If you are S-Off, you will lose recovery and root but keep S-Off. If your bootloader is unlocked, you will need to relock it before the RUU will run.

can you tell me how to check to make sure bootloader is locked? I am asuming my bootloader is unlocked because I dont know anything about locking it.

Reboot into hboot. It will say what you have at the top.

k says eng s-off RL so I take the rl to mean recovery is locked.

Recovery is not lockable. The bootloader is. Your bootloader isn't unlocked but you are S-Off. If you run a RUU it will wipe your recovery and ROM, but you will keep S-Off.

yea i figured it would wipe my rom i have on my phone now, but as long as it dont lock my phone so i can flash another rom or radio to it later is ok. Kinda wanting to go back to stock since it seams the rom developement is going away for inspire. I still have two months before I can upgrade, but i do plan on keeping my inpsire for playing around with. Looking at getting a gal3 or maybe gal4 not sure yet.

Inspire 4G can use Desire HD ROMs. Look in those forums for more development.

I have been dont really like many of them. wish I could learn how to cook my own rom, but do not have the time it takes to learn it. well I do i guess just would have to start at the very begining and do not have the linux system. I will some day take the time to learn it, right now i am making sure I am up on the basics, every day and every question is a learning experiance which is why i like doing this. lol thanks again for the info bud.
i just noticed something you said htc desire HD not just htc desire. Is their a differance between the two? i have been looking in desire.

The Desire HD and the Inspire 4G are essentially the same phone. The Desire is the precursor to the DHD. So yes, there is a big difference between the Desire and the Desire HD. Do not flash Desire ROMs on a DHD or an I4G; they are incompatible.

[Q] I Unlocked Bootloader Using Official HTC Tool - Now What?

Ok so I unlocked with the Official HTC Bootloader unlock tool. I have been trying to find the answer to my question of what else needs to be done before I can Rom the thing. I have been reading and everyone just seems to be arguing whether or not you need S-OFF in order to put a rom on the phone.
So please... Someone give me a straight answer. What else Do i need to do before I can load a custom rom on the phone. I went through tall of the official unlock stuff and its unlocked. Now what?!?!
First you need CWM. Then just flash the zip of your ROM
Swyped from my HTC Sensation
Thanks man for the response. Thats what i thought needed to happen but wasnt sure. Off to rom I go!
Still having trouble
Well i went to the dev section and tried to follow the steps to installing CWM and I'm getting an error. Im thinking I might need to do the HBOOT steps too. Im going to try that next. I just dont want to break my 3 day old phone.... ya know.
You can't install CWM or any other ROM if you enabled s-off with the HTC dev tool. You can only do it if you use revolutionary.

With the Sensation this is no reason not to use revolutionary and get true S-OFF.
But if you want to continue down the HTC Unlocked path, you may want to visit the Evo 3G forum. There are some excellent threads and discussion on how to get into ClockworkMod using the HBOOT method. For some of the folks over in Evo 3G land, the latest HBOOT that was released for their HTC Unlock OTA has rendered Revolutionary useless because it disabled the root exploit, so they have no choice.
But if I were you, go with Revolutionary for permanent S-OFF/Nand unlock.

[Q] Is it possible to completly remove Revolutionary from my phone?

I've checked every possible tag in my mind about this and couldn't find one for Sensation.
Is it possible to revet back to the original state before the Revolutionary. Is it possible to completely uninstall the Revolutionary from my phone?
I'm not talking about the s-off -> s-on
I'm talking about returning the phones software to its original state.
Like it is never installed in the first place.
Thank you.
It's funny because last weekend I wanted to do exactly the same thing.
What I learnt was to go from S-OFF back to S-ON can be quite fiddly and tricky, abd if you mess it up rub the risk of bricking your phone.
In order to get the stock Rom, here is the link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1074559
Now it's just a case of finding which one you are, and your ril and radio.
Good luck
Thank you for your answer. But this is not what I want I can do this already but when I check the bootloader I see the pink "Locked" and it tells me that Revolutionary is still there.
I can go to S-On without any trouble that is not what I am asking.
What I am asking is to be able to get rid of every little bit of coding about the Revolutionary and return my phone to its original bootloader software.
If is says locked then ur good since that's what it said when you bought the phone.

