Downgrade to CyanogenMod 10? - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III

Hi,
Recently I've been wanting Android 4.1, so I can get Wii remotes to work with my phone.
What do you recommend for downgrade procedures?
Currently I'm on CM 10.1

Download choice of Rom. Reboot recovery, wipe data, cache, system, dalvik.. Flash new Rom... Pretty simple. How we're you able to get to a 10.1 Rom

Is wiping system safe? If I remember correctly, that's got me into the issue with the 4G data only, no call/text/3g.
For now I've got CM 10 backed up for when I need it, and then CM 10.1 for everyday use

Wiping system is completely safe. I do it every time I flash a new Rom.. It's not necessary really, but most of the time I get less bugs doing that then without it
Sent from my MIUI powered S3 thanks to StrumerJohn

It's the same as going to from CM 10 to 10.1, just the other way around. And it's always a good idea to wipe system when going from one version to another. And in all my flashing I've never had a problem with system wiping

[Q] Help Cynagenmod setting forces close!!

When I try to open cyanogenmod settings or the browser it just forces close. I'm running on nscollab 1.0.60 with Trinity kernel!

Try installing setcpu and seeing if that fixes it.
Just install it no need to open it.

Have you tried a fresh install? Always works ;-)

What do you mean by a fresh install?

A fresh install means wiping the dalvik cache and factory resetting the phone in recovery mode before flashing the rom. Best use titanium back up if you want to keep your apps

Do you remember doing anything to your phone before the fcs started?

If it always has been like this, you've most likely corrupted the ROM file during download.
Download it again and install it after doing a factory reset & caches wipe.

Thanx bro it worked!!!!

Pacman rom, system ui stopped working

Hi im still a complete nood at this forum stuff, but i have been useing custom roms for a while on my note 2 but i really liked the pacman rom i liked the notification bar and the overall feel then it kept popping up with system ui stopped working i re wiped it all and reinstalled it and it was worse as soon as i unlock it, the error message pops up im really unsure what to do please help
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda app-developers app
What version of the note 2 do you have and which version of PAC did you download?
Sent from my Vivid 4G using xda app-developers app
Model number : GT-N7100
Android version : 4.1.2
I am using the alliance rom just because its stable and i made the biggest noob mistake of all, flashed and didnt do an original back up so i have no choice but to use custom roms,
Is that what you were asking for ? I wasnt joking when i said im a noob, ill have to see the pac rom when i get home because its seemed to have broken my micro sd card because my phone isnt allowing me to mount my san disk 54gb micro sd
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda app-developers app
ok so several things:
1)It sounds like the PAC rom wasnt built for your phone (maybe diff systemUI) or if ported, not done correctly. Either that or you didnt flash it properly.
2)If you want to return to the original ROM, im pretty sure there are steps to do so
3)Did you try an official version of PAC or something else?
4)Did you format system and cache before flashing the ROM?
N7100_PAC_JB_4.2.2-v20.0.0
I i wipe system amd cache partition data but on twrp i use system wipe which says it does system and cache partitin ?

Jb = jelly bean 4.2.2 mine should be JB 4.1.2 pac rom ?

That's good and I don't believe so

Hello,
I also compiled this an actual version myself, but also here system UI crashes.

Back to "stock" ROM kernel?

Can I go back to the kernel that came with my ROM? I'm running Liquid 4/20 nightly with KT kernel currently and want to go back to "stock". Any way to do this without reflashing?

You will have to reboot into recovery and wipe data. It will take you back to when you first flash the ROM.
Thanks for the response.. What all will be lost with data wipe? Will I still have downloaded apps?

The user wants the stock kernel which came with the ROM. He has to flash the Kernel or flash the ROM once again after wiping the data.

Yes this is exactly what I'm asking about. If I don't have the kernel and I reflash the ROM after the data wipe, what will I have lost when the phone reboots? Maybe a better question is what will I need to restore as I've done a full backup.

When you dont wipe anything and flash the rom, you won't loose anything as far as i know. This method is known as dirty flashing. This may sometimes causes unintended issues.
If you wipe cache, dalvik-cache, boot, system and data and flash the rom, you will loose all the apps installed, messages, contacts etc. This is full wipe, clean install.

[Q] i727 Boot Loop.

Hello. Basically I tried installing mohan_kr's ATT-SGH-I727-UCMC1-STOCK-odexed-cwm.zip onto my Skyrocket i727 and it gets as far as half-way into the Rethink Possible screen, freezes, then reboots. Then continues to do that until it just stops and shuts the phone down entirely. Before installing I formatted /system, wiped data/factory reset and wiped the cache partition but it only results in a boot loop. This was all done with ClockworkMod Recovery 5.0.2.6. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this? I tried searching but the only thing related turned out to be a stuck power button, which this isn't.
If I remember right, the recovery you're using is old as dirt. Am I right?

Ya pretty much haha. My friend, who's had a lot more experience with androids than I have, installed it along with gingerbread so we could just update straight from there with CWM to jelly bean 4.1.2 but now every rom I try gets stuck in a boot loop. Is there a way to upgrade CWM without an active OS?

Grab an updated recovery from here, load it onto your memory card, enter recovery, Install Zip from External SD, flash.
Just download the latest recovery and install using Odin, after that you can try flashing the ROM.. Mohan's ROM will work like a charm...
Ended up using the flashable version of TWRP 2.5.0.0 and installed it with CWM. Was up and running in no time thanks for the replies!

Clean flash it
Just may do that. Pretty sure that I did but now that I think about it I may have only done Cache, Data, and Dalvik.

That would be a clean flash then. Updater script in rom zip wipes system for you.

I'm having problems with cm 4.3 and all other 4.3 roms except eclipse were I lose service and can't send out any text messege .but I can still receive call text and data. Eclipse roms doesn't do that. The only problem it has is when candy crush and pet rescueforce close everything. Any ideal what's going on
