CM7 physical keyboard suggestions - General Topics

Hi there,
I just upgraded my Motorola Milestone to Cyanogenmod 7.2 and it's working like a charm.
I remember before upgrading (Froyo 2.2.1) that when composing an Email or SMS using the physical keyboard, I got suggestions everytime I started typing a word. For example, if I started typing "th" it will show me "the this these...".
But in Cyanogenmod 7.2, I'm not getting word suggestions. Is there an option that I need to activate to get them?
I already went to Settings -> Language and Keyboard -> Android keyboard settings -> Languages -> Selected the language (but this seems to be for the onscreen keyboard, not the physical one).
The options present for the physical keyboard are: autocorrect, automatic caps and automatic punctuation (all of them are checked).
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Cheers

I noticed the same problem on CM7 ROMs, seems to be like that on the stock keyboard, but

[Q] ICS: How do you remove the onscreen keyboard?

So I just purchased a keyboard folio case. It works wonderfully but for the life of me I can't figure out how to remove the onscreen keyboard. I have absolutely no need for it and it takes up over half the screen when I'm typing.
I have searched all over the forums and I've googled it. I can't seem to find it anywhere.
I'm running the latest ICS Kang Nightly. I noticed that the EOS rom doesn't have this option either.
Does the stock ICS version have this?
Help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
It's in Honeycomb and ICS (and the phone versions of Android too, I assume). If you're using a bluetooth (or USB) keyboard, then the on-screen keyboard should no be displayed until you disconnect. I use the Motorola bluetooth keyboard, there is no on-screen keyboard for me unless I disconnect.
How strange. This doesn't work for me. I swear. As soon as I start typing in a text field the regular onscreen keyboard pops up.
Are you using stock ICS?
I did find a temporary solution after doing some more investigation. I searched the market for some keyboard apps to see if there were any out there that perhaps gave you the option.
I ended up finding an app called null keyboard and this seems to do the trick. I basically select it in the Language and Input menu in the Android settings and it disables the on screen keyboard for you while maintaining the ability to use a physical keyboard.
While this does work pretty well, it would be nice to get the stock keyboard to be able to do this so I wouldn't need to switch back and forth.
On my Xoom (stock Wi-Fi ics), when using a Bluetooth keyboard, I can select the keyboard icon in the status bar that displays when selecting a text field and toggle physical keyboard on/off on top of the list of keyboards that shows.

Any way to disable the samsung keyboard using...
I also Purchased the Zagg Folio keyboard for my Samsung Galaxy Note 8 GT-N5110 android 4.2.2 and tried most of those apps like null keyboard and the like to no avail, so I was wondering if there is a method for rooted devices with programs like Xposed Framework to disable Samsung keyboard. thank you

You do realize you've posted to a thread for the Motorola Xoom, not a Samsung device, and the last post before yours was two years ago?
I'd suggest posting in the forum for your device.

[Q] Samsung keyboard not working

I flashed the no-wipe JB release (currently K3) from these boards on my S3. I was initially bugged by the persistent help tips on the lock screen, but eventually followed the suggestion of disabling the help app, so that appears to be gone. My biggest sticking point now is that the default Samsung keyboard does not work for me. When I select that keyboard, any attempts to type by swiping show the line following my finger movement across the keys, but no text appears. I can type by tapping. I do have T9 Trace selected in the keyboard settings. I also have Swype Beta 1.3 installed and working properly, so I'm fine with using that keyboard, but I would like to figure out what settings I'm missing in the default keyboard. I tried uninstalling Swype and re-flashing JB with no improvement. Has anyone else experienced this? DO you need any additional information or have any suggestions?
Thanks

I dont want to use to the nnew Swype keyboard because I prefer the stock samsung keyboard. My t9 option is on but when I swipe, my swipe line appears but no text appears. It does add space though as if wrote more than one word. Ive tried cleari ng cache and data in thr application settings and still got the problem. [Q] Can't use alternate soft keyboard - Error message - WITH SCREENSHOT

Ok, I cannot find anything related to my problem, and I CAN`T be the only one with this.
First things first: My name is Lane, long time lurker, first time poster. I have a P-3113 GTab2 7", stock rooted JB 4.1.2, and a IVSO bluetooth keyboard case. Over the last week, I've been trying to find a way to hide the soft keyboard while using the BT keyboard. I started with "Null Keyboard", but all it did was get rid of the keyboard entirely. I still like using the soft keyboard when I need it in a pinch. I don't like having to switch manually. Then I found AnySoftKeyboard, which i freakin' love.
But now i have a problem.
When the default keyboard is set to AnySoft (or any other keyboard for that matter), i can use it and its wonderful features for a total of 5-10 minutes before Android complains and throws up an error message, then switches the default keyboard back to Samsung... I even caught a screenshot of the error just now. You can see AnySoftKeyboard in the screenshot behind the message, but then it switches to the Samsung keyboard.

It is an error i might recognize.. Does it happen with ny other keyboard too??like swift key or ny other that stock??
If you get prob just in AnySoft then its the problem in programming made by the app developer,
if other keyboards crash too then i guess its the problem in your rom.. Did you flash ny thing on your current rom??
Also,
Try using WIFI keyboard if you want no keyboard display while typing from external keyboards via usb
ROM is stock JB, just rooted. Nothing else flashed. This happens with other keyboards, too, like SlideIt, Null, and AnySoft.
As far as I know, this only happens when I have my bluetooth keyboard connected.
It is really not that hard to switch input methods between a BT keyboard and an onscreen keyboard, no app is needed to easily go back and forth between those two. There should be a notification that shows up to easily switch input methods when a text box is tapped.
It looks like the second line says "change BT input method to stock Samsung keyboard", if that's any help.
Attached is the said notification.

No, only when an alternate KB is set as default.

[Q] PERMANENTLY disable microphone on JB keyboard?

Is there a way to permanently disable speech-to-text AND the microphone that replaces the comma (seriously, who the hell thought THAT was a good idea?) on the AOSP keyboard in Jellybean? I can disable it until next boot by deselecting Voice Search as an input method in Settings -> Language and Input, but then it re-enables itself at reboot, and sometimes before.
Any help with this would be appreciated.
Go into keyboard settings, go down to voice input key, and select off

Texting Bug?

Hello,
I am running the latest version of android fro the galaxy note 5 and i seem to be running into a problem with the keyboard while texting. When typing, if i put an ! after a word it always changes it to i!. I have tried different keyboards and different messaging apps and i still have this problem.
Any possible solutions would be appreciated.
I had the same problem...annoying ****z...go to phone settings, language and input, default keyboard, and scroll all the way down and hit reset settings...hit clear personalized data and reset keyboard settings.
