[Q] OC Kernels in HTC Explorer (Pico) - HTC Pico (Explorer)

Hey Devs, and geeks !
I wanted to ask if OC kernals with massive OCing like Cranium with 1.6Ghz OC, really work..... Or they're just working like placebo pills
And if they do work why don't the devs develop a similar Massive OC kernal for ICS and JB ?!:victory:

OC just boosts your AnTuTu benchmark scores. And, OCing might cause NAND burning problem. Make sure you know what you are doing... And, 1.4 GHz overclocking isn't useful, because, 800 MHz OC's itself are giving an AnTuTu benchmark of 4k+. So...

and also the OC by cranium kernel is not true OC
the developer sakindia himself said that
it will overheat your mobile for sure though

Still if the clock frequencies change ( in this case go up ) the phone does perform better in tasks because you are giving it more voltage to do so ... (if i am wrong correct me )
And you're right about NAND burning , Happened to a friend of mine Pain in the butt to fix it

No.. it's fake overclock. Will not drain battery. For a fact, cranium kernel ~it's the best battery saving kernel ever.

If it's true and safe overclock ,yes it'll improve performance. But not worth the hassle of recovering burnt nand and/or losing your phone

Sorry to interfere but when I asked Sarthak.. Then he told me that the clock values on 1.3 GHz were similar to the ones in 800mhz now.. So I guess that was a half fake over clock. Cause benchmarks were rising.. Then of course can't happen automagically... Although I don't trust benchmarks too much.. Very inconsistent at times

finally the cpu is unlocked, the MSM8655 is speced to 1.4ghz and should not harm a single thing running it at that all day long, lets press to 2.0ghz.

1804 has already been achieved. I think were going to get a stable zone at 1.5ghz.
but really this phone even clocked at 768mhz is still blazing fast.

This is so true. I underclocked my phone to 768MHz to try out how it would work for a day. I ended up entirely forgetting I had done that until I ran a benchmark.
seeing all this is amazing, I am very tempted to try it out, but this beast is super fast with having to OC it, lol

I don't know if you're right or not but I just flashed the 1.5 kernel and at 1.4 this thing is as fast as a computer..I hope you're right because I don't wanna go back to 1ghz..
Got 2016 quadrant after a reboot which is 300 higher than I got at 1 gig..
http://www.qualcomm.com/snapdragon/specs
Right below the dual core, High performance Smart Phones section. MSM8655 is our processor, it comes @ 1.0ghz, plam pre3 has the same and it comes @ 1.4ghz. The chip can take it but I think it was lowered for battery concern. I notice a lot of speed just flying through different programs when OC to 1.5, it opens them much faster, could be the I/O tweaks as well though. As for PC, mine puts out 42 gflops compared to my phones 49 mflops, still a long way off, thats 0.001% of the processing power. This phone is no slouch, so I guess it speaks more for my computers power.
sweet....im just gonna run it at 1.4 and since i have the 2750 battery i'm not gonna worry about battery life at all. i love this phone right now..

It's a massive CPU and bus overclock leading to this. Not a daily driver setting, it will chew through your battery and it's not entirely stable. Only for the purpose of breaking records.

All it it is Android Revolution HD 1.3 with blades kernel-meh running at 1656 (because the top frequency is unstable and actually makes it slower) with the interactive governer (thought i was on ondemand but just checked again) and i used task killer to free up ram before i ran the test. I also used v6 supercharger with option 8 a few days ago but didn't really notice a difference with it. I remember in the early days of the transformer there was talk about having different quality of chips and i remember mine testing very high so that might have something to do with it as well
The highest so far was 7522 on arhd / blades -meh at 1656..
This is my latest 7154 at 1592mhz...
Looks like my 3d graphics score is much higher than yours not sure why that would be though

I have tried overclocking the beast a bit, but it would generate much more heat when overclocked. It also crashed on me

You have to find the sweet spot for your tf dont push it to high because it becomes unstable not to low or there's no point in over clocking so its about balance

InstaVOLT v1.5
Decided to put it on the market for all devices that meet the requirements.
Quoted from market:
"InstaVOLT is the easiest app for managing your CPU milliVoltage levels. You can undervolt or overvolt your CPU voltage levels by steps of 25 milliVolt. Be sure to check the overall voltage levels after every increase or decrease, so you know what your device/kernel is capable of.
Requirements:
- Root
- Busybox
- Kernel with VDD levels support
Warning:
I'm not responsible for any damage caused to your device, use at own risk!
- If the voltage levels are to low your phone will freeze and you will need to pull the battery
- If the voltage levels are to high your phone will overheat and/or suddenly power off.
Since this is a very early version the app might force close when your kernel doesn't have vdd support.
Updates coming soon!"
Info for our device:
The voltage range of our device is 750mV - 1450mV.
Upcoming updates:
- Support for setting voltages at boot.
- Probably more compatibility / options

Wow, your overall voltage table is way lower then mine, check this out:
Mine: --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Yours:
how is the battery life with those voltages?
And I can lower it even 25mV more and works like a charm! But thats the limit, if I lower 50mV the phone freezes.
I will publish complete battery stats at the end of the day, don't know if they will be so good because I think that the mayor problem of battery drain is at lower voltages, I wish I could lower them more.
Anyway my phone is about 2 years old, so battery eficience may have decrease at least a 10-20%.. it's normal to have more drain than with new phone!

Really? you can put it to 725 without making it freeze? thats nice
OK thanks, ill wait for the results. and idd the major battery eater isn't the cpu/frequencies.. its something else. as Extreme UV and non UV almost result in the same results xD
And you can lower them more. in acpuclock-7x30.c you can find:
#ifdef CONFIG_CPU_FREQ_VDD_LEVELS
#define VDD_MIN_UV_MV 750U
#define VDD_MAX_UV_MV 1450U
which sets the limits, however, I don't know what will happen
My phone is also almost 2 years old now, and the battery is still prety decent to be honest, I thought it would be lazy as hell by this time ;p
ok I will try it later and give you feedback!
Even 375mhz doesn't lower more, when I reduce 25mV at least the rest frecuencies voltage is reduced.
You know that every single procesor is different, so maybe I was lucky with mine!
Anyway battery is enough good for me, I prefer permormance even if I have to pay a little more battery drain for it.
Thanks!

Nice I'm curious about the results, since I patched it to 1.1 it shouldn't FC anymore when there is no vdd support possible.
In next update i will add "save on boot" (as in a new init.d script)

Thanks, and if the max steps for -25mV is 2 then you've exceeded the minimal voltage, the minimal mV is 750, everything below that will freeze the phone. everything above 1450 will result in epic core meltdowns :silly:
on my note 2 its unfortunately not working, but also no fc. tried with stock and custom kernel (Adam Kernel)
will post results for my other phones tomorrow because im currently not at home.
btw. i like the idea of setting all voltages down the same amount. nice work bro

E: and please dont create 2 threads just to show something you think is, 'cool'(is there a way to say it without offending anyone?)
Oh spit thats bust my bubble but are they using a stock ROM and hardware? lol ... 2 post are due to the no link policy before you have done 10 posts which I fully understand and I didn't want to be an arse and post smiley face replies or something silly just to get my post count up

nope, only on kernels which version is 3.0101 (excluding s-kernel)
don't be too trusting with the benchmark
Sooo u get 8487 points in antutu, and? I dont see the point of creating new thread in which u will just show us ur score. It would WOW WOW WOW if u would score 9k+
8,5k is normal score.
Btw. if u wanna do screnshot just POW&VOL- or POW&VOL-&HOME depend of firmware
I went with what I could find

These where the results I found before I posted this so all I had to work on. I found plenty of videos images and reviews also stating 4k to 5k but yes after a great deal of in-depth searching I have since found scores of around 84xx but all of them were using a custom rom I'm using a stock rom and as I started with 4333 a score of 8487 is WOW WOW WOW

If you had read my post you quoted you would know why I did a second post and does it really matter

lol, kyrillos and stock can easily reach 8.5k when it comes to antutu v4
Maybe AnTuTu should be ask why scores are higher

As AnTuTulads are members here and if what you are saying is correct (i'm guessing you mean scores are higher in v4 compared to earlier versions) and ask them to explain. Maybe someone like yourself who has a better knowledge than me of past and present scores

I do not understand with Antutu .. when i first used it score satisfactorily, but at the time the score twice to be down, but no setting is changed. I now believe to be lacking any Benchmark Test! :silly:
