[Q] HTC Sensation Flashing Older Stock ROM - HTC Sensation

Hey guys,
I would like to Root and Flash a custom ROM on my Sensation but would like a clear answer for the following question;
I know how to unroot and flash stock ROM but the stock RUU that I have downloaded from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1074559 is older than the ROM that came stock with the phone.
So I'm asking if I flash the stock ROM I have downloaded from the link above, am I able to update it to the latest Android Version OTA?
Cheers guys

HTC Desire STOCK ROOTED 2.2 GSM ROM needed!

I was running stock rooted ROM on my HTC Desire a while back, then I first flashed Oxygen 2.0.1, but I found bugs in it, so then I flashed Cyanogen, there's no marketplace in there, and now I'm utterly bugged with the bugs of these custom ROMs. I really need to get back to stock rooted ROM
Any genuine stock ROMs which I can flash? Also, if I need a different radio, then I need a link to download that radio and the procedure to flash the radio.

[Q] Update android 2.3.4 to 2.3.5 or higher

Hello, I have android 2.3.4. Can i install custom Rom base on 2.3.5 or 2.3.7 ?
if not, how can i update from 2.3.4 to higher ?
You need to S-OFF and then flash a custom ROM as there's nothing officially released higher than 2.3.4
So...It doesnt matter if i install Custom Rom based on 2.3.4 or based on 2.3.5 ?
or should i install 2.3.5 first, then install custom rom for 2.3.5 ?
s-off necessary
You can do only for 2.3.4 as far as I know .no need to upgrade the stock Rom before root.and make sure u follow the instructions carefuly .in the development forums u can find a nice guide on how to s-off .debrand and flash your senny

As EddyOs already metioned

You can't flash a custome ROM over a stock rom if the phone is not S-OFF.
Look at this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1192300
For as far as I know, you can install any custom rom/kernel on your sensation as long if its s-off and rooted.

[Q] Stock Sensation ROM link?

So I just checked the forum and I couldn't find a link anywhere.
Can anyone get me a link to the Stock NON XE/ROOT rom for the
Sensation?
My phone got replaced and I need to send in the old one, before
that need to flash stock rom and S-off. Also, should I flash the stock
radio?

ICS Pre-Upgrade Question

Hi everyone!! Have a question to ask and was wondering if anyone could help.
Right so this my situation:
I own a HTC Sensation XE, I have S-OFF, Rooted and SuperCID.
So basically i'm all set for custom roms (gingerbread ones anyway).
I have also installed a custom rom (Pyramid3D v8.3.0 - gingerbread based).
Now I am considering upgrading and installing a ICS based custom rom, however it appears that in order to use the ICS based roms, I have to flash new firmware.
Now I have no problem with doing that, I understand how to do that.
My question is:
If I upgrade the firmware and install an ICS based custom rom, but for whatever reason I do not like it, can I then simple downgrade back to a gingerbread rom?
Will a gingerbread rom work fine with the newer firmware?
Do I have to downgrade the firmware back?
Is there any disadvantage to using the newer firmware on gingerbread if possible?
Is the downgrade as simple as installing any other rom? - if that possible
Thanks in advance for help you guys can give!! Appreciate it!!

Depends, 1.23 (from 3.12) should work fine. 1.27 (from 3.24) won't.

You'll need HBOOT 1.23 or 1.17 to boot GB ROMs. I used 1.23 for a while with ICS and CM7. I've only recently gone to the unlocked 1.27 F/W, seems more stable on ICS. I think I noticed a battery life benefit with CM7 & 1.23, so an advantage.

You need to do it via the PG58IMG.zip method rather than recovery.

Short answers to your questions:
Yes - but you need to downgrade the firmware
No
Yes
You can't use new firmware with Gingerbread
Yes
Detailed stuff can be found in this most helpful post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1480061
I think you'll find it worthwhile to move to ICS. Good luck.
edit: Doh! Missed it by that much....

+1 on the move to ICS.
My question is:
If I upgrade the firmware and install an ICS based custom rom, but for whatever reason I do not like it, can I then simple downgrade back to a gingerbread rom?
Only if you have a GB compatible firmware installed.
So if I was to install 3.24 then GB roms most likely wouldn't work?
Do I have to downgrade the firmware back?

You'll need HBOOT 1.23 or 1.17 to boot GB ROMs. I used 1.23 for a while with ICS and CM7. I've only recently gone to the unlocked 1.27 F/W, seems more stable on ICS.
So 1.23 is the best bet if I want to "try" ICS and then can go back if I choose
Another question which I also have then is:
Some ICS roms say that they require firmware 3.24. To clarify, If I install this firmware and an ICS rom, there will be no way for me then install most GB roms (broadly speaking).

From the thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1459767
You can reflash an earlier F/W so go back to 1.17, as always if it screws up it screws up. It's the sort of thing I tried to avoid where possible, but sometimes is necessary.
One point though, when you flash 1.23 or 1.27 you'll get a new Radio. If you regress the F/W to 1.17 you'll need to flash a compatible Radio as well.
You "should" be able to try before you buy ICS on 1.23 and also go back to GB. That said, I've found my current combo (VI 3.0.5b7 and 1.27.1100) more stable than an earlier version of the ROM was on 1.23.

NO GB on this F/W

What firmware is in your bootloader? When you are flashing a rom and it requires a specific Firmware you will need to update that firmware to that roms requirements. First time Flashing also requires a full wipe. . There is a firmware thread in sensation development and how to's. Example.. If i want sense 3.6 rom or new 4.0 rom I would flash firmware 3.32. If your not sure how firmware flashes read up on it. It can cause bootloops if your not flashing the proper zips. Welcome to the world of SENSATION..

Hey pop did ya delete the firmware file you flashed right after you updated it into bootloader? Usually that PG58IMG which would be your firmware file zip should be deleted off your SDcard right after you bootloaded it. And also let me remind ya that even its a lower firmware like 3.24 or less it will have that same PG58IMG file name saved on your wherever downloaded too. So make sure your installing that correct PG58IMG firmware. Other than that ..try a step down from 3.32 and see if that works with the ARHD Rom.

Try the 3.30 firmware. If not just double check to see if you downloaded the right firmware 3.32. Like for me I'm a T-Mobile user so I had to download the T-Mobile version firmware.. hope that helps..
