Rooting 2011 Xperias running ICS 4.0.4 only. - General Questions and Answers

Hi! All.
This one is for noobs to root their phone in the same way as the moderators explained but in easy language.
1. Download flashtool for xperia, google it and you got that.
2. Then download the 4.1.A.0.562 kernel for your 2011 xperia, you could google it or try it on 4shared, all you'll get there.
3. Go to flashtools>firmwares and delete everything present and then put the downloaded kernel.
4. Also you need to install the adb drivers for your phone. If you're not sure of that then go to flashtools>drivers and install the specific driver of your phone.
5. Now go to settings>developer options> and turn on usb debugging.
Then go to security and tick unknown sources.
6. Now switch the usb connection mode to mass storage mode(MSC).
7. Connect your xperia to your computer. Open flashtools.exe and click on the flash icon (that like a lightning/bolt) and select flashmode. Click on the respective kernel and click OK.
8. Follow the on screen instructions and you're done.
**You also need to download DoomLord's rooting toolkit for xperia.
9. Now turn on your phone, when the sony logo appears plug it to your computer and open your rooting toolkit and press enter.
10. Your phone may reboot several times, don't worry about that.
11. After it is over now again connect it to your computer, open flashtool.
**You also need to download the 4.1.B.0.587 kernel for your respective xperia, most probably you'll get it on 4shared.
12. Put that kernel in flashtool>firmwares.
13. Now again click the same flash icon and select the 4.1.B.0.587 and click on ok.
14. Follow the on screen instructions and you're done.
15. If there isn't any superuser or superSu app installed, that means you've not followed the steps proper and you are not able to complete rooting.:good:

Please use the Q&A Forum for questions Thanks
Moving to Q&A
I rooted my LG-C660 by LG Esteem:
1.- You need to install the phone USB drivers (They are usually in the SD Card when they are new).
2.- If your pc has Windows 7, restart it, press f8 when starting and choose the "Disable Driver Signature Enforcement" option. Your pc will load normally. (If you don't have windows 7 just skip this step).
3.- When the computer is ready, put the phone in USB depuration mode (Settings-> apps -> Development). Connect it to the USB port and be sure your computer recognize it well.
4.- Download LG Esteem. I can't post the URL but go to google and paste this "LG_Esteem_Root.zip mediafire" , you will find it in the first link.
5.- Unzip and run "Run.bat". The program will start. Just follow the on-screen instructions and after seconds it will be rebooted. After this, your phone it's going to be rooted and you will find the Superuser app.
Try it, hope it helps you.

Thanks a lot! :good:
It helped my friend's phone removing some stock apps that he never uses. The next step will be the solution to the lack of ram, but that will be another story. A new custom rom maybe...or a new phone.

[Q] How to root SGS2 using this guide?

hi...can someone help? im a bit confuse how to root the SGS2 I9100DXKI2...
now im prefer this guide coz easy root and unroot
Method 1 works with all firmware version
1. Download an insecure kernel from either Chainfire or Odia's thread. Any version will do so just grab the newest one, it doesn't need to match your current kernel version.
2. Download the stock kernel to match your firmware from below
3. Extract both kernels and remember where you've extracted them.
4. Download SuperOneClick V. 1.9.5. I know there are newer versions but just do what I say.
5. Make sure that your device is in USB debugging mode: Settings -> Applications -> Development -> USB debugging.
6. Put your device into download mode. To do so: Turn the device off, then power it on again by pressing and holding VolumeDown + Home + Power simultaneously.
7. Start ODIN. Wait for whatever drivers need to load and for the ID:Com section to turn yellow
8. Click on the PDA section and select the insecure kernel you extracted above. Make sure only Auto Reboot and F.Reset Time is ticked in the options
9. Click on start
10. Wait for it to reboot and then close Odin
11. Start SuperOneClick and don't change anything on the screen. I hope you didn't remove the USB cable but if you did just reconnect it
12. Hit root
13. Allow it to install everything it prompts you to, i.e. SU, BusyBox
14. When it's done just shutdown your phone and remove the USB cable
15. Put it into download mode
16. Start Odin and hit the PDA section and select the stock kernel you downloaded and extracted earlier that matches your firmware version.
17. Connect the USB cable and wait for the ID:Com box to turn yellow.Make sure only Auto Reboot and F.Reset Time is ticked in the options
18. Press start. Let it flash the stock kernel and reboot
19. You're now rooted.

rooting xperia u in one click

Root Sony Xperia U using One-Click method
1. Download the root package by using
the link from here = http://uploaded.net/file/0fpyh5c5
2. Save the file on your computer or
notebook.
3. Unzip the same on Desktop or on any
other location from your PC.
4. Take the USB cable and by using the
same connect your phone with the
computer.
5. Now, go and run the RunMe.bat
executable file from the computer.
6. You will have to choose a mode; pick
“Normal mode”.
7. Just select “root” and don’t press
anything else.
8. Now, the root procedure will begin.
9. When ended, unplug the USB cable
and reboot your phone as you are
done.
That was all; as you can see there are only a
few steps to take care of, so this is indeed a
fast and easy to apply root method. Anyway,
now your Sony Xperia U device is rooted so
you can make changes into the internal
system. Also, you can install complex apps and
tools and also flash a custom ROM for
improving the performances of your handset.

I had to do the same last night. I used Sony PC companion to restore back to factory default after backing up all my data. Once the restore function finished, I allowed the OTA to go through. Once the OTA went through, I completed a factory restore via the bootloader screen (Call me overkill but i like a clean slate to work on). Before adding any apps or even my google account I used Kingroot to root the device with no issues. I do have one problem though, I cant seem to get SuperSU to install after using Kingroot, other than that, root was obtained and i started removing bloat and crap apps. Now... all i need is some help figuring out how to remove Kingroot and KingSu and apply SuperSu.

Thanks for the fast reply. I believe you have to flash Supersu through recovery.

I think the same thing. I just happen to be at work and dont have adb access on my workstation. Im going to have to play around with this once i get home today.
Here's the process I used to unroot my D6616 and install the new firmware (sorry, no links because I'm a new user):
--- MAKE SURE TO BACK UP YOUR FILES BEFORE YOU START THIS PROCESS ---
1. (Windows 8, 8.1, or 10 only) Disable driver signature enforcement (google it).
2. Download the latest Flashtool from the flashtool (dot) net website. (Magnet link guarantees quickest download). Just like with most root tools, you may need to temporarily disable antivirus. This is due to the fact that "rooting" is accomplished by exploiting a weakness in your phone with a specially crafted virus.
3. Install Flashtool.
4. Run C:\Flashtool\drivers\Flashtool-drivers.exe and install the following drivers (if on Windows 8+, say yes to all prompts asking to install unsigned drivers):
- Flashmode Drivers
- Fastboot Drivers
- Xperia Z3 Device Driver (near bottom of list)
5. Go to the start menu and run "Flashtool" (or Flashtool 64 if you're on a 64-bit system).
6. Click the "XP" button in the toolbar and download the newest D6616 firmware (Xperia Z3 > D6616 > 23.1.C.0.385 / R15C > Download)
7. Connect your phone to the computer with a USB cable. Make sure it's in "Charge only" mode.
8. Click the "Flash" button in the Flashtool toolbar, select "Flashmode", select the D6616 firmware in the list, leave all other settings unchanged, and click "Flash"
9. Flashtool will start the process. It may ask you to unplug, power down, then replug (don't worry about the back button). The process should take about 5-10 minutes. Be patient.
10. DONE!!!
