Android and Apple - General Questions and Answers

Hey guys. I'm not sure if I'm correct in saying this, but isn't it not possible for apple users to download apps off the internet? Like Android users can download apk files of the internet to get paid apps or apps that have been pulled off of the market. I use filecrop and media fire. But can iPhone users do this as well? I thought they couldn't, by my step brother states otherwise.

If you are jail broken you can do that, but by syncing with iTunes, I think you can side-load from the actual device

Thanks for responding. Im not the biggest Apple person ever, so i apologize for asking, but what do you mean by side-load?

Sorry, but this is not a forum for Apple devices. Nor do we promote the use of warez or piracy. It is against the forum rules.
As for your question, yes it is possible to sideload apps on iOS. Side-loading an app means installing an app without using the official iTunes or App store. Apps on iOS have the .ipa extension.
Please use Google.

how do i make an android app to connect to my forum?

Hey guys i need some help. can someone tell me how to make an android app that connects users to my forum?
What do you want your app to do? Hyperlink your users to a forum on the web or have an integrated forum as part of your app?
Check out the "Droid Forums" app on the Android Market...great example of a forum app. See if that's what you want to do and copy it!

I would also be interested in this.
ie how did XDA get an XDA APP
how would I do the same thing for "another" forum ?
does it require integration with the forum itself?
IE zettaboards is there a way to make a forum app for a zettaboards forum?
ahh think I found it
http://www.tapatalk.com/
I know nothing about it yet but I think this is what the XDA and SU apps are built on
OK tapatalk is a non starter for us average joe's $999 !! ouch
but if you make a proboards account you can use the proboards app
I am trying that now.

While tapatalk does cost $999 for a custom app, your forum users could just use the generic tapatalk app if you have the free tapatalk files installed on your sever.

Sorry to post on a kind of old topic... but I'm interested on doing that! I want users can access the forum I manage, similar like Tapatalk, but in a free way.
How can I do it? Can I copy the files or something? I don't mind if I need to buy Tapatalk for doing a free app...
Thanks!
Sorry to bring an old thread, but i thought it would be better reviving this one than making a new one.

If it helps, my forum is on 'TapaTalk' and 'Forum Runner'
Well, I looked on Internet for that, I read a lot but with no luck at the end. I still don't know if it's possible in a easy and not so expensive way. My forum is also on Tapatalk and Forum Runner.

I found perfect site for creating apps...Yesterday I ended up on some site called apps-machine.com . I have to share it with you guys. I started creating my own app and after 15 minutes clicking on their control panel(no programming, just clicks) I made app in what user could make effects on their photos, paint photos, play music, play videos, have notepad, chat and stream music. They got literally 1000's of features on their control panel I think this could be a gold mine And I read something that they have free app development and so on. Aaand you can change everything all the backgrounds,colors,tabs...and you instantly see it on that same page through their simulator..don't know how they managed to do that but it is super handy...I am super excited at the moment..time to get some apps on apple and play store

Is there a way to auto update cracked android apps?

I've recently made the switch from iPhone to android and i'm still getting used to all of the ins and outs. I've recently seen that snappz market has been shut down unfortunately (side note anyone have another Site?). Is there a way to auto update the cracked apps like the normal apps?

Well hello there, new user who rushed into not only using the xda forums, but also downloading the XDA app and posting without reading the rules!
I believe you are going to be extremely happy with what I have to offer. You see, unlike the above post who just told you to read the rules -although in an indirect way, I'm going to be more helpful and give you the link so you don't have to bother searching!
There it is: http://forum.xda-developers.com/announcement.php?f=530
Now you have to be extremely careful with the following process: anything you do wrong may result in permanent and irreversible damage.
First of all, make sure your mouse is plugged. If not, plug it in. You might need to install drivers. Next, hover your mouse cursor (that little pointer like object on your screen) over the link I just posted above (should be in orange text). As soon as the pointer turns into a hand of some sort, RELEASE YOUR MOUSE STRAIGHT AWAY. This is crucial. Now all you have to do is to click (use the left click button!), and read the rules!
Was that so hard? I most certainly hope not
I also think I should remind you -in a very friendly way- that you have already read and agreed upon these rules. Or should have. Now imagine the cure for all diseases was written in there. You wouldn't want to miss that, huh? I don't think so. So next time, please take a minute of your -certainly precious- time reading the ****ing rules before clicking on that shiny "New Thread" button.
Thanks.

