[q] gps/glonass - Samsung Galaxy S Relay 4G

pdadb.net states that the Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8260A is capable of GPS and GLONASS.
since android is jsut generally speaking of "satelites", the question is, is GLONASS funtionality implemented in the Relay (hardwarewise)
and, if yes, is it enabled or how to do so?
as far as i can tell, compared to the Desire Z the gps is awesome fast in obtaining a satelite lock and uses a lot more satelites. but are all of those gps satelites?

I don't think glonass is built into our hardware

Using GPS Test App https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.chartcross.gpstest&hl=en you see triangles in the field, that should be GLONASS satelites. GLONASS is included in the chipset so the import duties to Russia are much smaller. Relay was never intended for Russia but the chipset is so cheap that it's simplier just to add it the way it is and keep the same chipset accross whole product line.

samsung vs qualcomm ?

Hi, i wanted to ask which processor is faster:
The 400mhz Samsung of the Tytn or the 400mhz Qualcomm of the Tytn II ?
What are the advantages of each processor?
I heard that the samsung has a better connection to the flash, but i couldn't find much information in the web. Thx!
i would like to know that too.....
me too...
but i think the advantage (only of the chipset, not the devices with the chip!) of qualcomm are the all-in-one-chip-technology..
its all in one chip.. the gpu, fm-radio, gps, and so on....
According to Adama over at Brihthand, the Samaung chip is slightly faster than the MSM7200 and exactly the same speed as the MSM7500. Not sure where he gets his megaflop test data.

... and, currently, the lack of proper driver support....
however, I'd still go with the Qualcomm.

Overclocking and gps of Polaris

Hello, i have as well picked up my polaris just today, but i didnt buy it from the local distributors of htc ( ace hellas ) i bought an english version since i hate greek on my phones etc. Unfortunately it came as silver edition, tho i cant really complain about the looks of it.
My question now, is there any overclock utility for the qualcomm platform or shall i not mess with it ?
I installed my old destinator 6 in it, 6.1.1 edition that is, and i was wondering, is there a way to enable a-gps or is it always enabled ? ( destinator 7 sucks , well the version i had did, the ui didnt scroll map around and it was pissing me off ).
PS : I havent used it yet, i just installed the screen protector and i am atm charging it.
Any info would be much appreciated, thanks a lot.
You do not ned to enable a-GPS. Just run QuickGPS in order to get the current satellite positions for the next 6 days. Then satlock is much faster.
a-GPS wil work if the signal is present, its mostly used on internal buildings where GPS is required, obviously using standard tech you wouldnt get a signal but a-gps uses a series of special transmitters to relay the correct location, rather cleaver really but utterly usless for 90% of folk.
quick GPS is ok, but to be honest ive never had a problem locking on to sats in anything more than a couple of mins
these people are correct. a-gps is in all gps enabled devices by default as far as i know that are manufactured by htc. quickgps is just there to make the time to get a lock less. it can cut the lock time down even 50% in some cases.
best example i have is a few days ago quick gps expired on my athena and the lock took id say 6 min bc i was inside a min. i closed tomtom and opened quickgps to update and afterwords it was maybe 3 min if not less.
overclocking is not really needed. ur looking at a dual core qualcomm 7200. 1 core handles pretty much voice while the other 400 mhz core carries the gaming and other heavier things. its not needed from expirence with my hermes which was a single core 400mhz.
btw: i recommend u try tomtom. i find it the best for ME and u might too. hope this helped u.
For quick gps, put this file on windows directory

Tomtom unfortunately doesnt support greece so far, only athens ( capital ) and i dont live at it so destinator is the best choice for me atm.

I cant say i am in the wrong forum tbh, i didnt came here to ask for gps programms, only some specific questions.
Thank you for your link though, i knew the skin was wrong and it wasnt working correctly but i guess i was too lazy to fix it.

I strongly disagree with no need for overclocking.
A tool for overclocking is very needed, for running some emulators (for example the PS1 Emulator). I think you need at least 500 (maybe 600) Mhz to get smooth fps.

