I'm not sure which section of to put this thread in, but anyways. I was at AT&T buying some screen protectors for my captivate and the salesperson told me that 2.3 is coming in a few months for the captivate. I hope this will answer some questions. Hopefully the salesperson wasn't lying. But this is good new!!! PS there is the same post in the Q&A section that I accidently posted. I meant to post in the General section.

Are you sure he said that last "for the captivate" part? I'm sure what he meant was "we'll eventually have a phone with android 2.3. It won't be the captivate, I'm just telling you now so you get your wallet ready."
My friend works for rogers up here in canada and he was saying the same thing about gingerbread. hopefully it is sometime soon within a couple of months.
Who cares where it comes from. If there's official 2.3.3 out somewhere, devs here will get their hands on it.

We will see. I wouldn't say give up all hope that 2.3 will ever get to us... but based on past history... don't hold your breath. Also, my experience with AT&T reps is there are a few that have a clue on Android and they are like us. coming to XDA and various blogs for their info. I don't think AT&T gives them official anything.

I know I will since I'm not 18months into my contract yet . But this temps me into opening/closing a line just for the Sensation or G2X. I was hoping the SGSII would be part of this promotion, but forgot it hasn't been released.
I'm getting someone a phone for Christmas and it's between the Skyrocket (really S2 lte here in Canada) or the S3. Here's my problem: I can get the S3 for zero dollars thru futueshop, but they are also having a deal where you can get an S2Lte for zero as well WITH a $150 gift card bonus.
Which is the better deal?
On one hand, the S3 is the newer device, but on the other, the S2 LTE is still relevant and that gift card is tempting

+1 worth the roms we have out now, I don't notice a big difference between my rocket and my wife's s3. Plus, for $150, you can get yourself something nice too

I believe sammobile talked about this promotion before Christmas where you would walk up to a booth and if you had samsung pay active you would be able to choose from diffrent gift cards they had
I had it here in Denver and got $25 for already activating. The selection of merchants were small, but it helped pay for me to see Star Wars twice.
