Working on Android - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III Windows Mobile ROM De

Ok so i signed up on google and posted a forum asking if anyone knew how i could install android on the tilt and they said "Do you have any notion as to how to re-flash an AT&T Tilt...? Without knowing that--and I'm pretty certain neither AT&T nor HTC are likely to share that information--you're not going to be able to do it.". Altho i don't know how i'm pretty sure someone around here does. I started a thread a while ago but it got closed for some reason.

There are many threads on how to flash a ROM onto your Tilt. Please see the stickied thread at the top of the thread list as your guide to the wiki. (Or, click on the link in my sig) and use the search function before posting.
While it's great that you're working on Android and we'd all be very happy to see your results, please understand that it is proper forum etiquette to only create a new thread for topics that do not exist or that contribute to the community in some way.
If you want to keep this thread and make it useful, I'd suggest continuing to share your Android progress, so that others can reply and share their findings as well.
Hope this helps!
*edit* You may also want to use search next time before posting, as I've found this pre-existing thread that other folks have already begun with more info...

Well, I see no problem in installing Android. The main problem is building a Android version which runs on the Kaiser hw.

Actually Jocky, from what I've seen most of the models being "Designed" for Android closely resemble the Hardware in the Kaiser. From HTC's android prototype:
32 bit Qualcomm MSM7200 Chipset, 384 MHZ CPU Clock
256 MB ROM
128 RAM
800 x 480 px TFT 262 color touchscreen
GSM850, GSM900, GSM1800, GSM1900, UMTS850, UMTS1900, UMTS2100 connectivity
CSD, GPRS, EDGE, UMTS, HSDPA, HSUPA data support
Built-in QWERTY-type keyboard, 65 keys
SDIO, microSD, TransFlash expansion slots
USB 2.0 client, 60Mbit/s , USB Series Mini-B (mini-USB) connector
Bluetooth 2.0
802.11b, 802.11g
NMEA 0183 , 20 channels built-in GPS
3.1 Mpx camera with LED flash

ELFin or Polaris

Hey,
Im gonna buy a new PDA.
And im in doubt between the ELFin and Polaris.
The Polaris has a GPS onboard, and 256 mem... Other specs looks the same. But is it better as a ELFin?
Are there any negative things about one of them?
Thanks,
HP197
P.s. A read that the Polaris has a 400Mhz proc onboard. But is it a real 400Mhz proc? Or a shared Proc like the Artemis? That one had a 400Mhz proc, but WM had only 200Mhz for usage, the other 200Mhz was used for GPS signals etc etc...
elfin? http://www.cvcoffee.com/prod_images_blowup/Elfin-Blow-Up1.jpg
?
do you mean elf?
if so then they are way different elf is one of the weakest pda's htc have
and polaris is pretty ok
here you can compare

No, i mean the ELFin...
Its the updated version of a ELF, with 400mhz proc, and 128mb mem.
P.s. If i looks to the wiki, i think the official name is Vogue. But some of this forum members call it ELFin

Polaris: http://pdadb.net/index.php?m=specs&id=801&view=1
ahhh got it
welll Vogue dont have gps as you mention and nor does it have umts or hsdpa
== as slow internet
and it's cam dont have autofocus (not sure how much this mean as i've yet to se a photo taken with any phone which was worth printing to papir or setting as wallpapir on a pc)
also as you mention 400Mhz is not really an universaly good way of measuring speed of the device
only a benchmark will show a good picture of how much difference there is between a
Qualcomm 400Mhz of polaris and
OMAP 400MHz of vogue

Euhhmmm, touch dual (Vogue) does have HSPDA... Only the elf doesnt, but that is the older model. The Vogue is the follow up of the ELF.
But anyway..
Thanks for the info.
Still not sure wich one im gonna take
Edit The Vogue is also missing WIFI. So, it misses 128mb, GPS and WIFI.
Thats a big miss, my vote goes to the Polaris...
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Vogue
of cause the wiki of this site is hardly failable but it say that it's
edge and gsm only
also before i checked that wiki i believed the vogue to be only cdma (the american cellphone network which is not gsm)
maybe the vogue forum could bring light to what network it really use
but if it lack wifi which is also strange since elf's wiki say it have that

