When someone calls me on viber or if I call them, there is alot of gap in between what we say. It takes 3 seconds for the other person to receive what I said and vice versa. I have an HTC amaze 4g. How do I fix this?
That sounds more like a bandwidth problem rather than a software/hardware issue. Unless you have blazing fast internet connectivity there is bound to be some lag between the video and audio.

Hi there, I've been having problems with my brand new Desire S.
Whenever I place or receive a call over the cellular network I can hear the other party fine, but they can only hear me for the first 5 seconds of the call. It doesn't happen all the time, but I'd say 9 out of 10 calls are affected.
I've also configured internet calling and the calls over VoIP are not affected by this.
Any ideas on what might be causing this behavior?
Turns out it was an out-of-the-factory problem. Mainboard had to be replaced by HTC service center. I'm still waiting for the phone to be shipped back to me.
It's disappointing to buy a new phone, be able to use it for a week and then have it 3 weeks in the service.
HTC should improve their manufacturing quality assurance if they want to be considered a real phonemaker.
I have read through the FAQs and seen several posts from users of other phones and other networks with the same issue, but there has not been an answer to be found.
I've experienced this issue with 4 different ROMs now, so it's not ROM-based. I've tried 3 different radios, so it's not likely modem-based.
The issue is that I will get voicemail notifications for calls I miss, but I'm sitting at my desk with my phone and it didn't ring, nor is there a missed call indication. 5 minutes later, someone else might call me and the call comes through fine. It appears to be purely random. People who call me sometimes get through, sometimes not. It's not the same person who can't get through, or the same network.
Does anyone have an idea what is happening?

Your description definitely sounds familiar. There are times when the phone was under clothing or left on vibrate, then there are those back to back instances where you notice because the first call went straight to voicemail and the next one gets through.
Ideas? Maybe not, but there may be some clues worth considering. Every wireless carrier I've used suffers dead spots where you are 99% guaranteed to have your call drop in progress driving by.
Locally (NJ) AT&T has 2 on the westbound "covered roadway" leading to the skyway. My point is I've observed where they won't affect my passenger's TMobile calls. Oddly, when I experience this there, the call has usually gone on uninterrupted through the Holland Tunnel. Must be an infrastructure quirk.
The drive by carrier dead zone is a fixed location call deterrent. An expert could probably say how much each example is based on tower locations versus radio interference. I guess a similar scenario might be possible wherein the call recipient is stationary, like at your desk, and some moving interference breaks a fragile tower connection. I have to say it seems a lot less prevalent with SR vs. previous smartphones and with my current ROM / Modem vs. former ones.

Thanks. No, this is definitely chronic and not related to dead spots. I have my phone with me at my desk, 3 or 4 bars, no issues. Just doesn't come in. It's been really bad since moving to the JB ROMs. It pretty much never happened without explanation (dead zone, etc.) when I was on ICS and earlier. :/
One other performance problem that my Captivate had resembled this.
When I complained to Customer Service, they did some kind of remote (non-destructive) "reset" of my account. That corrected the random call drops I had reported then.

Were you dropping calls midstream, or not receiving calls? My problem is with not receiving calls when I'm somewhere I usually do and at times when my cell service looks fine (adequate bars).

Now that you mention, I recall it was a mix. Bars were good, some calls were silently missed, others FCd the phone app while ringing in, forcing reboot. Good, stable calls surrounded the (<5%) failed ones. AT&T's account reset corrected both issues. Stock ROM back then was Éclair or Froyo.
Hi All,
I wonder if someone can help me. I am having an issue with call quality with a number of users on O2 (UK) and can't seem to resolve it.
In a specific area (about 20 meters radius) all incoming and outgoing calls have very poor outgoing call quality, the person on the other end of the line describes the experience as "being underwater" or "robot voice" and if it's particularly bad every other word is cut out. My users can hear the other person perfectly with no distortion.
This issue is happening on a number of different handsets, SIM's and phone numbers.
I have complained to O2 who have provided a femtocell "Boostbox" which doesn't seem to have helped at all. All my users have always had 4 bar full signal strength, with or without the boostbox.
If my users walk out onto the car park the signal clears up and all is well (although this is no good for business!).
I've come to the conclusion that it must be something interfering with cell phone quality as this issue only started a few months ago.
My question is do my symptoms sound like interference or something else (an overburdened cell tower?), and if it is interference, how can I track down whats causing it and save my users a lot of headaches.
Thanks for any help
Gordon
Hello.
During calls in closed rooms, I experience bad call quality. By the time calls are disrubted , so that I can't hear my oppsite for 1-2 sec.
I have also figured out that during calls, the Honor 6 switches mobile data on and off.
(using 4G, 3G, 2G, doesnt matter)
If I disable mobile data before calling somebody, the disrubtions are a way less.
Outside everything is ok. I think this depends on the bulding structure.
Has anybody made the same experience ?
I also have call quality problems... what is wrong with this phone, i dont hear my opposite for 3-4 sekunds and its lagging like hell after that.. and then it works normal for 2 minutes and then again
I am experiencing what I can best describe as "choppy" call quality on my Google Pixel. I have been using Verizon for over a decade and I've never had any problems with their reception on any phone, and I've owned quite a few (Motorola and Samsung phones). I purchased a Pixel from google webstore and I've been using it for about a month. Since I've owned it I noticed that I will randomly get instances where during a call the reception will become choppy, I'll only be able to understand every other word the person says. The people on the other end of the line also have the same problem hearing me. During these calls I noticed that the reception is fine according to my cell phone bars. I also noticed that the call almost never drops, it just becomes choppy. I'm relucant to blame this on Verizon because I've never had any problems with them. The reception in my area is great with Verizon (I've been at this address for years). My questions are; Do any other Pixel owners on Verizon have this problem? If so how do you fix it? I've tried several useless tips that I found on other websites, things like, "try restarting your phone" or "try specifying your preferred network as CDMA/LTE". None of that makes this go away. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
Is it possible this is your first experience with HD calls? Poor reception on HD calls sounds different than on regular calls much like how analog TV static on analog broadcast was replaced with pixelated images with digital broadcast in poor reception areas.

I don't know if this is my first experience with HD calls. How do I find that out? My previous phone was a Samsung S4 Mini, it was a 4G LTE phone. I never had any problems with that phone.'
EDIT:
Okay, found the setting. In the Pixel it is called Advanced Calling. It was on. I'll turn it off and see if that helps.
It's only used if you're calling another Verizon customer who has a capable phone with the feature enabled. The dialer app says "HD VOICE CALL" or something similar once the call is underway.

Okay, I've had this feature disabled for over a week and I haven't had any of the choppy call quality that I was seeing. Your solution seems to have worked. I'll keep this feature disabled for a bit longer and report back.
That's great that it helped but a bummer that it doesn't work well for you. I've found the few calls I make that are able to use HD voice are quite a lot clearer.
