Hi,
So I installed clockworkmod recovery for my (rooted) Razr XT910 using RazrTouchBlack.apk. Everything went accordingly and I did a reboot into CWM. That's where the problem began. I made a backup on SD card, not just a regular backup, and then after it backed up and rebooted I was greeted with the "encryption unsuccessful" screen.
I've been able to get the phone up and running again by booting it into AP fastboot and running the commands:
motofastboot erase cache
motofastboot erase userdata
motofastboot reboot
But the problem is now I can't shut it down/reboot, because doing that would bring me back to the "encryption unsuccessful" screen again. I suspect its not a Big problem, since I haven't lost anything in my internal sd card (most other threads I searched they were saying that if you see the "encryption unsuccessful" all the data in the sd card is gone. The phone was/is running OTA jelly bean, everything seems to work fine, only problem is I can't shut down, or I'd have to run the motofastboot commands all over again. My phone doesn't have root atm, and unlikely to get root either because the rooting process involves (you know it) rebooting.
Additional info: Could /hijack and /logwrapper in my system/bin directory have anything to do with this? I know to uninstall CWM these two files have to be deleted.
Any ideas on how to fix? Preferably not anything drastic like flashing an entire new rom. I'm still relatively new to android from a developers standpoint. Thanks a lot in advance.
I had same problem too
Hi!
I had same problem as you described, after backup and restart my phone gift error encryption unsuccessful and phone as bricked at all. I found a video on youtube to unbrick it by entering en recovery mode and flashing ROM again. I know it's not the best solution but I have again my phone up and running and no data has been lost on my SD card. Search for that video en Youtube, you will smile again! ;P

xt910 encryption loop
Please help, appreciated in advance.
I am also in an encryption unsuccessfull loop and have tried several options to get it out.
Installed RSDLite and tried to install several different roms, it comes back with failed at step 6/22 .
I managed to get into the boot menu and tried to "install upgrade from SD Card" several JB roms but they all failed at package validation errors.
it is an xt910 running on optus australia, i think it's gsm.
any help greatly appreciated, thanks
Bill

Okay. I need some help. I'm not a complete noob and have flashed a device or two in my day, but I'm struggling to solve my problem. I have a wingray. Any help or insight would be much appreciated. I succesfullly did the big part mod a few weeks ago. Everything has been good running omni rom, flashed a few updates and all worked out. Yesterday I attempeted to reboot the tablet through the power menu. On reboot, it stuck at the motorola boot screen. I got into recovery but nothing is mounted and so I cant restore or flash or wipe anything. My SD card and storage show as 0 files. I've tried manually mounting but nothing happens. Then I tried fastbooting the bigpart recovery image. It was successfull but I still cant mount any partitions. I was searching for sbf files to possibly use rsd to flash. As of yet I cant seem to find the US wingray image files. If anyone can give me any help on solving this issue or redirecting me to the proper rsd files if that might work I would appreciate it. Thanks
Problem solved. Fastbooted factory image files then clockwork recovery (tried flashing twrp but had mounting issues)
Hope this can help someone else who might run into this situation.

Hi all,
Let me shortly give you the facts:
Huawei G510-0100
Unlocked Bootloader with DC unlocker client and fastboot
Rooted and SU with Kingo root
got TWRP 2.6.3.3 on it.
So far so good. Took me a while, and looked like it works.
First I did a backup of the system and then wiped extensive.
Then I tried to flash the backup with the result that the restore failed, last message in cmd window: formatting system using make_ext4fs (wanted to post pic, but can´t as account is new).
Next try was flashing CM 10.2
It failed with the message "error flashing zip"
So now I can´t use the phone anymore.
Do you have any suggestions what may be wrong? Tried several things. Checked if fat32 is on the SD also tried to flash from internal SD. Nothing helped. Can I dump the phone or is there anything to try?
I would really appreciate some help. Thanks!
Cheers

