I'm developer of GMD SPen Control and I just added Note 8 support in my application.
This application allows to created custom S Pen gestures for rooted Galaxy Note devices. It works on all roms.
Play Store: GMD SPen Control
You can test it free in development thread.
XDA development thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=34085846
Supported devices: Galaxy Note, Galaxy Note 2, Galaxy Note 8, Galaxy Note 10.1
Application has a lot of built in actions, but probably really unique action is ability to diable finger touch input.
Other actions are previous/next application, LaunchPad, recent applications, Home, Back, music control, screen off, power menu and a lot more. It also allows to start any application or shortcut including Tasker tasks.
Features:
* Custom SPen gestures
* Supported gestures with button pressed and without button press.
* Custom path, hold and tap gestures
* Different actions can be assigned for gestures that start from different starting zone
* A lot of custom actions
* LaunchPad
* Start any application or shortcut including Tasker tasks
Video and sreenshots are a bit outdated but still it give the idea.

Just in case you had installed older SPen Control version (4.x.x) on Note 8 make sure to uninstall it an reinstall fresh version 5.0.0, or you will get wrong screen calibration values and gesture path will be drawn at wrong position (below actual S Pen).
Works great, thank you!

I uploaded new version 5.0.2 and FC should be fixed.
I somehow got corrupted build. Android SDK builds debug (development) versions just fine, but every time when I need to export final applications I get Dalvik errors and I have to do clean build/export several times till it succeeds
Does this work with the Cpen on the S4
Thanks Stu, I have the paid apps, working nicely on note 8, except gesture back sometimes a little unpredictable. Just wondering if there is any advanced mode/backdoor to execute small shell scripts directly from custom gestures.
Wow, this app has come a long way since the early 7.7 days.

Hello!
May I know where I can find this feature "Added persistent Disable Finger Input option"? I can't seem to find it anywhere and I want to keep my finger input disabled even after waking up.
Thanks!

Spen Back flawless - I'm running Civato's latest kernel/4.1.2 rom.
Normal Gesture control app (three fingers down) back message shows up, but back action doesn't/rarely happen.

I SAW IT!
Thanks, works great!
I have some feedback though:
1) Do you plan to have a whitelist? Ideally I would like to disable touch only in certain apps.
2) Can screen touch be independent of capacitive button touch? Coz the buttons are the only thing I really wanna disable during certain apps.
If there's a simple toggle app to disable the buttons, that would be perfect. I can then use Tasker to do whatever I want with it
Galaxy Note 8.0 Issue
Hello,
The Pen Detach and Attach actions are not working on my GNote 8.0 (WIFI) model.
Pen Detach Action: Disable touch
Pen Attach Action: Screen Off
The "User Gestures" work as desired.
I tried both checking and unchecking "Overtake SPen Gestures". I would not prefer to overtake the SPen Gestures though.
I remember on my Note 10.1 I had to disable some S-Pen Setting from the Settings of the tablet, but can not recall.
Thanks in advance!

More issues on Galaxy Note 8. I have the app installed and configured as below:
Overtake SPen Gestures: No (Unchecked)
Draw SPen Path: No (Unchecked)
Most of the time "Disable touch input", when enabled (On) works - say 90%
I tried to recreate cases when it doesn't work. And although I can't recreate it all the time, may be 3-4 times in 10 tries, here is what is happening
When the SPen is held slightly above the screen, a few centimeters, may be, essentially when the little air view 'dot' shows up, the disable touch input tends to break. That is, at that specific instance the back and menu buttons get enabled.
Don't know if others with Note 8 are facing this issue, and the previous one reported.
Both issues not deal breakers though, just a little annoying.
Nevertheless, good work and great app. At least solves the purpose. Never had any issues with it on note 10.1
Thanks
It's there any way to call the Samsung screenshot method(with Spen edit options) with GMD? That is the only Samsung gesture that I need. I'm not able to find a shortcut for it.

