[Q] Charging Issues - Eee Pad Transformer Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

This tablet is driving me nuts. Charging port must have a short or something but it looks fine. No bent pins or anything. My problem is sometimes I can plug it into the wall charger and it charges fine. Other times it will not charge for anything. Even using different chargers and cables and still nothing. Then next day it will charge no problem. Crazy. What is weird is that every single time the tablet was put on the dock it would charge no problem each and every time.
Anyone have any ideas because currently I have to play this game every day when it needs charged.

Does the dock charge every single time you use a cable and charger ?
If it was a problem with the tablet side port you would think the issue would remain trying to charge by docking it too
Tried a different ROM to rule that out ?

The dock did charge every time without issue. Haven't tried a different rom yet and can't right now till I get a charge on it. If I can will get another rom flashed on it to test.
I say "did" because the dock has since went belly up and had to be retired. So I have no alternative way to try and charge the tablet now. Was using the dock to charge the tablet every time because of the trouble charging it directly.

Not sure if they are swappable, but if you still have the dead dock, you might be able to salvage the charger port from it if it still works and fit it into the tablet, in case it is some weird connection issue tablet side

That is not an option because some of the pins got pushed back and broken off so the connector is trash now.
Also, the tablet will not charge when off right now either so don't think it is the rom causing it.
Sent from my tricked out S4.

Ah damn, heavy handed kids ?
You think the same thing that happened to the dock port has happened to the tablet ?
I can only think to try find a cheap dead one on ebay or someone willing the break one up for parts
I bought new speakers for mine from this site but it doesn't seem to have much in stock atm, maybe email them and ask if they have a spare port

Nope...wife got a hold of it. Looking at the charging port of the tablet real close and it looks fine. Don't see anything that would cause problems. Thanks for the link. I'll figure something out for it I'm sure.

I guess that the other pins are for audio and other stuff
Try it!
Any Standard Mini USB works
Thanks for sharing but I think we all knew that one already.
And we should call you Amerigo Vespucci, but I`d be happier if I could name you Google or Search sorry
i hardly ever use the HTC cable with any of my HTC phones... to start with , my HTC USB cable is in the mains charger!
Give the guy a break. I remember when I first tried my charger and USB cable that I had with a previous HTC phone and found out it worked. I plugged it in to my Diamond VERY gingerly and winced, hoping not to fry my phone. Hallalujah! I remembered saying to myself. Now I don't have to buy another charger or cable!
I just had that HALLELUJAH moment myself! Thanks

I'm nominating you for funniest avatar awards! At least we'll all be able to take you seriously.
But in regards to your comment, yeah as long as the voltage is the same you're generally pretty safe. The ampage rating don't tend to mean that much as the device will only draw what it needs (in the case that your charger is rated at 1000mAH but your device draws less than that). In the case your charger can't provide enough ampage then I believe the charging process simply takes longer that it would with the 'correct' charger.
If the voltage is different then you can cause serious damage to your device and who knows you could theoretically start a fire.
Rejoice! I've been *****ing all morning about me forgetting the cable at work, and now for the weekend it's low on power. I've been browsing sites trying to figure out what cable i needed to order and i came up short - except for ordering an original which wasn't in stock.
Consider this a 'thanks' and a bump

Car 12v-usb and cable bought on ebay wont charge.

Hello, ive bought these on ebay:
http://cgi.ebay.com/USB-CAR-CHARGER.../180497049900?pt=Other_MP3_Player_Accessories
http://cgi.ebay.com/Micro-USB-Data-...ARE-BB-Storm-/170525850383?pt=PDA_Accessories
Trying to use them to charge my phone in my car, but no go. When i connect the cable it asks me if i want to connect to kies, mass storage etc. I just press the back button, and phones tells me its charging, when in fact, its not, battery is actualy draining, and it gives me some weird msg about sd card. (In norwegian)
Any way to resolve this, or do i have to buy an original samsung charger?
did you try the USB cable on your computer?
does it charge when you plug it into the computer using the USB cable you got off ebay?
possibly the car charger is bad, if the USB cable works on your computer
I havent yet, i will do so and report back
The cable does not charge in the pc, and i can not mount my sd card on my pc with the cable, so, i guess its the cable then
Maybe this will do the trick: http://cgi.ebay.com/USB-Sync-Charge...895319?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item20b30c83d7
They say its for samsung i9000
Also! have you made sure the charger supplys the right amps, if you get one even with the right voltage if not the right amps you will still get battery drain! I had this issue when the gf's blackberry charger got swapped with my hero charger by accident, took me ages to realise why the battery was still draining when using co pilot on long car journeys!!
get this one instead
2000 mAh (2A) charger

i'm using it, super good

Get the HTC C200 charger.
I paid a lot for this phone so paying 15 euros dollars for a car charger makes sense
paying more for something that comes from the same manufacturing center (China) will not make it any better.
Thanks for all the good tips. Ill check those out

I've used cheap ass car chargers and all they do is get hot and aren't very efficient. Have a HTC mini usb charger and it stays cool while charging, which means it isn't wasting any power...so to me...its worth paying extra

[Q] No Usb cables give enough power to charge the sensation! :@

what is wrong!?!?
The original broke so i tried others from amazon uk and none of them seem to give enough power! im charging with the wall adapter thing not through a usb port.