Okay, so I have a slight problem. I was trying to install Cyanogen mod. I followed the directions, first installing the zip from TWRP, then i flashed the boot.img. After that, i tried booting it up. For some strange reason, it wouldn't boot up. it would get to a certain point, then it simply rebooted all over again. After trying a few more things, I finally decided i should reset it to the stock rom. The only problem is, i do not have S-Off, and to get S-Off, i need to boot into the normal mode. I then remembered i could probably do that from the SD card, but when i tried, ADB complained with a permissions error. Upon further investigation, I then found that I couldn't even mount the SD card. I tried using a different version of TWRP, and every other version couldn't even start up. When i tried, it rebooted before actually getting to the recovery. I decided to try CWM. That at least opened fine, but it also was unable to mount the SD card. I also tried flashing the stock rom zip files using the rebootRUU command, but that came up with an "Unknown error". At this point, i think this could all be resolved if i had S-Off, but i cannot do so. I was wondering if anyone knew how to do it with only fastboot, or if anyone had any other ideas on how to get it working.
Thanks in advance.
I didn't find a thread for the Volt, model LS740 on Virgin Mobile. Rooted by the original owner. So I'm posting it here. I'm using adb on Ubuntu.
So I'm trying to repair a broken system by reflashing the stock ROM. I suspect the previous owner(who rooted) may have removed multiple important system apps. Upon doing a factory reset it has no home launcher or keyboard. As soon as the screen turns off it loops a com.android.systemui has stopped. Every boot you need to do a factory reset to get it to work: booting once, then again will loop the systemui crash, requiring a factory reset to work.
The android recovery works, I can get to it, but it offers install update from cache, adb, or sd card. The phone will not recognize sd card while it is in recovery, and adb doesn't work in recovery, only while booted. Copying recovery image to cache fails at 71%, I suspect the phone does not have enough RAM to move 1.17 GB from A to B. The phone may also not have spare storage space. I'm working on finding an sd card so I can try copying from there.
"adb reboot bootloader" reboots the phone normally. If there's a bootloader it skips it entirely. I found threads that say uncheck fast boot in power/battery options, but I have no such check box.
Right now, I have adb, images/zips for twrp recovery and stock rom, and I can push apks for a launcher and keyboard. But I apparently can't access bootloader or install rom via recovery. I don't have an sd card to try and copy the rom to cache, which I will try as soon as I get a card.
Adb cannot run as root, I get "adbd cannot run as root on production builds. So I can't directly push the rom to /cache/backup using adb.
Any help? I tried to get it all out there so that you guys could help better. Thanks for reading all that.
Fixed it by finding an LG recovery reflash utility and reflashing a factory version.
Hi, guys.
I picked this xt1033 and it had the microusb input damaged, so i replaced it, but since then, it got stucked on motorola logo.
I guessed that the system got corrupted and then i uploaded some new system. It went through nicely, but when it rebooted got stucked again. So, i'ved unlocked it bootloader (to start from zero) and re-locked it, putting a new system from the ground and apparently it ended well, but it got stucked again on logo (and later i've founded that it didn't lock). I've begin to put TWRP to install a custom rom on it (to see if i've could pass throgh that) and founded that my files was still there (EVEN AFTER I'VE UNLOCKED THE BOOTLOADER, who would've erased everything from inside), system, images and even whatsapp files. MTP Service give-me a taste of what was inside and everything was there, nothing corrupt.
So i'ved erased it and put a new rom, TWRP said it did it and was asking for reboot, so i did.
And it got stucked again and nothing was erased.
So the thing is, it's internal storage is freezed and i can't do anything with it.
Could you guys help me? Thanks in advance.
i may be wrong here... but i dont remember unlocking bootloader erased my data.... but it was long time ago...
coming back to your problem.. have you tried using repair option in twrp?
also try wiping all partitions and do a recovery reboot to see if it works

Already done.
I could only enter TWRP by boot it on bootloader, not flashing ('cuz was impossible to write on memory and was saying that the flash was successful).
TWRP said it wipe it completely without any error, but it's was there.
And by ordering to reboot on Recovery Mode, it went back to original recovery and trying to erase from there do the same thing (said that was complete, but everything is still there).
Same problem here, this is a problem with emmc bricked