About the hsdpa on the vogue: Vogue page on a other site, translated to english with google translate (orig: dutch)
About the touch dual with / without wifi: Same site, also translated with google
Look at the end of the page, where all the specs are.
This is one of the more respected online shops for PDA's in the Netherlands. So i suppose there information is right. And i dont think they disabled wifi for our country only. Because the usage of wifi is totaly legal here (some countries does not allow it).
Howwww...
Now i see... Im talking about the vogue...
But the vogue isnt the same as the HTC touch dual (Vogue = P3050, Touch Dual = P5500)
That would explain some mis understandings...
So im comparing between the P3650 (aka Polaris) and the P5500 (Touch Dual... Build name?¿?).
Wich in my eye, the P3650 is the better one.
EDIT:
P5500 Aka Touch Dual == HTC Niki
http://pdadb.net/index.php?m=specs&id=736
Its clear for me...
I Go for the Polaris...
Just because its the one with the most features.

[TO-DO]Found Some Intresting stuff on HTC Site

Hello!!
This thread Is For Future Development so Mods plz Don't alter this thread at least pm me before...
while Browsing the HTC site, i opened up sites of 3 different zones i mean:
Code:
[B]HTC MAGIC INDIA[/B]
http://www.htc.com/in/product/magic/specification.html
[B]HTC MAGIC EUROPE[/B]
http://www.htc.com/europe/product/magic/specification.html
[B]HTC HERO WORLDWIDE[/B]
http://www.htc.com/www/product/hero/specification.html
& just compared the HTC Magic from India, Europe & HTC Hero from worldwide site...
Some Differences Found:
HTC Magic from India has:
Code:
1. Processor ----------Qualcomm® [B]MSM7200A™[/B], 528 MHz
2. Memory: ------------ROM: 512 MB [B]RAM: 288 MB[/B]
3. Has(+) --------------[B]HTC Sync™[/B]
4. Has(+) --------------[B]Microsoft® Exchange Server synchronization[/B]
While HTC Magic From Europe had the following difference:
Code:
1. Processor ----------Qualcomm® [B]MSM7201a™[/B], 528 MHz
2. Memory: ------------ROM: 512 MB [B]RAM: 192 MB[/B]
3. Lacks(-) -------------[B]HTC Sync™[/B]
4. Lacks(-) -------------[B]Microsoft® Exchange Server synchronization[/B]
And the HTC Hero Has +points on both of the above are:
Code:
1. Connectivity --------------------3.5 mm audio jack
2. Camera -------------------------5.0 megapixel color camera with auto focus
3. Audio supported formats ----Windows Media® Audio 9
4. Video supported formats ----Windows Media® Video 9
Now the main reason for this Thread,
Seeing the Differences,
The Europe Magic May be lacking the Extra RAM Due to some Processor Changes, Bootloader & Boot image Which allots less space for RAM & more for Internal Space...
So I think It Can Gain That Extra RAM by making changes to the above stuffs... More over HTC Sync™ & Microsoft® Exchange Server synchronization can be added to future ROM's...
Then Leaving The Indian Magic, because It has Most of Them... We Skip to Compare HERO to these Phones & even add G1/DREAM/ADP1..
The 5 MP Camera & 3.5 mm audio jack Cannot Be added, as its an Hardware Spec, But We can add those Missing Codecs Windows Media® Audio 9 & Windows Media® Video 9 to HTC MAGIC & HTC G1/DREAM/ADP1
For that we need the Original HERO Gallery, Some Frameworks & Libraries which may be missing in current HERO ROM(Provided By Haykuro)...
So This post is for Future to-do to the Developers at XDA-Developers Android Section... Stuffs to Be done as soon as The Proper Hero ROM is available.
SANGEET
Based on my research, MSM2700A chip only goes up to 400MHz. 2701A is the one that has 528MHz and is used in all HTC's android phones.
As to the memory problem, I think the 288MB RAM is just the same storey as the 192MB claimed for G1. The MSM2700 series chips are asymmetric, which means, external memory has to be split in two in hardware. In G1, only half of the 192M RAM is avaiable to the application processor, while the rest is dedicated to radio and probably video. So I think for Hero, 288MB is the total memory and we have 192M available to the OS (96M for the armv6 chip as in G1).
Also, the MSM2700 series comes with Windows Media and RealNetworks format support, but I guess some of the drivers and codecs cannot be included in an open-source project. Now the HTC way is much closed and commercial, so WMA and WMV support is possible.