When I get my phone there wasn't such writing. It is the product of Revolutionary.
So it is still there. I want to be able to get rid of it.
I'm not asking this about the warranty purposes. I'm asking this because I've realized that after using Revolutionary I can't install any app from market via wireless no matter what I did. Strangely it is fine to surf and download via mobile.
I know this because this is the Second Sensation I've faced having this problem and I remember some user Leviathan(maybe wrong?) talking about wifi dieing after Revolutionary.
So what I need is to get rid of it and be able to install original bootloader(maybe bootloader is not the right term here I don't know).

i am saying that you probably have a modified hboot, because of the revolutionary sOFF, just like alpharev. you need to flash stock hboot to get everything back, hboot flashing is dangerous, if it goes wrong youll have a brick.

Removing stock apps

Hi,
I was wondering how to remove the apps that come with the phone on vodafone as i recently changed to 3 or can i flash the 3 ruu to my phone? Thanks
Sent from my HTC Desire S using XDA App
You could flash the Sense 3.0 ROM before the Vodafone upgrade
You may need to create a GoldCard to be able to flash it (if you have a different CID).
But in order to remove any stock apps, you have to be S-Off or HTCdev unlock your phone and either get root on your phone or install a custom pre-rooted ROM.
I want to get rid of the vodafone ones and install the 3 ones how do i do this?

You need to install another HTC RUU (e.g. the European) and you'll be fine.
Is your DS also SIM locked? If yes, you may need to unlock it afterwards.
Sent from somewhere around the globe using XDA app on my HTC Desire S
So can i install the 3 ruu on my phone? If i download it and install it and what is a goldcard?
Sent from my HTC Desire S using XDA App
See this post here on how to create a goldcard. The goldgard is needed in order to bypass the CID check of the official RUU (or to "fool" the CID check). And then you'll be able to run the RUU you want

Thanks, so if i download the 3 ruu and flash it will it come up with the 3 apps etc?

deadphone..... Really?
Do you know why nobody's answering your questions? Because they indicate that you haven't done any reading whatsoever, and you're too eager to jump into stuff you haven't the slightest clue about. I suggest you read up about android in general, how stuff works on this device in particular, read about bricks that have been made off perfectly good phones because of reckless flashing and following the advice of other novices, who have no idea what they're suggesting... And when you think you're done reading, and know everything there is to know,..... read some more!
I only say this because you and your very helpful "guide" friend here are dillydallying with things like RUU, goldcard, CID hacks, etc.... which is more advanced stuff than you're equipped to handle currently, and this thread looks like a disaster waiting to happen.
Do you know what trouble an incompatible RUU can get you into, if you don't use it correctly? Just S-off your phone and flash a custom ROM man... there are so many stock, pre-rooted ROMs available!
Wait. Patience. Read. Tutorials. Guides. Those are what you should be looking for...........not RUU, Goldcard, CID, Misc_version. You're not there yet.

Nothing.
If you haven't figured it out even now...go ahead, make a Goldcard, and flash a 3 RUU on a Vodafone branded phone. See where that gets you. Do you think CID is the only thing an RUU checks when upgrading a ROM?
I'm sorry if I offended you... maybe you could try out what you just suggested to that guy on your own phone and educate me... I seem to have gotten my concepts wrong.

Have to agree with you there, this RUU thing is very dangerous if not handled properly. I've already had an issue flashing the wron RUU, which resulted in my bootloader saying *****Security Warning***** and also i became S-off! Had to take it to HTC, but fortunately they didn't make an issue, and replaced my phone. Have stayed away from RUUs ever since. From what i have read, just making a goldcard is not enough... you need to change Misc_version too, or something like that.
How do i s-off my phone then? Hboot 2.00.0002 and every guide i read says that i have to downgrade is there a way around this? I know you have just said read up but i cant find any guides that say how to s off with my hboot without downgrading

Your post started with "How to remove stock apps"
You never provided any details about your phone... I didn't know you were still s-on!! Why didn't you mention that anywhere?
i didn't think it would be relevant at the time, now i know this next time i start a new topic i will include details about my phone. Anyway, the details for my phone are:
hboot 2.00.0002 s-off unlocked with htcdev so what can i do now?
I dont know anything about s-off because i dont have a htc but i do know when you are rooted you can use es file explorer or root explorer to delete apps.In es settings set system as read/write and then navigate to /system/app and delete any apk you want but dont get carried away because you can mess your phone up.Just delete the pre-installed apps you dont want.

