[Q] Need help bringing Xoom back to life - Xoom Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Okay. I need some help. I'm not a complete noob and have flashed a device or two in my day, but I'm struggling to solve my problem. I have a wingray. Any help or insight would be much appreciated. I succesfullly did the big part mod a few weeks ago. Everything has been good running omni rom, flashed a few updates and all worked out. Yesterday I attempeted to reboot the tablet through the power menu. On reboot, it stuck at the motorola boot screen. I got into recovery but nothing is mounted and so I cant restore or flash or wipe anything. My SD card and storage show as 0 files. I've tried manually mounting but nothing happens. Then I tried fastbooting the bigpart recovery image. It was successfull but I still cant mount any partitions. I was searching for sbf files to possibly use rsd to flash. As of yet I cant seem to find the US wingray image files. If anyone can give me any help on solving this issue or redirecting me to the proper rsd files if that might work I would appreciate it. Thanks

Problem solved. Fastbooted factory image files then clockwork recovery (tried flashing twrp but had mounting issues)
Hope this can help someone else who might run into this situation.

[Q] Error installing anything from recovery

Hello,
I am trying to install custom rom and I cannot get anything to flash. I have had the phone rooted and romed before was trying to change roms so i wipped everything and cleared all caches and tried to flash and it came across an error. Tried to fix errors and ended up soft bricking it, fixed the soft brick but now I am back to step 1.
The error i am getting is:
Opening .zip file
Cannot open .zip
aborting
I was using CWM, thought that was the problem so I switched to twmp and still get the same thing. It will not install any zips. I have downloaded tons of different roms and none of them work, also i cannot install the bootloader unlocker or su now because it will not open the zip. I have tried it on external sd card and internal neither work. Any help appreciated.
I figured it out. My external sd card was somehow causing the problem. I removed all important files and formatted it from twrp and restarted and was able to flash again. Dunno how that caused the problem but that was my fix to this solution for anyone else that comes across this problem in the future. Really was a frustrating two days.

[Q] XT910 razr encryption unsuccessful bootloop (already googled, can't solve)

Hi,
So I installed clockworkmod recovery for my (rooted) Razr XT910 using RazrTouchBlack.apk. Everything went accordingly and I did a reboot into CWM. That's where the problem began. I made a backup on SD card, not just a regular backup, and then after it backed up and rebooted I was greeted with the "encryption unsuccessful" screen.
I've been able to get the phone up and running again by booting it into AP fastboot and running the commands:
motofastboot erase cache
motofastboot erase userdata
motofastboot reboot
But the problem is now I can't shut it down/reboot, because doing that would bring me back to the "encryption unsuccessful" screen again. I suspect its not a Big problem, since I haven't lost anything in my internal sd card (most other threads I searched they were saying that if you see the "encryption unsuccessful" all the data in the sd card is gone. The phone was/is running OTA jelly bean, everything seems to work fine, only problem is I can't shut down, or I'd have to run the motofastboot commands all over again. My phone doesn't have root atm, and unlikely to get root either because the rooting process involves (you know it) rebooting.
Additional info: Could /hijack and /logwrapper in my system/bin directory have anything to do with this? I know to uninstall CWM these two files have to be deleted.
Any ideas on how to fix? Preferably not anything drastic like flashing an entire new rom. I'm still relatively new to android from a developers standpoint. Thanks a lot in advance.
I had same problem too
Hi!
I had same problem as you described, after backup and restart my phone gift error encryption unsuccessful and phone as bricked at all. I found a video on youtube to unbrick it by entering en recovery mode and flashing ROM again. I know it's not the best solution but I have again my phone up and running and no data has been lost on my SD card. Search for that video en Youtube, you will smile again! ;P

xt910 encryption loop
Please help, appreciated in advance.
I am also in an encryption unsuccessfull loop and have tried several options to get it out.
Installed RSDLite and tried to install several different roms, it comes back with failed at step 6/22 .
I managed to get into the boot menu and tried to "install upgrade from SD Card" several JB roms but they all failed at package validation errors.
it is an xt910 running on optus australia, i think it's gsm.
any help greatly appreciated, thanks

Stuck at Logo

Hello guys,
I have a problem, I hope you can help me with.
I used to have an EOS ROM. I decided to do factory reset and thats when my problems started. It didn't boot up anymore. After entering recovery I noticed it couldn't mount System partition. I tried reinstalling the ROM, but no success. Everytime I entered recovery, the System checkbox wasnt marked. So I decided to go back to stock, using http://androidforums.com/threads/return-your-xoom-to-stock.653230/. Now it is stuck at Logo screen and can't enter Recovery. (Goes to Reading ODM fuse, but not any further). I can still enter Fastboot and my laptop detects the tablet, when hooked up to it.
Please help me push the Recovery, cuz I'm getting "device not found" from ADB. I'm kinda lost here... Any help would be appreciated!
Update
I managed to install TWRP, but still can't mount System Partition. On wipe I get "Failed"when trying to clean the system part. I have tried Clockwork, it didn't help either.
Cmon guys! I don't want to JTAG it yet.

