If you are making your own rom (and not being a winzip wizard) them you should know that it is controled by the framework files.

What do you mean ? I am a newbie actually. I made my rom based on a custom rom and follow the guide on this forum.
See the attachment.
How can I change the MindCr ROM to my own text ? I really don't know where to find it. What I know is how to edit those png files

You will have to decompile the jar files and edit the java code. As I stated in your other thread take some time and learn to make a rom properly. Mainly when you will be required to follow all the same rules that the devs are. New to this or not. Take some time and learn linux and then learn to build a rom the proper way.

I already have the basic knowledge. How am going to learn if I don't know. Asking is a way of learning too! I already good in decompiling and compiling and script editing. The problem is don't know which xml file should I edit. I can do basic programming. I did found out the directory of those icons but I don't know how to change the title text of the pop up menu that appear after I press the "restart" and "shutdown" button.
I almost finish my ROM already just left theming and that part only. For your information, I actually modified quite a number of apk files successfully based on Nero Young tutorial.

You learn by spending a few days searching. Trust me your not the first to ask this question. There are tons of TUT all over the site to help you learn how to make a rom. What you are missing to understand is that you have not really given any info like what style rom, for what device? These things matter as depending on device and rom then it is in different places. So I could tell you were it is in my rom (which i did) but it may not be there in your rom.

[Q] Help In the Kitchen

So I been playing with this and some help as some things I was able to manage to work and some not. Tried coping and pasting some of the files using root explorer as well some worked some didnt. I read that I needed the deodex rom to use kitchen so... I Flashed that with oden as well. Still the same problems occur. I really like to customize my phone but, it seems I can get some things to work right some not. If somone would be so kind to help me out get this straighten out I would HIGHLY appericate it. Im using the EP1W debloated rom with TW4 Launcher. Im missing a few widgets but, the only I really would like to get on there is the Feeds & Updates (preferly not pink header) which seems to be the only one around I can find. In the kitchen I was able to get the battery icon changed and with some copy paste I was able to change the boot animation. The Icons themselfs on the top like time, date etc... didnt take. Thanks in advance if someone can lend me there expertise.
Honestly, UOT I really only find useful for the battery icons. Yeah it can do other things, but its so much easier to just modify the files yourself. I use apk manager and it works great for me. Here is the thread for it http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1100696 My suggestion, if you want to modify the appearance of your phone is to do it manually via apk manager.

Its actually very easy. I'll help you out. Go on uot and go to the kitchen. Select all the tweaks/themes/icons/boot animations you want. When you are done go to the file upload tab. From here, open up your rom using winrar. Go to framework and drag and drop your framework-res.apk and twframework (something along that line, youll see it.) Then look for systemUI.apk. I think its under the app folder right when you open up your rom with winrar. After you got these files out of the rom then upload them to uot by clicking file upload and then click on system files. When this is done uploading click on summary and if everything is highlighted in green then your good to go, submit the work to the kitchen. It will give you a pickup number, copy that number and click on the pickup tab... From there, just wait for your order to come up. Download the file and flash in recovery. Profit? Yes. I hope this helps.
And if your rom is deodexed, then your good to go. Dont over think things, itll give you a headache.

