I was a bit annoyed by the addition of the "last updated" line in the Asus Weather widget included in the 3.2 update. I thought it was ugly and provided a bit too much information to the widget. Since there wasn't an option to switch it off, I disabled it from being displayed. I also edited the widget layout files to create another version with smaller text. A screenshot is attached that shows the original (top) and the modified (bottom) Weather widgets. The second screenshot shows the original (top), modified (bottom left), and modified & resized (bottom right).
Root access is not required as the modified Weather widget is not a system application and can coexist with the original Weather widget. The ModWeather.apk installs like any other application and does not replace the original Weather widget. After installing the widget, I found a reboot necessary to get the widget to appear in the list.
I have received confirmation that it works without root.
Update: I received reports of these modified widgets not working for some. Upon investigation, I believe I found the source of the problem and have corrected it. I also rebuilt the modified widgets using the stock widget from a system dump of build 8.6.15.13. If you installed these modified widgets prior to October 7th 2011, you may want to install the updated version(s). I updated the version number to 1.0.2 to facilitate upgrading from the previous 1.0 version.
Update 2: With the release of ICS, Asus included the ability to resize the Weather widget to 1x1, 4x3, or 4x4. The 4x4 variant includes a daily forecast. I have been working on a resized variant w/ the 'last updated' text removed. While it is still a work in progress, the latest revision can be found here.
Feel free to let me know whether it works or not for you and don't be afraid to press that little thanks button below.

There have been several inquiries related to the battery widget in the screenshots. It is actually a widget that I created for my own use and has nowhere near the features of some of the other offerings. My Transformer is my first real exposure to Android, so I wanted to write my own to get a better understanding of Android application development. I also wanted to use images that complemented the Asus Weather and Date widgets. I am providing this widget as is and cannot guarantee any further development and/or improvements. However, feedback is always appreciated.
Battery widget updated to version 1.1.0 on August 16th 2011.

dual battery widget, available in marketplce
Thanks, works great.
Can't confirm the root not required part, since I rooted a couple days ago.
Downloading using TF stock browser didn't want to to work. Using XDA app did. Weird.
Mine required reboot for widget to be available.
Thanks again.

I'm not committing to do the work just yet, but I would like to have a better understanding of your request.

OP, I have been waiting for something that allows me to re-size this widget since the first time I saw it. I downloaded both apks but for some reason neither of them allows me to click install. I can scroll the list of permissions, I can click the "more" button and I can click the "cancel" button. I just can't click "install". Any ideas on what may be causing that?
I am not rooted, btw. Hopefully I can get this to work for me. Thanks.

It's good so far but the battery icon is off center for the percentage number in CM 5.0.6. It sits off to the right. Obviously it can be turned off but I like it and it's only a small adjustment needed I think to have the text in the middle, which would look awesome.

Also, I prefer the version of helix launcher 2 with the launcher button in the middle. I think this was changed back in the most recent one. This is a personal preference though so I don't expect you to change it just for me

First of all, I love it.
But I wish that it supported the 5-icon rows in the app launcher. Also, how do I turn off the battery percentage in the battery icon? And lastly, why do the pictures have the droid guy in the center but the download doesn't? I am using the clear status bar.

UPDATED!
Yea, the android guy was there, just off to the side and I was wondering why that differed from the pictures. Also, is there anyway to make the 5 row launcher or is there another one that has that option? I know CM has it.
EDIT: Also, I am about to download the newest update. But if it hasn't changed, is there any way to change the color of the name of the folder, the word that is in the top that you long press to rename a folder.
This is the only thing that I've been missing since moving from a Sense ROM/launcher.
Does a nice scrollable widget exist that's similar to the stock Friendstream one?
EDIT: I've tried out Socialite, but it seems to never sync properly and eventually force closes on the CyanogenMod nightly builds.
I miss it too.

EDIT: I was just too tired to realize what I was doing incorrectly. Trying to get a widget setup that looks decent.
All of the different variants of the Sense style widgets look really "off" for some reason. Looking further, it's definitely the pictures, as they trail a bit off the left side of the widget. (See pic)
I'm also not fond of the left/right arrows on the widget. I only set up FB, so I don't need non-working buttons.

