the results.
+1 on Steinheil, used it 2x (3 counting wash + reapply) on my Captivate. Now I am using Zagg Invisible Sheild on my 20% off from Best Buy Wireless. Not a matte screeen but anti-glare, easy instructions liquid apply and looks good + durable with lifetime no???s replacements.
End result: Wish I'd gotten Stienheil. ZIS needed too much wipedown and worst of all, didn't live up to scratch proof expectations. Trying something cheap from Amazon. Will post any positive outcome.
Use extreme guardz screen protector same build quality similar to the zagg. Best part 1.99 for front, 4.99 for full body! Worth everywhere penny

I find I prefer matte finish and the Anti-glare Matte Screen Protector for AT&T Samsung Galaxy S2 Skyrocket I727 - 2 pack by CASE123 at amazon for $1.95 went on super easy, looks fine at straight veiwing angles and fits and wears well. Shared cutout for the speaker and FFC at the top seems to be the major difference vs. more expensive SGP.
Don't get the AT&T one. It makes the screen dark and you have to press harder than normal.
One good thing about it is that you never get air bubbles.

I have used Wrapsol full body wraps for years, Awesome self adhesive body wraps but cost a lot of money. Was surfing one day and come across bestskinsever and was kind of skeptic but dove right on in and am very happy with the cost and quality protection. Ordered online for $10.99 total and got my full body wrap in 3 days. They're options are screen protector for $6.99, back wrap for $6.99 or the full body wrap for $8.99+shipping. Awesome and quality product without the high prices.

got 7 of these http://www.ebay.ca/itm/290702989748?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2648 for under $3, it may not be the best but for the price cant go wrong, it says resuable but havent tried to reuse yet, but with 7 of them who cares, touch works perfect, finger prints dont show, easy to wipe down when it gets dirty, like eating finger foods and still using phone, the only time i get to c how dirty i got it is when in direct sunlight with screen off, here r some pics of my phone with it on with my tpu case post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1678753

Add my vote for GA. But I gotta break with you on the full body wrap. I let them talk me into a carbon fiber full wrap. I tore it off within minutes - I didn't think it was possible to make the SR even more slippery, but that did the trick. They may offer full wraps using the same material as the screen protector, which would probably be fine since it has some grip. Personally, I need protection from drops, so I need a case.

So, after watching the Zagg youtube video on how easily the the
Captivate's screen scratches. I decided I once again needed a screen protector; so I did a search on amazon and found xtreme guards. For $2 your can get a screen protector (which is what I did) for $5 you can get a full body protector, so my screen protector came in today, and I gotta say I'm pretty impressed with the quality; it's easily the best screen protector in terms of material I've ever had (and I've had tons of em).the best way to describe it is like the window decals you put on your house for holidays only thinner.when installing you of course get a hard plastic installation card, and when working out the bubbles and install solution I was surprised to find the protector it's self not scratching! like so many other countless protector I've installed in the past. The instructions said it takes about 2 days for any hazeyness or bubbles from the install to go away and there's a little of both still left. The bubbles are no big deal as I expected them because I SUCK at putting these things on. However I would like the hazeyness to go away but only time will tell. Bottom line for the price these things are amazing! And if your insecure about scratches like me then you need one of these. I give it my kick ass product stamp of approval!

Zagg is also pretty impressive. Although it is quite a bit more money you easily get what its worth. Zagg also makes me condoms xD jk
The biggest and main reason for me only buying ZAGG products is because of the lifetime warranty they come with. To me its a no brained for a protector. If I mess it up they send me a new one free of charge. If the corner peels or it gets caught on something they send me a new one. Greatest protector in my opinion.

I had the full ZAGG on my Evo and loved it! Does anyone know if they make a full one for the Fascinate WITH the extended battery and door? I couldn't find anything about it on their site but wondered since it's an OEM accessory?

