I am experiencing what I can best describe as "choppy" call quality on my Google Pixel. I have been using Verizon for over a decade and I've never had any problems with their reception on any phone, and I've owned quite a few (Motorola and Samsung phones). I purchased a Pixel from google webstore and I've been using it for about a month. Since I've owned it I noticed that I will randomly get instances where during a call the reception will become choppy, I'll only be able to understand every other word the person says. The people on the other end of the line also have the same problem hearing me. During these calls I noticed that the reception is fine according to my cell phone bars. I also noticed that the call almost never drops, it just becomes choppy. I'm relucant to blame this on Verizon because I've never had any problems with them. The reception in my area is great with Verizon (I've been at this address for years). My questions are; Do any other Pixel owners on Verizon have this problem? If so how do you fix it? I've tried several useless tips that I found on other websites, things like, "try restarting your phone" or "try specifying your preferred network as CDMA/LTE". None of that makes this go away. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
Is it possible this is your first experience with HD calls? Poor reception on HD calls sounds different than on regular calls much like how analog TV static on analog broadcast was replaced with pixelated images with digital broadcast in poor reception areas.

I don't know if this is my first experience with HD calls. How do I find that out? My previous phone was a Samsung S4 Mini, it was a 4G LTE phone. I never had any problems with that phone.'
EDIT:
Okay, found the setting. In the Pixel it is called Advanced Calling. It was on. I'll turn it off and see if that helps.
It's only used if you're calling another Verizon customer who has a capable phone with the feature enabled. The dialer app says "HD VOICE CALL" or something similar once the call is underway.

Okay, I've had this feature disabled for over a week and I haven't had any of the choppy call quality that I was seeing. Your solution seems to have worked. I'll keep this feature disabled for a bit longer and report back.
That's great that it helped but a bummer that it doesn't work well for you. I've found the few calls I make that are able to use HD voice are quite a lot clearer.

Ok. I have the G2X from the GS4G.
Does anyone notice really bad wifi calling quality?
When I was on my GS4G, the call quality was awesome. I mean, no problems, fast connection, no jitter.
With the G2X, the jitter is almost unusable.
Should I wait for the 2.3 update to see if that fixes the issue or should I just return the G2X for my old GS4g. The only thing I would miss would be the flash.. I know.. crazy, but I really just use my phone for business and rarely need that much CPU power.
Thoughts?
I use wifi calling in my office since the reception is horrible. I haven't had any issues with call quality, more or less smooth and crystal clear. Not sure what could be causing the jitters with yours.

if you are not having problems, what the network type you are using.
A/B/G/N
Are you using a bluetooth,etc,?
Thanks!
I can attest to my wifi calling being poor. The call starts out with good quality then slowly diminishes and either drops me or says my wifi lost connection. It definitely isnt my router and I shouldnt have lost connection... Not sure what the deal is.
Home and offfice are both N, not using a BT headset.
I use Wi-Fi Calling a lot. On the G2, the call quality was good even with a moderate signal. Sitting five feet away from my Netgear N600 n-speed router with 0 dbm the G2X flakes out on Wi-Fi calls. It'll start out great then voices start to drag and muddle and then goes back to great. I don't think it's the Wi-Fi Calling app, I think it's LG's F-d up implementation of Wi-Fi which is causing the signal to fluctuate. The router's bullet proof and the G2 performed flawlessly (as do other telephony devices hanging off the router) so I know it's the phone.
I've had issues with wifi calling as well. static not clear. Turned off the wifi calling and it worked perfect. I'm not high on wifi calling right now

My experiences with wifi calling have been mixed. Sometimes I get absolutely perfect calling, and other times its completely unusable due to stutters. Based on this and what the rest of you are saying, I'd agree that its LG's wireless drivers that are the problem. The hardware itself seems to be capable, and its not the router, so the software is the only thing left. And if people have been able to use t-mobile's wifi calling app on other phones, that leaves this phone's particular software, ie the stuff LG provided us with, since the wifi calling app is the same throughout the different phones. Hopefully gingerbread or even better cm 7 will fix this.
wifi calling on my g2x is awesome! Way better than what it was on my old blackberry 8900.
Wifi calling was horrible on my SGS 4G, while it's great on my G2x.

I'm definitely getting better call quality on my g2x than I did on my mytouch 4g. However, I do occasionally have a problem with the app failing to register on T-Mobile's network. However, a quick restart of wifi and the wifi calling app always seems to rectify the problem.