Use the scrollable version with ADW/LauncherPro. It is better than FriendStream.
Like so:
Nice setup TheBiles.
PureMessenger > friendstream with the ability to use skins, add email and sms along with twitter and FB to stream, ability to select preferred clients for clicked feed, and oodles of config settings in a nice scrollable UI with ADW or launcherPRO. Well worth a buck-fifty.
I wouldn't consider Pure messenger better than Friendstream myself.
It's nice... but sadly needs a few fixes in my opinion
1) Won't display 'mobile upload' picture notifications properly. It only shows 1 picture in the internal viewer with no way to go directly to the person's photo list.
2) Pictures display as filenames in the list view, rather than the actual thumbnail as sense does. (This might be considered user preference, but I'd prefer to see a picture rather than <randomwords>.jpg )
3) No support for built in HTC applications for Facebook nor Twitter (aka peep). While the internal viewer can be dismissed in favor of a real 'app', the selection is limited to bout 3-6 apps none of which are the built in parts of HTC's rom. (Of course if you're not using HTC roms then this isn't problem
Overall it's a great app, and the best out there I've seen, don't get me wrong.. but Friendstream still has the edge in actual functionality for basic use. Sure, No themes, lack of customization hurt, but when it comes down to using the product for what it's intended for (Keeping up with posts/photos from your friends) it has a few issues IMO.

Overall it seems "ok" but lacking in some ways as well. You can't post directly from the widget, which is a huge strike against it. I want the widget so I don't have to clutter my homescreens with redundant apps.
Guess I accidentally went past my 24 hours so I am the proud owner, or some such thing.

I'm using the scrollable widget currently, and like I said, it's neat to watch updates, but it's a killer that I don't see an obvious way to post anything to FB/Twitter through the widget, instead I'm forced to use the app.
It just feels "clunky" for lack of a better term.
I will say that the widgets can be set up to look better, it just seems that some of the skins are definitely not ones any OCD person would want to use.

It's Launcher Pro. I'm using the Froyo wide dock (in settings) and just setting up normal apps and using the Launcher Pro icons for them.

Erm. You just click that little star, and select "update status." You never have to open the official apps. You can also click that little arrow and select "open Facebook" so you don't ever need an icon on the screen in the first place.

That's Extended Controls. The second icon is the Froyo hotspot toggle, but it does have a 4G toggle option. I just don't have it on there because 4G doesn't work with CyanogenMod at the moment.

Well crap, it looks as though I'd always been fat-fingering the arrow and only saw the "open Facebook" link in there.
I recant my previous statements and accept that this is a damn fine alternative to Friendstream. (after a little getting used to)
The only issue that I have with Pure Messenger is this: When a FB contact posts something on someones' wall it doesn't show who the other person is, even if the other person is one of your contacts it doesn't show.
Got socialite running on newest cyanogen nightly. Its pretty nice really, I actually like it better than friend stream.
Hi there,
I was very impressed of the (original) Hub Layout from this Thread.
But after installing a new ROM I was depressed to redo the whole process over and over with every full wipe again.
Therefore the idea was born to implement the whole idea in ONE Widget and not so many single Widgets. (Note that my implementation is based on the layout done with Launcher actions and Minimalistic Text Widget.)
I started to develop and presented it already in a german android board but now time has come to show you my work.
Hubs Widget 0.5
Current Features:
One configurable widget for all hubs
Horizontal Widget
Global configuration for colors, text etc.
Configurable number of hubs
Direct click for goto page for Nova Launcher jumpto action (no overlapping of widgets anymore!)
At the moment a fixed proportion active/inactive hub of 3/2 (good to know when using the overlap approach)
Issues:
Widget size not properly defined (need some assistance eventually), but can be resized
Sometimes crashes when choosing number of hubs (under investigation)
you tell me...
Planned Features:
configurable fonts (tricky, size and color will come definately)
configurable active/inactive hub proportion
contact ADW and Apex devs to implement direct widget clicking for them too (if already possible via intent to go to a specific screen please let me know)
you tell me...
Download
Version 0.5
Version 0.4
Addon
Transparent Icon theme (for "goto screen" icons) for Apex Launcher
ApexTransparentActionsIconPack1.0
(ADW in progress, help is welcome)
Your feedback and questions are welcome. I will definately work on this in the future until I am satisfied but I cannot tell you how fast the future releases will come.
Regards
David

Oh wow, finally some feedback. I was planning to release it in the market, but in the last weeks I had no time to develop.
At the moment I have a version on my tablet that does everything I want therefore I will only look into more features if there is spare time or some request. I will build the actual version an update this thread in a few minutes, so you can try the new version if you want (it has direct support for Nova Launcher without using some buttons underneath the widget as well as an horizontal version) edit: ok just saw I published the nova version already here. so just horizontal widget in the new version. But if you have any other request I can eventually do it for you.
Thank you for your feedback!
oh my god, always miss this.i really liked the hubs on my previous tablets, but after honeycomb days i stopped use them due to the loss on rom flash..and i flash roms so often that i decided to not do hubs anymore.
Now it seems you did a great job,i want to try this tomorrow and sure i'll post here my impression.thanks for this,a very good idea\potential
Apex support would be my main request atm, but I am guessing that is more in their hands than yours? Would rather not have to use Nova since I bought and set up Apex exactly how I like.
I notice horizontal support was added to the OP since I tried out 0.4 last night, that was my only other request! Don't have my tablet on me atm but other than the resizing issue this seems pretty well ideal for release.
You should definitely spread the word on the individual forums for each tablet because I only came across this thread through google.

Yes the Apex thing is more on their side. I will look into it again and check if it works in the current version or ask them to integrate a possibility like nova did.
I thought it a bit odd to advertise my own app in so many threads about hubs.. But you are right, I should do it to spread the word.
you need to explain a little the use of this. I have Nova installed, but.. no idea how to use.
I just get a widget on the screen, I cannot click on any button (nothing happens)
EDIT: Got it! just being stupid and not reading the initial thread.
EDIT2: I think there is an error: I have set up 5 or 7 screens, and the second button takes me to the third, the third to the forth and so on....
EDIT3: I actually works with 5. So I have no idea if the problem is hubs widget or multiple live screen wallpaper or either the launcher. Maybe somebody else can investigate (I am using Nova, as I mentioned).

Will look into it at the weekend (no time today, sorry). Should be an error on my side. I tested only with 5.
there is one more thing. at the moment, you can practically have one widget. I mean, if I want one widget that shows something and the second to show something else, it is not possible (for example, in the Entertainment hub, from the entertainment 'box' there is another Hub widget, that has different names (categories)).
Hi,
I could solve the problem with more than 5 screens when temporarily assigning a different screennumber to each hub that links to the wrong screen. But i had not the time to fix it in the code.
The other thing, yes actually all widgets have the same layout. I should possibly allow hub groups or something. I will work on it for future versions.

Hey Guys,
I've got good and bad news.
Bad news is, ther won't be an update for some time now. Good news is, I have some great ideas that I want to implement which will offer a lot more flexibility in the look of the widgets. However I have to almost completely rewrite the code to make it work this way. I don't know how long it will take and how my time for this will be in the future. But there will be some great updates in the future.
Thanks
David

