[Q] Z715e with Virgin Mobile - HTC Sensation

Hey guys,
I've been having issues with getting my Sensation XE working with Virgin Mobile, coming over from Wind. At the time I was running DarkSense 1.3.2, S-Off'd, rooted, whole nines and never had any problems with Wind. Then I registered a Virgin Mobile SIM, slapped it in the phone and haven't had any luck; I could see the "VIRGIN" network, but got a "SIM will not allow a connection to this network" error (even though the SIM is registered with Virgin Mobile, account and all. Flashing Bell radios, factory resets, nothing seems to work at all. At this point I've put KANG - 4.2.2 on the phone and any JB build is giving me an "Error while searching for networks" notice when I go to manually select a network.
HBOOT - 1.29.0000
RADIO - 11.24A.3504.31_M
Firmware - Sure it's 3.33.xxx (updated it in the custom ROM process)
Can somebody recommend a configuration that'll work for Virgin Mobile? I've been struggling with this for the past day or so and won't have a working number until I sort this out. I know it's not a hardware/frequency issue, being a Z715e, but I'm sure there's some kernel/radio issue at hand that's choking the phone.
Thanks in advance!

[Q] Radio messing up after ROM upgrade?

Yesterday I finally received my Inspire. When I bought it it was reported to be unlocked, but I found out it was also rooted and radio S-OFF.
As my carrier recently released a new 4G GSM network alog with their veteran 3G CDMA network, I went migrate my account to a SIM card with my line and put it in the phone. Everything worked fine, HSDPA speeds OK, HSUPA slow (no fix yet on the phone).
Then I decided to install LeeDroid on it, the ROM is awesome, but somehow it wouldn't connect to the carrier anymore (that means, no voice, no data, some eventual GPRS connections). I restored my nand backup but it was still the same.
In the evening, I decided to flash another radio (12.54.60.2SU_26.09.04.11_M2) instead of the AT&T stock version. For this to be a fast process I had to ENG S-OFF (didn't want to mess with other methods).
Immediately the phone found strong, stable signal. I reinstalled LeeDroid and now it works as a charm, HSUPA is even faster than HSDPA (probably due to network traffic) and I'm very pleased.
My big question is: I have had many Android phones (and many Windows Mobile HTC) and I never have seen a ROM messing up with the radio, I don't even believe it's possible. So, what happened?
My only explanation is that the Ebay seller I bought the phone from messed up with something and managed to get the phone working and then sold it before it failed again.
Any thoughts about this?
What you've been through isn't normal, so something must have been messed up with your phone. You never know what a phone off of eBay has been through. Maybe it hadn't been rooted properly or something else was done incorrectly. Normally, any custom Inspire ROM works with any version of Inspire/DesireHD radio. Some radio versions work better than others, but I've never seen an instance of what happened to you with your first LeeDroid install where the data/voice connection was totally dead. What version of radio did your phone come with? It should of been either 26.06.06.30 or 26.06.04.06 - if it came with anything else then the radio had been messed with.
The good news is now that everything is working, you should be free to flash whatever ROM you want with no worry of that weird connection problem happening again. Flashing ROMs on the Inspire (except for the RUU's) doesn't mess with the radio at all, it is a separate deal. But if you continue having weird problems, I suggest flashing the rooted stock RUU from this thread and starting fresh from there.
OK, thank you.
It came with 26.06.06.30, and it's really weird, I have never had this kind of issues.
I'm really not new to android (have had a few CDMA Android phones) and now I'm switching to GSM, but I was really confident that apart from the unbranding process both phones should behave really similar.
Will see how it evolves, for now I'm really enjoying 4G speeds.
Yep, you should be fine. HenryBravo is giving good info. Some radio\ROM combinations work better than others. Depends on the ROM. That's why some chefs have a recomended radio and others do not. Good luck with your new phone.

No signal help!!

Hi Everyone
I was running the newest version of Insertcoin (2.2.6) it was running just great, last night I installed Superlite v1.3 and once I got it up and running I attempted to disable Mobile Network (as it it the number one killer of the battery for me) and now I cannot get ANY mobile signal whatsoever, not voice and not data....it is almost as if the SIM card I have in does not work any longer. I have tried rebooting, swapping roms (as I am using Boot Manager), reinstalling stock 2.3.4 from TMO, and still NO SIGNAL.....
My only salvation is wifi calling, and I cant be in the office or the house all day..
please help ASAP!
thanks
someone please help, i have used an RUU and downgraded and everything and no matter what I do everything BUT the radio works (i have wifi and such but no signal) and when i go to the extended settings menu, it just shows mobile network off and I cant turn it on....
Well, if you run RUU and it didn't fix it, it is not software related. Radio works as wifi works, unlikely to be hardware failure. I say it's your sim or network. My steps would be, reinsert sim, if it doesn't help, call your network and ask about any failures in your area, if there aren't any, request new sim card (testing different network sim first sounds like a good idea).
its really funky, but i just cant turn on mobile network...when wifi is on the mobile network box is checked, but the second i turn off wifi it fights to turn on the mobile network and never does....
i have tried to update the radio as well now and it still didnt do anything!
Have you tried what i said above?
If you remove the cover when the phone is on, you could damage the hardware.
The probability of this is very, very small, but still has.
Use code *#*#4336#*#* i think restart radio and you are ready.sorry for bad english it is work for me
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e using XDA App
*#*#4636#*#* type in dialer. Go to phone. Scroll down and turn radio off and back on again and see if that solves your issue

Have you tried ARHD ROM yet ? There's a Super Wipe, use that to wipe off everything and install ARHD 3.0.3. Looks like Superlite messed it since that was the last app installed. But I doubt.
Get another cellphone and slot in yr sim card to see if it works first.

