Howto
Boot into recovery - While phone is off hold the Home, Volume Up and Power buttons until you see your recovery.
I can never seem to remember this. I always end up in "Samsung Download Mode" and panic.
I've flashed the CM build you've linked in this post, but my phone won't boot past the cycling blue CyanogenMod logo.
I've tried rebooting and waiting for periods of between 10 and 30 minutes with no different results.
Does anyone know what's wrong?

"Forum thread" link for the 10.1 nightlies isn't right, it redirects to Nardholio's reply in the GPS thread...
Also, a link to the GitHub page for TeamApexQ might be in order, since that's the official place to file bug reports.

thanks for the feedback.
original post updated.
Thread needs updates!
Hey, @kilr00y, can you update with the latest modem, and bootloader? (As they appear to be needed by the latest nightlies to work) -- you posted them in another thread here.
CWM out of date!
Also, can you update the CWMs you posted here? There is a newer ODIN flashable one (and also CWM flashable one) posted by @Nardholio here. It fixes a major bug -- if we use the one linked to and flash the latest nightlies we end up with all kinds of "0/0/0/0" folders on the root of our phones!

Really? Because, 6.0.2.8 is the newest I've seen. When I install the nightly zips from CWM, it appears unmodified, and the version # stays at 6.0.2.8. So... are we talking about the same thing?
(Also, when I install the latest nightlies with the older version of CWM, CWM does not upgrade to 6.0.2.8, either. It stays at the messed up older version. That's why when I flashed like 20 different roms I ended up with twenty nested /0/ folders -- upgrading to 6.0.2.8, wiping, and re-flashing fixed all that.)
Edit:
Okay, I responded too quickly; I re-read what you wrote, @Nardholio, -- so "recovery.img" contains CWM somehow? And it has a newer version than 6.0.2.8... and is updated daily? -- Is that correct?
How do you install a "recovery.img" file? When I click on "PDA" in ODIN 3 it only knows how to open *.tar, *.md5, and *.smd. So... what does one do with a "recovery.img" file?

You don't need odin 'If you have any previous cwm/recovery flashable zips.'
Simply replace the recovery.img from that old flashable recovery with one of latest from the nightly jenkins builds.
Then flash withing recovery.
(For every nightly you will see a 'recovery.img' file - download one of the latest, these are nightly cwm recovery builds.)
This was the method prescribed to me by lbcoder & nard when I was trying to upgrade my cwm from 6.0.2.8 to a more recent recovery (6.0.3.3)
Worked a treat.
Tip: once flashed in recovery, goto advanced and 'reboot into recovery' to ensure the flash worked and you do indeed have a new recovery (keep a note of the build number displayed in recovery at the top of the recovery screen.)
Very easy, enjoy

You don't need to be rooted really. Just flash TWRP and do a back up (just your boot image so it's a quick back up) just so it creates the backup directory structure on your sd card. Boot into android and just put the folder that you unzip from the file in the OP in the same folder /sdcard/0/twrp/backup/HT?????/ folder (you'll see a similar time stamped one that you just made) plop the unzipped folder into there and then reboot back into twrp and restore.
Or you can just flash CWM and then flash that zip like any other zip
Does anyone have the radio.img from the 4.3 dump? Would love to give that a whirl over here in the states, see if anything improves.

Here's a pretty thorough root method similar to if not the same as the one I used.
http://www.android.gs/root-galaxy-s-blaze-4g/
After you root you're gonna need a 4.3 recovery.
http://d-h.st/Osd
Thank KTempleton for that one.
And 4.3 Gapps
http://goo.im/gapps/gapps-jb-20130813-signed.zip
And of course the 4.3 ROM of your choice
Boot into recovery and make a nandroid back up.
Flash CWM package you just downloaded.
Reboot system then reboot back into 4.3 recovery.
Do a full wipe. That's data reset, wipe cache partition, wipe dalvik and format system (under mounts and storage)
Flash ROM then flash gapps.
If all steps are followed properly you will be running 4.3 in no time.
Make sure to read all instructions contained in the OP of the ROM you wish to download.
Please do not hold me responsible if anything goes wrong
Happy flashing.

You forgot you need a custom recovery to flash KTs 4.3 recovery. or it must be pulled from the zip and manually flashed.
To make it easy, either follow Skywalker's root thread or go to the Blaze bible thread an use KOnane's GB Odin root thread at the top. After you have root, use Rom manager to flash the latest cwm, which will work with 4.3. Then go ahead with the Sky's above and backup, wipes and flashing your favorite rom.

There is everything you could need for the blaze. This little phone has a lot of support.