Yea my only problem with zagg is paying $14-$24 for a thin piece of plastic that I can never apply perfectly anyways.
Sent from my crippled with Bing, Galaxy S phone.
With my Droid X I went with a Steinheil Ultra Crystal and it was really great because it covered the whole display and was perfectly clear, very transparent user experience.
Since then I traded the X in for the Fascinate and unfortunately Steinheil hasn't released the same protector for the Fascinate yet. So for now I went with Zagg shield because the Verizon branded protectors are horrid (don't cover whole display, nasty texture, and dull the gorgeous display).
I'm not too impressed with the Zagg, but it covers the whole front and is relatively responsive and clear.
My biggest gripe is the orange peel effect as well as little lines of distortion (almost looks like application solution that didn't dry or something, like a water / oil on screen effect).
It also takes 24hrs to "properly apply" so that may be a downside because they tell you to turn the device off until dry.
Also the material has a habit of retaining any indentation from fingernails and such, almost like a rubber memory type plastic.
Perhaps some of my issues are to do with poor application of the protector so personal experience may vary. Some people were saying it takes 2 weeks of heavy use to fully cure. These are nit picky gripes of flaws I see in Zagg compared to the Steinheil. I believe Zagg to be a more professional military grade protector, but the steinheil seems to offer a better viewing experience.
I would recommend going with something temporarily and then switching it out for the Steinheil once they are available, my preference of course.
Steinheil Ultra Clears are THE BEST CLEAR screen protectors out there, period. Nothing is more optically clear, durable, no orange peel/distortion, easy to install, able to be installed with NO dust, etc. I've used every brand of screen protector out there over the last 15 years, and they are THE BEST I've used.
As mentioned, they're not out yet for our phone though. I e-mailed them and they said they are going to be making them but they're a few weeks out at least. They suggested watching their twitter / facebook page.
So since they're not out, I'd recommend going with "whatever" for now. I'm going to use one of those $2 full protection ones that are mentioned in this forum
The best ANTI GLARE protectors, are Boxwave ones. But given how beautiful this display is, I don't think I could recommend putting an anti glare on this screen.
I just want one that covers up the whole face of the phone
you can get a bunch of those on ebay
I just bought the Realook screen protectors from Amazon - they cover the whole screen and are very clear, can't even tell it's on there. Fairly easy to apply too - they are $9.99 for two of them.

I got the $2 Stealth Guards "full" body protector, mini review:
The Stealth Guards films are better than nothing, but not much grippier than stock (in terms of the battery door slipperiness issue). They come with just two films, front and back. Application and clarity is similar to other "invisible shield" type products. Not a very good screen protector (orange peel, tiny bubbles, not crystal clear), Steinheil is WAY better, but they don't have them yet for our phones so I'll use this in the mean time. Also, they cover the light/prox sensor at the top of the phone, which I found made the automatic backlight adjustment sorta freak out and switch more often than it should (probably because the protector is relatively thick and not crystal clear) - I cut a tiny window out around them with a razor blade and that fixed the issue. They shipped in an envelope, inside another envelope, I ordered 3 sets for myself and friends, and every one came with wrinkling/damage. Fortunately the films are very durable so the films themselves were unharmed - it was the paper backing that was wrinkled. Still, they could of reinforced the envelope with a little cardboard.... Also they come with no instructions or packing at all, just bulk/oem packed. Still, for $2 they were worth it, but not worth much more than that.
I just got a Fascinate today and it should arrive tomorrow or Wed. Since the recommended Steinheil wasn't available, I decided to get a Zagg InvisibleShield since I had one on my TP2 and it was fine after it dried for a few days and got a few days use. If anyone else wants to get one, I found a 50% off discount code for Zagg products that worked, so I got it for $10 with standard shipping. Use code "50sport" when checking out and you should get 50% off your order.

Hey guys, I remember watching this youtube video (go to 2:22) and you can tell that the Fascinate is just a little bit taller than the Vibrant:
Since I am a new member, I can't post links, but go to youtube and search "samsung fascinate review mobile burn" and it is the first video that shows up (part 1 of 2). Again, go to the 2:22 mark and you can see the difference.
Hope this helps

Steinheil has their Ultra-Clear screen protectors available for the DROID Charge. I just ordered one and I'm hoping it works out better than the ZAGG Invisibleshield did on my Fascinate. See here
I put their incredible shield plus the ultracrystal screen protector on my Fascinate, and absolutely love it. The tacky feeling around the phone is nice for grip (especially with games) but still can slide in my pocket. And of course, the screen protector itself is smooth as glass.
Nice to see it coming out so soon for the Charge, it was weeks before the Fascinate's was available.
I swear by Steinheil. I love the way they glide onto the surface, no hassle and no bubbles.