Something else is wrong here.
A USB cord is just a cord. Aside from it being cut in half there's like literally nothing that can be wrong. It's just copper wire allowing electrons to move freely through it.
If it wasn't transmitting data, then sure. It can be the cord as low quality cords can disrupt digital data flow. But when then I use $1 cords from Monoprice.com and they work just peachy.
But multiple cords not charging? It's just a wire. All it does it carry electricity from the charger to the phone. There is nothing special about the official HTC cord.
Are you sure the charger works okay? Will it charge another device? Are you sure the phone is okay? It could be the battery as well.
Phone chargers are fairly universal, as most smartphones have a USB charger that outputs 1amp. So see if you can find another one from a friend or co-worker and test to see if your phone charges faster with another charger.

Use the standard HTC thing that connects into the sockets, then I recommend using a Samsung USB cable.
I had the same issue and found out my wire was broken :/.
Thanks!
Hope I Helped

Car charger that wont drain w/ GPS use?

New One S owner here. I'm finding that when using my One S in the car running Google Navigation (GPS), the battery is draining even when plugged into my car charger. I specifically purchased a name-brand, 950ma charger to try to avoid this problem (using this charger from Motorola), but it still seems to slowly drain if I use navigation, have the display on, etc.
Does this happen to anyone else?
Any recommendations for chargers that WILL work?
You'd really want a 2 Amp charger for that I think, 950mA is only just enough to charge the phone when it's not in use.
Latest update: I purchased this Powergen charger, which is supposed to be able to deliver up to 3.1 amps.
Tried it last night in my card running Google Navigation, and the batter STILL drained; slowly, about 3% over 45 minutes, but it was indeed draining. Wasn't running anything else except Google Nav; screen was on (obviously) and I did have bluetooth enabled and paired with my car's system, but I wasn't using the phone for calls.
Guess I'll repeat my request:

Yep, I have the same problem, although for me it's draining like 10% / half an hour. This is pretty annoying. My device also gets very hot (very hot = 50°C +)
I have a brand charger from Hama, so I really don't know where the problem is.
Same problem here too. Charging isn't possible (-10% per hour) and it also gets really, really hot. Don't know if I should charge my phone any longer because of the heat... Has anyone got a solution yet?

This might be a flaw of the phone. Happens to me too.
So you think it's okay charging the phone?
I have found the same thing. All my DC chargers will not charge, only maintain a slow drain, with GPS running.
However I have a monoprice external battery pack model 9531, that does charge even with GPS and bluetooth enabled. I have also noticed that using this in other circumstances it charges the phone faster than any of my AC chargers as well regardless of the state of the phone.
I could not like the monoprice page for it but I believe they still make it. Here is a picture. Hope this helps.

Has anyone tried GPS with Bubba or some of the other kernels that have fast charging? Maybe those would do the trick?
Most Car chargers are internally wired for Apple products ( data ports have current on them tot tell the Apple product what the charger capacity is ). Android phone do not recognize this, so they fall back to USB charging (500ma).
Look at the phone battery settings when charging. Doesvit say USB or AC ?

Fast charging not working (not cable or charger)

My gf's S6 doesn't fast charge anymore. I have a S6 too and tried cables, chargers and different outlets so for sure that's not the problem. I've made sure the plug is all the way in so it's not that. I'm going to contact Samsung because we're still under the year mark but there is a small possibility some water may have gotten in the charging port. With 3 kids it's tough keeping your toys away from them all the time. Anyone hear of any issues with the fast charge not working? Most of the threads I could find about this issue is resolved with a new charger or just plugging it all the way.

Good evening everybody,
Appologies for attaching to this post but my question is about fast charging in G920F I own, too. When I use stock AC quick charger and stock Samsung cable, my phone charges quickly (not a surprise). But when I use stock quick charger and other microUSB cable (e.g. the one I got with the Chromecast 2), S6 charges in normal "slow" mode. Does this functionality depend on the cable?
Thanks in advance for a reply & best regards.

It depends on 3 things. The phone, the charger and the connection (th e cable). So yes, the cable is a crucial factor in utilising Fast Charge
Think of it as having a fast car, a driver comfortable with pushing the car to the limits, and the road being the cable. If the road isn't build for the speed (let's liken it to a country ally/road) you can't safely drive at top speed. So you drive at the safest speed you can with the road you have. That's what the phone and charger do. Rather than blowing the cable (which could happen), it just draws a smaller amount of power to keep everything safe.
Sorry for the big reply. I like to be as informative as possible in one go
Well I tried Samsung wireless quick charger and still no luck. Guess I'll have to send it to Samsung.
Not on Android 6, still on 5. Thanks though

I had the same thing happened to my S6 two weeks ago. It charged only slow way, even with a fast charger, and i tried few cables and solutions. At the end i took it to warranty and they replaced that whole board with USB port. It was done in 24 hours and now it works like new. They even gave me brand new Fast charger and cable for free. Good guy Samsung .
