Not sure if I'm doing something wrong but when typing using the stock keyboard it always capitalises the last word when I punctuate with a ? Or a !
So if I type Help? The H gets capitalised. If i type Help! The same, but if I type help. It doesn't.....!
Very annoying - any way to stop it Happening?

How about this:
Settings--> General ---> Application Manager:
Swipe left (to get to the right side) to "All"
Scroll down to Samsung Keyboard.
Force stop, clear cache, clear data.
Restart the tablet.Then:
Settings ---> General ---> Language and Input:
Language - set to English US
Click the gear to the right of the Samsung Keyboard entry:
These are my settings:
English US should be the input language.
Predicitive Text on.
Auto Replacement on.
Auto Capitilization on.
Auto Spacing on.
Auto Punctuation on.
Keyboard Swipe - continuous input.
Everything else unchecked.

Every time I type sms, my TP auto corrects and forces me to use words from its dictionary, instead of my intended word. Then it won't let me change its word. I have tried to turn off auto-correct and set suggested words to 0, but no luck. Please someone tell me how to stop this.
are u sure T9 is not selected?
I have same problem. With sms messages the word correction screws up my messages. I turned off the suggest words option under advanced config...but doesn't help the sms/mms messaging helper. Haven't tried registry hacks...might have to explore the registry a bit...

Yes I am sure it is not selected. I am using slide-out keyboard anyway, but am sure T9 is not selected. Please someone must have come up with some way to stop this [email protected]@@@ing thing from changing all my words.
There should be T9 as a secondary function on one of the buttons on the slide out keyboard. For the FUZE it is Fn+right arrow. It brings up a menu to choose ABC or T9.
turning off word completion in either t9 or keyboard mode doesn't matter. The word completion still comes up. Doesn't seem to be a way to turn it off!
Try This. this should do the trick... hopefully!

I have disable word correction using the Advanced confing App 3.3
The Advanced Config. 3.3 application has been a great tool for me so far and allows for many customizations. I am using a Touch Pro and it was able to stop word correction on my device. If you are going to install Advanced Config tool, you will need to install Microsoft .Net compact framework 3.5 first. Hope this is helpful.
Anyone using the NATF fix? A few questions:
1. Does it solve the forced changing of words?
2. Does it stop all corrections such as auto capitalizing of 1st word in sentence? - (which I like)
3. Any side effects of using this program?
I like people like NATF that solve problems. Kind of a hero.
Krizza, I also use AC3.3. Under INPUT I changed suggested words to 0 (default). This didn't seem to do anything for sms. Is there another setting somewhere?
maybe it isn't Advanced Config......

I just assumed that it was AC3.3 that was stopping the "suggest words" function. I have mine set to 0 (default) as well. My Touch Pro no longer suggests words when I'm texting, but I just checked out ,my phone and I have also adjusted START > SETTINGS > INPUT > WORD COMPLETION then I have unchecked the box that says "suggest words when entering text"......maybe that is what has been working for me all along.....hehehe
Krizza, I've had that un-checked all along. However the problem seems to have fixed itself when I reselected 0 (default) in AC3.3 then soft reset. It wasn't instant though, it seemed to correct after a few days. odd.
My coworker just got an Android (HTC Desire HD) and she was wondering if there was a way to let the suggestions appears as she type but to avoid to auto accept those. Since most of the time they are not accurate something a la Windows Phone.
I am a noob when it comes to Android(had an iPhone and now WP7), I tried to play with her phone settings but seems she can turn off the auto suggestion or not. Is there a keyboard she can install or something she can do to have this setting?
Settings > Language & Keyboard > Touch Input > Text Input > Prediction.
You should then be able to un-check Prediction.
Hope it helps.
actually if I rember well that turn of Prediction what I was after is show prediction but don't use those words except if I click on them.

Something like that. It's annoying that the Android keyboard suggest words as you type and use them without my approval. I want to be able to type see suggestion but choose if I want to use them or not. Hope I am clear.
Try
Menu, Settings, Language & keyboard, Keyboard settings, then uncheck "show suggestions"
Change key board to one with more settings this one is my favorite http://www.mediafire.com/?tmm3tymgdzz

I guess you need an unlocked device for that (or whatever you call it in the Android world). If it is the case that thread can be closed I'll let my coworker that it's not possible since I doubt she'll "unlock" her device

Hi everyone I just bought a GTab 2 7.0 on the weekend and since I like to personalize my stuff I've been busy setting all the options I can. There's this one thing though that I haven't been able to configure: the keyboard 'tick' sound when typing. I'd like to have a silent keyboard without using the "silent mode" in the tablet.
I found that on /system/media/audio/ui I could see a lot of files for the sounds on the tab. This was useful to silence the camera shutter but renaming/deleting the files that had "KeyPress*" name didn't work for the keyboard.
Does anyone knows how to silence the keyboard once and for all?

Settings, language & keyboard, under keyboards and input methods - settings button by the keyboard, un-check key-tab sound.
Well that was easy!
Sometimes you just have to look in the right place.

How to set haptic feedback the keyboard????
Is there a way to permanently disable speech-to-text AND the microphone that replaces the comma (seriously, who the hell thought THAT was a good idea?) on the AOSP keyboard in Jellybean? I can disable it until next boot by deselecting Voice Search as an input method in Settings -> Language and Input, but then it re-enables itself at reboot, and sometimes before.
Any help with this would be appreciated.
Go into keyboard settings, go down to voice input key, and select off

Hi,
so on every android phone you go to 'keyboard and input' and there you can turn off spell check (red underlines on wrongly written words),
but on my find x2 pro this option is missing, which makes me mad, since I have everything red all the time since I'm writing in three languagues every day.
Edit.
I understand now what is happening:
OPPO uses Gboard as standard keyboard and in it's settings you can turn it off, so they don't offer this option in their OS, oppose to every other android phone on the market, rotfl.
This way it obviously only works with Gboard.
Where exactly did you find the option to switch dictionary off? I couldn't find it in gboard settings

I'm using swift keyboard
and unfortunately dictionary (red lines under the words in Arabic language) is still on despite that I've switched off the spell check option from gboard
But if I switch the keyboard to gboard it'll be gone for Arabic language
As I wrote in last sentence in first post turning off works only with Gboard.
I wrote already to swiftkey support so they include this option too, but I got zero answer.
And oppo support says they won't include it, because it's already in their default keyboard (Gboard)...