Although, some issues in my N5110 with android 4.2.2: disable touch input it's not working at all when Spen is detached. I'm working with Note Anytime and GMD SPen Control is essential for me.
Any solution?
Thank you.

thanks for the interest,
Strangely, the app isn't easily found in the play store. I'm guessing its not popular enough yet.
The link is under the pictures in the first post.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.varience.triggerlimited
Those with a Samsung device can download Trigger from the Samsung AppStore for the free version without the six gesture limitation.
Trigger just became even better than it already is!
Now introducing 2 New Panels: NotePad Panel, ClipBoard Panel!
Have you ever seen such a clean and beautiful notepad?
Now its easily one gesture away!
One Tip: For those who don't want to always have the Trigger icon on the screen, you can now switch to using Trigger as a Home Launcher.
Double Tap home to launch the gesture field, there's no need to keep the icon on the screen anymore.
Thank you so muck.

It should be in the store, however Samsung Apps is still verifying update v1.5, so it will be a while before v1.7 arrives on there.
:good:excellent app.. long tym user of trigger.. trigger pulling something that separate this app from hundreds of other gesture based Apps.. few suggestions from my point of view.. it will be handful if there is additional pull direction like southeast, northeast, southwest and northwest direction.. And also need additional SPL actions like back button simulation, kill task. kill all task, menu similar to aokp ROMs and lmt launcher app.. ..glad if they make into oncoming update..
Perhaps one of the best apps I've seen in quite a while. Seriously well done, from looking fantastic to being fantastic.
One constructive criticism, perhaps change the gesture panel enabler icon. Or allow us to choose another one. I personally wouldn't mind a simple grey translucent triangle that i could position in the top left corner of the screen. Unobtrusive and not unsightly at all.

must admit.. its a brilliant start... testing the app now...
one thing i noticed... If i keep the icon in the corner, like suppose the middle screen right corner then the swipe right option doesnt work..
similarly if its at the edge, like bottom right then the swipe right and swipe down options dont work
keeping the icon in the middle of the screen kinda defeats the purpose of it being unobtrusive .. just an opinion

I'm afraid that's not something I can fix if the icon is placed in the corner or sides.
It's a trade off for putting them in certain locations.
Personally I keep mine close to the side, but with enough distance to still activate the actions.
However, maybe the next update will help.
Next update includes pulling the trigger in 8 directions! 4 more quick actions to work with, so it might make putting it to the side or corners more agreeable.

Barely any battery drain at all. The only part that runs on top off all apps is just the tiny icon. Nothing else runs unless you touch it.
You can think of it as just your app containing one additional image and even if you leave it there, it won't affect the battery.
Unless you choose to change the icon to display the time or battery instead. Then it's more active and might affect the battery a little bit.

Hallo.
I've bought your app for my Galaxy Note 2.
At the beginning it worked but after few configuration it started to abort and at the moment it is impossible to use it.
Is there any known bug for Note 2?
Is it possible to have a working release?
Thank you.

Hello, I've tried this app, awesome work and it seems to be extremely customizable.
However I can't think of a reason how this app can replace gmd, is it clipboard/note function?
Maybe you can emphasize on the differences to increase appeal of this app
A dashboard that displays current date, time, battery status and level, list of running apps (only rooted!) and list of favorite apps (customizable). It comes with 3 panels: one as described, one for running app list and one for favs. Almost everything is clickable including date, battery, time and icons of running/fav apps.
Originally made for Note Edge but works on other Samsung devices including Note8 and S9.
You need to enable the panel before it appears, see this tutorial.

Changelog:
Updated 10 May 2018 (v0.83):
bug: fixed crash on Android 8 when tapping tasks button
bug: set explicit light color for date/time (some devices would use black and black on black is hard to see)
Updated 2 May 2018 (v0.82):
bug: fixed possible crashes on Android 8
Updated 11 April 2018 (v0.8):
automatic refreshing of task list on the main panel when panel is being shown (can be disabled in prefs)
bug: fixed multiple issues with task list (not refreshing, missing apps when hide-favs pref if set)
minor: "tasks" buttons now call up Samsung's task switcher instead of task manager
minor: new icon
Updated 10 April 2018 (v0.75):
favorites can now be reordered by dragging
added Phone button to main panel (to make up for missing Phone app from favs), can be hidden in prefs
minor: added battery level text to landscape (some people requested it)
minor: added indication to tasks panel if task list is unreadable
minor: hiding Clock/Calendar/Phone apps from task list, if pref "hide favorites from running tasks" is set
Updated 8 April 2018 (v0.7):
Samsung Slook SDK was updated to 1.4.0 which hopefully fixes compatibility issues with recent phones
bug: fixed dispaying non-bitmap app icons (becoming more and more common) - e.g. IMDb
bug: tasks are now started wtih FLAG_ACTIVITY_REORDER_TO_FRONT | Intent.FLAG_ACTIVITY_SINGLE_TOP flags; previously they didn't and this caused new instance to be started even for running tasks (sometimes causing data loss)
minor: tapping on current date now brings up Clock app (with Alarms, Timer, etc.) instead of date/time settings, unless the former is missing
minor: by default, hidetasks preference is false unless the app was made system
minor: added indication if EdgeBoard was made a system app
minor: added link to this XDA thread
Updated 13 May 2015 (v0.6):
fixed landscape not working for all 3 panels
added options to hide tasks or favs from the main panel to give more room to another list
increased spacing between items somewhat
fixed running task list being empty on the main panel
Task list: Android has removed access to running tasks for regular apps since Lollipop (5). However, if your device is rooted then you can make EdgeBoard a system app and this will remove this limitation. How to do that is described in the app's preferences screen. Unless you do that, refresh button won't work and task list will be always empty.
Feature suggestions:
- see why folders don't work
- show status icons like on the statusbar (signal, etc.)
- (automatically refresh task list) - done in 0.8
- (see why Dialer/Phone app isn't available in fav list) - Phone is actually part of Contacts, it's not a separate app with a separate launcher - added button in 0.75
- (drag-reorder favorite items) - done in 0.75
- (horizontal list scrolling in landscape) - wontfix - https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=76190042&postcount=32
Fantastic panel.

This is one of/the only big problem of this panel. I am yet to set up some service or alerter to automatically refresh it. As of now the panel doesn't refresh it at all but you can do that manually by expanding the task list of the panel (click on the "stack" icon above the list) and hitting on the refresh button there.
The panel was just approved on Samsung GALAXY Apps, I will keep it updated there so I recommend you reinstall it from the store and then update it from time to time waiting until I figure how to properly handle the running task list. Other than this the panel is finished.
OK, I noticed another thing, If I swap between two apps calling them from EdgeBoard Preferred panel, they swap slowly than using the normal preferred panel.
I hope I'm clear.
It's like every time I click on icon app on EdgeBoard panel, a new instance is created instead of calling that present in memory.
Nice. Very useful app.
Icons seem a bit close together vertically. Any way to get some more space between them, as I keep hitting the wrong one. Or alternatively make them a bit smaller?
On road map, any plans for folders or drag and drop to reorder icons?
Hey guys, just a quick note. I've got some valuable feedback about this (here and elsewhere), I'm aware of bugs around the task list in latest Galaxy Apps version and I'll be fixing them soon.
@arbit12 I'll add a setting to tweak the look of the main panel including the distance between the icons (I've crammed them together so 5 icons fit but that's probably not everyone's choice).

The panel width is fixed by Samsung, I can't change it. So I can't make icons bigger without cropping them (they're square). That's as much space as I could use.

This is impossible due to security. If you put file manager on the fav list and somebody gets your locked phone they can pretty much mess it up with that file manager without having to unlock. So Android won't let you do anything except using the camera in a limited way.

It's impossible due to limited screen space. There's the iconic indicator with ~25% step so you can generally get an idea of how drained your battery is.

This app is nice! My home screen now has 3 icons. The ones I use all the time are on EdgeBoard. I'm running Marshmallow on the S6 edge+. The Apps Edge panel has two columns of full size icons. I don't mind the small icons on EdgeBoard. They look better. I have run into a minor issue:
When I edit the EdgeBoard panel settings, should I be able to add apps directly to it? Or can I only show apps on that panel by editing the Favorites panel and enabling "show favs on EdgeBoard"?
Changing the apps (favs) on the EdgeBoard panel is tricky. I have to enable the EdgeBoard Favorites panel, edit it, and then use it to make the changes show up. Then I can disable the Favorites panel and just use the EdgeBoard panel.
S-Pen Command for all AOSP and unofficial ROM
Using S-Pen stylus on a rooted custom ROM which doesn't have S-Pen support like AOSP or MIUI.
Tested on my n7000 with Lollipop 5.1 NightOwl Beta 2
Open quick menu on removal S-pen does not work, just remove the S-pen and press the button twice to activate S-Pen Command
Best app features:
- take a full-screenshot holding stylus button while it is touching the screen
- take a cropped-screenshot (with post-editing) holding stylus button while draw the selection on screen
- edit screenshots taken using your stylus and its specific SPen Image Editor
- open a QuickMenu on stylus button single press (like stock Samsung "Air Command" feature)
- choose up to 6 shortcuts on the QuickMenu
- choose up to 5 shortcuts to be shown in a Notification Shortcut bar
- switch keyboard when stylus is removed or inserted in its slot
- show cursor when stylus is near the screen
- choose a custom image as cursor (with also scale and offset to centre it)
- disable finger-touchscreen to avoid accidental hand-touch while drawing
- disable hardware keys (MENU and BACK) to avoid accidental hand-touch while drawing
- quick-double-press of stylus button executes a "BACK" action
- draw Gestures (holding stylus button while drawing on screen) to start Apps (or, in future, to take other actions)
- Lollipop 5.x support!!!!!
- choose a list of apps that keep the screen on when the stylus is removed
- turn on screen on stylus removal
- choose a list of apps that disable gestures and special stylus features (to use only specific app gestures)
- many graphic personalizations about menu, cursor and gesture
- IT NOT DRAINS BATTERY because no any poll is done at a specific interval

This option does not work on n7000, missing the sensor when removing and reconnecting the S-pen
Why do not post and ask help in my official thread? I just discovered this discussion about my App.
N7000 is not properly supported due to lack of attachment/detachment sensor. Other things should work but the experience is a bit different from what I've planned.

Thank you Panamera, I got my self a copy. Still trying to figure out all its features.
Because the official tread was closed, I must ask here.
I try this app, but without luck. My Spen not working at all. Only when I do factory reset or do a clean install it works for a 10 or 20 seconds and then stops. If anyone have a solution it would be much appreciated.
Hi,
Here is a small app that I started to develop for myself and I guess it can also help other people having Samsung devices (phone or tablet).
The idea is that TouchWiz ROM on Samsung devices often contains some hidden settings screen (depending on the device model and/or Android version) that can't be access with the standard Settings app. It's just necessary to know the name of "Activity" of the hidden settings screens to be able to launch it and it's the purpose of this "Settings +" app, to provide a simple interface to launch hidden settings.
Some hidden screens may be not present on some devices and in this case the app will display the shortcuts as grayed out in this case and disable shortcut. Moreover it's not because a hidden screen is available that it's really working, sometimes it can do nothing.
Screenshots:

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",

}
The first option is just a shortcut on the standard Settings app, other options are shortcut on hidden screens I currently identified form most of the Samsung devices. Shortcuts with green icons are normally available in standard on all Samsung devices and shortcuts with blue icon are hidden on most of the devices. I also added shortcuts on Android easter eggs.
For instance on a Galaxy Note 3 (N9005 - Lollipop) all the screens are available and the following hidden screens are working well:
- Display/ Enhanced display mode -> Allows to enable a new display mode
- S View / Enhanced background -> Allows to use custom background picture
- Power saving mode / Enhanced mode -> Allows to enable grayscale display
- More / Private mode
- More / Users
If you you know other hidden screen activity names, you can indicate it in this thread.Any feedback on the hidden screens that work or not depending on device model and Android version is also interesting.

