[MOD] Alarm clock from 4.2.2 themed to better fit 4.1 style - v1.2 - RAZR i Themes and Apps

I took the 4.2.2 alarm clock from arman68 modular rom and modified it to better fit 4.1 Style.
What I did:
- red bold "all caps" headlines changed to white non bold not "all caps"
- everything else that was red is now holo blue
I also tried to get rid of the ugly bold/slim design of the clock fonts. But that isn't so easy as it seems to be and therefore I failed. Maybe in a future update...
Tools used for my modding activities:
- Virtuous Ten Studio
- ImageMagick (command line image manipulation)
- win-bash (UNIX Bash Shell for Windows)
- Greenfish Icon Editor Pro
- WinMerge
- Notepad++
- my brain
Changelog:.
v1.1: Background is now black. City names in city selection list are now smaller. not condensed and not "all caps". Managed to make the hour digits a lot thinner on desk clock and alarm screens. Unfortunately they are still a little bolder than the minutes. Seems to be impossible to obtain the same font for hours an minutes by xml editing.
v1.1.1: Added "UTC" timezone. "Ho-Chi-Minh-Stadt" had a double entry in German. Corrected that, one entry is now "Saigon".
v1.2: Reverted the grey gradient on the actionbars on main clock screen to what it originally was - a pure transparency gradient. Actionbars on settings, cities list and alarmclock are now standard holo style with app icon (removed the blue divider line on alarmclock screen, because it doesn't look nice there). Changed the locations icon on the world clock screen to the globe icon from deskclock 4.4

Good job.
I actually like the red and bold/caps heading; this is the way google designed it. But I understand everyone has different choices, and your changes do fit well in the holo design.
To tell you the truth: I have little love for the holo blue. Do you know that the colour blue causes the body to release hormones that keep us awake? Not so good for when using the phone in the evening or at night.
If it was up to me, I would have themed the whole JB interface with the holo orange. For reference, here are the standard holo colours:

No, the digital clock widget has been completely removed by arman68. I've read that backporting the digital widget would mean a rewrite of larger parts of its code because it uses some 4.2 specific system calls with no substitute on 4.1

Here is a test version for Brazilian JB ROM.
Please report if it's working.
Don't forget to backup before trying.

Thanks man.
It's really useful for me.

New version v1.2 available.

good job
thanks

It worked perfectly!
I’m running a XT890 with locked bootloader and rooted.
My System version is 982.50.29.XT890.Brasil.en.BR
Android Stock 4.1.2
Language: Brazilian Portuguese
DeskClock version 1.2
It’s running properly, the texts are just fine.
There’s only one issue, when you start the stopwatch and alternate to other application, the status bar shows the Stopwatch notification (that it is running in background) but the time is above the Stopwatch icon.
This don’t happen to the countdown.
I’ve attached two screenshots to show exactly how it is.
Anyway, I loved this mod, I couldn’t believe when I realized that RAZR I didn’t have a countdown and a stopwatch, I came from a Defy and it has at least the countdown.
Thanks a lot hypophysis!!!

How do I do it?

Hey man! I have exactly the same version as yours, and my bootloader is locked and the phone rooted. I'd like to know step by step how to install this mod. I've been craving for a clock app with stopwatch and timer...I don't understand why JB 4.1 doesn't have it. I use a third-party app to do the job, but a native one is MUCH better.
I would really appreciate if you could help me with that!
Thanks in advance

Sure!
There’s no secret to make it work!
I've used Root Explorer to do the job, so you gonna need it.
1) Download the DeskClock version 1.2, I've tried the 1.1.1 Brazilian version and it didn't work;
2) Make a backup of your Deskclock and the ODEX file;
3) Delete the files Deskclock.apk and the ODEX file;
4) Copy the new Deskclock to the System APP folder (root/system/app);
5) Set permissions to 644, in case of doubt you can check the permissions in any other file inside this folder, all Apps should be set with this permission.
6) Reboot your phone, I used the way shutdown and turn on, but you can do it with Terminal emulator without any problems too
7) Enjoy your new Clock with Stopwatch and countdown.
I’m using it since last week, no problem was found in the Alarm, Countdown and Stopwatch, the only issue is that I’ve mentioned before.
I hope to help you.
If you need anything else just ask me, I’ll be glad to help.