[HELP] No 3g signal since official update

First I will state that after 4+ hours spent in front of google I haven't found any similar issue. Today the One S offered me to install the android "jelly bean" update. After the update the phone worked normally, except for the fact I was continually getting disconnected from the network. Now I have no signal at all (no internet and no calls). After swapping the sim card for sim cards of different carriers (phone is not sim-locked), I noticed I was getting only 2G signal, 3G networks don't show up.
Probably that's why I get no signal on my original carrier since it only provides 3G signal. As a last resort I rooted the phone and installed Cyanogenmod 10 thinking it would somehow help. Maybe the problem is with the antenna? Even if the phone was fine before updating?
Phone specs:
-HTC one S (S4)
-Baseband: 1.08ts.50.02.16_10.08e.50.04L
-Kernel version: 3.0.51-geb1844c
-Carrier IL Pelephone (Originally from Vodafone)

Now that you have CM10 installed (or a CM10 base ROM, I would suggest JellyBam), you should go to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1998270 and try flashing different baseband radios. You should be able to flash different radios on CM10 regardless of your hboot version or whether you got a recent OTA update. If you are having signal problems, it doesnt hurt to test out different radios to see if in fact it is a software problem.
No success. Tried all radios with same results. Sometimes the phone will connect to the network for a minute or two and then disconnect. Also does somebody know how to switch the baseband frequencies on the One S? I tried the DEFY but it always threw an error.
Come on! Nothing left to do? I will just trash the phone because htc don't know how to update thier phone without completely screwing it up? I have no use for a 4G phone that only runs on 2G networks.

You say it's HTC fault although nothing happened to me. Sometimes hardware comes with defects and you were unlucky enough to have one. And btw one s hasn't gotten a jelly bean update yet. If it's only 30MBs It's not jb

Probably, but it worked fine before the update. I know it wasn't a jellybean update, just changed a bit the menus. It's just a shame that I have to throw the phone away like this, it was a nice upgrade to the iphone 4.

Data not working

Hi all, i have some problems with my sensation: my internet connection works only over wi-fi. When i enable data it doesn't happen anything: in the status bar i don't see the H or the 3G icon and i can't connect. I tried everything but i can't find a solution. I'm using the last build of albinoman's rom and the latest sultan kernel. Anyway i don't think it's kernel or rom related because i went back to stock 3.33 firmware and ruu and mobile connection didn't work either. Can someone help me?

So let me get this straight....your mobile data isn't working on either Albino's CM10.1 ROM or a stock Sense ROM. Is that correct?
Do phone calls work? If they do this isn't a hardware problem because the calls and data use the same hardware. So that's good news.
If all the above is true there are still a couple simple things to try.
First off when you did an RUU was the RUU for Itally or Europe or whatever the geographical region for your phone woudl be? If you RUU'ed back to the North American varient for example and you are in Italy it wouldn't have the correct APN's. So jus tmaking sure of that.
Second, check the APN's (Settings->data (Might have to hit MORE under the data)->mobile netwoks. Access point names). Make sure the APN's are set to whatever they are supposed to be for your carrier. A simple google search should tell you what the APN's are supposed to be.
If that APN is messed up, mobile data won't work.
Third, has this been going on fro a while? Or is this just like a day or two? It's always possible that the problem is with your carrier. It never hurts to call them up and make sure their mobile data network isn't down. It coudld also be a problem with your account. I once fought with my phone for 2 days about the same thing only to find that my carrier had accidentaly removed my data plan from my account. A 2 minute phone call and it was fixed. You can check this yourself by putting your SIM card in any other phone and see if data works on that device.
If none of thsoe work come back with as much detail as possible.
Phone calls work so it's not an hardware issue. Besides when i flashed the 3.33 ruu it was european and the apn is set correctly. I don't know if the problem is that i changed carrier a three days ago. I'll try to see if it's that the culprit

If you changed the carrier at the same time the problem appeared then that is almost certainly the answer. The next question is what to do to fix it.
You could have gotten a bad sim card, or didn't switch to their sim card. Or something relating to the sim card.
Are you sure the carrier has a network that is compatible with the Sensation's mobile data hardware?
Sent from your phone. You should be careful where you leave that thing.

[Q] Problem with 3G radio on HTC Doubleshot - uplink dead, downlink ok

I've been happily using an HTC MT4G Slide/Doubleshot I got on Ebay since December (I'm in Canada, using it with Wind Mobile, AWG 3G bands). Last Sunday my phone suddenly started showing "No Signal" for the cellular connection (wifi still works just fine), even though I had full signal bars, and I was unable to complete calls, even the *611 carrier service calls. With the Wifi turned off, I noticed I was still receiving emails, oddly enough, even though I could not register on my network. My SIM was working fine in other phones, and a SIM from another carrier (GSM 2G only) worked just fine. I tried a new SIM from my carrier, no luck, same thing.
I know AWS splits its up/downlinks between the 2 sets of bands it uses (1700MHz for up, 2100MHz for down), so I'm guessing something strange happened to selectively knock out the up bands only. But what? My phone is on EmmanuelU's KitKatDS 1.3, but the only unusual thing I could think of software wise was that I had recently updated Xposed framework to the latest version. I though maybe that did something weird to the baseband firmware, so I restored the original stock Gingerbread ROM via ClockworkMod - no change. I applied the available OTA updates from T-Mo - nothing. Re-flashed KitKatDS & restored by current set-up - nothing.
I'm completely stumped and seriously starting to worry it's some freak hardware thing. Anyone here ever experience something like this?
Thanks for any of your thoughts!
Never seen this myself before, check your apns would be my next step. Maybe try *#*#4636#*#* from the dialer and see if what it says there too. But mostly I'm stumped