[XDA Spotlight review]
What is it for:
Use a computer-mouse-like cursor/pointer to control big smartphones like the Note series effortlessly with one hand. The perfect app for power users that make extensive use of swipe gestures for navigation, glide typing keyboards etc. Check out the Imgur album for short videos clips!
How-to:
Swipe over a screen edge to start Reachability Cursor. If you hold your phone with your right hand, use the right screen edge. Drag the tracker to move the cursor and tap it to click. The cursor disappears automatically when you don’t need it anymore.
What is the monetization model:
Freemium. You can use the core app for free without any ads and purchase the PRO version when you need the advanced features.
Google Play Store link
Roadmap (sorted by priority):
minor fixes (the app is actually pretty stable for the first beta release)
more Swipe Pad options (height, size etc.)
better in-app descriptions and tutorials
create demo projects for Google and OEM for Android bug reports that affect this app
a better tracker with a new design and animations
detailed tutorial for the privileged mode
FAQ section
Changelog
1.1.2:
- minor bug fixes
1.1.1:
Changes:
- decreased app startup time
Bug fixes:
- for rare app startup ANRs
- for unexpected negative touchscreen coordinates
1.1.0:
Implemented feature requests:
- settings to disable one swipe pad
- gesture trail color setting
Bug fixes:
- invisible trail colors crashed the app (duh!)
- potential fix for rare ANRs on launch
- diagnostic code for non-reproducible bugs
nice, a fresh concept. looking forward to links to test.
Edit : Downloaded and tested from play store. Working fine but like many apps its accessibility feature too has tab selection page bug (tab selection page changes from minimal to text only mode in chrome). Apart from this working fine on Mi A1 (RR 8.1). Thanks for this app, now waiting patiently for pro features.

I think this is a Chrome feature and not a bug . It looks like Chrome enables this "feature" when it detects at least one active Accessibility Service. I found a Chrome flag for this but it's disabled by default and doesn't change anything .
BTW: You probably already know this but you can reveal the old overview by swiping down the omni-box/url-box.

Hey OP I really like your app. I have two questions.
1. Is there any way to make your app play nice with Samsung One Hand mode? I have an S7 on Oreo and when I triple tap home to activate one hand mode it's disabled (which you obviously know because there's a pop-up). Would privileged mode make both of them work together?
2. Is there any way you could adjust the travel of the cursor? In my most comfortable hand position I still can't quite reach the opposite top corner - maybe an accelerating cursor or a logarithmic travel curve? I have no idea how you would implement it to be honest but it would be a cool pro feature. Here's a gif showing what I mean.

1. The privileged mode will help as long as you don't use both actively at once (revealing the cursor in one-handed mode). TBH, Samsung's one-handed mode + accessibility services with the permission to perform gestures don't work together. This part of the system is just broken. Activating the one-handed mode leads to the described bug and activating an accessibility service like this while one-handed mode is active will screw with your touchscreen coordinates until you turn off the display.
2. You can adjust the speed/sensitivity etc. by changing the size of the cursor area & tracker area in the PRO version.
Main Screen -> Settings -> Behavior -> Cursor & Tracker Area
What you want to do is basically:
make the tracker area as big as possible but easily accessible for your thumb.
resize the cursor area to cover up the hard to reach part of the display but keep it as small as possible
Think about the tracker area as a smaller mirrored version of the cursor area. E.g. Decreasing the tracker area will speed up the cursor. I really have to find a better explanation for these things because it's indeed a little bit hard to understand.

I understand that the price seems pretty high for just a pointer and I already reduced it a little bit this week but I have my reasons for the price. Is there an important feature that makes the free version unusable for you?