I got the ultra-crystal as I didn't want any distortion to the screen and don't really care about fingerprints as they can always be wiped off.
I know I'm double posting, but I wanted to bump this to share. I got my screen protector in the mail yesterday afternoon and was able to put it on my phone last night. The ultra-crystal protectors are THICK, much thicker than I was expecting. Installation was fairly simple, didn't have to turn my phone off or anything, which is nice coming from ZAGG. There is no distortion to the screen at all, and you can barely tell that I even have a screen protector on it. I unfortunately got a small piece of dust that I can't get off at the bottom edge and that is the only place you can really see that something is covering the screen. Will see how it holds up over the next week or two, now that I'll be a little less careful since the screen won't get scratched.

I love it too, and the areas that weren't fully pressed down due to what I thought was dust disappeared, so I guess it just took a little time to fully fasten itself. The fit is almost 100% matched to the glass, so you really have to look to see that it's even there.
Looks like they are temporarily out of the Ultra Crystal. I was going to pull the trigger and that option is gone...
Edit:Well, it looks like the full-body shields ship with the UC screen protector, if you wanted full coverage.
Quick question: do these shields cover or interfere with the front-facing camera? From the illustrations, it looks like the shield covers the front camera.

Where was that?! I just spent a good twenty minutes looking on Amazon for it and didn't see it anywhere...are these really worth the price? I assume yes, given the reaction you all have to Steinheil's products, but thought I'd ask.
I got the ultra crystal. I can barely tell it's there. Lots of finger prints... but I don't mind too much.
How does Steinheil compare to Bodyguardz, Zaggs, BSE, or clean protector?
I ask cuz I'm looking for full body protector? Plus does anyone have discount codes?
If you can wait a week or so just get some decent cheap ones off ebay like these
http://cgi.ebay.com/5-CLEAR-Screen-...238019?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item3a66966f03
I ended up ordering some of the ultra crystal from amazon and am very impressed.
I am less impressed with my skills, I managed to get a little piece of dust on my second attempt to apply... but other than that the thing is perfect, and my dust ended up being in a corner so i didn't want to waste another protector.
Definitely worth the money, all other protectors "ruin" the screen for me, its such a nice screen, but it still needs protection.
I had a good experience with Zagg, but hated the rubbery feel. So, I was looking into getting a Steinheil protector.
Any stores carry these like Best Buy does Zagg? Or is it online only?
I bought the cheap 3 pack from Verizon to hold me over and ugh. Super clear, but bubbles on the edges are almost impossible to prevent. I love the texture better than zagg, but there is some glare outdoors.
Is it possible to get these cheap ones on with the edges coming up? I ask because I don't think I ever seen a phone without the bubbles on the edges.

Don't you guys like XtremeGuard? Which one would you recommend, XtremeGuard or BSE or Skinomi?
I recommend Armorsuit or XOskins. Armorsuit is available on Amazon and XOskin here. XOskin original price is more expensive but they are good but use 55% off coupon code cybermondayftw on XOskin when you checkout and today is last day for the coupon code. Hope that helps. I have heard people complaining that other screen protectors was missing the cutout for the proximity sensor but XOskin has the cutout so I ordered XOskin. I don't know if Armorsuit has the proximity sensor cutout or not but I know their quality is good because I have used them before too. Hope that helps.