I had the MyTouch 4G, MT4G with CM7, GS4G, and G2X
Here is my experience.
At first I did everything, Linksys, Netgear, Apple Router, N/G/A/ 2.4/5(for the 4g that had that), QOS, WMM, Blah blah blah..
It was never my network.
My phone calls are not short, they can be 1-2 hours long with tech support/customers
MT4G - Jitter.
MT4G(CM7-RC) - Better But Occasional Jitter
GS4G - Almost Perfect, some jitter but we are talking 1 time a day, not 20 times during a call.
G2X - Jitter, similar to the MT4G
Well.. sigh..
Because I used Wifi Calling exclusively when I am in my home office (all carrier have a problem because of the houses around me and a basement Office - (Sprint/VZW/ATT/TMO)), I exchanged my G2X back to my old Galaxy S4g. I loved the G2X but the wifi calling was critical for me. I agree with someone who posted Cm7 might help, but my gut is telling me it is a wonky wifi chip/card, not the wifi application.
I know software will update, but by then I might be getting the HTC sensation and Android will fully support the dual core procs and more improvement time for the wifi calling.
Why I had to return it:
Wifi Calling Bad for me, Had to do a battery pull a couple times, reboots didn't bother me every once in a while, I notice with wifi calling it would many times not release the router, in other works, I would leave my house and even though I was on 4G full bars - I could not complete any calls - Bug in Wifi Calling software?, Battery wasn't by far the worst (i think the thunderbolt has that honor ), but with the galaxy I could go through my 5am-11pm day. Bluetooth not connecting automatically, (I noticed this with an LG Optimus S - Buggy?) I like the touchwiz (shoot me).
I notice that Wifi calling goes south when the screen goes off. Cyanogen includes a program called GANOptimizer which, for Gingerbread, uses a new API to disable wifi power saving.
The built in gingerbread SIP stack also disables wifi power saving on its own, BTW.
My wifi calling is flaky. Sometimes it's great, sometimes it's very poor. I just went ahead and disabled the wifi calling using Titanium Backup Pro.
I have read through the FAQs and seen several posts from users of other phones and other networks with the same issue, but there has not been an answer to be found.
I've experienced this issue with 4 different ROMs now, so it's not ROM-based. I've tried 3 different radios, so it's not likely modem-based.
The issue is that I will get voicemail notifications for calls I miss, but I'm sitting at my desk with my phone and it didn't ring, nor is there a missed call indication. 5 minutes later, someone else might call me and the call comes through fine. It appears to be purely random. People who call me sometimes get through, sometimes not. It's not the same person who can't get through, or the same network.
Does anyone have an idea what is happening?

Your description definitely sounds familiar. There are times when the phone was under clothing or left on vibrate, then there are those back to back instances where you notice because the first call went straight to voicemail and the next one gets through.
Ideas? Maybe not, but there may be some clues worth considering. Every wireless carrier I've used suffers dead spots where you are 99% guaranteed to have your call drop in progress driving by.
Locally (NJ) AT&T has 2 on the westbound "covered roadway" leading to the skyway. My point is I've observed where they won't affect my passenger's TMobile calls. Oddly, when I experience this there, the call has usually gone on uninterrupted through the Holland Tunnel. Must be an infrastructure quirk.
The drive by carrier dead zone is a fixed location call deterrent. An expert could probably say how much each example is based on tower locations versus radio interference. I guess a similar scenario might be possible wherein the call recipient is stationary, like at your desk, and some moving interference breaks a fragile tower connection. I have to say it seems a lot less prevalent with SR vs. previous smartphones and with my current ROM / Modem vs. former ones.

Thanks. No, this is definitely chronic and not related to dead spots. I have my phone with me at my desk, 3 or 4 bars, no issues. Just doesn't come in. It's been really bad since moving to the JB ROMs. It pretty much never happened without explanation (dead zone, etc.) when I was on ICS and earlier. :/
One other performance problem that my Captivate had resembled this.
When I complained to Customer Service, they did some kind of remote (non-destructive) "reset" of my account. That corrected the random call drops I had reported then.

Were you dropping calls midstream, or not receiving calls? My problem is with not receiving calls when I'm somewhere I usually do and at times when my cell service looks fine (adequate bars).

Now that you mention, I recall it was a mix. Bars were good, some calls were silently missed, others FCd the phone app while ringing in, forcing reboot. Good, stable calls surrounded the (<5%) failed ones. AT&T's account reset corrected both issues. Stock ROM back then was Éclair or Froyo.
After searching online I seem to be the only person finding this with the Nexus 5. I've only made 3 calls so far but in every one (from the same location) people have complained that my voice sounds choppy.
I am on the same network as I was with my old Desire HD so the only thing that's changed is the switch to Micro SIM. My network's service status is fine and I'm getting full bars.
Anyone else had this?
I am having a similar problem. My phone gets stuck in 1x voice mode.....this seems to only happen to me when I am connected to LTE data.
I've noticed a strange behavior with my T-Mobile V20. It really likes to drop service and then show a loading symbol for a bit before locking onto a signal again.
Usually the current reception is weak (1 bar), but not always. Sometimes it does it when I have 2-3 bars of LTE, just to switch down to 5 bars 2G.
There are also times when it'll show that I have 3-4 bars of voice reception, but the status will say "Searching" and calls won't work. Rebooting will make LTE appear.
Is this normal behavior? I just got this phone, and it's also the phone I used to switch off Verizon. T-Mobile definitely has better coverage where I am, but that's only when it isn't dropping the signal.
I have the same issue with my LG V20 phone. The reception/signal strength is horrible. Callers constantly complain that my phone goes in an out, making it difficult to maintain a conversation. Bluetooth connectivity is also an issue as connecting the device requires multiple attempts. This phone is becoming useless due to the reception and Bluetooth connectivity issues. I will continue to use my Samsung Galaxy Note 4 as a backup. I have never experienced any such issues while using the Samsung device. Hopefully the developers at LG are taking notes and a fix/update will be released before 2017.

