I'd like to ask that
will Windows phone probably running on HTC Sensation?
Since WP7 is so smooth and fast,
I'm really get interested in it though
This is a new, refreshing and interesting question that no one has ever asked.

Hi,
WP7 will not run on a Sensation.
Curious to the reason as to why? Is this "impossible"?
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using XDA App
It is illegal
Android is open source, Windows isn't and needs a license

Hi,
WM is not open source.
Nevermind that then... Always worth a question... Grants knowledge

windows 7 or 8
The illegality isn't question on this site - or does it? You can find lot of devices which has windows ROM different than the original version. These devices has licence only the original version of windows, so I think that is same illegal.
Well, the question is: has any physical limitation (drivers, hardware) of this development? Anybody start to work on this curious job?

Would be super cool if people would support this phone like the HD2 (being able to run android and WM6.5/7). Just throwing it out there... Would have bought a HD7 but waiting for the software to do a little catch up. Thinking when mango is released it will be that point where it had matured and everyone would be content using it day to day.

That would be cool.
I like WM 2003 SE.
i would be interested in a dual boot if possible for sure
Would be cool, but probably won't happen because of the massive undertaking that would have to happen. Wp7 doesn't even have drivers for dual core phones..the drivers is what would make the whole thing a headache

No and No.
If you want a wm phone why buy an android? I don't get it..

When bootloader unlock comes I just want a GB Vanilla Rom or a Faster Sense Rom. I'm not a fan of WM7. Had the Focus and it sucked. I don't think ill ever leave android.

Should have got an HD7...not a bad phone for what it is.

Launcher 7 and android is a match made. There's plenty of apps that mimic wp7 looks.
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using XDA Premium App
I would totally be up for that! I really like both operating systems. If the browser were just better, or there were alternative browsers that were worthwhile on WP7, I might still be using the HD7. Right up until I ended up with a Sensation.

Mango does support dual-core. the lastest spec sheet for upcoming wp7 devices says so. so the driver headache is not there...
Windows is disgustingly terrible . Why ruin an Android device with such blasphemy ?

I wouldn't go that far...
And unless they are using this exact chipset, yes drivers are still a problem, dual core optimized or not

I wouldn't mind dual-booting both. WP7 is a great mobile OS.
I don't mind to try wp7. See what's the differences.

Simple answer, no
Sent from my HTC Pyramid using XDA App
Having done from a windows mobile world I hope it doesn't
Swyped from HTC Desire S using XDA Premium
Might as well install Mango on it.
having (dual-booting) MANGO on a desire s would be great but,
a) Not many people here are interested
b) Even if people are interested, no one is skilled enough to do it
c) It's not completely legal to port microsoft stuff. It's not open source like android.
don't think it can be done, and comming from a windows phone I don't hope it can
maybe getting HTC Surround these days just because of its hardware
[its gonna be my new useless media phone i guess ]
anw.. please don't let any1 to port windows on our beautiful device..

Even if someone did port, who cares? It's not like there's any demand for it.
On the flipside, I wouldn't mind vice-versa as I have alway found the Windows HTC models looked better than the Android ones imo.
Installing windows mobile on a perfectly good DS should be a punishable offence.
i have used my friend's windows phone 7 device(before i started using custom roms) for 5-10mins(i know that its very brief) & i seemed to like it a quite a bit, mostly because it seemed faster (when i was on stock ROM)
is there something im missing?or is it just that the brief time i spent fiddling with the phone not enough to tell me enough about the device?
(im just curious )

I tried it too at the phone store. I will agree its quite good. Fast and responsive. But it doesn't quite still well with me like the way Android does.