[MOD/TUT]CRT Off Animation & SIP Over LTE/HSPA

I know there is already a CRT Off Animation flashable zip in this section, but if you already have a themed framework then it can be a pain in the a$$ trying to flash it over whatever you have. As for SIP over LTE/HSPA, I've seen a lot of requests from people on how to enable it, so here it is. I'm also making this kind of for myself, since I always search for tutorials on how to change things, but always just end up finding .zip files, which can get quite annoying if I only want to change one thing. In any case, here we go...
Prerequisites
Superuser (Duh)
Apk Manager by Daneshm90
ADB + Understanding How To Pull/Push Files (Need help? Read this!)
Patience
A Good Texteditor (I recommend Notepad++)
Know why "sudo rm -rf /" is always a bad idea
Steps To Follow
Pull your framework-res.apk file from your system folder
Place said framework-res.apk file into the "place-here-for-modding" folder included in the Apk-Manager Folder
Run the Script.bat file also included in the Apk-Manager Folder.
Run option 9 in the newly opened window (Don't use the dependency option)
Go back into the Apk-Manager Folder; there should now be a folder dubbed "projects".
Head into that folder and open framework-res/res/values/bools.xml with that good texteditor you're supposed to have if you read the prerequisites.
Don't be intimidated by some of the code you see. Ignore everything else in the file and head straight for/search "config_animateScreenLights". This controls the state of the CRT Off Animation.
This step may sound a little counter-intuitive, but in order to get the CRT Off to activate correctly, you need to set the boolean to "False".
Now that CRT Off Animation taken care off, we can move on to enabling SIP over HSPA/LTE. Go to/search for "config_sip_wifi_only" and set this boolean to false as well.
There are actually other things you can enable/disable in the bools.xml file, although I would not recommend poking around unless you know what you're doing. Example: Enable Menu Unlock by setting that specific bool (not entirely sure of its name) to true.
Save the bools.xml file, and return back to the main menu of Apk Manager.
Select option 11 and say y (system app) and then n (no need to retain anything)
If you head back to your "place-apk-here-for-modding" folder, there should be a new file named unsignedframwork-res.apk. Open this (DO NOT EXTRACT THE FILES) using a tool such as winrar or 7zip, and delete both the META-INF folder and the AndroidManifest.xml
Copy the META-INF and the AndroidManifest.xml from the original framework-res.apk and place it in the new unsignedframework-res.apk. Remember to not extract the files, just copy/paste.
Rename unsignedframework-res.apk to framework-res.apk and push that back to the system folder on your phone.
Reboot
Enjoy Your CRT Off Animation + SIP Over HSPA/LTE!
FAQ
What is SIP? SIP stands for Session Initiation Protocol, and is used for controlling communications such as Voice over Internet Protocol, or Video over Internet Protocol. It's used in a lot of applications on the market, a big one being Skype. If you want to learn more, go here, here, or here.
Why would I need SIP over HSPA/LTE? Because I told you so. No, but seriously, this will allow you to use all kinds of SIP applications found on the market not only on wifi networks, but also on the go.
Can you haz build me a flashable zip? The whole point of this thing is to teach people how to mod their own already modded files without having to replace everything. But yeah, if you PM me I'll probably do it.

Why is jomeister15 so amazing? Sorry, this question is not infrequently asked.
nice tutorial, it took me a while to find this information a few days ago, good to know someone has gathered it and made it easy to find.
very nice i know i did that while back ago and i was like ughhh ** also there is a post for crt animation on you should include that too. i know id like to get it on my theme but im working through it and it blows my head into 2 .. but moderator please pin this thread or make it a sticky right @ top with cherry.
Awesome tutorial! Been wanting to add the CRT off animation to my ROM for a while now, just haven't gotten around to it. And I will definitely be following your guide. However, can someone please explain to me what SIP is? I've seen a couple of threads about it but none of them have actually explained what it is. Thanks!

What app in specific are you getting FC with? It may just be in issue with fixing permissions. Try that first, and if that doesn't work, re-try the procedure but do not carry the android manifest and meta-inf over. May I also ask what rom you're on? Every dev's framework is different.
oh CRT
hay i did it.. no FC no ERRORS or no CRT off animation.. phone is working normally .. (i made a zip also)

[Q] (Q) OTA Battery Full notification

Has anyone found a way to remove the battery full notification from the 2.3.3 OTA Rom? I know this has been asked before, but I can't tell if the answer is still no, or I simply haven't found the correct thread.