--wrong thread---
I can vouch for the quality of Ghost Armor. Used these screen protectors for all of my devices. It adds good protection and just the right amount of "resistance" to touch, all while maintaining excellent clarity considering the durability of the material. Good scratch protection and self-heals most of your typical little scratches. I currently have one on my N4, and I am not disappointed at all. The guys and gals at the booth do an outstanding job applying it, and you have a lifetime warranty on it. Can't beat that.
I can also vouch for the quality of ghost armor as well. The camera and proximity sensors are perfectly cut out, and it feels just like glass. It has a wonderful texture and clarity unlike any other screen shield I have used before. I have a tight case on and it doesn't peel at all. Their warranty system is excellent as well, a free replacement if your current one peels/dents (I have yet to experience this). If you do go for the replacement, you may want to bring in your old screen protector if you peeled it off, as the mall stand near me requires that you bring it in order to receive a replacement.
One thing I dislike is that it doesn't cover the curved edges on the right and left sides. I hope they will fix this in an updated version of the skin, but otherwise, to me it is the perfect screen protector.
I also recommend these guys. Outstanding product with a lifetime warranty. I had the screen protector put on my Nexus 7 about a month ago and I am just as happy with it as from day one. Since then I've had my wife take her iPad Mini in for a screen protector as well. Certainly worth the money spent, although I can't vouch for the skins.
So, I've had my N4 since the beginning of December and since then I've gone back and forth between the two skins. I've been using the XtremeGuard skin for about a month now. Before that I was using the Skinomi full body protector, even the sides. Both were wet applications, but the Skinomi came with its own spray bottle and applicator tools. The XtremeGuard came came in an envelope and instructions only: Basically, put drop of dishwashing soap in a small bowl of water, then dunk the skin and apply on the phone. The end result was a great fit, but.... the skin ended up being too sticky for my own taste. The price was unbelievable cheap. I just couldn't get away from the stickyness and of course the extreme orange-peel effect. But, I had already purchased a second set as a "backup" just in case I needed a set. Like I said, it was very cheap, like almost $9, shipped.
Now, the Skinomi was much more pricier, but I'm sure it was worth it. Like I said, a spray bottle, squeege, and large black felt wipe with the Skinomi logo. The front and back application was a breeze, like most front and back screen protector applications. The little trick to get the skin to stay down over the edges, or curved corners for that matter is the same: to get the curved sides and corners to stick down you have to wait a few minutes for the skin that is going to touch the screen/phone to dry up a bit. It needs to become sticky in order to stay down. I wait another minute or two and keep trying to keep the edges down. Eventually the skin stays down on the curved edges. For the front skin, I lined up the top perfectly, and the bottom is a little over 1 mm from completely covering the front. The back is even a better fit, less than 1 mm missing from all four edges. Really great coverage. Now the sides, eh, it's a ***** to get the curved corners. The pieces are long to apply and keep slipping. Eventually I got the corners to stay down, but over time from using the phone the corners would start to come up and then collect lint. I think I've given up on protecting the sides and corners that I just ordered the stock bumper and will use that to protect the edges before they get more dinged. Now that it's been 24 hours, WOW! I am very impressed. I can barely feel that there is a skin on top. Yes, it feels a little stick, but I have to put emphasis on "little". It's nowhere near sticky as the Xtreme. And the finish! WOW! The only problem is my oily fingers. I guess that's what the skinomi wipe is for?
That just my 2 cents. oh, btw, the Skinomi was very very little orange-peel look, and it's almost like a mirror. The best skin I've ever used so far (Xtreme, Skinomi, and Zagg).
Had an extreme guard on my s3, didn't like it just like you mentioned, it felt "sticky".... But it is very durable. Also don't like the wet application.

I personally thought xtreme guard was garbage. There's a night and day quality difference between skinomi and xtreme guard. You really do get what you pay for here. You can even see it in the packaging.

