Hello everybody. About two months ago I bought in fastcardtech a smartphone "HDC Galaxy i9300 Pro Ultimate" which I'm sure many of you know. About three weeks ago I realized that it suddenly began having a terrible problem with the sound volume and qualíty when recording videos and even pure audio. Almost no gain at all and the quality of the recording is clearly low. I don't have any idea of why it began happening all of a sudden.
I saw in the properties of a couple of videos I have made as tests, that the audio bitrate is as incredibly low as 12kbps!! Of course with such a bitrate the rsulting sound quality of a video recording must be horrible. (Appart that the volume is also so low that sometimes one can think that there is no audio at all.
I have reset the smartphone to factory defaults twice or three times with no improvement at all. The problem stays there.
Now I come here --I hope it's not a wrong place-- asking for some help or ideas which could led me to overcome this situation. I was thinking that since reseting the phone has been of no help, maybe a suitable ROM for the phone could be a solution. But, since the smartphone is not an original Galaxy 3, I don't know which ROMs could be candidates for flashing.
I already managed to root the unit.
Here you will see first a capture of the properties of a video test I made, where you will see the extremely low audio bitrate:
I must add that also recording only audio (with the native software or any other downloaded from Google Play) thae sound quality is always very por and the volume very low.
The other picture shows some information of the phone, where it appears among other things, the fake 4.1.9 Android version.
If you need to know anything else about the smartphone to be able to give me a better help, just tell me and I will try to give you the details you might ask for.
In advance, thank you very much for any ideas, info, etc. Regards.

To be honest most will not know that device as it is a clone and not a real S3.

I am after any help to get my prophets camera video recording (which stutters like crazy and misses most frames) working to an exceptable level.
The basic photo quality from the camera is ok however its just the video recording
For the record, I have tried and tested CoolCamera v1.15 (and previous incarnations/versions) but CoolCamera doesn't work well at all on my Prophet and even the photo side of the software gives a bad image result.
I am currently using a G4 Prophet, ASURG v3.3.13 ROM which is the best out of all of those that I have tried.
So, what I am after is any help / relevant advice or information on what to do to enhance the video capabilities.
I use a fast 4GB MMS card which is NOT the problem as far as I am aware as I have not only tried saving a video recording internally but have also tested various ultra cards from 64mb,250mb right up to a 1gb for saving onto and its just as bad.
I have tried many patches (cab update types from various operators etc)
I have not come across any registry tweaks so am interested to hear if anyone has any they know of.
I have a feeling it maybe something to do with a combination of the relatively low CPU speed of the Prophet and perhaps the seemingly low quality sensor and camera chip? Incidentally, I've also increased and decreased the core clock speed using omapclock software but that makes no difference either.
Any help would be greatly appreciated as I use the device for EVERYTHING. Its with me 24hours a day and is used primarily for taking spur of the moment photos for work.
PS: For the record I have also checked 'xda-Dev' and left a post for help to (I haven't found anything relevant to this problem anywhere to be honest which I find strange.)
Surely I am not alone with this problem.
Thanks in advance of any help
Nicholas
I have nothing to say, use these tips for a little improvements
1. Update to Rom 2.20 and over clock to 204 MHz.
2. Use more light in the office.
3. Try 50 Hz flicker adjustment
I'm using now N80 the colors are not as Jamin but much movement for video inside, get on for your office
Thanks anyway....
Thanks but have already tried 2.20 with no difference. I started off with 2.20. Variable flicker adjustments have never made a difference either and I get the same result inside or outside. colors are very vivid and acceptable too. Its just the video recording quality I am looking to fix / better.
Video jumps and stutters during recording (every few seconds) at present to the point that I have to discard every video made on the phone.
Thanks all the same for replying.
I have very good Camera outdoor, in the sunlight, maybe ur device has a problem
well, erm thanks for that.
Cool Camera