Hi everybody i am wondering if it is possible to install windows mobile 7 or 8 on the htc sensation. Or is there just to much diff between the operating systems?
I guess you haven't used the search button much.....
No you can't install windows 7,5 mango on your HTC sensation, as it ins't a public source, but you can install the launcher called "launcher 7" which makes your Sensation look like windows phone.
Short answer: No.
Longer answer: You can't because it's closed source, has completely different drivers,...

the only reason why it worked on the hd2 was because the hardware was very simillar to the hd7. therefore the drivers neede to run on the hd2 were already written. as for our sensation there is no drivers at all written to make windows mobile 7 to work. unless drivers are written or another phone poops up with the same exact specification as our sensation than it will work.
it takes to much time to write the drivers for it to work and i dont think any of the devs will take their time to do it. just my 2cents

dont even respond to questions when you have no idea what you are talking about,... it wastes peoples time
Actually, i'd love to see that happen.
WP is something to look out for for anyone who is seeking integration of things. SkyDrive, hotmail, windows. Google services are still too independat from each other. Tell me, who needs messenger(huddle) on android if gtalk can be for it? There is too much segretation withing google itself, i do have a feeling that microsoft might do it quite a lot better.
I use launcher 7 and I like it a lot. It won't give you the full experience but it will fool people at a glance.

lol the hd2 is a WM phone..maybe he is talking about android which is a different story..
I really don't want to se Wp7/8 on the sensation.
With all the problems with MS Windows, i can't imagine how ****ed up the mobile OS will be.
Its nice to have the chance of trying more than one OS in a mobile, thats why a lot love Htc HD2

+1. I also have a HD7 with me, bought a Sensation cause i needed android function, but still i still like the wp os, it's butter smooth, never stalls and just perfect thing as a phone (unless you are a dev.)
I don't know what you guys are talking about but Windows Phone 7 runs fine on my sensation, i dont recommend running mango though because it is a little choppy.

And perhaps they didn't?
I guess everyone doesn't know that Windows is closed sourced and it's illegal to port it to other phones that weren't orig winmo related....Only phones like HD2 can use WP7, a Android phone can't legally run WP7....So this question of Windows on the sensation can be put to rest forever.

Quoting me for your post made absolutely no sense so I don't know what you're trying to say. What I'm saying is people that believe windows phone 7 is on the sensation are gullible.

Were have you found this? Sensation is an android phone running on a linux kernel. Two different operating systems. Only thing I can think of is like the good old HD2 days with the amazing bootloader that allowed you to run windows, windows 7 or android!
More information please
The HD2 was so boss. Why doesn't HTC release another phone like that?
Well, HD2 runs WP as stock so that device is licensed to use whatever version of WP as long as it can handle it. Android is open source so there's no issue running it on a Windows phone. Sensation is an Android phone so there will be a legality issue if you install WP OS on our device. It's not licensed to use Windows so it's a NO NO for us. You might end up chasing by Microsoft if you do this and XDA will be at risk because of it. This topic is so sensitive that a mod might close this thread in no time.

Why not ... it was just a question. The "WeTap" was also released with "a linux version" ... now Android and Windows 8 is running on it.
Okok ... the CPU / architecture, i know ... but IMHO the question is not "stupid" as some peole dont know how mobile phones work and how they are build.

Well nothing impossible but No you wont be able to and likely never will. As others have said is closed source BUT it IS possible to run on our device but because we cannot get to sources we cannot get it to go on out device If we some how got the sources then yes it would more than likely be ported to our device. Would take a very very long time as all drivers would need to be written for our device and i cant see any dev putting that much time and effort in on a project like that
KernelDev101 is right. The hardware could run it, in the same way that any PC can run Windows or Linux (or even MacOS!), but porting Windows 8 to the phone is another story. The opposite would be easier, I mean, porting Android to a Windows8 phone and it has been done before. Somebody even tried to port Android to an old Dell PDA and it worked, but the old hardware couldn't do very much of use due to the requirements of a much younger software.
The main problem of porting Windows8 to any Android (or whatever) phone is pretty much the same as porting IOS: The source code is not available to public so you would need to do a lot of reverse engineering and trial and error and you probably would end with a version of it that supports only partially your hardware. Not because it is impossible to support it in full but because it would require a considerable effort to achieve a full working port.
Damn y'all smart Lol
