rooted nexus s can do OTA update ?

hello everybody , before i proceed to root my phone ,
can i update my phone through OTA once i rooted , but locked back the bootloader?

You can as long as you didn't remove any stock apps. The better idea would be to grab a pre-rooted stock ROM (or any other for that matter) from the dev section...

thanks for the info , currently im on stock 2.3.4 i9023. thinking to root to explore more.

[Q] HTC Sensation Flashing Older Stock ROM

Hey guys,
I would like to Root and Flash a custom ROM on my Sensation but would like a clear answer for the following question;
I know how to unroot and flash stock ROM but the stock RUU that I have downloaded from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1074559 is older than the ROM that came stock with the phone.
So I'm asking if I flash the stock ROM I have downloaded from the link above, am I able to update it to the latest Android Version OTA?

Skyrocket ICS Query

Hi guys.
I have just got a Skyrocket imported from US to India.
It has Gingerbread on it and i want to root it,i want to install ICS Custom rom on it.I know how to root it and would do that but was confused and just wanted to know in case if i have to install ICS custom rom then i need to flash a radio for that first?
Can anyone help me with the link to that radio file

There are quite a few radios floating around now, at the moment. Really, they're different for everyone depending on where you are. A good spot to take a look at would be here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1573218.

So that means first i should root my phone
then i should flash the radio for ICS and then i should flash the Custom rom for ics ?

Install CWM > root > install ics rom of your choice

[Q] Root for Stock JellyBean?

Hello everyone,
I've recently purchased a refurbished Wi-Fi only Motorola Xoom. The first thing I did, before thinking, was updated it to JellyBean via FOTA. I'm loving the stock JB, but I really wish I would have rooted it before I updated
Has anyone found a way to do this yet? I don't want to use a custom ROM, I just miss a few features of rooting

you can use the zip file in this post (flash it with CWM or other recovery) to root jb

I have a rooted stock photon q 4g lite no custom rom need to update to 77.8.14 I have it downloaded in phone when trying to update phone locks up then reboots i understand this is needed before update to new jb

Uhm.
I responded in the thread you opened here.
The thread came to mind, and then I noticed the OP is the same... What gives? Creating multiple threads like this really dilutes the community effort.