It has been removed in most custom OTA ROMs
Assuming that I don't want to switch to another ROM, is it possible for me to remove the notification from the stock ROM (by modifying framework-res.apk or such), or can the removal only be done when compiling from LG's source?

It can removed from the stock rom, but you need to know exactly what you're doing, as far as modding smali in apks.
Can you give me any help to point me in the right direction for what I need to do? I think I know how to edit the apk's, and I am guessing that I would need to edit one of the xml files, but the naming conventions are not always logical. For example, config_animateScreenLights is related to the crt screen off animation for some reason.

This is not an xml edit, its a small smali edit, but here goes:
adb pull SystemUI.apk from /system/app and decompile SystemUI.apk, navigate to
\smali\com\android\systemui\statusbar\policy\StatusBarPolicy.smali
Find & remove the ENTIRE "showChargingComplete" method
then find and remove this line
Code:
invoke-direct {p0}, Lcom/android/systemui/statusbar/policy/StatusBarPolicy;->showChargingComplete()V
Recompile SystemUI.apk and push to /system/app, then reboot.
If this sounds too hard or tricky, let me know.
Thanks! That worked perfectly.
I don't suppose you could post a link to that modified SystemUI.apk file? I'd love to get rid of the battery full popup, but I've never compiled/decompiled an .apk, so it sure would be a time saver.
Thanks in advance!
I certainly can. A couple of things first. I found that using the OTA, you cannot just push the SystemUI.apk to your phone using adb (it has to do with the permissions baked into the ROM), I had to make a flashable zip. This means that you will need clockworkMOD to flash the zip. Also, the SystemUI.apk that I have includes xboarder56's green signal fix (from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1179748&highlight=ota+gingerbread). I can apply the battery popup fix to a stock SystemUI.apk if you want, just let me know. In any case, I have to recreate the flashable zip, so it will take a few days.
I'm rooted, running the rooted but stock ROM "P999_2.3.3_Stock_OTA" by xboarder.
The only mod I've added is the battery icon mod from this thread installed: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1190283&highlight=battery+mod
So I assume you can't just pull the SystemUI.apk and post, then copy in place using ES Explorer? If you can post a flashable .zip that works for me, whatever is easiest. Many, many thanks....

ok..good you have decompiled and edited...!! No need to sign...
this is what you do..
use option 11..compile system apk..
go through the guide again, it specifically gives info about editing framework-res.apk
now since u have edited an .xml file, therefore you will have to delete resources.arsc
now again i'm saying see the guide, it tells u step by step along with pictures
after compiling apk, there are two options!
1. rename the compile apk as framework-res.apk and push it to system/framework and replace the old one!!
Note: If you do this you will face lot of force close errors, and screen might go black too...but this is normal..all you have to do is reboot and you'll be good again!:good:
OR
2. Create a flashable zip for cwm
How to-> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1721680
P.P.S- If you have committed any mistake in editing or compiling or even there is an software error in APK Multi tool which produced a bad .apk your phone will go into bootloop, hence make a backup with cwm!!
andddd im now bootlooping, i am on the third recompile, and pushing from recovery to /system/framework/framework-res.apk and i deleted the resources.asrc ill try recomiling a few more times just to make sure its not apk mutitool messing up

ok..so i assume u are following the guide correctly and since u have tried three time hence i believe there is no mistake on editing part..following are scenarios:
1. APK Multi Tool is not compiling apk properly, in such case use other apk tools and then check ur results.
2. the problem might be with your phone/OS, i cannot predict what might be the problem, it's best to ask this thing in ur device's section!
I assume you are on deodexed ROM, if u want to check how then-
decompile your systemui.apk and go to folder project and there will be a folder "systemui". Open it and check if there is a folder named "smali" in it! If yes then ur rom is deodexed and if not ur ROM is odexed. I cannot guarantee the working of above method on odexed ROMs.!
Workaround
1. Get CM
2. There's an app called Screen Off and Lock. It gives CRT animation but not by power button press. It creates a shortcut on homescreen, by pressing which u lock ur phone with CRT animation:good:. But again it does not provide aniamtion on screen unlock!

