Why does samsung have to be a bunch of dkheads!!!! - Galaxy S 4 General

Why Dont they release One phone for ALL This is one downfall of these money hungry FKRS... Korea apparently get the 1.8ghz clocked Octa core WITH LTE ---- WHY CANT WE ALL GET THIS ONE, WHATS THERE FKN PROBLEM.. MTHR-BEEEEEEEP!!!!!!!!!!!... Most other countries will get the I9505 snapdragon and other countries will get the I9500, And here is where is becomes REAL stupid... 60-70% of sites say the I9500 will come only in 3G 30-40% say it can support LTE in some countries.
Some ridiculous news I heard
Samsung did not have enough parts, so they used the S600 to fufill there stock.
Some developers can unlock the i9500 so they it works on LTE
The LTE exynos is bad on battery ( BS ) I own the I9305 its the SAME BATTERY LIFE as the I9300 I owned them both, I DIDNT NOTICE ANY DIFFERENCE
ITS 2013 EVERYPHONE SHOULD COME WITH 4G STANDARD!!!!!!!!
Guys Is the S4 I9500 going to support LTE or not and why are so many places saying it can and and so many saying no... If someone knows anything, do you know what LTE bands it will be

Surprised to see a senior member post this. You can have your exynos octa. I'll take my superior gpu and be on my way

Wow.... switch to decaf?

Sorry I just snapped it.... LOL
I really dont care if its Octa or Quad or what ever.. Why do they need more then one variant... I wasnt happy about the I9305 but I said ahh maybe they made a mistake and realized we should of brought out all the phones with LTE and 2gb ram.... But no it happens again... Ah well life goes on Rant over...
So really is the I9500 LTE or not... And why are there so many places saying it is and vice versa.. Anyone have it in there hands already that actually know?

There's so much ignorance in the OP... and I don't mean that to be disrespectful.
Samsung is one of the only companies that is capable of doing such a giant world wide launch in every country producing millions and millions of HIGH END phones for everyone at once.
No one is capable of doing this, not Apple or HTC.
Apple slowly releases the iPhone out in regions. HTC doesn't sell as well as Samsung does.
Look at it at a business standpoint. That's all I can say.

I guess you will like it if you buy a phone and then 3 months later they release the same version but enhanced. Well I myself would rather them releasing that enhanced one 1st then 1 year later another enhanced one, but that's just me. < and BTW I don't doubt samsung is a capable company, I just don't believe that they couldn't create one variant for all, its all money making ajendas

But haven't you seen the benchmarks? They are nearly identical in performance. One isn't going to outperform the other by a noticeable margin. And if there are regions without LTE, then why put LTE chips in those phones? Even if a LTE chip cost $1, that's a few millions of dollars that add up in these regions. That could cut cost on your next TV, Phone or samsung designed toilet.
My i9300 outperforms my GF's i747 in benchmarks but there's nothing I've ever done that her phone couldn't do.
I'll just leave it at this. You're possibly one out of a million consumer that feels this way. The other consumers probably don't care and will never notice the benchmark differences. They will have a phone that functions like another SGS4.
In a research study, people were blindfolded when drinking various water bottles. Most of them chose plain American tap water as the best tasting water.
I do hope that one day Samsung is capable of just making 1 phone for development reasons. But if this allows me to enjoy a SGS at a great price optimized for my region and I don't have to wait 6 months like I did with my ATT Captivate I'm happy!

The only fail by Sammy is that they are not using SD600 in all their S4's.

Oh my gawd! Best news I heard in a long time..
Just imagine... in 2009 we will perhaps see a HTC phone that actually performs to its specifications instead of being doggedly slow and crippled!
If I read it right, at least, Tegra platform will have it's own ARM chips, so that would mean MSM is out... No more Qualcomm. Best news ever.
EDIT: At least, this is assuming HTC doesn't order a crippled version like we know we they did before
sweeeeet
Brilliant news, hopefully this means some killer devices this year.
Just hope nvidia dont do a Qualcomm and ask for money for drivers
Best NEWS for HTC in a long time!!! The sooner a htc device with it the better!
I hope that it won't have those drivers issue that 5500 suffered from.

I read about the above on WMPowerUser. Since then I've been ever so joyous and happy. Then, someone posted this 'thing' in the comments.
And sure enough people:
Multiple designs underway
Fifteen leading manufacturers are now developing more than 30 Snapdragon-powered devices, the first of which should reach the market in the first half of 2009. The growing list of Snapdragon customers includes leading original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and original design manufacturers (ODMs) such as Acer, ASUS, C-motech, Compal, Foxconn, HTC, Inventec, LG Electronics, Quanta Computer, Samsung, Toshiba and Wistron.

Yeah, 'cause Qualcomm's track record for making awesome chips just speaks for itself. Who wouldn't expect snapdragon to be all that the specs say?
* finds a wall to hit his head against
That is offensive. For those who have ainkling about how Q lied to us the consumers, I don't think they'll be awfully happy.
Hope they fit the hardware to WM7 somehow and to have WiMax going.. cause i don't feel like buying 2 devices

Sorry to disappoint you, but it's possible that a Qualcomm baseband will remain in HTC smart phones in 2009. I haven't found a decent Tegra specification where this would be clearly indicated, however it looks like there's no integrated radio baseband. This is not a big surprise, as NVidia is not a major player in mobile radios market.
HTC was/is using Qualcomm basebands with many of their devices (for example based on Samsung SC3xxx). OMAP platform features an integrated baseband though.
Does anyone know for a fact what RF features Tegra chips natively support (apart from Wi-Fi and BT)?
Nope, but Qualcomm's radios aren't that bad IMHO. They're used all over the place in mobiles. I have no problem with reception, call quality, wireless connectivity or any of that. One of the few things they can actually do is RF. It's all the other stuff they fail at.
I'd be happy with Tegra SOC + Qualcomm RF! Perhaps I'd be even happier with Omap3 still, though that remains to be seen.

No more custom ROMs on HTC devices: HTC will secure the bootloader for future phones.

***Update***:
Sony-Ericsson makes a tool to load custom roms onto their devices (http://tweakers.net/nieuws/73521/so...t-custom-roms-op-android-phones-mogelijk.html)
This is good news!
How much more secured is this than the traditional S-ON/S-OFF? I guess I don't really understand to what extent this new security changes over the old.
Also, it's already cracked on the Thunderbolt so likey can be repeated on the Incredible S. If it's crackable, isn't that all that matters?
This was an interesting argument, to me: NOT that the phones aren't still crackable, but rather that HTC is giving into intimidation by Verizon.. and by doing so, it's signaling that they will bow down to carriers, yet even moreso, over end users who BUY THEIR PHONES and are their actual customers.

You may not agree, but the "rebel" in me likes that argument at least....
When you combine this with HTC America's not honoring warranties, they are not making the best moves given their fractional market share and the massive competition getting stronger and stronger from Motorola and Samsung every day ---- though I love HTC's phones and have never cheated on them once!
But keep in mind HTC *owned* the entire turf of touchscreen devices during the mighty reign of Windows Mobile... Now? Today? They are practically an asterisk. And Motorola? They were gonners. People thought there were out of the game having fallen so far behind after nothing new since the RAZR. Then the new CEO came in, targeted Android as his platform for choice, they targeted the DROID as their re-entry vehicle, and they slammed into the touchscreen market and overtook HTC like a steamroller.
When you are playing on THAT kind of playing field, you're going to go messing with your most loyal customer base -- and kiss ass with a carrier? I think HTC is blundering all over the place -- all the while they continue to make fantastic phones. But fact remains, they cannot afford to even SIGHTLY ANNOY a loyal customer these days. Once someone goes Samsung or Motorola, I don't see a big love affair where they're going to comer back to HTC. So, they better watch it, from where I sit. It's not just as simple a matter as "but we can crack anything". That's missing the point entirely.
Is HTC dual mode? Are they just doing it in the US or all over. That's why I've never liked Verizon. Started years ago over ringtones and BitPim.
What gives that person the impression that Verizon had anything to do with it? They're using the same security in the Incredible S, which from the specs on HTC's website, is a GSM phone so if this additional layer of security were a specific demand from VZW, there'd be no reason to add it to the Incredible S.
I doubt increasing security will hurt HTC sales at all. I'm thinking the majority of HTC phone users do NOT root their phones or hack them. Sure, XDA members do, but the average Joe? I don't think so. The percentage of people who buy HTC just because it's hackable is probably a pretty miniscule amount compared to the big picture.
I could be wrong, but I think the more likely answer for increasing security is to reduce warranty claims and support calls from would-be phone hackers accidentally bricking them.

