[Q] Huawei G510, no flashing, no recovering. Done? - General Questions and Answers

Hi all,
Let me shortly give you the facts:
Huawei G510-0100
Unlocked Bootloader with DC unlocker client and fastboot
Rooted and SU with Kingo root
got TWRP 2.6.3.3 on it.
So far so good. Took me a while, and looked like it works.
First I did a backup of the system and then wiped extensive.
Then I tried to flash the backup with the result that the restore failed, last message in cmd window: formatting system using make_ext4fs (wanted to post pic, but can´t as account is new).
Next try was flashing CM 10.2
It failed with the message "error flashing zip"
So now I can´t use the phone anymore.
Do you have any suggestions what may be wrong? Tried several things. Checked if fat32 is on the SD also tried to flash from internal SD. Nothing helped. Can I dump the phone or is there anything to try?
I would really appreciate some help. Thanks!
Cheers

Messed up my phone... sort of. Help!!

Hey guys,
Finally decided to flash a new rom (NOS M7) and kernel (KillX) onto my phone, I loaded up the zips onto my sd card and just flashed it using recovery only. I didn't flash boot.img in bootloader/fastboot. I know its stupid, its my fault that I was tired and that I haven't really flash roms since mid 2011 on my sensation after settling on a virtuous rom.
Now my wifi doesn't work (haven't been playing with it much - could be many more things that don't work), but the main problem is that I found out adb doesn't work for my phone anymore when i tried to flash boot.img again. Sure, I can still use my phone as a external drive, but that's about it. Can't find my phone though 'adb devices' when the phone is switched on normally, in fastboot usb, and in recovery. However, I can still sideload a .zip file in recovery. that works.
In fastboot, I get 'This device cannot start. (Code 10) - A request for the USB BOS descriptor failed.' I've tried downloading the newest drivers from htc, updated my sdks, installed/uninstalled htc sync manager - which always came up with 'unable to sync with device that is locked, please unlock device' or something like that even though my device's screen was unlocked.
You probably figured out that I'm not that advanced with technology as some of you peeps out there.
What do you think I should be doing now?
I feel like I have half a phone working. :crying:
Cheers,
Reece
Which variant do u have ... X920d or e ??
Also it might be best to return to stock first and ten start over again ... Also provide the hboot version from the boot loader screen
I have the x920d,
here's the info.
Hboot - 1.39.0000
Radio 3A.21.306.10
s-on.
What do you mean by return to stock, as in relocking my phone etc... but how? I can't even use adb. I can't really flash roms properly either.
Anyone...??
Try the ADB on another computer, it should work.
I'm still getting no luck with adb on another computer.
What else can i do?
I can even use adb .
Hope that help.

Note: That guy did with x920e ROM but I think the process should be same, good luck.
Sorry that i took a while to reply.
I just tried going into recovery and wiping everything as per the link,
i can't seem to wipe cache and system. weird. that's what i get for trying to format system or cache
'Formatting /system(or cache)...
E: format_volume: make_extf4fs failed on /dev/block/mmcblk0p32
Error formatting /system(or cache)!'
I can now flash boot.img, but somehow that won't mean anything until I can wipe my phone.
Can I try wiping it in bootloader?

[Q] XT910 razr encryption unsuccessful bootloop (already googled, can't solve)

Hi,
So I installed clockworkmod recovery for my (rooted) Razr XT910 using RazrTouchBlack.apk. Everything went accordingly and I did a reboot into CWM. That's where the problem began. I made a backup on SD card, not just a regular backup, and then after it backed up and rebooted I was greeted with the "encryption unsuccessful" screen.
I've been able to get the phone up and running again by booting it into AP fastboot and running the commands:
motofastboot erase cache
motofastboot erase userdata
motofastboot reboot
But the problem is now I can't shut it down/reboot, because doing that would bring me back to the "encryption unsuccessful" screen again. I suspect its not a Big problem, since I haven't lost anything in my internal sd card (most other threads I searched they were saying that if you see the "encryption unsuccessful" all the data in the sd card is gone. The phone was/is running OTA jelly bean, everything seems to work fine, only problem is I can't shut down, or I'd have to run the motofastboot commands all over again. My phone doesn't have root atm, and unlikely to get root either because the rooting process involves (you know it) rebooting.
Additional info: Could /hijack and /logwrapper in my system/bin directory have anything to do with this? I know to uninstall CWM these two files have to be deleted.
Any ideas on how to fix? Preferably not anything drastic like flashing an entire new rom. I'm still relatively new to android from a developers standpoint. Thanks a lot in advance.
I had same problem too
Hi!
I had same problem as you described, after backup and restart my phone gift error encryption unsuccessful and phone as bricked at all. I found a video on youtube to unbrick it by entering en recovery mode and flashing ROM again. I know it's not the best solution but I have again my phone up and running and no data has been lost on my SD card. Search for that video en Youtube, you will smile again! ;P

xt910 encryption loop
Please help, appreciated in advance.
I am also in an encryption unsuccessfull loop and have tried several options to get it out.
Installed RSDLite and tried to install several different roms, it comes back with failed at step 6/22 .
I managed to get into the boot menu and tried to "install upgrade from SD Card" several JB roms but they all failed at package validation errors.
it is an xt910 running on optus australia, i think it's gsm.
any help greatly appreciated, thanks
Bill

[Q] Soft Brick

Hi guys, I did something really dumb and I can't seem to learn from my mistakes. Basically I rooted my 1+ with TWRP recovery. Everything was going great until I get these really bad lags. So I decided to do a factory reset but it didn't work! It booted me into TWRP recovery every time I tried to do that. So this is where the stupid mistakes begin. I wiped everything, I mean everything while I was in TWRP, without any backups. Now I get this message in TWRP "No OS installed" and my phone is stuck in the 1+ loading screen. I have tried doing a fastboot oem flash stock recovery but that didn't work. It said that my "device is not unlock, cannot flash or erase." I also have tried flasing 25R in TWRP, it said successful, but when I go to reboot, it still give me the message "No OS installed." I tried doing adb sideload, but i'm not quite familiar with that. It gave me some error in cmd prompt. Is there anything else I can try to fix this issue? Sorry, I am such a noob at this.
******************************* FIXED
In my last attempt before I give up on this phone, I downloaded all the ROMs I came across and flashed them through TWRP. All the one's I tried did not work but it finally work with the last one. I don't know how or what happened there but I'm glad it work again!
**tears of joy
Can you please tell us what rom you used? Thank you

Can't mount data? [PLEASE HELP]

Hello
Really bad morning.
Woke up to find my OPO (was running COS 12.1 with TWRP), which I had plugged in to charge overnight, stuck on an android screen which said please enter your password. I entered my Google account password and then the next screen says, decryption unsuccessful. "Your password is correct but your data is corrupted. You need to factory reset your device and once you reboot you will have an opportunity to retrieve data backed up with your Google account".
I tried to reboot, just to make sure, and the same set of screens reappeared.
I tried to boot into recovery. The 'teamwin' screen kept flashing to no avail.
Entered fastboot. Flashed recovery, TWRP-2.8.7.0-bacon.
Tried to factory reset but the prompt flashed an error as follows:
'E: Could not mount /data and unable to find crypto footer' and then a series of others, but " could not mount '/data' " was repeated over and over
I'm still stuck here. How to get out of this situation?
PS: When I try to look at the mount options in recovery, the internal storage is labelled as 0 MB. This is scary.
I'm more screwed than you are. Twrp 2870 does not properly support encryption. Great to know an official release is that broken, right? Flash an older twrp, I believe 2860 or 61 are what you want. Try to reflash your cm zip. You're going to have to resetup your device but your internal sd should be fine, it says 0 mb because it's not decrypted so it can't read it. Then you should be okay... Well, except I've never seen that screen you described in the first paragraph. But that usually related to apps, not your internal sd. Good luck. I've accidentally erased all my system and data so I can't adb flash and can't flash from internal sd. My last hope before reformating everything and losing my pictures is to install via USB OTG. Which you could also do.
Good luck

Hey, I just found out that there is a way to flash a system image via fastboot! This is why I buy unlocked developer minded phones! If only OP hadn't dropped the ball on the OP2 (I actually got an invite which I didn't even use).
Anyway, go here: https://forums.oneplus.net/threads/...lashing-recovery-roms-kernels-rooting.291274/
and scroll down to "The Bad" In ORANGE text: 2. Recovering from no OS installed and no access to TWRP, fastboot does work.
Since TWRP is basically useless for us, I followed the instructions. I flashed everything EXCEPT the userdata img. AND, instead of flashing the extracted recovery, I just reflashed TWRP 2861 which I have on the PC.
Unfortunately! All my pics are gone. Pretty sure removing encryption with TWRP (before reading it was broken) did it. Try installing a good ROM via USB OTG and let me know if that saves your internal sd. I'd love to know for the future.

Moto G Bricked?

Hi.
A friend gave me his Moto G1 2013 to install Linage OS but I'm really having troubles with it, first of all it doesn't allow me to install TWRP, when I type fastboot flash recovery recovery.img it says that it installs but it doesn't, when I try to boot on it it just doesn't boot, the way I had access to TWRP was typing fastboot boot recovery.img...
When I got in I did the first step when you install a new Custom ROM that is wipe system, cache and dalvik cache, then I tried to install the ROM zip file but it gave me "error 7" I looked for solutions and I found one that is modifying updater-script file, I did it but it gave me another error about mount system, I looked for solutions too and I found one that is modifying file system format to anotherone and then bringing it back to the original format but still having the same error.
After that I decided to go back to stock ROM, I have flashed many times the stock ROM with fastboot commands but it just doesn't boot into the OS, when I try to boot the phone it boots into bootloader again... Any solution to this? Is it a hardware problem? Please help me I'm so embarrased with my friend.
Same thing happened to me!

Hi! I tried something similar with a similar result. I first unlocked my Moto G's bootloader. Then installed TWRP using fastboot. After that I tried flashing Resurrection Remix rom which failed. I've been stuck in a kind of bootloop since then. My handset powers up, finds something wrong, tries to go into recovery, fails and does this over and over again.
Since I am able to boot into bootloader mode, I tried to flash the stock rom by following instructions from this thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=47820707#post47820707
I have tried different variations from many different forums (fora?) all with the same result. Still stuck in the bootloop-thingie.
Btw, I also tried the unbricking guide from this thread
https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g/help/how-to-unbrick-moto-g-falcon-t3394788 without any success. My phone shows up as a Motorola ADB device and also as XT1033 in Device Manager when its plugged in.
Anyone know anything to help me out?

Hi, I found the solution time ago, sorry for answering to late, hope I can still be helpful.
Well, what I did is, I booted into TWRP, then I did a total format to the storage, after that I did something kind of crazy, I switched my storage format to anotherone and then I turned it back to how it was before (example: I was on fat32, I switched to exFAT and then I switched again to fat32) after doing that I tried to flash LinageOS and it allowed me, it booted and now my friend has Android Oreo on his Moto G1
Hope it works for you mate, those situations are very frustrating, good luck
