Is there a way to permanently disable speech-to-text AND the microphone that replaces the comma (seriously, who the hell thought THAT was a good idea?) on the AOSP keyboard in Jellybean? I can disable it until next boot by deselecting Voice Search as an input method in Settings -> Language and Input, but then it re-enables itself at reboot, and sometimes before.
Any help with this would be appreciated.
Go into keyboard settings, go down to voice input key, and select off

Issue:
I use a BT keyboard and Evernote for taking notes in my lectures. Everything works fine but the on screen keyboard pops up whenever I tap on a word to edit it or add more notes in between.
I want to know if it's possible to make an app that will disable the on screen keyboard from popping up when I'm using a my BT keyboard.
I'm using Cyanogen 6.1 RC1.

Possible? Yes, absolutely.
Does using a BT keyboard require you to select a specific input method? If not, a makeshift way to do it would be to download one of the Miimote apps and select that as your input method, rather than "Android Keyboard" or whatever.
If not, I'm sure someone has or can make an "invisible keyboard" to set as your input method.
Dude I think that will solve my issue. I'll test it out later but I think you hit the nail on the head. I appreciate it.
By the way you don't need to choose an input method with CM6 and Apple keyboard.

Hi there,
I just upgraded my Motorola Milestone to Cyanogenmod 7.2 and it's working like a charm.
I remember before upgrading (Froyo 2.2.1) that when composing an Email or SMS using the physical keyboard, I got suggestions everytime I started typing a word. For example, if I started typing "th" it will show me "the this these...".
But in Cyanogenmod 7.2, I'm not getting word suggestions. Is there an option that I need to activate to get them?
I already went to Settings -> Language and Keyboard -> Android keyboard settings -> Languages -> Selected the language (but this seems to be for the onscreen keyboard, not the physical one).
The options present for the physical keyboard are: autocorrect, automatic caps and automatic punctuation (all of them are checked).
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Cheers
I noticed the same problem on CM7 ROMs, seems to be like that on the stock keyboard, but

Hi all. I can't find the voice input key on my Nexus 5 keyboard. I've checked the keyboard settings which shows the voice key is active and my language is set to English UK.
Also, saying okay Google, doesn't activate voice search.
Can anyone help me out please?
Thanks.

try switching voice input language to English US
It's sorted now. The problem was caused with voice input being set to automatic, I changed it to English UK to get the voice button working.
As for OK Google, that only works when Google now is set to English US.

Which voice input setting are you referring to? I'd like to enable the voice input key but not sure which setting you mean.

In the Language & input section under the Keyboard & input methods, check Google voice typing too. Puts the button right next to the space bar like before.

Hi guys, I'm having the same issue. I have a US nexus 5 and can't get the voice input key to show up. I'm using English US everything (voice, keyboard, dictionary) and no matter what the mic button doesn't show up. And yes, I'm sure the option is checked to show button on the keyboard.

I discovered only certain keyboards have the voice input key, I hope you find the answer though.

-Tick Google Keyboard(English US) (Or whatever)
-Tick Google Voice Typing
I've had my phone for a few days now and all of a sudden the Mic icon in the google keyboard has been replaced by a comma. I have tried everything to fix it. Deleted data/cache for the Keyboard app, disabled/re-enabled the voice icon in settings, etc... Anyone else have this issue? Not having Speech to text help in the keyboard is a big drawback.

Have you enabled "Google Voice Typing" in language and settings?
Sorry, I fixed it. Google Voice Typing was not enabled on the input screen
Mic Icon gone
Same thing is going on with me. I received my new Nexus 5 yesterday. The keyboard mic button was there in gmail. Now it's gone.
"Voice input key" is checked in the Settings > Google Keyboard.

You need to look a few spaces UNDER Google Keyboard. There will be Google Voice Typing. That needs to be checked.

You've enabled it in the Google keyboard settings correct? The Google voice keyboard must be enabled then the setting in the Google keyboard must be enabled

Not sure if I'm doing something wrong but when typing using the stock keyboard it always capitalises the last word when I punctuate with a ? Or a !
So if I type Help? The H gets capitalised. If i type Help! The same, but if I type help. It doesn't.....!
Very annoying - any way to stop it Happening?

How about this:
Settings--> General ---> Application Manager:
Swipe left (to get to the right side) to "All"
Scroll down to Samsung Keyboard.
Force stop, clear cache, clear data.
Restart the tablet.Then:
Settings ---> General ---> Language and Input:
Language - set to English US
Click the gear to the right of the Samsung Keyboard entry:
These are my settings:
English US should be the input language.
Predicitive Text on.
Auto Replacement on.
Auto Capitilization on.
Auto Spacing on.
Auto Punctuation on.
Keyboard Swipe - continuous input.
Everything else unchecked.