A solution for you...
Hi m8,
What you need to do is this:-
1. Flash your phone back to a decent ROM such as the last QTek AKU 2.20 release. (All the other WM6, AKU3+ etc. etc. ROM's you might find are basically CRAP, although Jesterz AKU2.20 ROM is also a keeper in my opinion!!)
2. Then you need to overclock your phone to approx. 234MHz with the "Batterystatus" plugin (A very nice little app. that you should always have on your phone! - Search this Forum to find the app. d/l link!)
3. Unfortunatley, the AKU2.2 Camera Driver cannot handle the aforementioned overclock speed and gives you green pixels all over the screen, so you need to download and install the following older version of the Camera Driver, from here:-
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=31808&d=1165275264
4. Soft reset your phone after installing the driver and BINGO, Camera now runs like a charm in both still and in video modes!
I hope this helps... let me know if you need clarification of anything or if for some reason this doesn't work for you!
Cheers, Moz.
Thanks friend.
Thats one of the roms i was using last month. Its stable and reliable but still had problems. As for over clocking I use OMAP overclocking app and add shortcut to startup. I was told not to over clock ever if I want a decent camera result but will try once more. I appreciate your advice. Thanks.
Worse thing happened yesterday...my Prophet speaker died. So I have been told to phone up to arrange a replacement on Wednesday. I didn't know that the Prophet was renowned for having a speaker problem every so often and that many other people had had to get replacements because of this.
Oh well. Will wait till new one arrives and see how good the video is on it.
Thanks again
Hi again,
Sounds like your Prophet experience has been pretty much a mirror image of mine... I think we will ALL get the speaker problem sooner or later... these particular handsets seem rather badly built to me! I simply replaced my failed speaker with one from an old SPV E100 I had lying around, and now the ringtones and sound playback from the unit is awesome - Can't beat the old phones for build qualitt!! (...and I got my Jamin from Ebay for 60 quid so it was easy to take a risk in pulling it apart!!)
As for the fix I described previously, the Omap overclock will work equally well (I just find the Batterystatus app. more flexible). The Jesterz ROM is defo one of the most stable out there and if you want to use your device as a proper business/workhorse mobile phone rather than just a gimicky toy like most of the kids on here, then it (or the proper Qtek AKU 2.20) are the *only* ROMs worth considering.
Your previous advice concerning not overclocking for the Camera is essentially correct, hence the need to downgrade the driver in order to attain the required performance!!
When you get your replacement unit from Orange, I would simply try the Overclock to 234MHz then install the Driver fix I posted on top of whatever standard ROM it comes with... I'm sure you will see the improvement in video you are seeking - it works for me anyway!
(Nice website you have there, by the way... had a quick nosey and just thought I'd say! )
Rgds, Moz.
Cheers Mozzerr
Sound Mozzerr.
Took ALL what you were saying. Am checking new replacement now. Came this morning. I love Orange. I was really peed off at first as insurance had been taken off a year ago without my asking. Could have been an oversight on my part am not quite sure, but it nearly cost me a replacement phone. Was getting VERY worried as first told during two separate calls to two 'O' reps that HTC were going to have to fix the problem and that would be down TO ME!!!! cheek of it.
Anyway. Orange came up trumps in the end so am not here to knock them as they've been more than good to me in the past.
Anyway, am now off to play with the camera and see what gives.
Glad you like the site and thanks
Hello there fellas!
First of all, I'm not that super active member here on the boards, but I've been lurking around for a while now, this forum is a fantastic resource for smartphone users for sure! Well, the reason I am opening this thread is that I have a P920 for about 6 months now, and I ran into an issue and can't deal with it, I thought I'd ask the pros here what could be the solution for that.