I didn't know. Please forgive me. I didn't know. I was lured in by the cheap price, but I've seen the light!
Just ordered the skinomi one.. I also debated to order XtremeGuard but saw the reviews weren't so good.
I'm going to try and take a different approach and try to let the sides heal and for all the bubbling and haze to subside, then I will put my bumper on, hopefully that should eliminate the issue of the edges raising up?
I bought a Skintomi way back for my Galaxy Nexus just randomly because I was having so much trouble sorting out which brand was worth anything from all the conflicting reviews, and boy am I glad I did. It is still awesome. I liked it so much I ordered the full body model for my Nexus 4. I got a great deal from a guy on ebay, I think the front cover model was like 8 bucks and the full body Nexus 4 model was less than 17.
I have to agree with the stickiness of wet applied screen protectors.
I've only used xtremeguard for for my N4 cuz I didn't really see a need to buy another/ different screen protector afterwards, so can't say anything about the others. For the first couple of days after application (like a week or so), it was almost impossible to push your thumb across the screen (dragging thumb across the screen fared a little better). After a while however it became significantly easier to use the touchscreen because the oil on my finger started to make the screen more slippery, but no where near the slipperiness of a dry install. I can easily swipe on the default keyboard but it could be better.
Right now I'm contemplating whether to spray some dust repellent on the screen protector; playing air hockey on the kitchen table is a breeze after spraying some.
Just my $0.02
N4 skinomi are hit and miss. The sides do not stick very well and lift up easy. The solutions tends to leave large bubble markings between the screen and the skin. After a month, the skin has lots of scar indentations, like worms or ants traveling in sand leaving trails. Much like those you create when pressing down too hard when applying the skin with the squeegee. Any cover or case that touches the top will lift push or cause the skin to bubble.
I've use skinomi on several devices, first one that's not "good". Same results on 3 replacements. Gonna try another brand.
I've used xtremeguard on other devices and they've worked well too. Loved it on my s3 . After some cure time it's not as sticky as when applied. But black specs in envelope and lately the material of the skin has changed. So it's quality has been randomly lacking.

Anti static spray? Wonder how that will affect the touch screen.
Do people really care this much about screen protector brands? I bought one generic one from eBay and it does all I want it to: keep my screen clean.

No, brand should not matter, but quality does. There is a list of personal requirements that I have and Skinomi (so far) meets those requirements, whereas others do not. That's not to say a cheaper cost product is better or as good. I have yet to try Zagg for my N4, but I have used the Zagg HD in the past. I want to try out BSE see how well that works.

Yeah of course we do. Different brands make a huge difference. Spend the 8 bucks on a Skintomi from ebay and try it for a few weeks and you'll see what we mean.
I ordered some skins from xtreme guard, the lower prices got me too, shipping to canada was around $3 which is awesome . Still waiting to get them so I have no reviews yet. Used BSE before, I think they are great, but getting so expensive. now buying for a 3rd phone (waiting for 2nd rma).

thanks 4 this. Ordered a few
Is this screen protector the "rubbery" soft gel type? It looks like it has the "self heal" advertisement, so it's probably not the hard type right?
I would say it is soft, are you worried about finger drag like with the zagg invisible shields have, though i have read the Skinomi protectors are OK, non or little drag, i will have to wait till i get my Xtremeguard to find out.

Yep. I used to have full body kit from best skins or something for my iphone 4. I hated the orange peel effect and the resistance when swiping.
Yeah, same with me, i will not buy another zagg until i hear they have fixed the problems, for the price of the Xtremeguard i will take the chance.

How's the quality on these?
i had it just for my s4 back... at first quite alot bubbles... after i woke up, most of them r gone left the stubborn ones.... if not its almost perfect
I've been using these on all my devices. I had an HTC thunderbolt, a nexus tab, and a S4. My original S4 had a USB port that died, so I was given a new one a few weeks back. I am currently in the process of getting more.
They do add a bit of that soft rubbery feeling. It's not game breaking though. You won't notice after so long. Coming back to the bare gorilla glass of the S4 feels too sensitive and resistance free. I also feels it smudges easier this way too.
The extremeguard protectors I have on my tbolt and nexus (applied sometime in mid 2012) are still there. The bubbles really do go away given time, and neither guard shows any scrapes or cuts...lord knows between moving, a 13 month old, and being my daily driver, at least one of them ought to show some battle damage.
The only ghetto thing about these things is that you have to make your own solution for the wet apply. Just add a drop of dish soap to a bowl of water. And it can be challenging to get it to set right. My advice would be to worry about placement, not bubbles. The bubbles will work out over time, but if you've got hang over from a crappy placement, you'll be annoyed for the rest of the time it's on your device.
I never took one of these off, so I can't speak to whether or not it peels of paint or finish. My backplate is from my original S4, and has an xtreme guard on if still...and I have no plans on removing it.
So...with the OP's coupon code, 2 bucks for 2 of these bad boys, plus free shipping? Yeah, that's a no brainer. Hop on it!