Odin restock http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1591601
But there is a new way to restock right back to then latest ICS. It is in the last few pages of the restock thread. Here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=44626072&postcount=117
Posted these instructions on quite a few threads but here you go...
So first register at www.sammobile.com, then search SGH-T769 under firmware and download the August 2012 ICS or The Feb 2013 ICS Firmware, wait for the download to finish (took me 30 minutes) then extract which ever firmware zip you downloaded then using Odin click on PDA and select the .md5 file which is located in the extracted ICS Firmware Folder that you've downloaded from sammobile.com
Download the PIT file here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1919228
Click on PIT in Odin and then select the one downloaded from the link above
then make sure re-partition isn't checked and start the flashing process after it is done flashing and reboots you'll have stock ics to root it simply follow the instructions over at the root ics stock thread found here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1919228
This will flash a custom recovery and once the recovery is flashed using Odin reboot into recovery and flash the superuser.zip then you'll have Rooted Stock ICS Firmware
*BOOT LOOP MIGHT OCCUR*
To fix boot looping after flashing stock ICS just boot into stock recovery and wipe data and cache then reboot or on custom recover wipe cache and dalvik cache reboot and you're good to go.
If I helped you in anyway don't be afraid to hit thanks!

Tommyboy is right. Though I will say as they are far from perfect they are stable enough to be daily drivers. I've been running 4.3 for a while now, and the biggest, or most annoying issue I have faced is wake screen delay. I can't stand it lol. Also speakerphone is a big one for some people. But yea, I've had no serious issues with any 4.3 rom. Except for that one time when I started using philz touch and it just wasn't doing it for me... But that is beside the point lol Try BeanStalk or the newly posted PACMAN ROM. Or CARBONrom. Or Dirty Unicorns. Or CM10.2 You can't go wrong lol.

Which recovery are you using? I do not know what version of recovery that ROM manager gets you. I've never used that. Please specifically flash a compatible recovery. Some time not long before the release of the recovery I linked, recovery could not access SD cards on the relay. The one linked is certified as compatible. If you're having trouble with your backup restore using that recovery, than it's likely a problem on your card or the backup set.

Once you install it, remember to go into advanced, and reboot to recovery so that you're using the newer one rather than your older one.
Also, everyone, it's been pointed out that I'm an idiot. I was using a ParanoidAndroid Gapps package, that was deleting Gallery2, and replacing it with GoogleGallery. When using the correct Gallery app, video recording works fine.

I'll point out where I say in the subject of the OP, this is a Pre-Alpha, and later in the thread where I said that the team is not quite ready to be in full support mode for this version, this is a preview release. The camera though is quite stable, so long as you are using the certified gapps linked by Nardholio, and also linked in the OP.

The rommanager's one is 6.0.3.8, but can't mount the sdcard (need external mSD-reader).
Why doesn't it work on my phone ? Strange :s

Hi – I have a stubborn issue with my Blaze 4G not working on CM roms, I would appreciate any help you guys can provide. Below are the details:
I recently bought a T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S Blaze 4G, and did the following:
- Rooted it using the following guide (it now has ICS)
- SIM Unlocked it using the following guide (now it works on other networks)
- Updated to CWM 6.0.3.8, since JB roms needs it
- Flashed the T769-UVLH5 modem, since CM support it
And now when I flash CM 10 stable or 10.2 nightly it gets stuck in booting and displaying the CM logo animation screen, after few minutes it reboots and does it all over again.
I remember when I upgraded to CM JB on my SGS3 I needed to flash a JB stock rom on it to get the new boot loaders for JB, but I saw no mention of this on this forum. What else am I missing?
Thanks.

You wiped data/cache/system? Reinstall it. Anyways use the new 6.0.4.4 recovery.

Thanks Somcom. I have to admit that I forgot to do the wipes. but even after doing the wipes (data/system/ factory rest/ cach/devalk) and reinstalling the CM nightly, I still have the same issue.
as for recovery, I updated to the latest version using the rom manager, and according to the official site clockworkmod[dot]com[slash]rommanager (can't post links) I have the latest version for Blaze. how do you get the 6.0.4.4 on blaze?
I still feel it's a ICS vs JB bootloaders issue, but not sure how to proceed next.
Thanks!

Thanks Somcom3X, but still didn't work. When installing the CM room in recovery 6.0.4.4 I get a bunch of getprop assert failures. This used to work on the previous version (6.0.3.8). Now the Rom won't install.
Also, I'm curious what did you mean by this is before Samsung's complications?
Thanks

After 2011 samsung began installing software and counters to try and prevent people from rooting and installing custom firmwares.
knox is an example of this.
These devices don't have any of that complicated security.
You handy with odin? Your recovery is not right. Just to be clear, what is your model number?
If it is T 7 6 9, your good to go to odin. I'd recommend going back to stock, and then install a recovery and you should be good to go.