Ya i know its closed source, But still we can port it as done with the PDFviewer & many more HTC stuffs ported from 1 phone to another...
& the Hardware stuff I dont know more about it but ll say that the MSM2700 series is also capable to be overclocked to 527.~ Mhz coz my adp1 has it & can be successfully be overclocked to 527 Mhz...
But if u r an hardware expert then dont know, may be its showing fake reading of cpu overclocked to 528 on my adp1

MSM2700A & MSM2701A are the same, the main difference is the MSM2701A is actually a Dual Core processor. (weird they didn't put it into the new US Magic) It uses 1 core for all your phone processes (making calls, etc) and it uses the other core for all your android OS processes... pretty cool huh? Both can be upto 528Mhz
Oooo I want a 2701a

yea, the G1's have it... I was going to get the Touch (HTC Magic) but if it doesn't have the 2701a then i don't want it. lol. Plus i'll miss my keyboard too much. I hate onscreen keyboards. no matter how much they make it "type correctly", it never works lol.

Stop posting stuff like that. Those processors are THE SAME. The're a patent issue involved that made them change names. And a diference in coding video (not that we care right now with our crappy cameras).

So It means The Processors same But Differently named due to some issues, wish we could get a 600 Mhz or 1 Ghz processor to get far more than that ****** iPhone...
Leave that, or the thread may get slipped to off toppic...
Just start posting here when someone provides the Release version of HERO ROM which is complete....Posting about porting/adding those codecs
As we know HTC's Gona provide ROM's to HTC Branded Androids, & G1 cant Run the full ROM @ that speed as Magic & Hero can achieve, So we can only port some of this stuff so it at-least runs @ normal speed...

UK version of Aria called Gratia running Froyo

I see lots of press releasing the Gratia in the UK with Android 2.2 (Froyo) with Sense. Since its a rebrand of the Aria, is there any info avaialability for us yet?
I want a liberated Gratia rom for my Aria !
Sent from my HTC Liberty using XDA App
damn it, Gratia may have froyo but not new sense. PLEASE tell me im wrong. PLEASE!
Yes, liberated 2.2 with sense! Currently running the latest liberated 2.1 and it rocks!!!

we'll have to wait till nov for it to come out and then well need someone to do a dump of the phone.
Aria official update to 2.2 is going to be next month, the same time the gratia will be out for sale in Europe. Expect a liberated 2.2 sense late Nov or in December.
Sent from my HTC Liberty using XDA App
Seriously? That's getting me excited but at&t will take ages to approve and stuff
Sent from my HTC Liberty using XDA App
At&t had 2.2 sense this whole time, they are the ones making us wait.
Sent from my HTC Liberty using XDA App
I wish they would be a little quicker for all the all updates
Sent from my HTC Liberty using XDA App
Seems like someone got hold of gratia 2.2 rom. It would not be too long before attn1 or someone will get hold of this and port it over to Aria.

Anyone know exactly how close the Gratia is to the Aria, other than the second cam?

I think so too. US Aria has a slightly different frequency than Euro Gratia. I had Touch HD (euro) which is capable of 3G, but could only use Edge on AT&T in US.

Wow, make a mistake and forget to post a link and you're instantly branded a troll.
Daddy want. I wonder if it will do lte
How much do you think importing would cost?
I could care less about LTE, so much Wi-Fi everywhere but LTE would be AWESOME to have.

I know right? Looks awesome.
Import from china might not add much. 25 bucks would be my guess. The trick is does it have English built in.
At first I was like "meh, Lumia 900 wannabe." Then I watched the video.... and it's pretty sweet! Wonder if it will ever hit American shores or if it will stay strictly in China?

That's the same link I posted in the OP.
It appears you can order direct from their website (once it's available), though it's not clear if there are shipping restrictions.

They're making so much money off each phone
I'm gonna wait for them to start popping up on Expansys and E-Bay. Hopefully I can get one by November.
Only problem is, you're stuck with MIUI. I love it, but flexibility would be nice.
I don't think they released the proprietary files/libs for the Mi-One, so ROM development never got started for it.
I hope it isn't the same case for this one.

The question is how will the dev community be?
It's a cool phone with great specs and all but if there is little dev support, and Xiaomi is slow with updates, it's not worth getting imo and better to wait for "big" phone companies like HTC or Samsung to out their next big device. For example, when will this phone get JB?

Oooooh. Yeah, that would be tedious to deal with. Shame, because it's such an awesome looking (aesthetically and specs-wise) that it would be sick to run an AOSP-based on it!
