hello everybody , before i proceed to root my phone ,
can i update my phone through OTA once i rooted , but locked back the bootloader?
You can as long as you didn't remove any stock apps. The better idea would be to grab a pre-rooted stock ROM (or any other for that matter) from the dev section...

There are quite a few radios floating around now, at the moment. Really, they're different for everyone depending on where you are. A good spot to take a look at would be here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1573218.

Hey Guys,
I wanted to ask a quick question. I am currently running LeeDroid's rom and I am done with it. I want to go back to what comes with original rom with ATT. I have HTC Inspire any recommendations where I can get it? I tried searching the forum but all the stuff seems from the begining of the year. I am not sure if there is something more recent. I really appreciate your help.
Thanks

If I understand you correctly, you could just use the Ace Advanced Hack Kit (you're gonna have to Google for it, the developer pulled his work from XDA and thus it would not be proper to link to it) to unroot and flash back to the stock ROM, then use the Software Update to update to the latest version. Alternatively, Gizmoe has taken the latest stock ROM update and rooted it. You could always flash that and keep root, if you wish.
It was the first ROM on the I4G's developement page. Jeez peeps, search for it
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1810461
It's not pure stock, bloatware is gone, there's some tweaks, and you retain root.
If you want to lose root (not sure why anyone would), you can download the update package from HTC. You'll probably lose everything you have , but you'll be on 100% pure stock.
Installing OTA update if you're rooted doesn't work
tried it, update does not launch, but again, why would you

Why would you not want Jelly Bean 4.1?
I think you need to unlock the bootloader, install a custom bootloader, then you can flash a prerooted ROM
My problem in rooting is I have 1.94.631.3
I expect Rogers will not see 4.0.4 for a long time.

Rogers didn't limit us like AT&T did with our southern users. Go to htcdev.com, register and unlock your bootloader. Once complete, you can push TWRP via fasboot to your phone. From there, you can boot into recovery via bootloader and flash a custom ROM that is already rooted for you.

AFAIK, JB is still a work in progress, I think OP is looking for something stable for a DD. You're right about that last part though, Canadian carriers are stupid slow in getting updates pushed to their users.
I read if you go 4.04 you will have setting issues with LTE when you upgrade to 4.1
I also read CynogenMod 10 is pretty stable not too many complaints, daily updates.
If I read right the process where you unlock the bootloader, push TWRP should work with my device too ....
It should not matter I have 1.94.631.3
Maybe I am waiting for nothing.

When stable builds of JB get released, I'm sure the dev community will be able to troubleshoot any issues.
It's only the AT&T version of the HOX that is locked down. All other variants (to my knowledge) are unlockable through htcdev.com. Once you have an unlocked bootloader, you will be able to flash TWRP and then a new ROM.
But I don't want to lost all my setting , apps , msg , ect . ...

im a beginner here . but im ready to learn .
can anyone give me some adivce or tips on how doing it ?
thanks ! waiting for you replies ^_^
you can relock bootloader then flash ruu to go back to stock
use fastboot command to get your cid then find the correct ruu
READ all the sticky/index threads in the forum. everything you need to know is already there. and make sure you understand what you need to do before start doing it
okay sir thanks for the tip ..
If I were you, i wont lost root status.
I would flash pre-rooted stock rom. Somewhere in forum (check roms list) is pre-rooted version of 2.10.401.9 ota.
What does it mean ?
You get android 2.3.5 with sense 3.0 and it's rooted (superSU preinstalled). You don't have to relock. You just flash zip like any other custom rom.

okay sir but the problem is i dont know the right RUU for my phone .
thanks for your tip ..
What remusator is talking about is not a RUU. It's the RUU without stock hboot and recovery, it has to be flashed in recovery or in bootloader using a PG88IMG.zip .
There's an ics rom like that somewhere in the forum (not rooted but you can do it yourself).

okay sir
Question is, whether you want stock Gingerbread or stock IceCreamSandwich.
Both able to install without restoring bootloader and loosing root.
For GingerBread (Sense 3.0, Android 2.3.5) check this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1480576
For IceCreamSandwich (Sense 3.6, Android 4.0.4) check this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1858508
But i highly recommend this rom (it's non stock, but best of what i've ever used) - i havent found any bugs yet + it looks great, transitions are smooth

Flash the zip in recovery, then reboot to bootloader and flash the boot.img (extracted from zip) in fastboot.

It's impossible to say which rom is "the best", that depends on how you use your phone, personal preference etc.
I would suggest trying a few different roms, to see which you like best.