What kind of problem happen?
Did you get a FC?
I did everything that I wrote and for me it worked.
The permissions are really important, if you forget or put something else it will not work.
Remeber that the ODEX have to be deleted, otherwise it will not work.
Try again and make sure to download the version 1.2.

No, I didn't get FC. The app disappeared from the drawer, so I can't access the settings for the alarms and so on. I did exactly as you told me, including the permissions. I copied both the APK and the ODEX original files to a safe place, but when I rebooted the phone and couldn't access the clock no more, I copied the original files back to system/app and rebooted again. This didn't work as well...it seems I lost the original app funcionality forever...To remedy this I installed Alarm Klock from google play, a nice, simple and useful alarm app.. This doesn't really solve the problem though, because this app doesn't have stopwatch and timer.
This version I tried to install is the 1.2 ...maybe I should try the 1.1.1 BR...

Installed 1.2 over br stock ROM, works fine!

updated and fixed
It's good so far but the battery icon is off center for the percentage number in CM 5.0.6. It sits off to the right. Obviously it can be turned off but I like it and it's only a small adjustment needed I think to have the text in the middle, which would look awesome.
-
Also, I prefer the version of helix launcher 2 with the launcher button in the middle. I think this was changed back in the most recent one. This is a personal preference though so I don't expect you to change it just for me

sorry about links being broken, fixed, and regarding battery percantage, that requires more knowlege than i have, i keep it turned off, batterylife widget ftw. but as per the helixlauncher i just need some time and a copy of the middle buttoned one and i will theme it. thanks!
I tried flashing the black zip and I get constant FCs. I even wiped and it still happens. After the wipe I was getting boot loops. Any ideas?
same here always FC or bootloop
What is the name of that battery widget you have?
Nice theme!
If you wanna have a clear bar, that works better with market or browser, look at my GlasStatusBar.

First of all, I love it.
But I wish that it supported the 5-icon rows in the app launcher. Also, how do I turn off the battery percentage in the battery icon? And lastly, why do the pictures have the droid guy in the center but the download doesn't? I am using the clear status bar.

the android guy is themed into the launcher, its not working for you?
and batt percent is in spare parts,
UPDATED!
Yea, the android guy was there, just off to the side and I was wondering why that differed from the pictures. Also, is there anyway to make the 5 row launcher or is there another one that has that option? I know CM has it.
EDIT: Also, I am about to download the newest update. But if it hasn't changed, is there any way to change the color of the name of the folder, the word that is in the top that you long press to rename a folder.

Removed 'last updated' from Asus Weather Widget (root not required)

I was a bit annoyed by the addition of the "last updated" line in the Asus Weather widget included in the 3.2 update. I thought it was ugly and provided a bit too much information to the widget. Since there wasn't an option to switch it off, I disabled it from being displayed. I also edited the widget layout files to create another version with smaller text. A screenshot is attached that shows the original (top) and the modified (bottom) Weather widgets. The second screenshot shows the original (top), modified (bottom left), and modified & resized (bottom right).
Root access is not required as the modified Weather widget is not a system application and can coexist with the original Weather widget. The ModWeather.apk installs like any other application and does not replace the original Weather widget. After installing the widget, I found a reboot necessary to get the widget to appear in the list.
I have received confirmation that it works without root.
Update: I received reports of these modified widgets not working for some. Upon investigation, I believe I found the source of the problem and have corrected it. I also rebuilt the modified widgets using the stock widget from a system dump of build 8.6.15.13. If you installed these modified widgets prior to October 7th 2011, you may want to install the updated version(s). I updated the version number to 1.0.2 to facilitate upgrading from the previous 1.0 version.
Update 2: With the release of ICS, Asus included the ability to resize the Weather widget to 1x1, 4x3, or 4x4. The 4x4 variant includes a daily forecast. I have been working on a resized variant w/ the 'last updated' text removed. While it is still a work in progress, the latest revision can be found here.
Feel free to let me know whether it works or not for you and don't be afraid to press that little thanks button below.
--------
There have been several inquiries related to the battery widget in the screenshots. It is actually a widget that I created for my own use and has nowhere near the features of some of the other offerings. My Transformer is my first real exposure to Android, so I wanted to write my own to get a better understanding of Android application development. I also wanted to use images that complemented the Asus Weather and Date widgets. I am providing this widget as is and cannot guarantee any further development and/or improvements. However, feedback is always appreciated.
Battery widget updated to version 1.1.0 on August 16th 2011.

