do you mean you keep touching it by accident whe typing ? if im typing lots i disable it (using the keyboard button above 3)....

I think he means how much the mouse moves when you move your finger. I find it a tad too sensitive for my taste

Imo, It's the acceleration that needs to be set to 0.
The TF ain't no laptop. If you insist on using the touchpad instead of the touchscreen, then go out and get yourself a nice laptop.
Why do people buy a tablet and then insisting on using it like a laptop? I don't get this.
Sometimes it can be convieniant to use the touch pad instead. For example to multitask between apps: typing into one, tap through to an IM via notification, then hit HOME on the keyboard and already have the touch pad cursor lined up over the icon for the app you were originally in.
I personally find it to be the best touch pad I've used, but then again I am weird and kind of like touch pads more than mice for non-gaming tasks.

For those people who complain about the touchpad, I give you 2 options to solve this huge life and death problem.
(1) Get an ipad.
(2) Get a screw driver and a pair of pliers and yank out the touchpad.

Gee what a helpful response... I can't believe the guy - like myself - had the nerve to think that the collective genius (and I'm being sincere there) of XDA could - or perhaps already did - come up with a way of decreasing the sensitivity of the track pad. Oh - the nerve of us for asking a question.
Seriously - responses like yours are patently unnecessary.
Is there a way to select or install a different mouse cursor for our transformers?
I would love to know the answer to this as well...I would almost think about rolling back because of the pointer chance.

Agreed. It just needs to be a bit smaller for pointing precision. It seems like when you see people with fat fingers trying to press buttons on a really small touch-screen... frustrating.
I like the new circle cursor, makes it easier to see what you are clicking on. The old one was too small and looked tacked on, was jaggedy etc, this one looks built in and nice.
I hate it. I bought the dock for a laptop like experience. To use the touch pad like I would on a laptop for editing, selection and such. I didn't buy it to be an extension of a toy and mimic a finger press. That makes no sense. And it makes no sense to treat a usb or bluetooth mouse different than the trackpad. If they're going to change it then give us a choice, otherwise, leave it alone. A bad arrow is better than no arrow. At least that felt precise.

I'm happy with it, and I don't think it needs to be any smaller to be precise. It's pretty easy to comprehend where the center of the circle is, I think. It's also a log easier to spot on the screen than the arrow cursor.
It would be nice to have a choice, though, for those folks who prefer the arrow.
The circle is not the problem technicly, when u scroll it seperates from itself, and scrolling is very very very jittery and laggy now, if u dont put two.fingers reallllly close together then u get the zoom option that hardly works aswell by just zooming by a little bit, its just a very horrable mess, again if they just switched to the circle and everything else was the same, not a big deal,
Got my 3.2 update today, and I like this mouse pointer a lot...
But I still think they should make the trackpad more customizable... I just got used to the way it scrolled, now it's different again...

yes the circle pointer lol nobody has made a mod to change it back as of yet.
i think if you use a BT/USB mouse it goes back to the normal pointer...
why they thought a circle was better is beyond me.

No offense to the OP, but IMO people need to search more before posting new topics. This is roughly the 23rd thread on the crappy new circular pointer. If for no other reason besides ease of reviewing information, consolidating your comments within an existing thread on the topic is beneficial to everyone.
The circle lets you see how the touchpad is detecting inputs when you're doing gestures. Other than that, it seems pretty useless. Just some fancy fx thing.

Because it also shows your trackpad gestures, I really like it, and can definately see a benefit with it over a regular pointer.

Circle pointer is more intuitive than the original pointer, when used for gestures, scrolling, clicking etc. It simulates ones actions on the screen, on the trackpad. It ofcourse changes to the normal pointer when using external mouse. I have been quite impressed with its usefulness but then horses for courses. Just use it for a while, and your horizons may broaden

I really hope don't make a rash change to the new pointer (which I like), based off a few people that "don't get it"...
For those of us that "do get it", seeing the gestures is invaluable.
Rather than "rash changes", why not give us the option to change it back?
Hide it in the Settings page if you want, but I thought Android was supposed to be about choice and customisation, not just "Do things our way and like it".
If that was the attitude I was interested in, I'd have sold my soul to the iCult of Jobs by now.
All that posturing aside, I had about 3 minutes with the new cursor before RMAing my dock, so I haven't had a lot of time to see if it gets better with use.

Choice an customisation is all there, where would you like me to start, but then a line has to be drawn somewhere wouldn't you say? It's not like iphone/ipad where one is only allowed to change the icon position on a screen, is it now?

I can see the usefulness, but have you it makes scrolling in the browser jerky and annoying, as if you don't move your fingers perfectly straight, it zooms in and out. It also is incredibly non-precise when doing anything in an RDP/VNC app.
I'm all for giving a one button click in the settings that will give me my old one back. Just because it has a few benefits (gestures) that some of you like, does not mean that it is great for everyone.
Well for some of you who don't like it they would either have to use external mouse or play with it, hoping that Icecream Sandwich/Asus FW would grant them their extra setting. For the time being though they are lumbered with it. Simples tch tch

I've found myself using the screen a LOT more since the 3.2 update. Trying to use the trackpad is rather batty IMHO.
At least put crosshairs in the circle.
I think it's a lot better, much to my surprise. Aside from the vertical scrolling that is very counter intuitive with a trackpad, it has several awesome advantages... the pointer stays in place when scrolling, the scrolling actually WORKS (try it on 3.1 with Tapatalk, then agree with me), it dosen't lack precision as after all, it's in the center of the circle that the click will originate. Pinch to zoom is cool and I rarely get it instead of scrolling.
All in all I like it, and I also agree that this sort of things needs a setting to be restored as it's unavoidable to piss off many users.

I think my SGN 10.1 is a fine tablet, but I have an issue with the pen: it isn’t recognized when it makes very light contact with the screen. In particular, light fast clicks don’t register consistently. The nib is a little loose and clicks a little bit. When I press down on the screen just until the tip makes contact with the back-end, no response. I have to press just a little more for the touch to register.
Do you experience the same thing, do you think it’s normal behavior, or should I return it?
Did you try reseating the nib?

I think the actual convenience of this pen is more sensitive than finger on SGN 10.1,even the original SGN.

After reading your post, I can confirm that my one reacts in the same way after testing.
For me this is not an issue as I have no real need to touch and move the screen so lightly. Everything I have practically used it for has worked without any hiccups and I have been able to achieve the desired results such as flawless note taking, browsing with the pen, doodling now and again.
Which task will you perform that requires such sensitivity?
My only complaint is that when I write using the S-pen, I occasionally press the side button which I wish I could disable.

Thanks a lot for the info! The "issue" nags me in normal use, like clicking buttons and hyperlinks. I am a light-handed user, I like to click lightly and quickly. I also like the idea of not putting too much stress on the screen, fearing premature damage/scratching. But if everybody is on the same boat, I guess I will have to adjust, for everything else works fine, in particular the handwriting recognition which I find quite impressive IMO.

But how sensitive is your pen? Can you succesfully click on buttons and menus fast and with a very light touch consistently, or does it skip clicks like every five tries?

I think in my case, the problem is more “responsiveness” than “sensitivity”. The touch screen is responsive to the finger, not so much with the pen. And the sensitivity to pen pressure is very good. It’s just that the pressure threshold for the pen to be recognized is bit too high for my taste. I’d like the feedback of other users before considering replacing my unit.

Mine skips sometimes and is inconsistent as well. My Note phone behaves the same way.

I don't think there is any need to worry as Samsung would have carried out stress tests to an acceptable level to prevent scratches and breakage, it sounds like even when you adjust, you will probably use less pressure than me anyway, I am quite heavy handed.
I have been using the phone version of the Note for a while and have never had issues with scratches or breakage. I intend to use the Note as I would use pen on paper and if it cannot handle that then it is not worth the money that Samsung are charging for it and I will be the first to take it back if there were problems under the sales of good act we have here in the uk I.e. being fit for purpose, durable quality etc.
You may want to get a screen protector if you are still concerned.
If you draw a lot the spen imprints a lot of sgnote s/p. I have a really heavy hand and draw with immense pressure on both notes and they have yet to show any wear...

Yes, imho your pen /tab is malfunctioning. I've received my 2nd tab, which unlike the 1st one creaked on both sides *and* exhibited the same light touch pen behaviour problem. It was very frustrating to use. Other than some stutter the 1st tab works just fine. So, I decided to send the 2nd tab back due to 2 issues I mentioned earlier. Interestingly enough and going by the serial # the 2nd tab was from the earlier build.

I’m happy. But I would be happier if I knew for sure that I could do better by replacing my Note. All things considered, I think I’ll keep it. I don’t think I’ll get an S-Pen without a little leeway in the nib (I had an Intuos 3, and I have vague memories of this).

I'm having the same problem with my second Note 10.1. My first Note 10.1 (that was stolen) was bought in September. This one was bought a few days ago. It's different from my first one. The screen sticker has more logos such as DivX and ChatOn and is in colour as opposed to white only. The S Pen fits tightly in the slot and is hard to remove compared to the old one which was perfect and easier to remove. Light touches with the pen don't register making skips in the lines where I reduce pressure.
Could this be a manufacturing issue affecting the newer models? Should I exchange it or is there calibration I can do?
I love this phone, but the larger size (coming from a GS2) definitely puts a strain on my thumb as I move it up and down the screen, especially to hit the buttons. I don't have small hands, but I don't have large hands either, and this is definitely causing some discomfort after heavy usuage.
So, in case anyone else is experiencing this is well, a nice solution is to install Pie Control from the play store and configure it to provide home, back and menu buttons on the sides of the screen when you swipe. It works great, just takes a while to get into the habit, and it's much quicker and easier than moving all the way to the bottom to press the buttons. It's completely configurable as well.

I had a similar situation when I got my s3 coming from an s1. Eventually I got used to the larger screen and just naturally started holding the phone differently. My s4 isn't a great deal bigger than my s3 but it is noticeable. You will all get used to the size in no time at all, I promise.

Actually the only thing larger on the GS4 is the screen. The phone itself is the same size.

I had a similar problem going to s3 but I have small hands. I had to get treated for an injury at the base of my palm which was probably due to one-handed use. I kind of avoid using my thumb for scrolling or pressing buttons while holding the phone one-handed. I just use the index finger of the other hand to touch the screen. As a general rule, if you have discomfort using something, don't keep doing it, or take a rest, or find another way to do it. I learned the hard way

Yeah, very true! That's why I'm trying out the Pie Control, so far it's working pretty well. Also alternating by using my left hand when possible.

I tried using Pie Control for a while but it became a bit of an annoyance whenever you didn't want to touch it. Another thing you can do, if your S4 version supports it, is to install an AOSP-based ROM and turn on the soft/virtual keys so that they appear above the capacitive buttons. Then turn off the capacitive buttons and their LED (the hack is found in a Google search). This makes reaching for the buttons easier but at the expense of shorter screen space.
There will be insensitive people here who will scoff at and mock your problems (happened to me before too, just for saying I had small hands), but RSI is a real serious issue and is relevant to this phone, especially as these flagship devices are not going to get any smaller. Not everyone here has large hands.
Anyways I think this should be moved to the Q&A section.. ?

Yes, I realize that. I compared the two when I got my s4. The extra height of the screen is negligible but noticeable. I use my nexus 7 one handed so not a problem for me.