Thanks again, I use the guide here to convert the image into a tar.md5 to flash using odin, but after flashing successfully I still have the same issue when installing the CM zip file in recovery, and yes it is the T-mobile Samsung Galaxy S Blaze 4G T769.
any other possible causes?
BTW - when I was flashing via Odin my upload phone screen was showing that I have a custom rom and the counter was 1.... do I need to fix that?

SOLUTION:
The reason your stock recovery system keeps getting overwritten at Android startup is because of a script that is being run.* All you need to do is either rename this script or simply delete it.
Please keep in mind that if you restore your stock ROM, this script will be restored with it so you will have to rename or delete it again.* Do the following:*
1.
Make sure your device is powered on and running normally,
2.
Make sure you have rooted your device and that you have all of the necessary permissions in order to manipulate system files.*
3.
In the root file system go to \system\etc
4.
Find the file named install-recovery.sh and either rename it or, as I did, delete it.*
That’s all there is to it.*
Please keep in mind that you will need to flash your custom system recovery one more time after modifying the script file.* After that, reboot away and you will always be able to get back into your new system recovery.
Good Luck and Happy Tweaking.

Thanks Somcom3X - but I'm not sure this is needed for my case. I read the original blog post and my recovery does not get overwritten. I actually rebooted multiple times into CWM recovery and each time it is the same 6.0.4.4.
I also went into the /system/etc folder and there is no install_recovery.sh file.
to clarify, here is where I'm stuck now:
- when I use CWM 6.0.3.8 CM install completes successfully, but then CM will not boot, and will keep on cycling on the boot logo screen.
- when I use CWM 6.0.4.4 I can't start to install CM as it complained that my phone is not t769.
in all cases I'm using CM 10.2 nightly for T769.
Thanks for the help.
You should delete assert lines at the top of the zip's updater-script and it will let you flash it.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-T769 using Tapatalk
I removed the assert lines from the updater script, and it was able to complete the install process afterwards, however when I booted the new CM 10.0 system it got stuck on the cyanogenmod boot logo. I made sure I do a system/data rest, cleared cash, and cleared devalk.
I do not think it's an issue with my recovery as I'm getting the same result as I did with the official 6.0.3.8.
Something else is going on.
Any ideas?
Thanks.

Ok, my rooted ICS stock is acting up (random shutdowns and such), so I need to give this another try and get this phone to CM.
I tared back to stock GB, skipped the upgrade to ICS (was not able to upgrade via the ROM software update option), flashed CWMR (5.0.4.x) via Odin, upgraded to CWMR 6.0.4.5, installed CM 11 nightly, and then wiped data/factory rest and Dalvik .... and ....
it is still stuck on the boot screen....
I seriously would appreciate a silver bullet right now!

It would be cwm 6.0.2.7
You can flash the img through a zip or by terminal on the phone.
Odin needs a tar'd recovery img

Thanks Somcom3X - I looked all over this forum and the internet, and could not find a link for a 6.0.2.7 CWM for Blaze - I found it for other phones but not Blaze. can you please point me to a link if you happen to know of one. the official site does not have an archived list of previous versions.
as for the provided link, I did follow it through, and downloaded the recovery Tar (it was CWM 5.5.04) but that yielded the same results after installing CM 10 and 10.2 - stuck at boot screen logo. I'm reasonably confident now that it is not a recovery issue, as I flashed half a dozen different versions and none worked with CM 10, 10.2, or 11.... it has to be something else!
Thanks.

Hey guys,
I had an older version of ParanoidAndroid on my Tab2 and I wanted to install something else. So I found a ROM here and tried to install it from CWM. I (think I) made the dumb mistake of formatting everything before installing, and during installation it just... failed. I googled since and found that the current version of CWM might be incompatible with 4.4 (that the ROM was running). Whatever the case, it's now stuck in a boot loop and I don't know what to do. Any suggestions?
When you formatted everything, did you mean /system to?
Sent from my One X using xda app-developers app
Nope. Sorry for the bad wording, I meant that from CWM I did a "wipe data/factory reset", wiped cached partition, dalvik cache.
First is there a way you can update your CWM recovery? Also, can you still enter download mode to flash?

First, I don't know how to update the CWM recovery. I found updates on the CWM website (can't link to it due to low post count here) but it only has .img files, which Odin doesn't support. I don't know any other method of installing this other than Odin, at this point.
And yes, I can still enter download mode, and CWM. I just don't know what to do with them.