[SENSE UI][CM7] 99% Complete theme ported from Optimus V

Hey guys, I made a sense UI theme a while back ago for the optimus v, but it is really a universal theme. All of the elements need for the theme are included in the zip file, but things like the status bar mods and the fonts won't work because there is no cyanogenmod for the triumph yet. Once it becomes available, You can access the full theme. Changelog in second post. LINK TO THE ORIGINAL POST
*Quick Note: I will only continue to update this theme if people respond and offer their criticism, suggestions, and general thoughts. I can't do this alone, I need your help*
Also, the thanks button couldn't hurt at all

HOW TO FIX "ERROR INVALID_KEY" WITH FACEBOOK WIDGET
In order to get functionality from the Facebook widget back, as per THIS, you will need to uninstall the facebook app from your phone, then uninstall and reinstall LP sense ui app. From there, when you enter your credentials in the widget settings, it should work. After it is done synching and whatnot, you may reinstall Facebook app. It *should* work.
Step One
Now you will need to install LP Sense UI, provided at the bottom of this thread. THIS IS NOT THE PAID VERSION, IT IS THE REGULAR FREE VERSION, HOWEVER WIDGETS DO WORK.
You will need to set it up properly for it to work. Do the following:
From Homescreen:
Menu>Preferences>Sense Mod Configuration
Set Number of docks to "1"
Dock Background>Standard (be sure to press it, even though it is selected, or else it wont work properly)
Home button on app drawer "on"
Enable auto Rotation "off"
Click to collapse
That should be it for the launcher. You can set other things how you like, I usually use "Rotate 2" as my transition, it looks great with the theme
Menu>Preferences>Homescreen Settings>Transition Effect> "Rotate 2"
Click to collapse
Step Two
You will need to purchase "WidgetLocker" from the market https://market.android.com/details?id=com.teslacoilsw.widgetlocker
It is $1.99 USD, but it is worth it, it is helpful for many other themes and is great as a lockscreen in general.
be sure to open WidgetLocker from the app drawer to open it in edit or "Tool" mode.
FROM "TOOL MODE:"
Menu>Settings>Enable WidgetLocker
(Skip this if you don't have root) Menu>Settings>Advanced>Root Helper>Check All Boxes, set Autoswipe Pin/Password to "Auto"
Menu>Settings>Advanced>Check "Hide Notification Icon" and "Hide Interaction Warning"
Configure the rest how you prefer.
Click to collapse
While you are in tool mode, long press every app, slider and widget and drag it to the trash bin at the bottom of the screen. Then do this:
Menu>Add>Custom Slider
Select "Sense" from the box directly underneath the picture of the slider.
Save.
You will need to long press the slider and drag it all the way to the bottom of the screen, being careful not to put it in the trash bin (or else you'd have to make a new slider )
Click to collapse
Step Three
Install any of the clocks in from the included "clocks" folder found under "apps"
Should you install the flipclock app, be warned:
NOTE: THIS CLOCK HAS NO FLIPPING ANIMATION. HOPEFULLY, I WILL BE ABLE TO MAKE ONE THAT DOES FLIP IN THE FUTURE, BUT NO GUARANTEES. I WOULD NEED A LOT OF HELP.
Step Six
In order to get the toggle widgets, such as wifi, bluetooth, gps, vibrate, silence, etc. you need to Purchase Beautiful Widgets from the Market https://market.android.com/details?id=com.levelup.beautifulwidgets&feature=search_result
I have included a brightness control and battery indicator themed to look Sense-esque. They are at the bottom of the Post.
FOR THE BATTERY INDICATOR:
1. Apply Widget to Homescreen
2. Tap on it
3. Select the "Preferences" tab in the top right corner.
4. Check every single box, especially Swap Low/High res. You can select the temperature unit of your choice.
Click to collapse
Alright Guys, have fun with this, Feel free to thank me if this helped you at all. screen shots will be posted in The Second Post.

You could get root access by using gingerbreak method, then get a custom recovery, I believe clockworkmod is available for the triumph. If you got ahold of the files you might be able to flash it via recovery, by I'm just taking stabs in the dark. *Not responsible for any damage that happens*

I'm more than a little nervous to apply the status bar hack, mostly because what I've read makes it sound like an awfully involved process that could include either (de) odexing every file on my phone's system partition, or else crashing my phone. So if this works, I will be amazed.

My phone has rejected the stock de-odexed ROM. Repeatedly Although I also haven't tried any others (so don't lose hope yet?)
Is a de-odexing required to make a theme? (Can an odexed version work instead?) Guess I forgot the stuff I was researching... Otherwise I would probably be clever enough to make the status bar text white.

Yes, the theme is universal for the most part. The only thing that wouldn't work in theory is the status bar theme. That requires CM7, which if you have on your Optimus V would work fine. I developed this theme on an optimus v, if that means anything lol
thanks B) but where is the factorywidgets themes?

I haven't worked on this theme in ages. They should be included in the .zip file, if not, just Google "adw sense launcher" and the guy who made that launcher also made the clock themes.

iida home launcher!

You need to put:
Iida*apk (except: Mail doesn't work outside Japan, Twitcheck doesn't deodex correctly)
WidgetHome.apk
Maintenance.apk (Calendar didn't appear to me until I added this one)
on /system/app with root explorer and fix permissions (change top row to x x x)
here is the file dump where you get the apks:
http://zen.itram.es/app_infobar_deodexed.zip
and here is a vid of it in action!
Works perfectly, though the beeping when you press something can get annoying
Cant get it to work like the video, it also fc's if i slide right.
weird it works fine for me, no fc
how did you get all the icons on the screen ? also which maintence apk do i install as there are a few ?

the one that is only maintenance.apk, nothing else
The icons were already there. you don't have to install anything, just push it all to system/app
fix permissions, and reboot
done that, fixed permissions, and rebooted i still only get a blank screen , hmmmm not sure where ie gone wrong.
Wat is Basis Rom for this Launcher??

hey the rom is a cm7 derivative if I'm not mistaken.
It comes off of one of the iida phones.
The launcher should work on any rom though
interesting UI, reminds me of windows phone, touch looks a little unresponsive but i've never seen that phone before.
maybe our devs can create a rom with it and add tweaks.
Do This Wipe Data ? Or It Just A Launcher ?

just mute the media sound.bip stopps then
Thanks Scooby, It's really interesting, Gonna keep it for a while
For disabling those annoying beeps no need to decompile & recompile
Just open iidahome.apk with 7zip or something & go to /res/raw & delete those two .wav files & you're done
Will this work on a MPDI device?

Hi there,
I would like to present to You Iidia Launcher which is a launcher from japanese phone Infobar A01. This is the video that shows how it looks:
Instalation and download link:
Here is the CWM package that I made with Launcher and its widgets just instal it via CWM (I tested it on i9000 and i9100 but it should work on ANY phone):
http://www.multiupload.com/TH7VSEACRU
In order to uninstall it just remove all "Iidia....apk" from /system/app
There are now two themes for this launcher avaiable in here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...5&postcount=74
What is working:
-Launcher it self
-Weather Widget but it shows only weather for Japan
-Clock Widget
-RSS Widget
-Memo Widget
-Photo Frame Widget
-Calendar Widget
What is not working:
-E-Mail Widget
-Phone Widget
-All widgets not related to launcher
-Launcher sounds can be silenced only with other media sounds
-Other stuff I did not find
Developement:
Currently I can not work on this to make it more usable (i don't have time and I don't really now how) so
anyone who can and knows how to is welcome to work on this.
Things that needs to be done are:
-Fixing not working Iidia Widgets
-Adding the ability to add other widgets
-Making it more customizable
-Adding more languages support (Only English and Japanese now)
-Other ideas?

a really nice idea! good work.
but would it be possible to create a seperate SMS/MMS app?
the installation-process would be less complicated.

Why you want to have separate apps?
It's just like a stock message app, but with moddify stuff.
You can receive sms/mms in this one app and you have just to replace one file and change perrmision.
best regards!

yes, i know. but some users do not have a rooted phone. that's why i suggested it.
just tried your work. really good! nice and easy to use and still runs smooth like butter.
one question though: is it possible to remove the avatars in the conversation list? i do not have any pictures so i do not use this feature...

You are talking about turn off showed avatars in window where you write a message to somebody?
If yes go to message>menu>settings>mms theme settings>messaging style > "SHOW CONTACT AVATAR", tick off
ok this seems great, but how is it diff than the one in cm 10.1/sourcery/aokp/and other roms?

I'm a flashoholic of new rom and I first saw this app in oen rom so I decided to extracted the app and shere with You.
I don't see anywhere a lot of options in settings like in this app.
I've tried a AOKP cm10 rom, but I didn't see mms app like this.
Is it possible to keep the lines between sms messages like in the default messages? I tried all the bubble frame options, but none of them is just as simple line to keep the messages seperated.
Very nice modifications, thanks! :good:
Could you add a few more things to it? Like:
- Increase the maximum lines of the textfield from 3 lines to something higher, so we can see more lines of the text we are currently writing without scrolling around that much. Would be nice if it was possible to change the number of those lines in the settings.
- Just a little "beauty" issue: When using the "bubble arrow side" setting, is it possible that the peak of the bubble is on top, so it comes from the avatar instead of being all the way down at the bottom, which is kinda "unlucky" when having longer messages (like 2+ sms messages sent as one...for example a message with like 400 characters for example)?

I can't edit it, becouse I've just share this app to You, sorry.
Help from me:
#1 If You want to see more lines of text during You write something I think You have just to decrease the size of font in mms.apk. I don't remmember if this option is include in mms.apk options, but You can use this : Xposed modifications framework installer: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1574401
and then download and install this :http://www.villainrom.co.uk/forum/microdownloads/xposed-app-settings.5/viewfile
Short download linkhttp://www.villainrom.co.uk/forum/microdownloads/app-settings.5/download by this You can manually change a options invidualy to each apk, include options to change size of font.
For this moment I don't know other solution.
#2 What DPI you have? I have 160 and all are beauty for me. ;]
If You want check this: MMS.apk from AOKP JB-MR1 build 6
http://rootzwiki.com/topic/38330-422-inverted-mms-with-outlines-updated-32713/ download apk and remember to change name to MMS.apk
Thank you
OP, thank you, thank you so much for posting this. I have been looking for something like this for forever, if I could sell you my soul.. I would!
Hi,
I'm running a modified version of JB 4.1.2 for a Wiko phone, and I can't get this app to work.
I kinda tried everything, and I always got that the app "has stopped". I also tried with the stock app from cyanogen 10.1, same result.
Could give me a hand on what to do to make it work ?
thx

Have You give all correct permission? Rw-r-r?
If not , It's seems to be a incompatible rom with apk. I don't really remember if it's working with 4.1.2,because for a long time I use 4.2.x. cm 10.1 rom from which one You want to take a mms.apk is for sure a incompatible apk, it is just for 4.2.x.
I love your sms app, just missing chathead mod and all will be perfect
Thank you
I love this apk. But why am I getting forced close? I changed permissions.
Freaking awesome! Nice find! Works like a charm.