Working on Android

Ok so i signed up on google and posted a forum asking if anyone knew how i could install android on the tilt and they said "Do you have any notion as to how to re-flash an AT&T Tilt...? Without knowing that--and I'm pretty certain neither AT&T nor HTC are likely to share that information--you're not going to be able to do it.". Altho i don't know how i'm pretty sure someone around here does. I started a thread a while ago but it got closed for some reason.
There are many threads on how to flash a ROM onto your Tilt. Please see the stickied thread at the top of the thread list as your guide to the wiki. (Or, click on the link in my sig) and use the search function before posting.
While it's great that you're working on Android and we'd all be very happy to see your results, please understand that it is proper forum etiquette to only create a new thread for topics that do not exist or that contribute to the community in some way.
If you want to keep this thread and make it useful, I'd suggest continuing to share your Android progress, so that others can reply and share their findings as well.
Hope this helps!
*edit* You may also want to use search next time before posting, as I've found this pre-existing thread that other folks have already begun with more info...

Well, I see no problem in installing Android. The main problem is building a Android version which runs on the Kaiser hw.

CSD, GPRS, EDGE, UMTS, HSDPA, HSUPA data support
Built-in QWERTY-type keyboard, 65 keys
SDIO, microSD, TransFlash expansion slots
USB 2.0 client, 60Mbit/s , USB Series Mini-B (mini-USB) connector
Bluetooth 2.0

Oh by the way - if you saw the new Android alpha video you will see them taking full advantage of the qualcomm 7200 chip and playing quake III at 30FPS full screen. Prooving once again HTC/MS are dicking us around with this drivers stuff

[Q] sgh-i727 and shv-e120l

are they both same device?
No the display is 4.7 inch 1280x720p
and someone ask me post my q regarding shv-e120l in this section.... durhz...
Brothers from another mobile mother, or just a case of copycat syndrome? We'll let you be the judge, but from the looks of this latest leak, Samsung's SHV-E120L could be sharing some of the LG LU6200's special spec sauce. Outed over on Cetizen and iNews24, the full breakdown of the device's innards point to a dual-core 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, 4.7-inch 1280 x 720 HD display, 2 megapixel front-facing / 8 megapixel rear camera, 1GB RAM, 16GB of onboard storage, WiFi, Bluetooth and NFC. We've seen conflicting reports as to the exact version of Gingerbread that'll ship on the phone, with Android 2.3.5 in the running. As for the handset's radios, its purported MDM9600 Gobi chipset indicates tri-mode LTE, HSPA and CDMA compatibility. Sammy's super-sized smartphone could hit South Korea later this month, or in early October --if the passable English in that Google translation can be believed.
Has anyone managed to answer this question? I'm having trouble finding a hardware breakdown for both devices. I have heard that the E120L uses a different GPU, but can't confirm. Would be good to know as I'm sure there will be a CyanogenMod release for the Skyrocket but probably unlikely for the E120L as it is a Korea-specific model...
The Samsung SHV-E120L is supposed to be the Asian market equivalent of the Skyrocket HD.
Here are the spec for the E120S... couldn't find the E120L

Insecure Kernel for FD07?
I have a Samsung Galaxy S2 HD SHV-E120L.
Does anyone know where to find the Insecure Kernel for FD07?
I need it but am unable to find it in order to root my phone.

[Q] utilising the Qualcomm’s QDSP6V5 low-power DSP core

Few months back, I saw a video on youtube, in which the developer Guillaume Lesniak tapped Qualcomm’s QDSP6V5 low-power DSP core to enable touchless control, which Qualcomm boasts as snapdragon voice activation but denies to provide the api. Is there any way to activate this functionality, especially tap to wake up without comprising battery life. I wonder why Qualcomm is repudiating from releasing the api. I could not get any specific details on internet. I thought android lollipop has this functionality on supported devices. Does nexus 5 having snapdragon 800 does not qualify for this? Any info would be highly appreciated.

Who was that guy? You know, once it's online, it never goes offline.
BTW
That functionality is present in Qualcomm fluence pro suite. OEMs need to pay for it. AFAIK.