I'm with this. Go to any Android phone dev section and you see tons of people returning phones for replacement because they goof up flashing it.
I didn't realize this was posted already, I had just posted this in another section, I had said a week ago that it might be the end of an era with HTC locking down their phones, this sucks.
Sent from my Incredible with the XDA Premium App.
I wouldn't be at all surprised if this is just pressure from the carriers rather than HTC itself.
Regardless, i am disappoint!
I hope they dont do this, we need customization!
it does suck, theyll be another motorola now, except sense still owns blur lol

Exactly.
Even if HTC were to start locking the bootloader at the behest of one particular network (and frankly, I find the notion that any one network would have enough clout to try and impose such measures questionable, to say the least), there'd be no reason for HTC to do this to all their handsets.
This is a decision HTC have made themselves.

Also true - XDA may be big but it doesn't compare to the number of phones being sold.
Heck, there are more than 3 times as many Galaxy S handsets have been sold as XDA-devs' entire membership and that's just one of a miscellany of handsets this place caters for.
man i hope somebody talks some sense into them
This is bonkers what are they doing this for?

Well I don't know for sure, but when you hook up you phone to your computer and flash it, your computer and phone will communicate with each other, and the computer will tell the phone what the new rom will be. Now, the people here at xda only have to figure out how to tell the phone what the new rom is.
But with this new security, not only do will we have to figure out how to tell it, we also have to answer the phones question to the computer, what the password is to flash it. This password is only known to HTC.

I was thinking the same thing. The new devices with be unlocked and made available to the people who'll use them.
If HTC locked the phones like Motorola does, then there will be no further HTC gadgets for me.
I didn't buy Motorola because of the same reason.
Every time they make a "secure lock" it takes all of a week to open and rewrite
IF they did make it uncrackable, according to the Supreme court decision it would violate ownership rights.
This is phase and as such, will pass

I think you need to re-read that.
The Supreme Court said it wasn't illegal to hack/tweak/modify software such as rooting/jail-breaking but that doesn't magically give you a right to do so.
If end-users have the right to modify their handsets, how do Motorola get away with their encrypted bootloader?

As you can see from the picture, the AT&T logo is prominently placed on the front. The keys below the display look different compared to the standard Galaxy S II. Instead of a mechanical Home button you now get a capacitive one and there is a dedicated search button as well.
While initially the device did seem like the Infuse 4G to us but then when we saw the side profile we noticed that the camera on this phone was jutting out of the case far more than the one on the Infuse 4G. In fact the camera on the Infuse 4G is completely flush with the body, unlike the one on the Galaxy S II. So the one you see above is undoubtedly the AT&T Attain.
For now, however, we have no information available on the launch date of the device but we will keep an eye out for that.

Second, you don't have a quad-core processor
Third, you don't really think any iphone users out there are really going to care, do you? Nobody has ever purchased an iphone to be on the cutting edge of technology.

I think anyone who buys an iPhone is mad anyways.... You are in a CLOSED ecosystem and you can't do **** with an iPhone unless your connected to iTunes and even then the stuff you purchase is not really yours....? iPhone 5 is a well made and great device but your buying into a LOCKED down OS platform and that I cannot do.... I have an iPad 3 for my daughter and that is only cause it is more "kid" friendly, so if you want a kid friendly phone then get an iPhone 5 and be like EVERYONE else that has the same damn icons and os as the first generation iPhone... LOL
Quad core in OP, dual core in subsequent post.
Don't be sad that you have a phone nobody is going to oogle over anymore because of a new iphone release. Sure, it may not be cutting edge technology, but not a single iphone user is going to be impressed that your phone has 23 app points more processing power than their phone. I have a gs3 because it fits my needs, and others have iphones because it suits them. No reason to be butthurt enough to make a thread about it.
Besides, real men don't measure their manliness by the phone in their pocket, didn't you get the memo?
MFW 0/10 asks me if I'm mad
MFW somebody tries to troll me using 2 seperate accounts
Go back to 4chan, this clearly isn't the place for you.