I haven't had problems with Bluetooth; in fact, I've had the opposite; Bluetooth works nicely.
I hate to say it, but I haven't actually made a call on my phone yet, so I can't comment on that, but you seem to be having it much worse than I am.

What kind of case are you using? It sounds like you have something blocking the signal (your case), you have multiple, defective radios in your device, or something -- in the area within which you operate your phone -- is interfering with the signal. I am not experiencing those issues at all, and neither is my wife (we're both using US996).
Good luck in any case. Your phone not working correctly is a horrible experience.

Well now that CM14.1 is for all Snapdragon variants, we've got some new helpers.
So I've figured out at least one of the signal oddities. I'm going from one bar on LTE on T-Mobile to roaming on AT&T. I was able to use the app LTE Discovery to see that I was on AT&T's LTE B17 (which isn't even listed as supported on the H918). The phone was just disabling voice and data.
My cell reception seems normal for tmobile(which is mostly not good in my area) but the weird thing is on bluetooth. When i bend down at work with my phone in my pocket the BT signal get choppy. Like im compressing the antenna or something. Weird.

You could take a look at the FCC test for BT https://apps.fcc.gov/oetcf/eas/repo...on_id=Yart0xj3tUt4f53nf7wvbQ==&fcc_id=ZNFH918
I found out that this phone is rated for LTE B13 from there. Looks like it supports a lot more bands than LG or T-Mobile say, since even the FCC doesn't include B17.
Am I the only one out there experiencing severe call quality issues? My phone (T-Mobile OnePlus 7 Pro) is suffering from severe call quality issues.
I seem to be having the issue with the following configurations in an attempt to narrow down / in on the issue:
Galaxy Buds (BT Headset) = Calls on Wifi Calling, Regular LTE and WhatsApp calls. Broken audio (stuttering)
Direct Phone microphone (on handset) = Calls on Wifi Calling, Regular LTE and WhatsApp calls. Broken audio (stuttering) / Drop-outs
Purchased USB-C to 3.5 mm adapter to wired headset = Severe Echo on Wifi Calling, Regular LTE and WhatsApp.
I've tried driving into range of another tower and experience these same problems. I picked up my daughter's iphone X and on the same towers and wifi network, these problems don't exist. The call quality is pristine.
On my Note 8/9 (can't remember what the current one is, but I own it), the problems don't exist in these same configurations. The problem is clearly local to the OnePlus 7 Pro. I've done the "clear cache, reset networking, reset wifi" solutions and they don't seem to help. At this point, I'm wondering if it's a bad phone or just bad software.
I'm at my wit's end and pretty much feeling buyer's regret right now, because I so wanted to love this phone, but it's caused me more heartache than ever. Obviously, the phone is up to date on the most recent version of T-Mobile firmware, but I can't possibly imagine a phone could be so bad at doing what a phone does and pass the certification lab for the carrier and get the amazing reviews that exist on the web.
I'm a few minutes away from just going back out to the store and buying a new Galaxy S(whatever is the most recent)+
**frustrated** and **confused**
Lol..
Incredible cell reception and call quality here, on international stock, the weird part for me is it sounds worse on VoLTE and Wifi calling. Regular voice calls are outstanding.
But if you have both of those disabled and the call quality is that bad, I would exchange/return it.

Call quality is excellent for me as is reception. TMO on TMO Rom. My only issue is DUO freezes the person on the other end for me. Its only been to the same person so far but that is my only issue
You have done soft reset, but try to do a hard reset(erase everything instead of clearing cache). That helped with some crackling noise but.
Call quality not even in the same ball park as my tmobile note 9.
I also had issues with my OP 7 pro. Specifically on speakerphone wife could not hear me at all. I was on the international variant + T-Mobile. I ended up sending it back. Bought the OP 7 and have the exact same issues. I sold me OP 6T tp upgrade to the 7 series. I ended up finding a used OP6T in offerup. Popped the SIM card in. No call quality issues and people can hear me just fine when in speaker phone and driving. I usually have my phone placed in the center console in my car. So for me this is the primary way to talk. It sad that the OP 7 series has these issues. I was really hoping they would fix this in a software update. Still handing on to the OP 7 praying for a fix. But I may just end up selling it on swappa.
Have you guys tried to get a replacement? I don't have any problem with call quality. I use Bluetooth headset or reg phone on ear way most of the time, and rarely on speaker.
I had that problem on the T-Mobile variant and when I converted it to the international firmware it doesn't have that problem now
My call quality is really good sometimes. Some times, it'll have weird moments where I get muted or the other person does. Speaker phone mic sucks real bad though. I hate using speaker phone if I need both hands to do something, so I ordered a bluetooth headset.

That's probably why you aren't experiencing the issues we are seeing. Its mainly on the speakerphone. I am currently using a op 6t until I can find a fix. I don't have any issues on the 6t.