[GUIDE] Hide "No Notification" Label on Notification drawer

Hello,
Some of you may be annoyed by the "No Notification" label on Android lollipop/marshmallow when there is no notification in the notification drawer in stock android
For those i made a quick guide how to remove this label!
lets start
Things needed:
Knowledge how to De/Recompile Apk's Get Knowledge HERE
Notepad++Download HERE
SystemUI.apk of rom
Patience if re/decompiling goes wrong
LETS START WITH THE GUIDE:
1) Extract SystemUI.apk with any root browser and paste to your PC (SystemUI.apk located in "root/system/Priv-app/SystemUI") do a Backup of orig. SystemUI.apk
2) Decompile the SystemUI.apk with apktool or any other Apk-Decompiler
3) Go to folder called "res". Than go to "values-xx" (xx stands for the language. I use my phone in German language so i will go for "values-de". Turkish people go to"values-tr" and so on)
4) After you are in "values-xx" folder open "Strings.xml" WITH NOTEPAD++
5) Press Ctrl+F and search for "No notifications" in your language you are using. In my case it will be "Keine Benachrichtigungen" (German)
(WARNING: There will be 2 results -> concentrate on the 2nd result)
6) Replace the "No notification" text with something you want to appear there. If you want to hide it, delete the "no notification" text and do not add anything.
(WARNING: Do not delete more than the "no notification" Text; So do not delete the whole string)
7) Save the file and close Notepad++
8) Recompile the apk and push it to your phone: "root/system/priv-app/SystemUI"
9) Reboot your phone and voila, you got a Notification drawer with no "no notification" text
tested by me on CM12 5.0.2 and CM12.1 5.1.1
I also made a German Video tutorial on this click Here
Thanks to:
@PulseDroid - for very good apk de/recompile guide
@Flextrick - for very cool apk De/Recompile Tool i am using
Didn't work :/
Couldn't find the "values" file or "strings.xml" or "No notifications"
I used Notepad++'s "Search in Files" to search through every file in systemUI's and framework's xmls and everything for the words "No notifications" . . . . and zero hits.
But I'm runnnig PAC Rom on the Nexus 5 so I guess it's not there for me. That's okay though, sometime when I try Cyanogen again I'll give this guide a shot.

I could try a few things, maybe create a flashable zip if I find a solution.
I will send you my decompiled systemui.apk folder later on maybe tomorrow. Or give ya a screenshot. Because on every device i do own there is a values-XX folder in systemui :S
Are you sure that you have successfully decompiled it and had no errors? Because sometimes it does not decompile everything. Use
android multitool its tha best decompiler and do not forget to install framework-res.apk (located in system/framework).
You can send me your systemui too i will try it (send me systemui in system/priv-app and framework-res.apk located in system/framework)
Sent from my SM-G900F using XDA Free mobile app
This is probably the most delayed reply ever but...
I finally got it working! I tried it out again today - this time absolutely focused xD I still have absolutely no idea what went wrong back then, but I'm so glad it's working now. I followed on through that German YouTube video (made the first comment to it too!) and it worked!
I think I'll even use this method to change other text all over the phone xD Make it more informal (Battery is charging > Battery's charging - lil stuff like that) and stuff to be more like me haha.
I'll have to do this every time I change ROMs though and I'm pretty frequent at that.. I'll see if I can try adding only my customized values-en xml to a new ROM's SystemUI apk and hopefully having it work..?
But that's for another time, for now, I'm kinda happy to have this clean, empty notification shade. Real slick!
Thanks! :highfive: :highfive:

am glad to see it is working now for you
i think it was because you hadnt got the right apktool, so you hadnt the values folder after decompiling
you can also look in the normal "values" folder in dimens, bools, and integers.xml there are some really amazing values you can modify :good:
