Is it possible to connect an external "pro" microphone to an android device? (with a normal stereo jack).
In my particular case it's a Samsung Galaxy S (I9000).
I need to record some stuff in good quality and I was wondering if I could do it just with my android device instead of bringing my laptop.
As expected, simply connecting a mic to the device doesn't work , but I was wondering if there's any software solution or if it would be possible to be made?
Hi there,
I'm owner of a Galaxy S4 Mini.
I'm also a home/amateur dj.
I would like to record a video while I'm djing with my mobile, using the minijack connection as a sound input. I want to connect the mixer output directly to the phone so I can have a video with the best audio possible.
Is that possible?, is there any app able to record video with external audio source (not the integrated mic)?.
Many thanks for your support.

YEs.... u just have to get a local headphone with mic, open the mic box , remove the mic and attatch 2 wires in position of mic... which u could use to connect external mic!

Thanks for your fast answer.
I would like to avoid using a mic. I want to connect the output of my mixer directly to the phone with a RCA-Jack cable while recording the video.

then connect a 3.5 female jack in place and use conector like this one

I'm using a RCA(male)-Jack(male) cable to connect my mixer to my phone.
The question is: how do I configure the video record app to make the phone take the sound from the mixer????.
With Android L featuring native USB Audio out is it safe to assume that all USB DACs will be compatible with all devices? It almost seems too good to be true
Also with upcoming USB Audio out can you have a hardware 3.5mm microphone-only (without speaker) plugged into the AUX/headphone port, and still output sound through USB? The way it behaves now when you plug in a microphone it assumes it's a headphone/mic combo and outputs sound thru the AUX port. I'd like to take the mic for input but still output sound through USB.
Thanks in advance.
is anyone able to answer this?
I've got some stereo audio going into a USB audio interface which I want to record onto my phone.
I've plugged the USB adapter that came with my S7 edge into the mini firewire/charging port of the phone, and connected the audio interface USB cable to that. I've tried a couple of stereo sound recorders like recforge but when I record the audio going into the phone from the USB, it comes out mono only and I want it stereo.
Is the phone not equipped to record stereo from USB or can anyone recommend an app or driver?
Anyone have any luck using an external mic when recording audio or video?
Sure every headset mic works.
But I guess you mean external USB Audio recording.
Yes, I have tested this using my ZOOM H4 N. It's a bit tricky and needs an USB 2 Host Adapter, and a software which detects USB Audio Mics. For example "Field recorder" 8.2 does it. You need to adjust the sample rate.
Thanks