First of all I thought that this is a community where everyone in here is supposed to help each other and not to start flaming or using irony to say to someone that he may be wrong.
We weren't all born to be experts or geniuses like you may be so you could be just a little bit polite when saying to someone that "hey you are wrong because from my experience you need to do this or that".
I'm new in the Android platform since I've been an android user for only 1,5 year but I believe I managed to play a bit with it, since for the last 7 months I'm constantly "messing" with my old devices.
And no I didn't get offended, I just don't like to see great communities, as XDA, lose their good name / status.
No hard feelings though.
The S-OFF or HTCdev unlock, flashing a custom recovery and installing a custom ROM may be the "easiest" way to do it, but what if the user didn't want to have a custom rom?
As for me trying the suggested method on my DS, well that's what I did in November to my DS, before I decided to go with a custom rom in January.
My DS, even though I got it from a Greek mobile operator (COTE), it was branded (with CID: T-MOBN14) but without any 3rd party apps. Other friends in Greece with DS have a CID: HTC__001 or another that I don't remember it atm but it stands for HTC_ELL (Greece).
After reading the 6th post of this thread, I simply did what you can see on the posts #286 & 288 in this thread.
I don't know if I got lucky or not but my DS worked flawlessly until the 1st week of January when I decided to unlock it using HTCdev, flash 4ext recovery and install CoreDroid.
Based on what I did, I suggested to deadphone99 to go with the Goldcard solution.
Anyway, I'm sorry if I just got lucky and my suggestion may caused deadphone99 to get a dead phone

[Q] Bell Sensation

Hey guys, I'm getting a bell Sensation (The one with the AT&T bands) real soon and I want to know if I can just s-off it and flash roms like I would to a normal T-Mobile Sensation... Thanks...
that would depend on the H-boot it will come with. if it came with ICS, then most probably it will be H-boot 1.27, and there will be some trouble with that. although there is a method to S-Off that here in the development section.
of course you will need to de-brand it too. but don't worry, once you get the phone, search here and you will find all the answers on how to de-brand and everything that follows.
anything you wanna ask and couldn't find by search, post it here and we will help

I also have a Bell/Virgin Sensation and I rooted no problem. I am running a custom ROM.
I have the bell sensation running on the Telus network. As mentioned. it will depend on your h-boot.
Hold the volume-down button and the power button in the same from cold boot (take your battery off) and you should see the h-boot version on it. Anything above 1.27 will be more difficult if not... piece of cake.
Take out the battery again and boot up after that.
Alright so I finally got it and it might already be modded? It says unlocked, s-off, and hboot 1.29. Does that mean it's done, so I can flash any ROM now from the dev section? (With wipes and instruction following, Im not a noob lol)

Easiest way to check. See if you find an app called super user installed in your app tray. Or download an app called root checker to make sure.

I hate to break it to you, but I don't think you have a real HTC Sensation. That means that none of the rooting methods listed in this forum are going to work. You seem to have a boot loader that is designed to look sort of like the HTC boot loader, but its not the HTC boot loader. That means its got am different design so the rooting methods shown here won't find the same exploits to gain root access and s off. Double unfortunately, even if you could get it rooted, none of the Sensation ROMs would work on it.
Sorry, dude.

You are unlikely to find anything that supports it becuase it's not a real sensation. And again, if you did manage to unlock it it wouldn't get you anywhere because all ROMs, Recoveries, and Firmwares for the Sensation are made for hardware that your phone simply doesn't have. Any attempt to use software made for the Sensation runs a serious risk of bricking the phone you've got. And there is a decent chance that something might actually be able to be installed because who knows how 's-on' that bootloader really is. But if it installs, it will almost certainly brick the phone.
It'd be the same as if you tried to install Samsung firmware on an HTC device. Wrong radio, wrong bootloader, boom...dead.
So if the phone you have works at all for your daily purposes, leave it alone. Just about anything you try to do to modify it will likely kill it.
That being said, most android apps should work on it. It's probably running real Android since Android is open source.
Thanks