The issue is that the phone's camcorder recording insanely rubbish audio while shooting a video. I like this phone because it's audio quality on the recordings were great, I've made several shots with it. But a few days ago something went wrong, and I just cannot understand what is going on.
No matter if I record a video in 720, 1080p, even in lower resolutions - the picture is just fine, but the audio is not that it used to be. It's not crystal clear, it's crackling now, crunching, and I can't even hear my own voice on the footages - making the camcorder feautre of this great device useless.
The thing is, I decided to upgrade the software on it, I've been using Froyo for a long time but I was missing the ICS features so I wanted to try and ended up with OneClickRoot and a rooted phone with CWM on it. So far, so good. No problems after the root for a few days. Than, suddenly I realized that the audio quality on the video footages I make are instanely useless - crackling. Every time. No matter what I do, it's just not that quality as it used to be.
I've followed a tutorial on how to upgrade my P920 to ICS hoping that it will solve this issue. Well, the update went okay, now I have ICS, everything works just fine except the camcorder. Same issue, crackling sound.
Funny thing is, during a phone call the audio quality is fine, using the sound recorder the audio quality is crystal clear so I am 100% sure that it's not a hardware issue.
I'll upload an example video file tomorrow here to this thread about this issue, unfortunately I can't do that right now. I can't understand what is going on, even an OS upgrade were unable to solve this problem. Again, the microphone is working fine.
Looking forward to hearing your thoughts fellas, I appreciate it a lot.
Have a great day!
Have you checked if the mic hole is plugged with dirt or lint or something?
I don't have the cracking, but when I take video of loud live music (usually in a small club) the sound is pretty crummy. My buddy has another brand of Android phone and he has the same issue. It's just really loud in there...
Anyway, I have wondered if there is some sort of pocket-sized external mic. for recording better sound. I'd like to hear about it if anyone knows...
Sent from my Oldschool Hardcore LG P925 with XBSA vR3D ROM and Backside Boneless FTW
What I did now is upgraded to ICS v28b using following this tutorial.
Now I am on the "stock" ICS - without the XBSA mod. Everything is working fine, except the audio quality on my videos.
I have recorded a sample video file at my backyard. Nothing fancy, holding the phone in my hands, please download the sample and check the audio quality. The video resolution is 720p, but the audio... It's horrible.
Download video sample here.
At the very same spot, I've recorded a sample audio file using the default android voice recorder, holding the phone in my hand. The audio qualiy is crystal clear.
Download audio sample here.
I don't get it guys. This issue started on Froyo, and than I upgraded to ICS (for the first time not sure which one) and upgraded to ICS v28b this time. I flashed the baseband to a different one as well (however I'm pretty sure it has nothing to with it) but still.
Basically I've changed the complete software "backend" on my phone and the audio quality still awful on video recordings. Please compare it with your videos, you will notice the difference.
Anyways, apart from that issue everything is just working fine, even the 3D features. Please shoot your ideas on how to fix this, because it's ruined the HD video recording feature of this fantastic handset. Thank you.
PS.: forgot to mention, I tried the XBSA ROM as well, and when I was on it, the audio quality on the videos were MUCH worse. Nearly unable to hear my own voice. This is the main reason I downgraded back to stock ICS using my nandroid backup, now it's somehow better (the current video file you can download here), but still not what it used to be.
I can get The jb camera, in The camcorder options we can select the input method its The one.