I am not very knowledgable about flashing, but one suggestion has come to my mind: if you can now get into TWRP (it wasn't clear whether you could based on your last post), try flashing a ROM without trying to clean the system partition. Just make sure the ROM matches the TWRP (i.e., big part ROM with big part TWRP).
Oh - another thought - folks in a number of threads have stated you need to explicitly follow both the recovery and ROM instructions for the XOOM. If you miss a step, people have had issues.

Soft Bricked Lenovo Tab 2 A8-50F

Hello,
I have an a8-50f that I was attempting to flash with a new ROM because I had the wifi issue that this particular model seems to have (connection basically dropping a minute or so after connecting to wifi). I flashed a TWRP which was supposed to be for my model. The guy on the forum post in which I found the link said it worked on his a8-50f. However, when I tried to boot the device after flashing TWRP it kept failing to mount "/data". After attempting a couple things to fix it I (stupidly) lost bootloader access via adb, when I tried to wipe the drive with China Recovery.
So now it's hanging at the Lenovo boot screen. I can still access China Recovery but it doesn't seem like I can do anything with that. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix the system or recovery partitions from this state? Maybe how to revert the TWRP flash. I have what should be the stock system and recovery images if someone knows a way to attempt a flash without adb access.
Thanks a lot for any help you guys can provide.
*Can't post images because I'm a new account. The TWRP error screen is at /ycD6B0e on imgur.
I know it is late but try Mtkclient. https://GitHub.com/bkerler/mtkclient
After building Mtkclient start the GUI and plug the tablet in from an off state.
Hope this works.

Moto G Bricked?

Hi.
A friend gave me his Moto G1 2013 to install Linage OS but I'm really having troubles with it, first of all it doesn't allow me to install TWRP, when I type fastboot flash recovery recovery.img it says that it installs but it doesn't, when I try to boot on it it just doesn't boot, the way I had access to TWRP was typing fastboot boot recovery.img...
When I got in I did the first step when you install a new Custom ROM that is wipe system, cache and dalvik cache, then I tried to install the ROM zip file but it gave me "error 7" I looked for solutions and I found one that is modifying updater-script file, I did it but it gave me another error about mount system, I looked for solutions too and I found one that is modifying file system format to anotherone and then bringing it back to the original format but still having the same error.
After that I decided to go back to stock ROM, I have flashed many times the stock ROM with fastboot commands but it just doesn't boot into the OS, when I try to boot the phone it boots into bootloader again... Any solution to this? Is it a hardware problem? Please help me I'm so embarrased with my friend.
Same thing happened to me!

Hi! I tried something similar with a similar result. I first unlocked my Moto G's bootloader. Then installed TWRP using fastboot. After that I tried flashing Resurrection Remix rom which failed. I've been stuck in a kind of bootloop since then. My handset powers up, finds something wrong, tries to go into recovery, fails and does this over and over again.
Since I am able to boot into bootloader mode, I tried to flash the stock rom by following instructions from this thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=47820707#post47820707
I have tried different variations from many different forums (fora?) all with the same result. Still stuck in the bootloop-thingie.
Btw, I also tried the unbricking guide from this thread
https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g/help/how-to-unbrick-moto-g-falcon-t3394788 without any success. My phone shows up as a Motorola ADB device and also as XT1033 in Device Manager when its plugged in.
Anyone know anything to help me out?

Hi, I found the solution time ago, sorry for answering to late, hope I can still be helpful.
Well, what I did is, I booted into TWRP, then I did a total format to the storage, after that I did something kind of crazy, I switched my storage format to anotherone and then I turned it back to how it was before (example: I was on fat32, I switched to exFAT and then I switched again to fat32) after doing that I tried to flash LinageOS and it allowed me, it booted and now my friend has Android Oreo on his Moto G1
Hope it works for you mate, those situations are very frustrating, good luck