This should be an automated response to any thread that breaks the rules.
now please close this thread and take action against member mex911 for fomenting piracy. That shouldn't be allowed, this is a devs site for God sake!

I pray that you get banned for some time or even permanent would be great that would do good for us. If you are so much into piracy please do me a favour, dont come back and ruin xda. You can pirate apps and have fun there. no need to actually learn something over here. Adios. Love to see someone take action against you
PS : i love you both xD

its very popular, i wonder why this isnt closed yet
its: HTTP://ISHALLNOTASKFORWAREZ.JUSTBUY.COM
you get updates, and stuff.
its hilarious, but you can also get movies and books there.
Warez are not only against XDA rules but installing them is just plain stupid. Most contain keyloggers and other info stealing code.

ok so i read the rules right? no pirating or cheating from paying developers but what about markets that do free things like the ----(mod edit) app? is that considered piracy?

Why are you so obsessed with pirating stuff? You know it's against the rules, already got in trouble, so you bring up another app that is probably either A, full of malware and crap to steal and your phones info, or B, just links to all kinds of hacked and pirated apps, which may be full of malware.
i was wondering if ----(mod edit) was considered piracy nothing else because i want more apps
Sent from my SGH-T959V using xda app-developers app
as well as no ----(mod edit) is free of such things because my phone is protected and will tell me if my info is being taken or if there is a virus

Then install free apps and deal with the ad's, do that thing called get a job and pay money to dev's who spend their hard time making apps. Or, learn C, learn Java, learn android and make all your own apps you want for free.
Cheap,cheap,cheap
That's just a silly question, ---- (mod edit). What do you think that means? When ever I hear that in my head, I think of stolen goods.
Now, these stolen goods are modified to work for free without the Google Play/Market verification. Hmm Modified, lets think that through. When it is modified the person who is modifying the APK file can freely add what he desires, now what can a person add that would affect you and your phone? First of it can steal information such as phone numbers, email address', your IMEI which is very important, maybe your Google account, and maybe throw in some files that's important such as photos. Second of all once he is done robbing you blindly he can simply execute a factory reset. Now heed OUR warning.
thank u for answering my question. i will "heed your warning"
Sent from my SGH-T959V using xda app-developers app
ANY FORM of theft is not allowed here. I already warned you. You will be watched closely now, and your ip address will be blocked if you continue to break our rules. If you want more apps, pay for them, or use some of the thousands of free apps. Wanting more apps is not an excuse to steal, of someone steals something, it's because they wanted it.... duh

cloning windows app store (FREE APPS).. lol

hi all,
i am new to xda-developers and it says i am a "junior member" (whatever that means) so i can't post and reply to developer's post. so i decided to post my thread here instead. i hope it doesn't bother you. ok so i am developing an app that will look like windows app store but instead users can download free paid apps and tweaks to customized their windows OS. (this is just a brief description)
so if you are a windows 8 or rt user, just keep smiling. windows 8/rt "fun" is just beginning.

it is NOT that serious. i needed a post count so i can get off "junior member" but i've read a post that tells me to answer questions in Q&A lol. i hope there's a lot of iphone or android posts/questions.
If you want help doing this, you'll have to look somewhere other than xda. This is a site for developers, so you're not going to get a friendly response when discussing piracy.
Don't discuss this on the forum again or it could lead to a very short membership.
Thanks