Umm, excuse me, I don't really understand what you trying to say here. Could you please explain? TY
Anyone with some idea? This bug still exists, and I have no idea how to solve it. Quite annoying
Is there a seconday microphone in the handset maybe dedicated to the camcorder!? Probably...

There's no option for that in video camera settings. Only "ON" and "MUTE" that's it.
Hello
I went to Sam Smith's concert in Lille (France) tuesday, tried to record a short extract of his performance but the sound is horrible. My girlfriend has an iPhone 5S and the sound quality is perfect.
Do you experience a ****ty sound quality in noisy sound conditions too ?
How to fix that ?

Thanks daddy but you dont solve the problem of thé sound recording on Honor 6 in loud environement being terrible
I don't play for that team sorry...
@theoneofgod Compare the two videos I posted and tell me if it's normal that Honor 6 has so bad sound ? The problem is that they didn't optimize their Kirin Chips and it's the result...

Back in the days when I had a Galaxy S4, with Cyanogen i had the same issue but with stock rom no problem
I think they didn't optimize the "drivers" for the phone, but it's lame
A 300€ device should not have this kind of issue

You need to send this directly to Honor themselves via Facebook or Twitter or whatever they use. If they hear you they might fix it but don't get your hopes up.
Same here.I went on a psy party and the sound was crap..Does the honor 6 + have the same microphone?I think it's hardware prob:crying:

It certainly has Contacted Honor, but no answer yet
It's really a game changer for me since I go to many festivals and concerts
Moreover I can't record my self playing music with it... With my GALAXY S4 didn't have this issue, the sound was clear, with bass too

I'm not the person to ask this. It's just that Huawei haven't tested the microphone under those circumstances and many other phones and cameras have the same problem.
I edit sample rate at etc/media profiles from 48000KHZ to 44100 as they say and the prob still exist.Even moto e records perfect sound...I'm already thinking changing to meizu mx4 and i really don't want to change it..
Does the microphone issue has a fix?
Hi,
I am looking to buy this phone and already got some good feedback on the battery side. The camera I have seen some nice or good enough photos, now the matter of sound...
This issue with the microphone is quite worrying. I do not record a lot of video, but if I wanted to I want to make sure I get some nice clear audio in the recorded video. Does anyone know if this issue has a fix? I haven't seen this posted anywhere, so maybe someone has done some research better than me and found a workaround. Maybe the latest OTA fixed the issue or some of the custom roms don't have the issue?
Do we have a solution for this?Did Huawei answered?
Hi!
Have another problem: when I call to someone or pick up the phone, people with whom I spoke complained of poor audibility. But in the dictophone mode microphone level still stay absolutely normal. Looks like as program error.
Reflash & customize my phone regular, may be something wrong ((
Now I make 3-th button restore to 5.9.1 without any customization, recieve auto update to 5.9.16, but no luck.
Any idea, please?

The microphone quality on the Honour 6 Plus is also very poor when using Bluetooth handsfree.
Have tried this with many different handsfree car kits and car stereos.
It would appear the the noise reduction algorithm is reducing the mic gain with the result that the mic audio level is about 15% of what it should be. This makes it extremely difficult for callers to hear what is being said.
Phone has been replaced.
Have tried 4.4 and 5.1 - no difference
For such a fantastic phone this is a massive oversight. Looking at the Mate 8 (when it appears), but worried may have same issue
Have emailed Hauwei support about issue, but there is no resolution
I have a gsm galaxy s6 in the UK
To me the loudspeaker output volume is low, certainly lower than the first one i had and im wondering if its anything to do with a recent update.
To explain further, when the s6 was first released i had one of each (s6 and s6 edge) and the handset was on 5.0.1
I was not entirely convinced by the handset and decided to return them and go back to my iphone 6. One of the things i was really impressed with on the handset though was the speaker output. I remember this particularly as it really stood out and i can remember that when playing music or watching youtube that even on 1/2 volume it seemed as loud as any other phone i had used with plenty in the bank to go higher.
Anyway, after a couple of weeks i decided to leave the iphone and get another s6. This phone was purchased sim free and came to me fully updated to 5.0.2 (no further updates available)
I find now that with this phone the volume seems really low and find myself playing it often above the 3/4 mark and not far off full.
I know that these type of things are quite subjective but i am certain the earlier ones i had were much louder.
Is it just me or has anyone else noticed this or could give some suggestions as to anything that may cause the volume to be lower for any reason.
thanks
Really only just me them?
Not just you, i also posted a similar post, i am also in the uk, i have an s6 that come with 5.0.2 already on it and my call volume seems a lot lower on max compared to my older s4.
I noticed theres a setting when making calls that says 'extra volume' when you press this, it doesnt seem to do anything?
For me its the loudspeaker volume when playing movies or YouTube etc.

Does anyone else have issue with noise crackling sound when recording a video? I have determined that it is not just my phone, but my wife's phone does this as well. Also, I have read online(linked below) that others have had this issue since the Note 5 was upgraded to Nougat 7.0. I have recorded with some other camera apps(Open Camera, Cinema FV-5, ) and have had mixed results, but have found some that do not have this crackling. It seems to happen when there is a lot of bass, like at a concert. With there being a difference in apps, could it be the post processing/encoding of the video audio that is causing this?
So, I am wondering if there will be a bug fix or another update soon to the Note 5, but I am not holding my breath. I also do not want to root and custom ROM this time due to actually liking Samsung Pay

You lost me at "liking samsung pay", but I've heard some background noise that shouldn't be there yeah.
