I just noticed that I've lost group texting on my phone. I am not sure if this is happened after the latest update.
I have the Verizon 8x...anyone else having the same issue?

I have a problem with Hangouts app. I just don't receive messages on my phone. When I text to a person he receives my message, but it doesn't work the other way around, when he texts me back nothing happens on my phone. And I do receive messages on my computer with Chrome Hangouts extention, problem exists only on my phone. Anyone experiencing similar problems?
I am having this problem too. Very annoying.
I have the exact issue on a Galaxy S (captivate). Makes the app utterly unusable. Running CyanogenMod 10.1. Hope this gets resolved :<
Same issue on my ATT HTC One using custom rom
Having same problem OK a gsm galaxy nexus...
Same here. In my case, I receive the message if I enter the app. This is not usable! I sent yesterday night a hangout to my brother asking why is he not using hangout with me, and today morning I have seen in desktop chrome hangout that he answered: "because you are not answering"

hangouts
Uninstall and reinstall fixed it fixed it for me. This was always an issue with Google plus too. These apps don't like being restored from backup
Did you disabled Google Play Services from sending data on the background? I had the same problem, changed that and Hangouts is working again.
Very annoying that Hangout and Google Play Services are using the same configuration.
Hangouts never worked for me... I dont receive messages or calls. I dont know why I have installed it
I just recently flashed the new rc1 cyanogenmod update and now I can't send messages but I can receive them. Anybody know how to fix this problem. I can make calls fine just i am not able to send them.
Hi everyone,
I'm having an issue with MMS group messaging on my Nexus 5 using google hangouts. When i send a attempt to send a group MMS (text only), my phone simply sends individual SMS messages to each of the recipients. Similarly, if someone includes me in a group message, I receive it as an SMS coming only from the sender (can't see the other recipients).
This used to work flawlessly for me until about a month ago, and then it suddenly stopped working and i cannot figure out the cause.
Some other info that might be useful: I'm on AT&T, running CM11 nightlies, and am using the version of hangouts released yesterday (though it did not work on the previous version either). I have tried both the AT&T LTE (default) and AT&T Phone APNs and neither seem to work. I also tried using the stock MMS.apk and had the same results when trying to send group messages.
Any info on this issue would be very helpful, thanks!
Just wanted to add that a friend of mine who is also running hangouts on CM11 (although on verizon) has a check box for enabling group messaging in the hangouts SMS settings, and this option is absent from my phone

Just curious, did you try deleting hangouts and re-downloading the new apk? Maybe something got corrupted when flashing a CM11 update? Or possibly the gapps from that flash?

Hello everybody
Yesterday i installed the 5.0 factory image from Google on my Nexus 5. Everything looked OK until i noticed that i couldn't send any SMS messages. Receiving worked fine. I even tried various SMS apps. All had the same problem.
Today i installed the 4.4.4 image. SMS was working fine again. After i sideloaded the update to 5.0 the problems returned.
Can anybody tell me how to fix this, because i'm running out of ideas. I really like Lollipop, but would like to be able to send a SMS once in a while.
BTW: I use vodafone NL
Thank you!

I have the exact same problem, unable to send sms/texts but recieving them just fine. I'm on hollandsnieuwe (which uses the vodafone NL network afaik). I have this problem since updating to the last developer preview (LPX13D) and it persists with a clean install of the official release (LRX21O).
So far I have tried:
- different apps (messenger, hangouts, textra), which did nothing
- changing the SMSC (berichtencentrale in dutch) as in this post >kye.id.au/android-sms-not-sending-fix/< which also did not help.
- creating a proper mms APN in hangouts, which fails because my provider doesn't support mms.
- put my sim in a dumbphone to test and it sent sms just fine which makes me think this is not carrier related and instead caused by lollipop.
Edit: it appears there's someone that managed to solve the issue using the mms APN in hangouts (forum.xda-developers.com/google-nexus-5/help/doesnt-receive-text-messages-t2940517). @miesjaa: perhaps this will help you as well? As I stated before, my carrier doesn't do mms, so there's no mms APN to put in hangouts. Anyone with ideas for a workaround?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Willem
I'm sorry to say that the APN fix mentioned in my thread didn't turn out to be as good as I thought. I was able to message 1 person and that was it. After a few hours I couldn't text him anymore nor anyone else, so I too reverted back to kitkat. Anyway, I contacted Vodafone about this and they told me they would check compatibility when the OTA comes out. It will probably soon be fixed!
As this seems to be a problem with the combination Nexus 5/Lollipop/Vodafone NL I thought I'd share some links:

It will be fixed
Same here.. although Vodafone is billing these texts as texts to international countries.. so watch out!
I guess we'll have to wait. Was hoping to find a patch on XDA, But there is not . Never use sms. But well.
Hmm they're taking their time to fix this problem... still no sign of an update.
So I've found a fix for this issue, not the most convenient one but it works. In order to send other people text messages you'll have to change their number prefix from +316 to 06. (Note: It only worked for me by deleting the contact and readding them by pasting the 06 number) The next step is to install textra from the play store. Now try to send a text message through textra (hangouts disabled). You'll know if it worked when you open your contacts app, select the contact you have texted and see that a text was sent to a 06 number instead of a +316.
If this doesn't work try to text directly to a 06 number in textra.

Hey guys..
I recently updated my s6 to the official 6.0.1 (G920FXXU3DPBQ) ota.
since then i am experiencing some really annoying connectivity issues with instant messaging apps like Messenger, WhatsApp and Viber. I am getting disconnected every few seconds. The result is,you can send and reveive a text message with some delay but you can not make a call!
Does anyone face the same problem?
Are there any possible suggestions/solutions?
I would aprreciate any help! Thank you in advance!
