It's impossible
Windows is closed source. Not like Android

Well nothing impossible but No you wont be able to and likely never will. As others have said is closed source BUT it IS possible to run on our device but because we cannot get to sources we cannot get it to go on out device If we some how got the sources then yes it would more than likely be ported to our device. Would take a very very long time as all drivers would need to be written for our device and i cant see any dev putting that much time and effort in on a project like that
KernelDev101 is right. The hardware could run it, in the same way that any PC can run Windows or Linux (or even MacOS!), but porting Windows 8 to the phone is another story. The opposite would be easier, I mean, porting Android to a Windows8 phone and it has been done before. Somebody even tried to port Android to an old Dell PDA and it worked, but the old hardware couldn't do very much of use due to the requirements of a much younger software.
The main problem of porting Windows8 to any Android (or whatever) phone is pretty much the same as porting IOS: The source code is not available to public so you would need to do a lot of reverse engineering and trial and error and you probably would end with a version of it that supports only partially your hardware. Not because it is impossible to support it in full but because it would require a considerable effort to achieve a full working port.
Damn y'all smart Lol

it's already been done on several phones, the normal desire, the desire hd, nexus one...
So maybe it's also possible on the desire S?
I saw in a video a guy with his DHD, make the boot.img from meego launch over adb in bootloader...

I don't like MeeGo, it's on one phone, and no news on future handsets. BUT, the only way this can be done is through a DHD port or an HD2 port.
Jup. Thats true, i got meego and ubuntu running on my friend his DHD. But when i tried it at my DS, i got stuck at the white htc screen. I'll run it again tomorrow or wednesday, with a logcat.

I don't think they support other architectures then Intel yet. But if they do this would be a nice project
Found this interesting wiki...

EDIT:
Even a porting guide is available :')

What do you want it ported ? Only asking, not trying to be rude, i would love to help. What does it offer above android or other operating systems ?

Well, i think there are several reasons.
1. To show what the Desire S is capable of, against other 'big' phones like the Desire, DHD, HD2 and nexus
2. There are now many many roms you can use for Android, it starts to bore a little, Meego is a exciting new challenge
3. Meego isnt that big yet, and has a lot of oppertunitys.
4. And so on...

Simple answer, no

Having done from a windows mobile world I hope it doesn't
Swyped from HTC Desire S using XDA Premium
Might as well install Mango on it.
having (dual-booting) MANGO on a desire s would be great but,
a) Not many people here are interested
b) Even if people are interested, no one is skilled enough to do it
c) It's not completely legal to port microsoft stuff. It's not open source like android.
don't think it can be done, and comming from a windows phone I don't hope it can
maybe getting HTC Surround these days just because of its hardware
[its gonna be my new useless media phone i guess ]
anw.. please don't let any1 to port windows on our beautiful device..

Even if someone did port, who cares? It's not like there's any demand for it.
On the flipside, I wouldn't mind vice-versa as I have alway found the Windows HTC models looked better than the Android ones imo.
Installing windows mobile on a perfectly good DS should be a punishable offence.
i have used my friend's windows phone 7 device(before i started using custom roms) for 5-10mins(i know that its very brief) & i seemed to like it a quite a bit, mostly because it seemed faster (when i was on stock ROM)
is there something im missing?or is it just that the brief time i spent fiddling with the phone not enough to tell me enough about the device?
(im just curious )

I tried it too at the phone store. I will agree its quite good. Fast and responsive. But it doesn't quite still well with me like the way Android does.

I'd like to ask that
will Windows phone probably running on HTC Sensation?
Since WP7 is so smooth and fast,
I'm really get interested in it though
This is a new, refreshing and interesting question that no one has ever asked.

Hi,
WP7 will not run on a Sensation.
Curious to the reason as to why? Is this "impossible"?
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using XDA App
It is illegal
Android is open source, Windows isn't and needs a license

Hi,
WM is not open source.
Nevermind that then... Always worth a question... Grants knowledge
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using XDA App
windows 7 or 8
The illegality isn't question on this site - or does it? You can find lot of devices which has windows ROM different than the original version. These devices has licence only the original version of windows, so I think that is same illegal.
Well, the question is: has any physical limitation (drivers, hardware) of this development? Anybody start to work on this curious job?
I wish there is a working webOS in my sensation. Anyone with me?
I don't see why someone would do that since ICS is coming
Yeah, but we'd like the freedom to choose
I thought the same thing when I heard Web OS was going open source. I guess it could be posible sicne its linux based and no licensing issues, correct me if I'm wrong. The only thing stoping it is the lack of developers that have a Sensation and would want to spend the time porting it. Not likely in my honest opinion.

I'm sure we'll see it pop up for Android phones eventually.
I'd like to see a merging of the two. There's some things that WebOS does better than Android, and vice versa. I think a "WebDroid" project would be nifty.
Its all dependant on how much they choose to "open". If its just the kernel it won't help much.

Since they announced it as Open source I assume it will be everything that's necessary for OEM's to develop this OS on their respective devices.

I don't see a place for an open source WebOS. There's already a linux based open source mobile smartphone OS thats being used by most of the market; Android. It wouldn't make sense to suddenly drop Android for WebOS, or even to just sell them side by side, there's just no need.
I don't see a port happening, possible, but doubtful that anyone will have the time to do it.

WebOS rivals iOS in sheer polish and usability IMO, if it wasn't for the poor hardware and devices that Palm made, I'm sure it would have done a lot better. It would be nice to have dual boot ICS and WebOS on the Sensation
I would like to see webOS run on sensation . if possible we can do it with dual boot between webOS and android that will be super awesome!

And when ICS comes out, which one are you going to boot into the most on?
Droid life and the verge published an article stating that the evo 3d already has a booting web os 3.0, and has for months. Although it is hacked together and still unfinished this suggests that the sensation could get it, given the devices similarities, with some dev willing to do it.

Why did you revive this year old thread you 2?
Win phone 8 on Sensation? What happened.
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using XDA Premium App
Were have you found this? Sensation is an android phone running on a linux kernel. Two different operating systems. Only thing I can think of is like the good old HD2 days with the amazing bootloader that allowed you to run windows, windows 7 or android!
More information please
The HD2 was so boss. Why doesn't HTC release another phone like that?
Well, HD2 runs WP as stock so that device is licensed to use whatever version of WP as long as it can handle it. Android is open source so there's no issue running it on a Windows phone. Sensation is an Android phone so there will be a legality issue if you install WP OS on our device. It's not licensed to use Windows so it's a NO NO for us. You might end up chasing by Microsoft if you do this and XDA will be at risk because of it. This topic is so sensitive that a mod might close this thread in no time.

Why not ... it was just a question. The "WeTap" was also released with "a linux version" ... now Android and Windows 8 is running on it.
Okok ... the CPU / architecture, i know ... but IMHO the question is not "stupid" as some peole dont know how mobile phones work and how they are build.