ehh the android customization VS apple simplicity argument has been done to death, and it never proves anything.
Apple people buy apple products for simplicity or name brand awareness, and they're happy
Android people buy android for function and a sense of self fulfillment, and they're happy
People in the middle buy whatever seems cool and don't care what either have to offer, because they both get the job done and meet their simplistic needs, and they're happy
The whole grass is greener on my side debate is pure opinion, and as long as you're happy with what you have there's no issue. I can imagine an argument in your household though one day!
Daughter: I'm 17 why can't I go on dates, I'm mature enough!
Dad: Why don't you prove your maturity by doing your homework, cleaning your room, and using an adult operating system!

[Q] This may sound tres "conspiracy theory-ist", BUT ...

Suddenly and without warning today ... this hypothesis struck me and started to develop (much like an impending thunderstorm). I wonder: What if somehow Apple managed to coerce AT&T into sabotaging the ICS release with the intent of deflating Samsung, just in case their lawsuit didn't work out? In return, AT&T would be thrown a handful of Apple exclusives (since they were so bent out of shape about Apple cheating on them first with Verizon then Sprint; ironically about the same time that the Android lineup REALLY improved at AT&T). Naturally, greedy AT&T would jump at the chance to be Apple's main (excuse me) ***** one more time, right?
I guess this is coming from a place of substantial anger. I'm FURIOUS that the phone I LOVED so much for seven months was basically taken away from me. And there is not a SINGLE official word from either Samsung or AT&T about what I can do about it. So I suppose I can bring the thing back to Best Buy, AGAIN, and recieve another REFURBISHED edition (one that's only 300 IMEI numbers up from the original one), but honestly, I don't have the time or desire to rebuild the damn thing one more time (and then beg the guy at Android Assistant to please let me not have to pay again ... etc. etc. etc.)
I know ... I'm delving deeeeeeep into conspiracy theorism and perhaps I shouldn't play so many video games. BUT, maybe ............ anybody think it makes sense?
PS Thanks for keeping this great and informative site running. It serves as such an amazing resource. The amount of knowledge I've picked up here is invaluable.
WOW. Really?? My phones running great on AOKP JB. Sounds more like user error than a multi-business conspiracy.
JB?

Did i miss something and AT&T officially released JB? Because I'm speaking specifically about the official release that AT&T and Samsung sent out to its customers ... you know, the legal way.
Yeah you missed the whole point of this site. lol

No. Dude these are multibillion dollar companies, they have better **** to deal then playing subterfuge over what would amount to a couple thousand dollars, at the most, lost from annoyed customers

Actually- rooting your phone and using a custom ROM are 100% legal.
Carriers like at&t don't like it, but its legal.

Lol. If anything AT&T is trying to get away from Apple products. They make more profit selling Android devices.

THIS.
All it does is void your warranty. Since it was probably already void for who knows why else among the array of things that could void your warranty, the OP's argument is null and void, and similarly a useless waste of space.

What argument? Who's arguing with who? What'd I miss?
And since I didn't really present any facts since it wasn't an argument, per se ... what exactly is your point?
Seems like all you guys want to do is argue ... or troll. Hmmmmmm.
PS the original point was meant to be a funny "get this **** out of my head" thing. Maybe I'll re-evaluate my needs. Can I have my money back, then?

It's who is arguing with whom. Also, I believe the word you were searching for in the thread title is theorist, not theory-ist.

That was sweet! ALL HAIL GRAMMAR NAZI! As far as the 'discussion' goes, it should make no difference to you who releases what and when. As it was pointed out, maybe you are missing the point of this arena. Whether you develop, tinker, or just screw around with your phone, the point is this: collectively, we as a group could not care less what the carriers or even manufacturers provide for us in the way of OS updates. We seek out our own, by way of skilled and knowledgeable people who aren't satisfied with the bloatware infested offerings given to us long after the fact. As a member of this forum, you are EXPECTED to have the desire to learn how to make your own way in the android world, albeit with the help of others most of the time. This is a development and learning forum. Regardless of the trolling and/or occasional flaming for the sub-genius among us, you need to want to learn, not wait on the conglomerates to dole out what they want to....my penny and a half.