I took the 4.2.2 alarm clock from arman68 modular rom and modified it to better fit 4.1 Style.
What I did:
- red bold "all caps" headlines changed to white non bold not "all caps"
- everything else that was red is now holo blue
I also tried to get rid of the ugly bold/slim design of the clock fonts. But that isn't so easy as it seems to be and therefore I failed. Maybe in a future update...
Tools used for my modding activities:
- Virtuous Ten Studio
- ImageMagick (command line image manipulation)
- win-bash (UNIX Bash Shell for Windows)
- Greenfish Icon Editor Pro
- WinMerge
- Notepad++
- my brain
Changelog:.
v1.1: Background is now black. City names in city selection list are now smaller. not condensed and not "all caps". Managed to make the hour digits a lot thinner on desk clock and alarm screens. Unfortunately they are still a little bolder than the minutes. Seems to be impossible to obtain the same font for hours an minutes by xml editing.
v1.1.1: Added "UTC" timezone. "Ho-Chi-Minh-Stadt" had a double entry in German. Corrected that, one entry is now "Saigon".
v1.2: Reverted the grey gradient on the actionbars on main clock screen to what it originally was - a pure transparency gradient. Actionbars on settings, cities list and alarmclock are now standard holo style with app icon (removed the blue divider line on alarmclock screen, because it doesn't look nice there). Changed the locations icon on the world clock screen to the globe icon from deskclock 4.4

Good job.
I actually like the red and bold/caps heading; this is the way google designed it. But I understand everyone has different choices, and your changes do fit well in the holo design.
To tell you the truth: I have little love for the holo blue. Do you know that the colour blue causes the body to release hormones that keep us awake? Not so good for when using the phone in the evening or at night.
If it was up to me, I would have themed the whole JB interface with the holo orange. For reference, here are the standard holo colours:

No, the digital clock widget has been completely removed by arman68. I've read that backporting the digital widget would mean a rewrite of larger parts of its code because it uses some 4.2 specific system calls with no substitute on 4.1
Here is a test version for Brazilian JB ROM.
Please report if it's working.
Don't forget to backup before trying.

My System version is 982.50.29.XT890.Brasil.en.BR
Android Stock 4.1.2
Language: Brazilian Portuguese
DeskClock version 1.2
It’s running properly, the texts are just fine.
There’s only one issue, when you start the stopwatch and alternate to other application, the status bar shows the Stopwatch notification (that it is running in background) but the time is above the Stopwatch icon.
This don’t happen to the countdown.
I’ve attached two screenshots to show exactly how it is.
Anyway, I loved this mod, I couldn’t believe when I realized that RAZR I didn’t have a countdown and a stopwatch, I came from a Defy and it has at least the countdown.
Thanks a lot hypophysis!!!

Hey man! I have exactly the same version as yours, and my bootloader is locked and the phone rooted. I'd like to know step by step how to install this mod. I've been craving for a clock app with stopwatch and timer...I don't understand why JB 4.1 doesn't have it. I use a third-party app to do the job, but a native one is MUCH better.
I would really appreciate if you could help me with that!
Thanks in advance

Sure!
There’s no secret to make it work!
I've used Root Explorer to do the job, so you gonna need it.
1) Download the DeskClock version 1.2, I've tried the 1.1.1 Brazilian version and it didn't work;
2) Make a backup of your Deskclock and the ODEX file;
3) Delete the files Deskclock.apk and the ODEX file;
4) Copy the new Deskclock to the System APP folder (root/system/app);
5) Set permissions to 644, in case of doubt you can check the permissions in any other file inside this folder, all Apps should be set with this permission.
6) Reboot your phone, I used the way shutdown and turn on, but you can do it with Terminal emulator without any problems too
7) Enjoy your new Clock with Stopwatch and countdown.
I’m using it since last week, no problem was found in the Alarm, Countdown and Stopwatch, the only issue is that I’ve mentioned before.
I hope to help you.
If you need anything else just ask me, I’ll be glad to help.

What kind of problem happen?
Did you get a FC?
I did everything that I wrote and for me it worked.
The permissions are really important, if you forget or put something else it will not work.
Remeber that the ODEX have to be deleted, otherwise it will not work.
Try again and make sure to download the version 1.2.

No, I didn't get FC. The app disappeared from the drawer, so I can't access the settings for the alarms and so on. I did exactly as you told me, including the permissions. I copied both the APK and the ODEX original files to a safe place, but when I rebooted the phone and couldn't access the clock no more, I copied the original files back to system/app and rebooted again. This didn't work as well...it seems I lost the original app funcionality forever...To remedy this I installed Alarm Klock from google play, a nice, simple and useful alarm app.. This doesn't really solve the problem though, because this app doesn't have stopwatch and timer.
This version I tried to install is the 1.2 ...maybe I should try the 1.1.1 BR...
Installed 1.2 over br stock ROM, works fine!

Hi there!
Check out my new app
Google Play ID
play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.fossor.wheellauncher
Wheel Launcher is a side panel that sits on top of everything on your device. Wheel Launcher does not interfere with your main launcher, but provides a fast way to reach your favorite apps and shortcuts - just press the semitransparent icon. You can hide the icon by dragging it off the screen. Wheel Launcher allows you to add any shortcut that is provided by your apps, like direct dial any of your contacts or settings shortcut, like battery, sound, Wi-Fi and so on.
Wheel Launcher is in early stages of it's development, so if you have anything to ask, suggest or if you found a bug - do not hesitate to drop me an email.
Features
• Fancy circle design
• Basic shortcuts to some common apps - dial, gallery, email, messaging, camera, drawer
• Support for any app on your device
• Support for any shortcut on your device
• Theme support, not much at this point, but there will be more
• Left/Right sided
I will appreciate, if someone with 4.3 - 4.4 can send me a crash report. :fingers-crossed: Those emulators can't be trusted.
Doesn't crash on 4.4.2
Crashed 4.1.2

Ok I just updated from play store and it's fixed now. Thanks! You've done a great job. It's a really useful and good looking app.
But I'm short on memory and this takes around 30MB of RAM so it's just a luxury I can't keep
But anyone with good amount of memory go for this app

Thanx man! Are you on xxhdpi, cause on my xhdpi the app takes 17MB when it's closed.
There could be more crashes, cause someone said the app wont even start for him. So if someone experiencing the same, i would love to see the log. :cyclops:

Ok since you mentioned 17 MB I gave it another try. And yes without any theme on it's 16/17 MB on xhdpi. Last night I used it with the black theme on so it spiked to 30 MB.
And I already have a Sidebar which takes around 15MB and it serves me well.. So don't get me wrong your app is beautiful and very cool, but I hate the memory constrains I have to deal with
But I'm glad I helped you fix a bug with the log.
Hope people love your app like I did. Regards
It's not crashing on 4.4.2 for me. Great job!
Made some bug fixes and new theme available:
play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.fossor.wheellauncher.androidwhitetheme
Full version with folder support and unlimited number of items is available
Two major updates
1. Added a new white theme.
2. You can now change the position of an item on the main wheel and inside folders
Suggestions
First, just wanted to say that I really like the look of this. Running this on AICP 4.4.2 on a HTC One. Couple of quick suggestions/questions: First, is there a way to turn this on/off and/or a setting to enable on boot? Is there a way to change the position/size of the trigger area?
On a side note, I've used an app called circle launcher (pretty much since it was first released) as a widget on my homescreen to launch my most used apps (about 15 or so). I've really like this because with the launcher icon being transparent, it provides an easy way to launch apps without messing with my layout (no matter what layout i'm using). Have you considered creating this as a widget and/or being able to launch this as a short cut? I could see maybe using this as a custom nav bar button or something similar.

Hi there, thanx and I glad you like it. You can hide the icon by dragging it off screen or by pressing "hide" button on the notification (the app will return when you unlock the device or press "show"). Currently there is no autostart after boot, but it is on the to do list. There is no size changes on the trigger area, but you can change the position by dragging it up or down (it is always floating) and/or by changing side (left or right)
As for a fully transparent trigger area - I saw a lot of feedback (on other similar apps) when users wanted to have a visual representation of this area, so I made it with a flag icon. If there will be more requests to make trigger area fully transparent, perhaps i will add this option too.
And here is some video:
youtube.com/watch?v=uIWDlf1Dai8
New update on both versions:
You can now change icons on a main wheel. Supports most of the icon packs.
Another update:
Trigger now can be set as a rectangular shape in addition to the icon. It can be of any size, color and opacity, up to fully transparent.
